Patching and upgrading streams

We have streams set up between two sites. One site is primary and the second one would be secondary
or the standby system (without using DataGuard). When we go operational, which we haven't yet.
I am trying to determine how we would apply patches to the system. Again, if one is down for patches
the second site must be available. Can I have the two sites in different patches/upgrades ?
I would plan to do them with minimal down time. I've read where streams could push through the patch,
but have had people not recommend this as the outcome could be unpredictable.
Are there any systems out there using streams as their standby system ? How do you perform patch or
upgrade maintenance ?
Appreciate your comments.
Thank you.

Streams support different patch levels as long as you don't use a feature in the lower patchset that exists in the other one. So patch at you ease and don't look at streams. I would just avoid a dctionary build between the two patche session, even if I am confident it will cope with that. Just a conservatism reflex.

  • Difference between patch and upgrade

    hi,
i need to know the exact difference between the patch that is available online and the upgradation of oracle. there is a patch 14 available for oracle 11.5.9 available. what does it do. is it similar to upgrading the oracle installation to a higher version.
please reply as soon as possible.
    thank you in advance.

Would you please elaborate more. What do you mean by the patch this is available only? What is patch 14?
If you are running on 11.5.9 and want to upgrade to 11.5.10.2, then you need to apply 11.5.10.2 maintenance pack. Maintenance pack is a consolidation of all the mini packs for all products and all the family packs for the entire oracle applications.

  • Patches and pre-task to upgrade from 12.1.1 to 12.1.3

I have a few questions regarding to pre-required patches and pre-tasks in order to upgrade from 12.1.1 to 12.1.3.
Currently, the system is on 12.1.1 and pre-required patch, 9039089 which is for R12.AD.B.delta.3 code level.
But, when I checked the document, Oracle E-Business Suite Release 12.1.3 Readme [ID 1080973.1]...
    Q1.
    contents deleted.
However, the document 761570.1 is about the necessary steps of upgrade from 11i to 12.1.3.
Is this necessary/applicable still for my case as well?
    Q2.
    content deleted.
However, R12.1.1 already comes with 10.1.2 and 10.1.3 for the application server.
Is it needed to have these AS10g patches still in this case?
    Q3.
In short, what patches/steps are needed when I upgrade from 12.1.1 to 12.1.3 after all...? Followings are the ones I identified.
    9239089
    9239090
    9239095
    9817770
    9966055
So, is it sufficient to apply 9239089 for R12.AD.B.delta.3 code level, and continue with 9239090 (12.1.3 pack patch)?
Thanks in advance for the help.

Please follow note 1080973.1 and perform all patching on the forms, web and database tiers. There are a number of patches to apply to meet the requirements to upgrade.
Please follow R12.1 Oracle Financials Critical Patches note 954704.1 for post install critical patches on top of 12.1.3.
You will also need to follow support note HRMS (HR Global) Legislative Data Patch 145837.1 if implemented.
If you use Patch Wizard then you will need to apply patch 10629956. Please review New Required Patches for Patch Wizard, Patch Manager, and Oracle Application Change Management Pack note 1267768.1.
For best results and all steps recommended by support, please download the Maintenance Wizard tool. This tool will automate most of the upgrade steps and guide you step by step, only applying patches that are required for your installation.

  • What happened to camera roll and photo stream with newest IOS upgrade?

I have upgraded my iPad 3 to the newest IOS release, but not my iPhone so far.  I noticed that Camera Roll and Photo Stream are still available on my iPhone but not on the iPad.  What happened?

the he firet versions of iOS 8 replaced the PhotoStream and Camera Roll albums with the Recently Added album. The Recently Added album contains photos for thirty days then moves them to the Photo Collections area. This definitely caught many people by surprise. Apple announced on October 16th that the next update of iOS 8 which will be 8.1 will bring back the Camera Roll. 8.1 is scheduled to be available October 20 according to Apple.

  • Can I disable plugin-container.exe in 20.0.1 and still stream video?

When I try to stream TV shows with Firefox, I receive high Firefox disc usage warnings from my Norton antivirus. I believe this is due to the gigantic plugin-container.exe that Firefox apparently runs the Flash player inside of. When I look at it in Taskmaster plugin-container has been using 150 k + after just a few minutes and continues to go higher the longer I watch. If I continue to watch without doing anything, eventually the video begins to stutter and then stops while the sound keeps playing. My system slows down to the point where it takes 5 min to stop the player after clicking the control, and a half hour for my system to process the commands to shut down Firefox and restart.
I've been able to work around this by putting the AV into extended Silent Mode to save CPU and by closing the browser after each and every episode, then reopening it again. Obviously this isn't an optimal solution.
I tried shutting down plugin-container using the Taskmaster but this also killed my video. When I closed the window and restarted the video, the plug-in-container came back. In this current version of Flash 20.0.1 is there a way to disable it forever that will also allow me to stream video? IE8 didn't play nice with web pages but Firefox isn't playing nice with video streaming. Is there a fix that doesn't involve a new PC?

Thanks for the ideas and suggestions. We know the problem isn't with Flash because I was running it without huge background files or lock-up up while using IE8.
Installing an older version of Flash isn't an option because newer versions resolve some of the memory usage and flickering problem that older Flash versions caused on the new Hulu site. Some sites also require the newest patch and return an error message if an older version is detected.
I'm not sure what protected Flash mode does or doesn't do and hate to mess around with Flash when we already know it's been running without issues on my system using the other browser.
What I DO know is that the problem only started occurring when I made the switch from IE8 to Firefox. This weekend I had it happen again when I only had Firefox open and the Norton AV running out of Silent Mode in the background. Only the Flash thumbnails on the Hulu home page were active, not the Flash player and I started to get slowdown and lose mouse control.
I posted the issue over on the Norton forum also but don't expect a workaround. I think disabling that huge plugin-container file might help. By the time I've watched one video both Firefox and plug-in container are up around 200k each, much, much, much larger than anything else running on my system.
So is disabling plugin-containter still viable? Firefox crashing is never going to happen, if plug-in container freezes up my system first. Continually closing and reopening Firefox as a workaround doesn't seem to be way it was intended to perform.

Re: My Macbook 2009 model was recently upgraded with a new hard drive and upgraded to Mountain Lion OS. I am battling to retrieve all my photos that were ''saved'' in iCloud. Can someone help?

If you are trying to recover photo stream photos, they are only held in iCloud for 30 days.  All you would be able ro recover is photo stream photos from the last 30 days.
If you have an iOS device that still has the photo stream photos one it, you can save them to the camera roll by opening the my photo stream album, tapping Edit, tap the photos, tap Share, tap Save to Camera Roll.  Once in the camera roll, they can be imported to iPhoto on your Mac as explained here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083.

  • IOS 8 and Bluetooth Phone and Audio Streaming Failing

I have a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder and a 2015 Nissan Leaf, both with bluetooth phone integration and audio streaming support.  Both cars worked fine when I had two iPhone 5s paired to both cars and running latest iOS 7.  Both phones worked in both cars and could fully integrate to make calls and also to stream audio from device to car.
When I upgraded one iPhone 5s to iOS 8 and replaced the other with an iPhone 6Plus running iOS 8, both are having problems with both cars.
    1.  Both gave a "failed connection" message but the phones do actually pair.
    2.  Both cars show a phone handset with a line through it on the in-car display which means no connection.
    3.  The "5 bars" cell signal indicator on the in-car display no longer shows up.
    3.  Outgoing calls made from phone and put through car system work fine except for some garbled audio.
    4.  Incoming calls make the wrong screen appear on the nissan display and can not be answered by the display on the car.  Pushing the answer button on the in-car display doesn't do anything.
Lots of other tiny issues.  Apple needs a fix here.  I called Nissan and they said it's 100% Apple's fault.
Anyone else having issues with Nissan Bluetooth integration or any other manufacturer?

We have a 2008 Nissan Sentra - The bluetooth pairs ok.  When a call comes in on my 5S or my wife's 4S the bluetooth does not do anything.  The bluetooth does not ring and it does not connect to the call.  The call has to be answered on the phone.  Like I said, the phones are paired.  You can access Siri through the bluetooth to initiate a call.  Once the call is connecting, the bluetooth drops off and there is no sound.  Just like when you receive a call.  Apple needs to fix this.  This is completely ridiculous.  I WAS going to buy an iPhone 6.  I will not if this is not fixed.

  • Patch for upgrading 10g AS from 10.1.2.0.2 to 10.1.2.1

    Hi All,
I am in process of doing 10g AS integration with 11.5.10.2.
here as per documentation i have seen that this 10g AS has to upgrade
My 10g AS version is 10.1.2.0.2
The below msg is as per Oracle Documentation
If you are running Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2 (10.1.2.0.0) or Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2 (10.1.2.0.1) Standard Edition One, then apply the Oracle Application Server 10.1.2.1 patch before applying Oracle Application Server Portal Upgrade.
I have searched a lot in metalink for patch but no luck
So please let me know the right patch to upgrade my 10g AS from 10.1.2.0.2 to 10.1.2.1
Also any supporting document for this upgrade
    Thanks in advance
    Regards,
    Bhanu Chander.

    I have downloaded patch p5983622_10123_LINUX.zip
and first tried to upgrade infrastructure home
    but while upgrading it says
oracle universal installer has detected that your database is version 10.1.0.4.2 before you can continue you must apply a required database patch set.
But in documentation i have seen
    Supported Database Releases
The portal schema may be residing in an OracleAS Metadata Repository, or in a customer database. The database in which the portal schema resides must be one of the following supported releases:
Oracle Database 10g (10.1.0.4.2) or later
Please let me know what should i do now
    Thanks in advance
    Regards,
Bhanu Chander.yes, because the Infrastructure Database needs to be upgraded. And it is listed in the documentation of the same patch set.
In the Readme file for the patch set 3 (5983622 or p5983622_10123_LINUX) as you mentioned, please see Section 5. Before you begin applying this patch set
    It reads the following:
"5.6 Applying the Oracle Database 10g Release 1 (10.1.0.5) Patch Set
The Oracle Database 10g Release 1 (10.1.0.5) patch set must be applied to all database instances (for both the Identity Management and Metadata Repository installation type and Metadata Repository only installation type) before applying OracleAS 10g Release 2 Patch Set 3. If OracleAS 10g Patch Set 2 (10.1.2.2.0) has been applied previously, then you do not have to apply the database patch."
hope that explains what you need to do. i.e, your infra DB version is 10.1.0.4.2 and needs to be upgraded to 10.1.0.5.

  • Patch to upgrade 10.2.0.1 to 10.2.0.3

    Hi,
I'm upgrading from 9i to 10g from 32 bit Windows to 64 bit Windows system. During the upgrade process I didn't apply any patch and just installed the Oracle Database 10g release 2 (10.2.0.1) and performed the upgrade with the help of Oracle Database Upgrade Assistant. Almost everything is working fine, now I want to upgrade from 10.2.0.1 to 10.2.0.3. Can anybody tell me if it's okay to go ahead and apply "10g Release 2 (10.2.0.3) Patch Set 2 for Microsoft Windows x64 (patch number 5337014)" ?
    Thanks,
    KH

Yes, I'm trying to connect from the same client. There is no error in the patch installation log. And there's no error in the alert log either. On SQL Plus I just get this error whenever I try to connect.
ERROR: ORA-03113: end-of-file on communication channel
The only error I could find on the server was on O/S (windows 2003 server) event viewer and the error is.
Faulting application oracle.exe, version 10.2.0.3, faulting module oracle.exe, version 10.2.0.3, fault address 0x0000000000fe4249.
    Any idea?

  • OEM 10.2.0.1 installation and upgrade to 10.2.0.3

    Dear all,
I want to install the latest version of OEM 10.2.0.3 on Linux RedHat 4. However, after downloading the OEM 10.2.0.3 and reading the release note, I realized that the download is just the 10.2.0.3 upgrade patchset. I have to do a fresh base installation of OEM 10.2.0.1 first. Is this correct?
After installing OEM 10.2.0.1 with an existing 10.2.0.1 database, I need to upgrade OEM 10.2.0.1 to OEM 10.2.0.3 using the patchset I downloaded. Because both OMS and AGENT will be upgraded, I am not sure what installation destination I shoud supply? OMS_HOME, or AGENT_HOME, or just a new home for upgrade? What are the required steps to upgrade OEM 10.2.0.1 to OEM 10.2.0.3?
Are there any documentation or articles that I can follow to do the upgrade?
    Thanks a lot in advanced.
    Xiaoping

There is a README.txt file in the 10.2.0.3 patchset zip file that has the instructions for upgrading 10.2.0.1 OEM to 10.2.0.3.
You download 10.2.0.1 separately which delivers a 10.1.0.4 database. Apply the one-off database patch to the db10g 10.1.0.4 Oracle Home via opatch, then use runInstaller to upgrade to 10.2.0.3 via 3731593. You can optionally create a db10gr2 10.2.0.1 Oracle Home, apply the 10.2.0.3 patchset then run dbua to upgrade the 10.1.0.4 repository database to 10.2.0.3.
You probably would have had fast response posting to the Enterprise Manager Grid Control forum:
    Enterprise Manager
    2. Fresh Installation of Enterprise Manger 10g Grid Control Release 2 and upgrading it to Release 3
In order to install Enterprise Manager 10g Grid Control Release 3, you must install either 10.2.0.1.0 or 10.2.0.2.0 Grid Control environment. This section describes steps to install Enterprise Manager 10g Grid Control Release 3 environment starting with 10.2.0.1.0 (10.2.0.2.0 for Windows) install
2.1 Install Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Release 2
Installing 10g Grid Control Release 3 requires any previous releases of Grid Control, that is any 10.2.x.x.x installation, and upgrade to 10.2.0.3.0 release. If you do not have a previous release, but want to have a 10.2.0.3.0 Grid Control environment, then first install 10.2.0.1.0 Grid Control (10.2.0.2.0 for Windows), and then upgrade it to 10.2.0.3.0. Start with the Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Release 2 Grid Control media pack (DVD) and install 10.2.0.1.0 (10.2.0.2.0 for Windows)
    - Insert DVD into your computer (note: It is better to copy the DVD contents to local hard disk for faster performance)
    - Run runInstaller (setup.exe for Windows) to start installation
    - When asked for "install type" option, choose "Enterprise Manager using New Database" option
    - Complete installation as per install guide
Important: For information about installing 10.2.0.1.0 and 10.2.0.2.0, refer to the installation guides available at:
    http://www.oracle.com/technology/documentation/oem.html
    2.2 Apply required patches
In the case of Grid Control environment installed via "Enterprise Manager using New Database" option, repository database version is 10.1.0.4.0. Before upgrading to 10.2.0.3, apply the patch for bug 4329444 on the Database Home. In order to apply this patch for the Solaris platform:
    - Copy the p4329444_10104_<platform>.zip file from the DVD to any directory on the host which has the repository database running on.
    - Unzip the file using following command:
    $ unzip p4329444_10104_<platform>.zip
    - Follow the instruction in 4329444/README.txt to apply the patch
For more detail on this, refer to the release note.
2.3 Install Oracle Enterprise Manager 10g Release 3
2.3.1 Copy the p3731593_102030_<platform name>.zip patch set installation archive from the DVD to any directory on the host which has the Oracle Management Service running on it.
    2.3.2 Perform the installation
    - Enter the following command to unzip and extract the installation files from the downloaded image described in section 1.2:
    $ unzip p3731593_102030_<platform name>.zip
This extracts the files to the "3731593" directory.
    - Navigate to the 3731593/Disk1 subdirectory
         $ cd 3731593/Disk1
    - Set the ORACLE_HOME variable to the Oracle Management Service(OMS) oracle home.
    - Execute the runInstaller (setup.exe for Windows)
         $ ./runInstaller
The upgrades process then upgrades the Oracle Management Service (OMS), Oracle Management Repository and the Management Agent on the same host as the OMS to the latest Enterprise Manager 10g release 3 version.
Important: The same Patch Set can be used for patching OMS,Repository, and Management Agent. For more detail on installing the patchset, refer to the release note.
2.4 Optional: Upgrading Repository Database to 10.2.0.3
If you installed Grid Control 10.2.0.1.0 (10.2.0.2.0 for Windows) via "Enterprise Manager using New Database" option, your repository database version is 10.1.0.4. In order to upgrade your repository database to 10.2.0.3, follow the steps below after upgrading your Grid Control environment to Enterprise Manager 10g release 3.
    a. Upgrade the database to 10.2.0.1
    b. Install 10.2.0.3 database patchset
