Patching Binaries for JAVA....
Hello guys,
I have installed the NW04 and J2EE for our Xi system.
I have one question about patching binaries. I was going through the note 832005. It talks about some SAR fiels which can be found on market place /swdc (got to Support Packages and Patches section) from OS dependent section of J2EE 6.40. SCS.SAR is not there.
When do I have to do this.
How will I determine the need?
It appears to me there is regular patching also for these files.
Is it like kernel for ABAP system?
How can I find the patching level for this so I can make sure after the upgrade that patching went well.
Thank you very much for all the advices.
Thank you.
SC
Thank you for the reply.
Well I do not want to apply it seperately. I am in impression that we have to apply J2EE binaried always seperate.
Is It done when you apply J2EE patches using SAPInst and note 657763?
But I have a question.
When I installed a J2EE as Add-in using SAPInst, I only provided the path of <b>OS independent J2EE CD</b>. But There was OS dependent CD as well and it has all these SAR files mentioned above in my initial message. So Do I have to apply them manually right after installation?
<b>OR</b>
Just apply J2EE patches right after the install and it will be updated automatically.
<b>But If that is the case,</b>
Then when we are going to apply SCSCLIENT*.SAR (depends upon the system like Unicode or Non-Unocode). It is not mentioned in the one of the four files SAR files we download during the patching of J2EE. Is it also a part of one of these files like SCS.SAR?
Thank you very much for all the support.
Thank you.

Manual patch application for java/xml files
Hi,
I am searching for a utility similar to FNDLOAD (which is used for applying a ldt file on an environment) which i can use if i need to apply a single or multiple java and xml files onto an environment. The environment that i am referring to here is a dev instance and waiting for the patching windows for testing integration with the R12 applications is very time consuming.
Thanks,
AnkitAnkit,
A little bit of clarification here: FNDLOAD is a necessary program which loads flat files as data objects in the system whereas in case of java classes, it requires to be copied. Again, page and region, xml will need the import process for upload to MDS, while VO, EO just needs to be copied.
So in all, you can write a script to copy the relevant java class files and XMLImport command for xml files.

Kernel Patch level in JAVA Engin
Hello All,
I have planned to upgrade the kernel for JAVA engine (Version 640) and checked for the patch level. It appears as release 640 and i am not able to find the patch of the kernel(tried in system info page and jalunch -v option). Later I came through a thread in this forum which stated there is no patch level for Java Kernel. Is this right? If this is right then how do we upgrade the kernel for Java engine
Kindly clarify
Regards,
AnandHi,
In Java, kernel are identified in SPS not in terms of patch level like in ABAP systems. so whatever will your SP stack level of your portal, the same will be the kernel level of your portal.
So if you want to upgrade your portal kernel alone, you cant. You have to upgrade your whole Portal SPS to take your portal on new kernel and SP stack level. Latest SPS Available in the market place is 24 as of today.

PS: Rewarding points will be given for helpful answer.Hi Sunil,
Below are the components you need to install for updating the j2ee server..
ADOBE DOCUMENT SERVICES 7.00
BI META MODEL REPOSITORY 7.00
BI UDI 7.00
DI BUILD TOOL 7.00
J2EE ENGINE BASE TABLES 7.00
J2EE ENGINE CORE TOOLS 7.00
JAVA LOG VIEWER 7.00
JAVA SP MANAGER 7.00
LIFECYCLE MGMT TOOLS 7.00
SAP CAF 7.00
SAP CAF-UM 7.00
SAP IGS 7.00
SAP J2EE ENGINE 7.00
SAP J2EE ENGINE CORE 7.00
SAP JAVA TECH SERVICES 7.00
SAP SOFTW. DELIV. MANAGER 7.00
SAP STARTUP FRAMEWORK 7.00
SAP TECH S 7.00 OFFLINE
SAP VIRUS SCAN INTERFACE 7.00
SAP_IKS_7.00
UME ADMINISTRATION 7.00
First update the JSPM version and then use the updated JSPM to upgrade the above components.
The sequence of installlation will be taken care by
JSPM itself..
There are two suggestions I would like to make.
1. If you upgrade j2ee Engine ,please upgrade other usage types EP , XI etc if any to the same SP level.
2. Please stick on the SP06 as it is the most stable version available with maximum hotfixes as other SP's have lot of problem in some component or the other. From SP07-SP09 none of them are stable and SP10 is relatively new and so bugs also would be new!!..
the follwing is the path in the service market place where u can find all the components listed.
Support Packages and Patches"-->SAP NetWeaver" --> NETWEAVER" -->SAP NETWEAVER 2004S" -->Entry by Component" -->Application Server Java
Hope the above info is usefull...

Daylight Savings Time patch for Java
This DST patch for java has me totally confused. I downloaded and installed tzupdater2006p, which according to the README it was suppose to cover 1.3.1_18 through 1.4 . All went well until I found one the servers, a Solaris 8 one, running 1.3.1_01. I've been searching for a patch for that but can't seem to find one. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
No that looks like the earliest it goes to according to the what it lists. I just did this the other day in support of some vendors application software that we use. If you have a paying account with Sun, perhaps you can open a contact with them.
But here's a caveat ... after I had applied that patch to my Java, the vendor told me that they won't support it - that is, they did not test using it, and so recommended upgrading to 1.4.2_12. You might want to explore that possibility on your side too.

ALERT - Support for Java Critical Patch Update
ALERT - Support for Java Critical Patch Update
On October 15th, Java released a critical patch update (CPU) which will require download and upgrade to the Java Runtime Environment (JRE) release – 1.7.0_45. If upgrading the JRE to this release, the P6 module (also known as Web Access) of the P6 EPPM product line and the Contract Management product, which utilize LiveConnect applets in the browser, will start generating one or more prompts. To remediate these prompts for the P6 EPPM Web Access module and the Contract Management product, Oracle Primavera will be releasing fixpacks. Until fixpacks become available, you can use the following workaround to suppress these prompts: Select the 'Allow' Prompt or 'Yes' prompt for successful loading of applets. Note: This prompt will occur for each applet.
For more information, please refer to the following KM Documents in My Oracle Support.
For P6 (Web Access), refer to KM Document ID 1591925.1
For Contract Management, refer to KM Document ID 1592535.1I found the answer to my own question. For any newbies out there, if you create an account with Oracle, that is not enough to download patches. You have to have an Oracle Customer Support Identifier associated with your account. Once you have a CSI that you obtain through your employer who has paid for support or through some other means, you then can go into My Oracle Support and enter a request to be added to the given CSI. That request goes into a pending state until the administrator of the CSI grants you privileges to download patches. (NOTE: You might have to bug someone within your organization to get this to happen.) For me, once I was given the privilege, the link worked as it should.

When will Apple release a patched version of Java JRE 6 for Snow Leopard?
When will Apple release a patched version of Java JRE 6 for Snow Leopard?
Hello:
No one here can answer that question. We are all users. Apple may or may not do anything about Java in the future.

How to print line numbers in NWDS for Java?
Hi everyone,
does someone know how to print out program code with line numbers from the Netweaver Developer Studio for Java? This is inevitable for code reviews.
In Eclipse 3.4 this issue is solved. Is there possibly such a patch for NWDS as well?
Thanks,
MariaHi Pascal,
thanks for the quick reply. The setting you mention displays line numbers on the screen alright, but printing out does not work.
We use: SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio for SAP NetWeaver 7.1 SP06 PAT0000, Build id: 200807051938.
I guess it just does not work, because it was fixed only for Eclipse 3.4, and the above NWDS version bases on Eclipse 3.3.
What do you recommend for code inspections - copy/paste into PSPad or do you know a more comfortable practice?
Greetings
Maria -

XML Parser for Java version 2.0.2.9
I can no longer find the XML parser for Java (version 2.0.2.9) for Sun Solaris and Oracle version 8.1.7.3. This would be the file xmlparserv2.jar for parser version 2.0.2.9
This file support the latest Oracle Applications work flow version and so is necessary but does not seem to be available. All notes on Metalink point to Techweb.
Thanks for your help. -Erik StromholtThis is covered by patch for bug 2199206. Thanks

Upgrading Oracle XML Parser for Java v9.0.4 with Oracle Applications 11i
Guys, I applied ATG.PF.H.RUP4. In postinstall steps it is mentioned,Upgrading Oracle XML Parser for Java v9.0.4 with Oracle Applications 11i(doc-271148.1)
which says after applying patch 4038964 do the following--
AUTOCONFIG ENABLED APPLICATIONS ENVIRONMENT
If the Oracle E-Business Suite configuration files are maintained using the AutoConfig infrastructure, proceed with the following:
1. Run the AutoConfig utility.
2. Go to [JAVA_TOP].
3. Run the unzip -l appsborg2.zip | grep 9.0.4 command. If there is a file named as .xdkjava_version_9.0.4.0.0_production, which indicates that XML Parser for Java v9.0.4 is installed correctly as part of appsborg2.zip. Otherwise, run ADAdmin to regenerate the appsborg2.zip file.
4. Restart the application tier server processes such that the new version of Oracle XML Parser for Java will take effect.
but actually the patch is already applied- 4038964. How do i verify if i need to do these steps or not.
The xmlparserv2-904.zip file is already there in wrapper.classpath. of jserv.properties, forms.properties. So i think i dont need to do these steps.unzip -l appsborg2.zip | grep 9.0.4
0 04-18-03 20:10 .xdkjava_version_9.0.4.0.0_production
do i still need to do that step? No, you do not have to since "XML Parser for Java v9.0.4" is already installed as part of appsborg2.zip
