Patching Spore for Mac
Ok, been having problems with updating Spore on my Macbook Pro. I run the patcher and it gets to installing the patch but it then tells me that I have to re-install Spore and run the patch again. I have done this multiple times but with no result.
I bought the Cute and Creepy parts pack today and just tried installing it and found that it comes with patch 2. Great! I thought it would install from there at least. But no, same problem.
Does anyone know why this isn't working?
It very frustrating as I have an add-on that I can't use.
Thanks
Chris
Right I managed to find a solution.
I deleted Spore from the applications folder, then re-installed it into another folder on my desktop. Not in the applications folder!
Then BEFORE I ran Spore at all, I installed the Cute and Creepy parts pack. The parts pack comes with both patch 1 and 2, it took forever to install them, but eventually it did and then installed the parts pack.
Then I ran Spore from the desktop, it found that it needed to install the 3rd patch and did so. Again taking a long time about it. Then booted up the game and all was ok
I don't know if it was a combination of moving the install folder and using the parts pack to install the patches or just needing to move the install folder.
Also, the speed might be down to my Mac which is being slow at the moment.
Anyway, this worked for me so it should work for others.

Photoshop Elements 9.0.2 patch released for MAC users
A patch has been released for Photoshop Elements 9 to fix some import from iPhoto issues.
The patch can be downloaded from http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/detail.jsp?ftpID=4918 link.
One should be able to import media from iPhoto'011 after the patch has been applied. The application hang issue should also not come while importing a large iPhoto'09 catalog into Organizer.
The patch can also be applied from Adobe Application Manager via Help>Updates.
The patch has also fixed an issue for MAC Leopard. More details about this issue can be read through @ http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/885/cpsid_88567.html.

Outlook 2011 for Mac Exchange 2010 asking for credentials after Patch Tuesday March 2015
Up till this past Tuesday when Microsoft released its new security patches, I had all my Outlook 2011 for Mac working just fine. Since the release of March 2015, we have heard of issues resulting in Outlook problems with a certain security patches blocking
connectivity. We are carrying Exchange 2010 with SP3 roll up 7. This is only happening on my macs. I have uninstalled the patch in question but the problem persists. Can anyone please shed some light as to what I can do?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance...
CarlosHi Carlos,
This forum is for general questions and feedback related to Outlook for Windows. Since the problematic account can work well in Outlook 2010 with Windows 7 but not in Outlook for Mac 2011, I suggest we can ask a question in

Beautiful part of the world! I have under Date and Time in System Preference marked as such
Date and Time South Asia (have set automatically unticked)
Then Time Zone set for Australian Eastern Daylight saving time
Melbourne - Australia (I'm in Ballarat)
With set time automatically up the top unticked
They are the settings I have always used and my computers have always reverted to and from Daylight savings (except of course I'm in Queensland, Then I have to reset my location and remember to set it back.
Other than that if may come down to trashing your pref file for date and time.

I'm not aware of any being for sale and if there are it's a scam. bash is free software provided to Apple and many other computer software developers.
If you are still running Snow Leopard and you feel the need to patch bash, you will have to compile it for yourself.
Note that Apple is on record as saying:
The vast majority of OS X users are not at risk to recently reported bash vulnerabilities," an Apple spokesperson told iMore. "Bash, a UNIX command shell and language included in OS X, has a weakness that could allow unauthorized users to remotely gain control of vulnerable systems. With OS X, systems are safe by default and not exposed to remote exploits of bash unless users configure advanced UNIX services. -
Hi, I having some problems with halo for mac. I have a intel duel core mac with windows installed. I have been playing halo for some time now, but about 3 weeks ago I quit for a week. In this time I installed America's Army (the game developed by the US military) and also anti-virus for windows. When I started halo up again about 2 weeks ago, it wouldn't work! It would start for about 10 seconds, then "quit unexpectedly"! I know I'm not the only one who has had this problem, but I still need help!
Here is the programing error.... thing (I don't know what it is, really)

Mac OS X (10.4.7)Hey, I downloaded the intel version. Everything went smoothly, except the new halo app doesn't recognize the game CD! I tried both CD's, the burn and the original, and it doesn't recognize either. Amazingly, though, the original halo app works now! (for now anyway, we'll see after i download the patches).
I have no idea what I did (I deleted some Divx stuff, which was mentioned in a thread with a similar problem), but it works now! Thank you for helping me, you guys, and if I have this problem again, I'll know where to get help! -
I am using Acrobat XI Pro and tried to install the current update. I got this error message: "Error 1328.Error applying patch to file C:\Config.Msi\pT64b3.tmp It has probably been updated by other means1 and can no longer be modified by this patch. For more information contact your patch vendor." tried uninstalling and reinstalling and still get the error. Searched for C:\Config.Msi\pT64b3.tmp and cannot find the path or the file
For AA XI, you only need the 11.0.09 patch. Download from http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/product.jsp?product=1&platform=Windows (Use "MAC" if a MAC is used).

Is anybody use LR with Photoshop Elements 6 for Mac ?
I've just bought Photoshop Elements 6 for Mac on a PM G5 (OS 10.5.2). PSE works but LR don't find it as external editor. I have done what is the Knowledge Base, I've deleted all adobe products (and all related files in /Library an home/Library) and reinstall only PSE 6 and LR 1.3.1 .
In KB, they tell that LR uses a com.adobe.Photoshop.Elements.plist but PSE 6 creates a com.adobe.PhotoshopElements.plist (without a dot between Photoshop and Elements). I've tried to duplicates this file but that does not work.
I don't understand why LR does not provide a way to specify where Photoshop (or Elements) is. I don't know what to do now.For some reason Adobe decided to change the bundle name for the PSE6 application from com.adobe.photoshop.elements to com.adobe.PhotoshopElements. This change is also reflected in the Preferences file names.
Lightroom (1.3.1 and 1.4) seem to use the MacOS core services to find PSE - but use the com.adobe.photoshop.elements (and com.adobe.photoshop for full PS) bundle names.
The immediate fix, if you're handy with a hex editor, is to go into the Lightroom application bundle, find the file AgEditExternally.lua and patch the string "com.adobe.photoshop.elements" in the file so it becomes "com.adobe.PhotoshopElements" (remember a null terminator and make a copy of the file first!).
If that's Greek to you then either live with it and wait for an official fix or set up Elements 6 as the 'Additional External Editor'. -
Hello,
where can i download the updates from Acrobat Pro 9 for Mac? I purchased the software a few years ago and ha dot reinstall it. It was possible for me to download the main program, but i can not find the updates up to version 9.5.5. I would need all updates.
Since the updates are not available from your site anymore, is it possible to give me a download link for that?
Thank you
KaiI am happy to find this posting as I too am reinstalling and the installer came without Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro - which was originally included with the CS5 Web Design suite. I found the FTP site and tried downloading a few but they all seem to be patch installer and not Acrobat 9. Can anyone specify the exact URL for the right file?
NEED THE MAC VERSION. This ongoing thread has a lot of people suggesting how to get a windows version. -

Norton Utilities 6.0
No! No! No! Norton Utilities lost its lustre with Mac OS 8.1. Ever since then, its Disk Doctor and Speed Tools/Disk have caused more headaches in hard drive issues than the combined effects of dropped hard drives, magnets, and power surges. If you use these utilities on any system newer than Mac OS 8.0, beware, it is Russian Roulette how long your machine will stay safe. Backup your data frequently before using any of these utilities.
Apple SCSI Card Patch - Apple Atto SCSI Card Hack
If you have a SCSI card, sure, but not everyone running 9 uses SCSI. Remember, the first non-SCSI Mac was an 8.1 machine, the original iMac G3/233.
Motorola MathLib Update
Never had this, never needed it.
DivX Doctor 2.2
DivX has created issues for some people using some Quicktime software.
Iomega Tools IomegaWare English 8.6 - 9.x
If using a zip drive, be careful with this, as sometimes it actually fails to work properly.
OpenDoc
Only needed if you are going to use Cyberdog.
XPostFacto 4 - Mac OS X Boot
Only needed if you are going to install an unsupported version of Mac OS X. Has nothing to do with Mac OS 9.
.smi files are disk images for specific software installers. On their own, they do you no good. If the installer has a document inside them, be sure to drag it to the appropriate place if it isn't itself an installer application.

Where to start with a licensing server for Mac and Windows
Hi all,
We have quite a mixture of OSX and Windows across the hundreds of computers we are running. We are on a volume key for all the CS3 products we buy but we still deploy them manually on a MAC but use specops (AD deployment) for the PC). There are some patches now for CS3 and for the MAC we would need to deploy it manually to a large number of machines.
What I want to do is a) set up a server for deploying software and managing the licenses and b) deploying packages for patches or getting the machines to connect to a deployment server.
I have been looking around the Adobe site but I can't find anything that outlines what I need to do to get started with this.
Thanks for any info that can be provided.
StevenLikely your best option is to go for some 3rd party software.
As for license tracking you could look into license statistics:

All downloaded updates to Acrobat X Pro for Mac OS X fail
Here's the first error line from the log:
./preinstall: AcroPatchInstall:ERROR: Could not create intermediate file /tmp/com.adobe.acrobat.viewer.updater/AppPath. Installation failure.
How can I recover from this error and install Acrobat X Pro for Mac OS X version 10.1.? Thanks.Hi,
Just to be sure here, are you directly trying to install Acrobat 10.1 patch. Do you have Acrobat X (10.0 or any patched version till 10.0.3) installed on your system. 10.1 Patch can only be applied if you have Acrobat X (10.0 or any patched version till 10.0.3) already installed on your system.
Also known issues on Acrobat (http://kb2.adobe.com/cps/877/cpsid_87775.html) says Acrobat can not be installed on case sensitive volume. Is your boot volume case sensitive?
Can you share the entire install log with us. It could be found at "/var/log/install.log".
Thanks,

Installing "Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 6" (1.0) causing problems
Hi,
I installed the "Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 6" (1.0)" yesterday evening and it caused problems:
- network
- date/time screwed up
- Time Machine crashed
My environment is a MacBook Pro, running 10.5.8, all latest patches applied. During the install all other applications were closed (my once in three months cleanup of the desktop , Time Machine was not running although it might have kicked in during the download, I left it alone for install and the necessary reboot. I didn't hook it up to the power, had 82% battery left, afterwards (after all repairs) still 76%, so my guess is that is not the root cause, although I did get the power source warning and waved it away during the installs.
Looking back into the logfiles and using some gut-feeling I do think somehow the date/time seeting was screwed up and caused all other problems. The date was reset to the famous Unix starttime, Jan 1, 1970. At first I didn't notice, only after my network (Airport Extreme based) asked me WPA password and then complained about the date/time I noticed something weird.
After resetting date/time, verifying the disk for problems (none found), re-entering the WPA password, network ran again, had to re-connect with the Time Capsule and check the sparse backup-volume there before I got everything up-and-running again.
Not a very big deal, but annoying, and certainly something wrong in the update here.
Anyone any explains ?
Regards,
Wim.Sorry if I missed it...have you scoured logs for anything that might shed light on success/fail during the install?

Maverick: doc saving function in Word for Mac
I just downloaded Maverick for my 2010 iMac. I'm happy with it but for one problem: saving documents in my Word for Mac 2008 is a royal pain.
Instead of the good old one-step save process under Snow Leopard's Word for Mac, Word/Maverick now requires a three-step save process: a "Save as" window followed by a "Replace" window and sometimes followed by a window saying "X doc already exists. Would you like to replace it?"
Well, duh. Anyone else having this problem? Any fixes for it? I looked for a patch from Microsoft but no luck.
Thanks and Happy New Year.Hi,
