Path disappearing when holding down mouse

Hello everyone!
I have come across a quite irksome issue with Illustrator. It may be a matter of preferences, but I somehow doubt it.
When I use the pen tool to create a new path, the path seems to disappear whenever I hold down the left mouse button to adjust the curve of the anchor point of just add a new one.
Attached below is the picture of the problem, I sincerely hope someone will be able to help me since the issue has been draining the life out of me!
Left: What the entire path looks like when i'm dragging out another point
Right: what it looks like after I release left mouse button - I'd very much like for the entire path to appear during the entire creation process
Thanks,
Lunar Sky

Yep, CS3 is the earliest version I have on this box and it works the same there.

I have moved my itunes library from old computer to portable hard drive and then on, into new laptop, in music file. However I am then unable to open I-Tunes when holding down the shift button as directed in step 4 - this means I am not seeing the library choice box and cannot synch the tunes into ITunes library - any tips please?........Alan

Close iTunes. Click the icon to launch iTunes and immediately press and hold down the left shift key. Keep holding until prompted to choose or create a library. If iTunes opens normally, close it,  and try again.

  • HT1310 Even when holding down the option key during the restart, I can't get the flashing file icon to go away

I have tried numerous times to restart my macbook pro to get to the startup manager. And even when holding down the option key, it will just take me back to the flashing file with a question mark in it. If anyone can help, I'd sincerely appreciate it.

Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks without erasing drive
    Boot to the Recovery HD:
Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    Repair
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported then click on the Repair Permissions button. When the process is completed, then quit DU and return to the main menu.

It is a panel that pops up and the heading on the panel is 'Universal Access', it is actually just an image of a panel, you can't access it.  I have checked keyboard shortcuts and none of them are assigned to the command key only

  • Netinstall images not showing up when holding down option key at startup

    Hi,
I have setup two Netinstall images on my 10.5.5 server. On the clients I can see the two images via the 'Startup Disk' tab in System Preferences. But the images are not showing up when holding down the option key at startup. As I am getting ready to deploy to two labs of new iMacs, I would like to be able to get the Option key at Startup method to work as per the documentation.
Any ideas why these images are not showing up as they should?

I am having this problem on a 10.5.5 NetBoot server too. I can NetBoot clients by selecting a network volume in System Preferences > Startup Disk, but I can not see the network volumes when option-booting. I am having problems NetBooting while holding down the N-key too. The funny thing is that it works on new Intel iMacs, but not on Mac Pro1.1 (even with the latest firmware updates). NetBooting the Mac Pro works fine when selecting a NetBoot volume in System Preferences > Startup Disk.
Does anybody have a solution? Is this a problem with Leopard Server 10.5.5?
I am running DeployStudio Server v1.0rc9, and the NetInstall set is made with DeployStudio Assistant.
Everything looks right with my bootpd.plist and log file.

  • IMac 21.5 inch mid 2011 white screen when I wake it,  holding down mouse button and sweeping the screen restores the desktop.  Any one else had this and what was the solution?

When the Mac is awaken from sleep mode the screen is white.  I can hold the mouse button down and sweep the screen and the desktop reappears and everything works as normal..This just started and I am concerned that some hardware, video card or video memory is failing.  Has anyone else had this problem and what was the solution?

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, or by a peripheral device.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem.  Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Post for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • Does Magic Mouse still eject CDs at Startup when holding down?

Now that the mouse that comes with the new iMac 21.5 and 27" are wireless Magic Mouse, will they still force eject a CD at startup if you hold the mouse button down at startup time? I always thought that is why Apple still sent wired mice and keyboards with new iMacs but it appears now at least the mice shipped are wireless while the keyboard remains a wired one if you get the extended keyboard.
Just curious if wireless magic mouse will eject a cd at startup.
    tj

Even before the current iMac, you could order your iMac with only a wireless mouse and wireless keyboard, as extra cost options; then you would not have received a wired mouse or keyboard with the new iMac.
The startup key presses should work, as long as that wireless keyboard has already been paired with the iMac. They come paired from the factory. I've not specifically read that the mouse button press works too, but I'd guess that it does, since the keyboard startup keys do work.
(I guess someone who has a new iMac with Magic Mouse can give it a try... )
If it does not, you can start up with the Option key held down to get Startup Manager. At that screen, press the Eject key on the keyboard.

  • Disc stuck in drive, holding down mouse button doesn't work!

My G4 is very ill, and there is a DVD stuck in the drive. Normally, I would hold down the mouse button while restarting, but my startup sequence is quitting before the G4 reboots. How can I manually remove the disc, so that I can run some diagnostics off of a startup disc?

    Push harder.

  • Iphoto ver 8.1.2 unable to open iphoto. can hold down mouse button and 1 page of iphoto will open. click anywhere on screen and iphoto closes

Cannot open iPhoto. It's on the toolbar, but will not open. I can hold the mouse over the icon and hold the mouse button down and iPhoto will open to a thumbnail photo, but if I click anywhere on the page, iPhoto closes. iPhoto shows open on top of page, but practically all selectable items are gray.

It sounds like the window might have slipped down below the Dock or similar. Try change your screen resolution and (SystemPreferneces -> Displays) and that should force it back into reach. The return the resolution to whatever it was.

  • White screen of death but can see screen when hold down power button?

I've had my iPod Touch 4g for a few months (in December it will be a year) and for the past two months, I haven't been able to use it because of the white screen of death. I tried reseting it, restoring it (which didn't work because of error 1394 or something like that) and NOTHING seemed to work. Today, I decided to try restoring it again, and it worked!...for all of two hours.
Now I have the white screen of death but it shows the screen if I lightly hold down the power button (not enough that it clicks).
I've tried restoring it again, but it stays the same- white screen of death that shows the screen when I lightly hold down the power button.
    Can anyone help me :\

  • Holding down mouse in Pen tool drops a new point

I am using the pen tool to trace around an object that has curves. If I click and hold down my mouse for like a second, trying to figure out the best curvature, PS creates a new anchor point right there. This doesn't happen on my PC - only on my Mac. Not surprised there. Does anyone know why this may be happening. I know it seems like a small deal, but it's just another little glitch that seem to pop up more frequently on my Mac vs my PC. Thanks

Mr. Katz was talking about the fact that there are two tools housed in the toolbox at the pen location: The Pen tool and the Freeform Pen tool. And if you happen to be using the latter, the options bar offers a toggle for magnetic operation. I was just making sure you were using the former.

  • Doesn't boot up to reinstall when holding down cmd R

    Hi,
    I followed the instructions:
"Important: You need to be connected to the Internet to reinstall Mac OS X. Choose Apple menu > Restart, and then hold down the Command (⌘) and R keys while the computer restarts."
But instead of "Language Chooser appears" it boots up to login page.
I have tried a few times now! Does any know another way to get around this or another command to boot from?
    Thanks

If you are using a Bluetooth keyboard, timing is everything.
    Try the following:
    1.  Select restart from the menu.  Wait until you hear the start up
chime.  Then press the key combination before the chime ends.
    2.  Shut down the iMac.  Power up and watch for the little green LED
on the keyboard to come on.  As soon as it goes out, press the key
         combination.
    3.  Shut down the iMac.  Press the power button on the keyboard.  Start
the iMac and when the LED on the keyboard goes out, press the key
          combination.
    4.  If you have an old USB keyboard laying around, use it for this
         instance.
As I said, timing is critical.  Wait to long or start to soon and the
    normal boot process takes over.

  • Is there a way to disable the slow animation effect when holding down the shift key?

Holding down shift at the same time with a shortcut (for example like Control + arrow for Mission Controll) makes the animation run with a slow motion effect. I would like to disable this setting as this collides with other keyboard shortcuts for some apps I've been using. I can't find this option in the keyboard section of the Preferences pane, and using the command 'defaults write com.apple.finder FXEnableSlowAnimation -bool NO' in the terminal doesn't work either. Is there a way to do this?

I tried the terminal command as well and didn't get it to work. Does anyknow how to do this now? I'm in ML.
