Path in Search results

How can I see the full path under File when doing a search of
a site or folder?
Seeing the file name and folder it is in is not all that
helpful when you have lots of other directories with the same named
sub directories and files.
A search shows them all the same and you never know which one
you should open.

Double click on the hit, and look at the path to the file
using the Code
view widget?

  • 10.9.2 Spotlight - No 'Path' revealed in search results?

    After upgrade from 10.6.8 to 10.9.2, when using Spotlight, there is no 'Path' when highlighting a search result like in 10.6.8.
    Can this be turned on or is that the way of 10.9.2?
    Thanx.

    Another shortcut -- hold the Command key and click on the desired item, a Finder window opens with the item highlighted.

  • Retrieving the Full Path of the Document / Folder in Search results

    Hello,
    We have a custom portlet to perform search in knowledge directory. We are able to retrieve the results from knowledge directory and would like to know on one enhancement feature.
    Would like to know if it is possible to retrieve the directory structure / path of the document / folder. Something like "\Knowledge Directory\Customer Service\...." I have seen this path come up in search results when using Portal Admin. Not sure if it is available when using the idk.dll
    Below is a sample code in C#. Would you know if there is a way I can retrieve the directory strcuture. If so, what method would give me that value? I tried GetURL, but that gives me the URL of the document http://portal/.....as compared to the path.
    =====
    using Plumtree.Remote.Portlet;
    using Plumtree.Remote.PRC;
    using Plumtree.Remote.PRC.Search;
    //Establishing Session with Portal
    IRemoteSession session = RemoteSessionFactory.GetExplicitLoginContext(new Uri(portletPortalAPIPref), username, password);
    ISearchFactory searchFactory = session.GetSearchFactory();
    searchRequest = searchFactory.CreatePortalSearchRequest();
    searchRequest.SetQuery(txtSearchText.Text);
                //Setting up the Search Parameters – Objects to Search, Order By, Number of Results
      ObjectClass[] objectTypes = { ObjectClass.Document, ObjectClass.DocumentFolder };
      searchRequest.SetObjectTypesToSearch(objectTypes);
       searchRequest.SetResultsOrderBy(PlumtreeField.NAME);
       searchRequest.SetOrderAscending(true);
      searchRequest.SetResultsCount(0, RecordCount);
    //Executing the Search
    searchResponse = searchRequest.Execute();
    resultSet = searchResponse.GetResultSet();
      //iterate through the results
    IEnumerator resultsfolder = resultSet.GetResults();
    while (resultsfolder.MoveNext())
                        IPortalSearchResult result = (IPortalSearchResult)resultsfolder.Current;
    Convert.ToString(result.GetRank() + 1);
    result.GetIconURL().ToString();
    result.GetURL().ToString();
    result.GetName().ToString();
    result.GetExcerpt().ToString();
    result.GetLastModified().ToString();
    result.GetClassID().ToString();
    result.GetObjectID().ToString();

    Have you tried getting the extended data and the Parent Folder ID. (Plumtree.Remote.PRC.IExtendedData)
    Using an additional object search to get the Path for the Parent Folder ID.
    Here is a snippet that may help
    Plumtree.Remote.PRC.IObjectManager objectManager = session.GetObjectManager(Plumtree.Remote.PRC.ObjectClass.<your class to return>);
    Plumtree.Remote.PRC.IObjectQueryRow qResults = objectManager.QuerySingleObject(<id of object to return>);
    if (qResults != null)
        Plumtree.Remote.PRC.IExtendedData ied = qResults.GetExtendedData();
        if (ied != null)
           sResult =  ied.GetStringValue(<property you want to return>);

  • Search results web part, path and query problem

    Hi
    I am updating a search web part and I want to show results from a specific site, I m using "path" to filter results, results are being returned correctly but now query I type in search is getting ignored. for example if I type "zxcvbn" I
    still get all results from that specific site. If I remove "path" filter I see proper results.
    Can I edit web part query to include "path" and "query" I type in search box?

    Hi Shafaqat,
    Thanks for sharing the solution which will benefit others who have the same issue.

  • Display folder path in the search result page

    Hi,
    I learnt that to customise the search results page, we need to change the SearchResultLayout set . Is there a command that I can add to the "command list" to display the folder/file path in the search results. Any suggestions in this regard is highly appreciated.

  • Trying to search on Google, or to access a search result, often crashes my Firefox. This has gone on for months. When will you fix it?

    The report tab says my OS is Windows NT, but it's actually XP Home. (Yes, that's how old my computer is -- and that's why I'm looking for a solution other than just trying to see how updated a version of Firefox the computer can handle.)
    The problem doesn't happen every time I try to search Google (or every time I succeed in getting to a page of search results and try accessing one of them). But it happens quite a lot, and often multiple times in succession. And when I try to use Crash Reporter to tell you, I get one of two responses:
    (1) the standard autobot-reply suggesting an upgrade and this path; or, more often,
    (2) nothing.
    I don't want to abandon you -- and it would be hard to replace the computer at the moment. So what (to coin a phrase) can Mozilla do for me?
    [UPDATE: The troubleshooter program won't install -- says it's not compatible with my old version of Firefox (3.6.20, says the About option in the Help menu). And the "show details" link at the bottom of this page won't reveal your "educated guesses about [my] current browser and operating system", so I can't do more to correct them -- sorry.]

    Hmm . . . I think maybe the CPU is okay, but I would appreciate any time and effort you folks could spare to confirm my work.
    Wikipedia lists a "3300+" model twice in its article on Sempron processors. One is a "Socket A (Socket 462)" model named Barton and with a listed 130ns speed. The other is a "Socket 754" model named Palermo with a listed 90ns speed. The latter sounded familiar, but my left hand has worn off anything readable from the sticker next to the "mouse area" so I couldn't confirm it that way.
    Checking the properties of the CPU (through my hardware configuration) revealed an interesting ID string which suggested my CPU was "family 15 model 44". And re-searching for that (via Yahoo, since I couldn't risk another Google crash) brought me to a late-2009 AMD Processors forum entry where some other expert answered a question by identifying that family and model as "AMD Sempron64 socket 754, e.g Sempron 2600+, Sempron 2800+, including all latest core stepping versions of desktop model Semprons, socket 754."
    If that's correct, and I've followed along the road properly, then my CPU is also in that family, and in that socket -- which would mean it '''was''' one of the processors built to work with SSE2. And that, in turn, would mean it should be able to run the v21 of Firefox you mention -- right?
    I don't know how much slower or faster v21 may be -- and I won't want to dump even the Mozilla-abandoned v3.6.20 until I see what if any side-effects there may be. But maybe there's an end in sight.
    (If you have any hints for me on this score, I would appreciate them. Likewise if you have any idea why it took months of Reporting Crashes before I got any response at all, even from the autobot. But most of all, I would greatly appreciate your help in getting over what may be the final obstacle to finding out if it's possible for me and my old PC to run v21 . . . and in finding out what choices I have if that '''''doesn't''''' work.)

  • ADFS SSO and SharePoint 2013 on-premise Hybrid outbound search results from SharePoint Online - does it work?

    Hi,
    I want to setup an outpund hybrid search for SharePoint 2013 on-premise to SharePoint Online.
    But I'm not shure if this works with ADFS SSO.
    Has somebody experience with this setup?
    Here's my guide which I'm going to use for this installation:
    Introduction
    In this post I'll show you how to get search results from your SharePoint Online in your SharePoint 2013 on-premise search center.
    Requirements
    User synchronisation ActiveDirectory to Office 365 with DirSync
    DirSync password sync or ADFS SSO
    SharePoint Online
    SharePoint 2013 on-premise
    Enterprise Search service
    SharePoint Online Management Shell
    Instructions
    All configuration will be done either in the Search Administration of the Central Administration or in the PowerShell console of your on-premise SharePoint 2013 server.
    Set up Sever to Server Trust
    Export certificates
    To create a server to server trust we need two certificates.
    [certificate name].pfx: In order to replace the STS certificate, the certificate is needed in Personal Information Exchange (PFX) format including the private key.
    [certificate name].cer: In order to set up a trust with Office 365 and Windows Azure ACS, the certificate is needed in CER Base64 format.
    First launch the Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager
    Select your SharePoint web server and double-click Server Certificates
    In the Actions pane, click Create Self-Signed Certificate
    Enter a name for the certificate and save it with OK
    To export the new certificate in the Pfx format select it and click Export in the Actions pane
    Fill the fields and click OK Export to: C:\[certificate
    name].pfx Password: [password]
    Also we need to export the certificate in the CER Base64 format. For that purpose make a right-click on the certificate select it and click on View...
    Click the Details tab and then click Copy to File
    On the Welcome to the Certificate Export Wizard page, click Next
    On the Export Private Key page, click Next
    On the Export File Format page, click Base-64 encoded X.509 (.CER), and then click Next.
    As file name enter C:\[certificate
    name].cer and then click Next
    Finish the export
    Import the new STS (SharePoint Token Service) certificate
    Let's update the certificate on the STS. Configure and run the PowerShell script below on your SharePoint server.
    if(-not (Get-PSSnapin "Microsoft.SharePoint.PowerShell" -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue)){Add-PSSnapin "Microsoft.SharePoint.PowerShell"}
    # set the cerficates paths and password
    $PfxCertPath = "c:\[certificate name].pfx"
    $PfxCertPassword = "[password]"
    $X64CertPath = "c:\[certificate name].cer"
    # get the encrypted pfx certificate object
    $PfxCert = New-Object System.Security.Cryptography.X509Certificates.X509Certificate2 $PfxCertPath, $PfxCertPassword, 20
    # import it
    Set-SPSecurityTokenServiceConfig -ImportSigningCertificate $PfxCert
    Type Yes when prompted with the following message.
    You are about to change the signing certificate for the Security Token Service. Changing the certificate to an invalid, inaccessible or non-existent certificate will cause your SharePoint installation to stop functioning. Refer
    to the following article for instructions on how to change this certificate: http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkID=178475. Are you
    sure, you want to continue?
    Restart IIS so STS picks up the new certificate.
    & iisreset
    & net stop SPTimerV4
    & net start SPTimerV4
    Now validate the certificate replacement by running several PowerShell commands and compare their outputs.
    # set the cerficates paths and password
    $PfxCertPath = "c:\[certificate name].pfx"
    $PfxCertPassword = "[password]"
    # get the encrypted pfx certificate object
    New-Object System.Security.Cryptography.X509Certificates.X509Certificate2 $PfxCertPath, $PfxCertPassword, 20
    # compare the output above with this output
    (Get-SPSecurityTokenServiceConfig).LocalLoginProvider.SigningCertificate
    [/code]
    ## Establish the server to server trust
    [code lang="ps"]
    if(-not (Get-PSSnapin "Microsoft.SharePoint.PowerShell" -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue)){Add-PSSnapin "Microsoft.SharePoint.PowerShell"}
    Import-Module MSOnline
    Import-Module MSOnlineExtended
    # set the cerficates paths and password
    $PfxCertPath = "c:\[certificate name].pfx"
    $PfxCertPassword = "[password]"
    $X64CertPath = "c:\[certificate name].cer"
    # set the onpremise domain that you added to Office 365
    $SPCN = "sharepoint.domain.com"
    # your onpremise SharePoint site url

    # don't change this value
    $SPOAppID="00000003-0000-0ff1-ce00-000000000000"
    # get the encrypted pfx certificate object
    $PfxCert = New-Object System.Security.Cryptography.X509Certificates.X509Certificate2 $PfxCertPath, $PfxCertPassword, 20
    # get the raw data
    $PfxCertBin = $PfxCert.GetRawCertData()
    # create a new certificate object
    $X64Cert = New-Object System.Security.Cryptography.X509Certificates.X509Certificate2
    # import the base 64 encoded certificate
    $X64Cert.Import($X64CertPath)
    # get the raw data
    $X64CertBin = $X64Cert.GetRawCertData()
    # save base 64 string in variable
    $CredValue = [System.Convert]::ToBase64String($X64CertBin)
    # connect to office 3656
    Connect-MsolService
    # register the on-premise STS as service principal in Office 365
    # add a new service principal
    New-MsolServicePrincipalCredential -AppPrincipalId $SPOAppID -Type asymmetric -Usage Verify -Value $CredValue
    $MsolServicePrincipal = Get-MsolServicePrincipal -AppPrincipalId $SPOAppID
    $SPServicePrincipalNames = $MsolServicePrincipal.ServicePrincipalNames
    $SPServicePrincipalNames.Add("$SPOAppID/$SPCN")
    Set-MsolServicePrincipal -AppPrincipalId $SPOAppID -ServicePrincipalNames $SPServicePrincipalNames
    # get the online name identifier
    $MsolCompanyInformationID = (Get-MsolCompanyInformation).ObjectID
    $MsolServicePrincipalID = (Get-MsolServicePrincipal -ServicePrincipalName $SPOAppID).ObjectID
    $MsolNameIdentifier = "$MsolServicePrincipalID@$MsolCompanyInformationID"
    # establish the trust from on-premise with ACS (Azure Control Service)
    # add a new authenticatio realm
    $SPSite = Get-SPSite $SPSite
    $SPAppPrincipal = Register-SPAppPrincipal -site $SPSite.rootweb -nameIdentifier $MsolNameIdentifier -displayName "SharePoint Online"
    Set-SPAuthenticationRealm -realm $MsolServicePrincipalID
    # register the ACS application proxy and token issuer
    New-SPAzureAccessControlServiceApplicationProxy -Name "ACS" -MetadataServiceEndpointUri "https://accounts.accesscontrol.windows.net/metadata/json/1/" -DefaultProxyGroup
    New-SPTrustedSecurityTokenIssuer -MetadataEndpoint "https://accounts.accesscontrol.windows.net/metadata/json/1/" -IsTrustBroker -Name "ACS"
    Add a new result source
    To get search results from SharePoint Online we have to add a new result source. Run the following script in a PowerShell ISE session on your SharePoint 2013 on-premise server. Don't forget to update the settings region
    if(-not (Get-PSSnapin "Microsoft.SharePoint.PowerShell" -ErrorAction SilentlyContinue)){Add-PSSnapin "Microsoft.SharePoint.PowerShell"}
    # region settings
    $RemoteSharePointUrl = "http://[example].sharepoint.com"
    $ResultSourceName = "SharePoint Online"
    $QueryTransform = "{searchTerms}"
    $Provier = "SharePoint-Remoteanbieter"
    # region settings end
    $SPEnterpriseSearchServiceApplication = Get-SPEnterpriseSearchServiceApplication
    $FederationManager = New-Object Microsoft.Office.Server.Search.Administration.Query.FederationManager($SPEnterpriseSearchServiceApplication)
    $SPEnterpriseSearchOwner = Get-SPEnterpriseSearchOwner -Level Ssa
    $ResultSource = $FederationManager.GetSourceByName($ResultSourceName, $SPEnterpriseSearchOwner)
    if(!$ResultSource){
    Write-Host "Result source does not exist. Creating..."
    $ResultSource = $FederationManager.CreateSource($SPEnterpriseSearchOwner)
    $ResultSource.Name = $ResultSourceName
    $ResultSource.ProviderId = $FederationManager.ListProviders()[$Provier].Id
    $ResultSource.ConnectionUrlTemplate = $RemoteSharePointUrl
    $ResultSource.CreateQueryTransform($QueryTransform)
    $ResultSource.Commit()
    Add a new query rule
    In the Search Administration click on Query Rules
    Select Local SharePoint as Result Source
    Click New Query Rule
    Enter a Rule name f.g. Search results from SharePoint Online
    Expand the Context section
    Under Query is performed on these sources click on Add Source
    Select your SharePoint Online result source
    In the Query Conditions section click on Remove Condition
    In the Actions section click on Add Result Block
    As title enter Results for "{subjectTerms}" from SharePoint Online
    In the Search this Source dropdown select your SharePoint Online result source
    Select 3 in the Items dropdown
    Expand the Settings section and select "More" link goes to the following URL
    In the box below enter this Url https://[example].sharepoint.com/search/pages/results.aspx?k={subjectTerms}
    Select This block is always shown above core results and click the OK button
    Save the new query rule

    Hi  Janik,
    According to your description, my understanding is that you want to display hybrid search results in SharePoint Server 2013.
    For achieving your demand, please have a look at the article:
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/dn197173(v=office.15).aspx
    If you are using single sign-on (SSO) authentication, it is important to test hybrid Search functionality by using federated user accounts. Native Office 365 user accounts and Active Directory Domain Services
    (AD DS) accounts that are not federated are not recognized by both directory services. Therefore, they cannot authenticate using SSO, and cannot be granted permissions to resources in both deployments. For more information, see Accounts
    needed for hybrid configuration and testing.

  • How to create a Display template for people search results

    Hi,
    I've just installed Sharepoint 2013 and started to play around with it. Seems to be many improvements - among these are the ability to create Display templates.
    On my publishing page there is a default "employee lookup" app which returns prefferred name, title and department as default when I try to search.
    I would love to return mobile number aswell so I have tried to do the following:
    I made a copy of Display _Catalogs/Masterpages/Display Templates/Search/Item_Person.html
    Edited that one with the following:
    1. Added 'MobilePhone':'MobilePhone' to the "Managed Property mapping" in the top of the html   document:
    <mso:ManagedPropertyMapping msdt:dt="string">'AboutMe':'AboutMe','AccountName':'AccountName','BaseOfficeLocation':'BaseOfficeLocation','Department':'Department','HitHighlightedProperties':'HitHighlightedProperties','Interests':'Interests','JobTitle':'JobTitle','LastModifiedTime':'LastModifiedTime','Memberships':'Memberships','MobilePhone':'MobilePhone','PastProjects':'PastProjects','Path':'Path','PictureURL':'PictureURL','PreferredName':'PreferredName','Responsibilities':'Responsibilities','Schools':'Schools','ServiceApplicationID':'ServiceApplicationID','SipAddress':'SipAddress','Skills':'Skills','UserProfile_GUID':'UserProfile_GUID','WorkEmail':'WorkEmail','WorkId':'WorkId','YomiDisplayName':'YomiDisplayName'</mso:ManagedPropertyMapping>
    2. Set a var in the <body> with:
    var has_MobilePhone = !$isEmptyString(ctx.CurrentItem.MobilePhone);
    Created the following based on "DepartmentField":
    if(has_MobilePhone == true) {
    _#-->
    <div id="MobilephoneField">
    <!--#_
    var encodedMobilePhone = $htmlEncode(ctx.CurrentItem.MobilePhone);
    var displayMobilePhone = Srch.U.getSingleHHXMLNodeValue(hhProps, "MobilePhone");
    if ($isEmptyString(displayMobilePhone)) { displayMobilePhone = encodedMobilePhone}
    _#-->
    <div id="MobilePhoneValue" class="ms-srch-ellipsis" title="_#= encodedMobilePhone =#_"> _#= displayMobilePhone =#_ </div>
    </div>
    <!--#_
    Saved the document to the masterpage galary and edited the search result page to (people search core results webpart) to "use a single template to display items" and selected my display template.
    Now the search result is still working but I get no mobile numbers to show up in the user info (only in the details which is default).
    Anyone has some bright ideas of what i'm missing?. I'm not used to code (which might be the cause :-)). If you also have an idea on how to make the value of the number = Mobile: <mobilenumber>. So the "Mobile:" static text is displayed
    aswell.
    Thanks a lot for your time.

    Hello,
    I did the same with my new SharePoint 2013 (I would like to display the mobile phone too) but without any chance. Have you done anything else ?
    This is my User Property "CellPhone" :
    http://www.cladstrife.com/CellPhone_Prop.png
    The ManagedPropertyMapping :
    <mso:ManagedPropertyMapping msdt:dt="string">'AboutMe':'AboutMe','AccountName':'AccountName','BaseOfficeLocation':'BaseOfficeLocation','Department':'Department','HitHighlightedProperties':'HitHighlightedProperties','Interests':'Interests','JobTitle':'JobTitle','LastModifiedTime':'LastModifiedTime','Memberships':'Memberships','PastProjects':'PastProjects','Path':'Path','PictureURL':'PictureURL','PreferredName':'PreferredName','Responsibilities':'Responsibilities','Schools':'Schools','ServiceApplicationID':'ServiceApplicationID','SipAddress':'SipAddress','Skills':'Skills','UserProfile_GUID':'UserProfile_GUID','WorkEmail':'WorkEmail','WorkId':'WorkId','YomiDisplayName':'YomiDisplayName','CellPhone':'CellPhone','HomePhone':'HomePhone'</mso:ManagedPropertyMapping>
    The "if_exist" variable :
    var has_cphone = !$isEmptyString(ctx.CurrentItem.CellPhone);
    And the "display" code :
    <!--#_
    if(has_cphone == true) {
    _#-->
    <div id="CPhoneField">
    <!--#_
    var encodedCPhone = $htmlEncode(ctx.CurrentItem.CellPhone);
    var displayCPhone = Srch.U.getSingleHHXMLNodeValue(hhProps, "CellPhone");
    if ($isEmptyString(displayCPhone)) { displayCPhone = encodedCPhone}
    _#-->
    <div id="CPhoneValue" class="ms-srch-ellipsis" title="_#= encodedCPhone =#_"> Mobile: _#= displayCPhone =#_ </div>
    </div>
    <!--#_
    _#-->
    If I delete the test lines in the display code (if(has_cphone == true) it show "Mobile:" but without any mobile number.
    Thanks for your help if any idea :)
    Best regards
    Gabriel

  • "Search Result Types" Error on page view

    When visiting "Search Result Types"

    When visiting "Search Result Types" under Site Collection Administration on a few of my site collections I get an error. This only happens on some of the site collections and I can't pin down why its occurring. I've tried disabling "SharePoint
    Server Publishing Infrastructure" and deleting the Relationship list then turning the infrastructure feature back on with not luck.
    I've attached URLs below, any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Error in saving search result in MDS application

    Hi All
    I'm developing a ADF customizable web appicatoion using jdeveloper 11.1.2.0
    It works fine when I deploy this application to metadata repository, but when I Save a search result in search panel it gives following error "You do not have permission to replace this search"
    This is my configuration in ADF-Config file
    <persistence-config>
    <metadata-namespaces>
    <namespace metadata-store-usage="MAR_TargetRepos" path="/pages"/>
    </metadata-namespaces>
    <metadata-store-usages>
    <metadata-store-usage default-cust-store="true" deploy-target="true" id="MAR_TargetRepos">

    <property value="jdbc/mds/csd" name="jndi-datasource"/>
    <property value="owsm" name="partition-name"/>
    </metadata-store>
    </metadata-store-usage>
    </metadata-store-usages>
    </persistence-config>
    Please help me to resolve this error

    Hi,
    you are trying to change a system search, which is not allowed for customization. You can save custom searches in MDS but not override system searches
    +"Query component now support the overriding the saved search functionality. When user click on the "Save..." button, "Create Saved Search" dialog comes up with name field populated with the currently selected saved search. If user enters a "System Search" name and click OK button, a error dialog stating "You do not have permission to replace this search:" is shown. If user enters an already existing saved search name then a warning dialog stating "Replace existing search:" is shown. On clicking OK existing search is replaced with the new definition. If a name that is not already present in the saved-search list is provided, a new search with the given name is created. For this a new event QueryOperationEvent.Operation.OVERRIDE is added.+
    +Query component now allows the deletion of saved-search which is currently active search in the query-panel. When user deletes currently active saved-search, we set the first search from system-search list as the currently active search, and refresh the query-panel when "Personalized Saved Search" dialog is closed. • Search Preview, Open Search Result, Authentication, Security Trimming Users - Domain

    hi all
    Good morning. I hope someone can direct me in the right path.
    Server Setup 1 - SharePoint 2013 (using as search engine - fileserver)
    SharePoint 2013 Foundation - Latest Patches with HTTP
    Windows Server 2012
    Server Setup 2 - Office Web Apps 2013
    Office Web Apps - Latest Patches with HTTP
    Windows Server 2012
    Issues that I am facing - Search preview
    a. I have configure SP2013 as a search for my file server. I get all the searches but I cannot preview them. I have configured the Office Web Apps 2013 and can successfully see the XML file in various TechNet article's. No event errors.  I have ran
    various PowerShell commands, to see if SP connects with Office Web Apps and it connects. This is all Internal network and so I have used HTTP.
    Issues that I am facing - Open Search Result
    b. I have faced this when search a document, I tried to click on OPEN and nothing happens. The document doesn't open and no errors. However, if I send the document to a user, the path opens it directly.
    Issues that I am facing - Authentication
    c. I would like to provide our users the opportunity to search without entering username and password on a domain computer but required on a non-domain joined computers. Can this be done?
    Issues that I am facing - Security Trimming - File Share
    d. I have a file share with Access Based Enumeration enabled. Some users are given access and some others no access to view certain folders and files. Will this reflect the searches ?. I have set a READ-ONLY access account to the complete fileShare. Does
    the searches appear to those who have access and doesn't appear to those who don't have.
    I am willing to learn and so I ask some guidance where I have gone wrong with the setup.
    Thanks in advance for all the help.
    Cheers
    Jo

    Hi Jo,
    #1. Per my knowledge, the files in file share cannot be previewed with Office Web Apps in SharePoint search results.
    https://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/sharepoint/en-US/fdc18024-1782-4acd-a498-70c53c1d2f64/office-web-apps-preview-of-fileshare-documents
    If the documents in the site cannot be previewed, I recommend to use command
    New-SPWOPIBinding to re-create the binding without Action parameter and then do a full crawl tosee how it works.
    #2.  Please check the URL of the file in your search results and then copy the URL in the browser to see if the document can be opened.
    #3. I recommend to extend the web application to the internet zone and do not grant anonymous permission on the search results page in the internet zone. Then when the user wants to do search, then he will need to sign in to access the search results page.
    #4. Yes, if the user has no access to the files, then he will not be able to search the documents in SharePoint and the documents will not appear in search results.
    Best regards.
    Thanks

  • How to configure search results web part to display results only after a query is generated from user?

    Hi All,
    I am crawling documents from a file server. I created a new content source and crawled the documents. All documents are crawled successfully.
    Then I went to my enterprise search center site collection and created a new result source. I have added the query to use above content source.
    After that, on a page I am trying to configure the search results web part to display documents using this result source. Now the problem is:
    It displays all the documents that are crawled without searching for anything. I mean first it should not display any results. If a user searches for something , then according to that search it should display results.
    Any idea how to do this in the web part? I am using SharePoint 2013 on premise enterprise edition. No code. Totally OOTB.

    Hi Mohan,
    What did you use for the Query text in the result source?
    I could reproduce this issue when I used Query text like: {searchTerms} Path:”http://sps2k13sp/sites/First/Shared%20Documents”
    Then I changed the Query to
    {?{searchTerms}
    Path:"http://sps2k13sp/sites/First/Shared%20Documents"}
    , then Search result web part didn’t return results without searching.
    So , check your result source, and use the Query like the above(adding "{?...}").
    I hope this helps.
    Thanks,
    Wendy

  • Customize the layout set used when opening a folder in search result list?

    Hi,
    I have created a search result iView that uses a predefined search query to show a list of folders. If I click on a folder <i>(rnd:displayname(contentLink)</i>) its content is displayed in a new window. Here the layout set Consumer Explorer (default profile?) is used.
    I want to use a custom layout set in this window. How can I achieve this?
    Regards,
    Mario

    Hi Mario,
    here the answers:
    > <i>1. Develop an own UI Command where you can give
    > the LayoutSet as a parameter</i>.
    >
    > Do you know where I can find some code sample?
    You can either check the <a href="https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/com.sap.km.cm.docs/documents/a1-8-4/Implementing%20Flexible%20UI%20One-Step-Screenflow.article">Implementing Flexible UI One-Step-Screenflow</a> tutorial by Thilo Brandt or search here on SDN for "UI Command implementation" examples.

    > How can I find out for which operations/standard
    > iViews in KM (copy, move, create link...) the default
    > layout is used to avoid surprises when changing the
    > default profile?
    Normally, as you can see in the above mentioned <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/25/59bb2eece725498427334e0e21b80c/content.htm">Priority of Settings</a>, whenever the KM Navigation component (com.sap.km.cm.navigation) is opened without a specific layout set the global default layout set is used. As you can give this parameters by different ways (as URL parameter, in the KM Navigation iView configuration, via OTH file definition, hardcoded or configured in the configuration of an UI Command, etc.) it is nearly impossible to find <b>all</b> situation where your users will get this default profile.
    The UI Commands (with selection) you mentioned like "copy","move","create_link" use the configured LayoutSet (ConsumerOnlyFolderSelector) from the KM Configuration (of the command).
    > <i>3. You can also create a Layout Profile and go to
    > the root folder(s) of the search on "Details" ->
    > "Settings" -> "Presentation" and select your profile
    > in the tab "Settings for all users".</i>

    One idea would be to use the <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/0f/764b87dfb948fcb13fd7695e157892/content.htm">Multiple Property Replacement</a> feature by SAP.
    > Can you give me a hint on the other possibilities you
    > want to publish?
    Of course. One other possibility I have in mind is to work with OTH files. You might also search here on SDN to see how to use them for setting the layout set for specific folder paths.
    Hope this helps,
    Robert
