Path question

Hi,
I have two questions about paths
1. After making a stoke on a path, I made some adjustments on the path. But it doesnt affect the sroke. Is thre a way to do this.
2. Is there a way of deforming a layer by a curve.
Thank you.

you can still use Warp, just not the manual warp, select Arc or something like that from the Options bar. If you're pipe is vertical then you could also try your luck with Filter->Distort->Shear but i'd say that this too is more Illustrator territory

  • File path question....

    Yet another really simple question from me, as I've been away from DIAdem for too long.
    I have a program which, in part of it, needs the user to select the path that they want a set of a few hundred files to be saved in. I've tried using FileNameGet, but this requires me to select a file in the directory i want to save into to record the path. I just want the user to have to select the folder once.
    I've tried this:
    '===============
    dim newfilepath
    If  (FileNameGet("ANY",,,,,,"Select the directory to save the new files into:") = "IDOk") Then
      newfilepath=FileDlgDir
    else
    End If
    '===============
    Can I select a directory instead of a file?

    Hello Tom!
    Yes, with the PathNameGet() command.

    that is showing that interleaving is working personally unless you really must have interleaving turned off i would leave it on as it improves stability going to fast path could make your line unstable if you want to go to fast path you need to contact the forum mods this is a link to them and ask them to turn off interleaving

  • Path question in Illustrator CS4

    Hi...I am impoorting a bar graph from Microsfot Excel to Illustrator CS4. So far, so good. I can simply cut and paste from the clipboard and Illustrator understands the Excel graph. What I want to do is to convert the graph to grayscle (which I've done), then apply a spot color to just one of the bars in the graph. I'm able to use the direct selection tool to select one of the bars. Each bar appears to be its own path. Then I open up the swatches menu and apply a color. But ALL of the bars in the graph turn that color, as if all of the paths are the same. Is there any way to ungroup a path? I tried the "ungroup" command to no avail. Thanks.

    Thanks, Kurt. I figured out how to do it. Actually, I figured out two different ways:
    1. Using OBJECT/COMPOUND PATH/RELEASE
    and
    2. WINDOWS/PATHFINDER/DIVIDE
    Both seem to work.

  • [CS5-JS] Link path question

    Hi,
    I made a script that needs the path of every link within the document.
    I tested it on a Mac (10.5.8) and when I look at links path (document.link.filePath) I see strings like these:
    Username:Desktop:WorkFolder:myFile.jpg
    It looks like paths starts from the user folder.
    I thought it was due to the fact that this user is not an administrator.
    So I tested the same script on another computer (10.6.4) but the path looks correct:
    MacintoshHD:Users:Username:Desktop:WorkFolder:myFile.jpg
    Obviously I have some problems while passing this value because in the first case it doesn't point to afile object...
    Is it a OS issue?
    I don't know how to solve it...
    Thanks!

    Hi
    I think you should use ObjectStyle!
    create an Object Style and set some transparency settings, and apply this to objects
    var my_obj_style;
    try {
      my_obj_style = myDoc.objectStyles.add({name:"inner glow setting"});
    catch(e){
      my_obj_style = myDoc.objectStyles.item("inner glow setting");
    with (my_obj_style.transparencySettings.innerGlowSettings){
      applied = true;
      blendMode = 1852797549/*BlendMode.NORMAL*/;
      opacity = 100;
      noise = 0;
      effectColor = "Paper";
      technique = 2020618338/*GlowTechnique.PRECISE*/;
      spread = 79;
      size = '0.125in';
      source = 2020618594 /*InnerGlowSource.EDGE_SOURCED*/;
    //Create the ovals and specify their size and location...
    var myLeftOval = myPage.ovals.add({geometricBounds:[2, -3, 2.75, -.75], fillColor:myDoc.colors.item("25% Black"),strokeColor:myDoc.swatches.item("None"), itemLayer:myDoc.layers.item("New Layer"),appliedObjectStyle:my_obj_style});
    var myCenterOval = myPage.ovals.add({geometricBounds:[3, -3, 3.75, -.75], fillColor:myDoc.colors.item("25% Black"),strokeColor:myDoc.swatches.item("None"), itemLayer:myDoc.layers.item("New Layer")});
    var myRightOval = myPage.ovals.add({geometricBounds:[4, -3, 4.75, -.75], fillColor:myDoc.colors.item("25% Black"),strokeColor:myDoc.swatches.item("None"), itemLayer:myDoc.layers.item("New Layer"),appliedObjectStyle:my_obj_style});
    I didn't apply object style to center oval, on purpose.
    Thankyou

  • Upgrade path question...

    I've been using golive 6 and in about a month I'm planning to upgrade...I'm seeing upgrades to golive 9 (which i read here has its problems), CS2 which I'm assuming I can update golive 6 to, and then the alternative that the Adobe site offers/suggests, switch to Dreamweaver...
    I haven't followed all the changes and rumor...maybe you can help me here...is golive a dead end now? Is Adobe going to eventually just abandon it for DW?...
    Also, I'll be updating my other adobe software to CS3 for photoshop, illustrator, and indesign...so nice integration between Golive CS2 or DW would be a goal...
    Please don't shoot me if this isn't the place to ask, it just seems you guys know everything when I come with a question about me being lost and confused in golive...
    oh, I did watch the little video presentation about DW on the Adobe site...i didn't feel totally lost looking at the examples there...I do wonder if DW will just be so new that'll i'll be totally lost for while...I've read of some complaints from golive users in the past...
    I mean, can you tell me if DW has any 'major' shortcoming?...I'm not familiar with it...just know about golive 5 and 6 which wasn't too complicated and allowed me to do a website 'almost' pain free...
    thanks for any advice/experience/tips you can pass along...I mean I could spend near $200 for the CS2 update or for $400 just buy DW...just don't want to waste money on an update if it doesn't make sense/cents...
    thanks...
    M

    ok, so i just found this in the golive to dw transition forum...i think this starts to explain what i need to know...

  • JTree path question

    I have created a program that basically simulates single celled organisms in a random (non graphical) world, and I want to use a JTree to show the family history and allow the user to bring up an organism's stats by clicking on in the the Jtree, but I have a problem. Each organism has a unique ID number (starting at 0) and that's what I want to display on the tree. I have the code working to add the new organisms to the root, but I want them added as a child to the parent (each child has only one parent for these organisms), but I don't know how to do it. I tried using insertNodeInto but since everything after the root is dynamically generated I don't know how to identify the parent correctly (just using the ID doesn't seem to do anything). Do I need to create a method that somehow copies the entire treemodel into a collection and steps through it? I have the organisms in a collection already (an arraylist to be exact), so I could figure out the lineage by stepping through that, but then how do I build a 'selection path' object that will work to tell Java exactly where I want the child to go? Is the selection path just some kind of array, or is it even possible to build a selection path without a user clicking on a tree node? I hope you can figure out what I'm trying to say here and I appreciate any help you can give.

    Start by creating a Map that has your organisms as the key and the nodes they are in as the value. Or just let the organism include a reference to the node that contains it. Either of those would allow you to identify the TreeNode that contains a particular organism.

  • Compound Path Question

    Aside from using them to cut holes in shapes, are there any other reasons to create a compound path? They seem to be similar to a grouping paths so I just wondered.

    Thanks for the reference to the manual. Made things much clearer.
    I saw in the manual that you can move items inside a compound path so I tried it and found something interesting: I drew 2 rectangles, one inside the other. If you use the Group Selection tool, you can move the inner rectangle around by grabbing it by it's side or corner anchor point. If you use the Direct Selection tool, you can move it by clicking in the exact center and after that (as long as it's still selected) you can click by it's side or corner anchor point and move it. If you don't click the center first, then the Direct Selection tool will just move a side or an anchor point but not the rectangle. If that isn't interesting enough, if you are using the Direct Selection tool and hold down the Option key, the cursor changes to the Group Selection tool but if you try to grab the inner rectangle and move it, you will duplicate it instead??

  • System.setProperty("java.library.path")  question

    Is there a way to dynamically specify which directories the System.loadLibrary picks up its DLL's and libraries from ?
    I have read a few places saying no, however, WHY even have a System.setProperty("java.library.path") function? If there truly is not, then can there be a jni directory added to the WAR directory structure so that tomcat et. al. can access them

    Is there a way to dynamically specify which
    directories the System.loadLibrary picks up its DLL's
    and libraries from ?No.
    You can however use System.load().
    I have read a few places saying no, however, WHY even
    have a System.setProperty("java.library.path")
    function? That are many reasons for having setProperty(). For example if you want to set your own property.
    If there truly is not, then can there be a
    jni directory added to the WAR directory structure
    so that tomcat et. al. can access themBecause it extracts them into a directory which is in the OS path presumably.
    The OS, not java, loads shared libraries. And that means that the OS has to be able to find it. So JNIs are not loaded from a war/jar. They must be extracted first.

  • [Help] LabVIEW Search Paths Questions...

    Is the "Tools" \ "Options" \ "Paths" \ "Search Paths" stored on the PC that is running LabVIEW or stored in the currently opened VI?
    Also can I specify relative search paths for example: "<topvi>\..\..\..\Library\MyLib\*"
    Is the search recursive?  i.e. If there are subfolders, with subfolders will it drill down looking for the missing VI's?
    The issue I have is that I have a project in a directory structure defined by a configuration control program i.e:
    Y:\Test Equp\Project\Modules\Library\MyLib\* (there may be one or more sub folders contain VI's).
    Y:\Test Equp\Project\Modules\MyApplication\* (there may be one or more sub folders contain VI's).
    On the target the structure might be:
    C:\Final\Library\MyLib\*
    C:\Final\MyApplication\*
    The issue is when I copy the files from Y: on my PC to C: on the PXI rack and open the top level VI in "MyApplication", LabVIEW cannot see the files in the "MyLib" until I tell where one VI is in each sub folder in "MyLib".  This is a pain, specially if I make changes and transfer the file back to my PC as I have too go through the process again!
    If I can spec a search path for the library files then it should just find them on either my PC or the PXI rack...

    It is specific to that PC. It is stored in the labview.ini file.
    Also can I specify relative search paths for example: "<topvi>\..\..\..\Library\MyLib\*"
    You can, but that's not really the solution to your problem.
    Is the search recursive?  i.e. If there are subfolders, with subfolders will it drill down looking for the missing VI's?
    That's what the asterisk at the end signifies. From the LabVIEW Help:
    After you select the directory, LabVIEW inserts the path in the text box to the right of the Browse button. You can edit the path in this text box. When you select a path, LabVIEW normally searches that directory but not its subdirectories. You can make the search hierarchical by appending an asterisk (*) to the new path item. For example, enter LabVIEW/*, LabVIEW\*, or LabVIEW:* to search LabVIEW and its subdirectories.

    The location of subVIs is saved with a VI, and it's a relative path. Since you are moving both directories there shouldn't be an issue finding the subVIs when you open the top-level VI, so it's not clear why there's an issue here. Are you loading VIs dynamically?

  • IFS path question

    Hi,
    I'm trying to return all documents relative to a certain
    path with respect to symbolic linking.
    That is, if a "real" document exists at say, /a/a.txt with id=123, and I symbolically link to it via:
    /b/a.txt -> /a/a.txt
    I want:
    myDocument = (Document)obj; //let obj have id=123
    String path = myDoc.getAnyFolderPath();
    //Here, I want the /b/a.txt NOT /a/a.txt
    System.out.println(path); // prints /a/a.txt :(
    I tried getAnyFolderPath(folder) with no success (where
    folder was pointing to /b).
    Can anyone help??
    Anthony

    Hi Anthony,
    You can use myDoc.getAllFolderPaths(), which returns all folder paths to the document. You can then
    select the path that starts with /b. Or try using myDoc.getAllFolderPaths(folder).
    Regards,
    Erik

  • Edit compound path question

    Good afternoon everyone,
    First of all let me state that I am a complete novice with Illustrator. Ok now that we have that out of the way I have a logo that I had created for me that I would like to edit one small portion of. Basically in the middle of the logo is the word/text "EDCpen" (I belive the text is made up from compund paths).
    I would like to edit it FROM "EDCpen" TO "EDCpin" however cannot get it to work. I am sure that I am doing everything wrong, however cannot seem to make this what I belive to be simple change. No doubt it is more difficult to do in reality than I think it is in my mind.
    Attached is a sample of the logo in jpg format.  I have the file in both .ai and .eps formats.
    Any help would be appreciated. If it matters I am using AI CC.
    Cheers.
    -Kris

    Here's an example
    1.  with the Type tool, Serpentine font selected, and an easy to distinguish color, click at the bottom left corner as marked with the yellow and type EDCpin. Then select the text as object (Esc key will do this when using the type tool) and either press Shift + Ctrl +> keys or drag the bounding box manipulator holding Shift until the height of the new text matches the old.
    2. Then hold Alt and press the right arrow on your keyboard to increase the letter spacing until it fills the space nicely. You can click with the type tool between letters and use this hotkey combination to change the letter spacing (kerning) only between two letters.
    3. Remove or hide the objects behind
    4. Using the appearance and stroke panels add two strokes and a white fill as shown to get a white outline around the text that will be used for replacing the original white line above.
    5. On a copy behind the text, outline the font, expand the appearance, from the objects produced from the expanding delete the others but keep only the two outer paths, and use the pathfinder minus front to get a path for the white line. Then you can use the Eraser tool while holding Alt to make it with rectangular selection to cut the unwanted portions from the line.
    click the image to see it larger
    For the colored logo, as I suggested earlier, you can replace the old objects with the new, but first drag the gradient object in the style panel to save its appearance. Then you can create a new gradient object using the same style with the help of the Shape Builder tool when the line and the frame are selected.

  • WLC code upgrade path questions

    We running WCS 6.0.132(lastest) and our controllers are on 4.2.130, we now want to upgrade to keep up with the times, but don't want to change over to capwap yet.
    Question1:What's the latest LWAPP release code??
    Question2:Whats the differences between 4.2.207 (cisco's support page says this is the latest release) but there's even releases with much higher versions ie 6.0 how does this work it's very confusing to workout an upgrade path
    Cheers

    Hi Tyrone,
    I'm not an expert on Versioning but here are some basic details in response
    to your query
    4.2.207 is the latest release on the 4.2 Train and is probably an excellent choice
    if you are avoiding CAPWAP for the time being. You will see in the link below that
    there are multiple "simultaneous" Trains for the WLC (and most Cisco products). People
    were not huge fans of the early 5.x Trains (quite buggy) and CAPWAP was introduced
    in 5.2 and forward so this is why 4.2.207 seems like a good fit for you
    In controller software release 5.2 or later, Cisco lightweight access points use the IETF standard Control and Provisioning of Wireless Access Points protocol (CAPWAP) in order to communicate between the controller and other lightweight access points on the network. Controller software releases prior to 5.2 use the Lightweight Access Point Protocol (LWAPP) for these communications.
    CAPWAP, which is based on LWAPP, is a standard, interoperable protocol that enables a controller to manage a collection of wireless access points. CAPWAP is being implemented in controller software release 5.2 for these reasons:
          To provide an upgrade path from Cisco products that use LWAPP to next-generation Cisco products that use CAPWAP
          To manage RFID readers and similar devices
          To enable controllers to interoperate with third-party access points in the future
    LWAPP-enabled access points can discover and join a CAPWAP controller, and conversion to a CAPWAP controller is seamless. For example, the controller discovery process and the firmware downloading process when you use CAPWAP are the same as when you use LWAPP. The one exception is for Layer 2 deployments, which are not supported by CAPWAP.
    You can deploy CAPWAP controllers and LWAPP controllers on the same network. The CAPWAP-enabled software allows access points to join either a controller that runs CAPWAP or LWAPP. The only exception is the Cisco Aironet 1140 Series Access Point, which supports only CAPWAP and therefore joins only controllers that run CAPWAP. For example, an 1130 series access point can join a controller that runs either CAPWAP or LWAPP whereas an 1140 series access point can join only a controller that runs CAPWAP.
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6366/products_qanda_item09186a008064a991.shtml
    4.2.207 was released 24/Jul/2009 which does make it  the second newest version available in any train.

  • MXMLC Source Path Question

    I am new to doing batch Flex compiles. This is my first
    attempt. When specifying -sp on the command line the documentation
    clearly states that you can use wildcards to indicate use the
    specified directory and all subdirectories. I cannot seem to get
    this to work. I have tried many ways to do this including
    -source-path+=com/* or -source-path+=com/*.* etc. All I get is an
    error message indicating unable to open file "com/*" or unable to
    open file "com/*.*" (I have also tried to specify the entire path -
    c:/ ......)
    Note: I have set the current directory to a specific location
    and access the compiler by specifying its path
    (\flex_sdk_2\bin\mxmlc.exe)
    1. What is the correct format for specifying wildcards on the
    command line?
    2. Is it true that -sp is relative to the current directory
    and not the compiler directory?

    Turns out I had to use the following command:
    mxmlc -compiler.source-path=.\src -static-link-runtime-shared-libraries=true .\src\com\foobar\foo.as -output .\test.swf
    Do I understand why? No, not really. A coworker helped me for a while. Hope this helps anyone who has the same problem in compiling an actionscript package.
