Path to PSE7 catalog files in Vista?

What is the path to the disc location for the catalog files (PSE 7 and Vista)?  I want to be able to back up just the catalog files independently from the backup utility provided in PSE 7 itself.
Thanks,
Mike

Do Help > System Info to find the location of the catalog folder.  You should back up the entire folder.

I have been looking online for a solution to htis problem for days and come up with nothing so any help would be amazingly helpful.
I have created a Windows 8.1 image which I would like to role out to all users within my company but when trying to create a catalog file I am getting an erorr message saying "Windows SIM was unable to generate a catalog."  It says "Mounting

When opening the log file I get this:

The one image that did work (LiteTouchPE_x64.wim) was from the OS I imported to Microsoft Workbench but the components are different to any that I have seen online when looking on how to do this.
I have made sure that the architecture is x64 and tried from ISO files I have on the system already but get the same error.
This is the first project I have been involved in and only ever done IT support before this.
Thanks for your help in advance.

  • Invalid path in folder - catalog problem

In Lightroom 4.4 I get the indication in the folder pane of invalid paths. I have accidently deleted some directories outside of Lightroom in an effort to reorganize the structure. Lightroom freezes as soon as I move in the folder pane. I have to use ctr-alt-del to exit Lightroom. Deleting the preferences file does not help because when I open the old catalog the same problem occurs.
I tried looking for the back-up catalog file, but that does not exist. The setting was to backup every time leaving Lightroom, but when the problems started, I renewed the preferences to do the backup once a day. Something did not work out, as it is no longer there. May be it replaces a backup file? I should have checked that.
How can I solve the folder problem???
When I create a new catalog, I assume I will have lost all the corrections and work I did on my files.
Operating system windows 7 - 64 bits - 16 GB RAM Lightroom 4.4 No other applications open.
    Thank you.
    Jan Minekus

Waiting did not solve the problem, but renaming the topfolder and
restarting Lightroom. Creating a new topfolder and moving an old
    subfolder did work!
To be sure I did copy the old folder.
After restarting Lightroom, I had to import the newly copied subfolder.
Everything was allright, except the history was gone, but the metadata,
captions and keywords are still there.
I recreated the first problem folder and could now delete the images
with the wrong path. After that I could remove the folder by
    rightclickting.
Now the other problemsubfolders could also be removed.
Problem resolved. I am stil importing subfolders. Thank you very much!

The preference file is the com.adobe.Lightroom2.plist file, located in the[username]/Library/Preferences folder.
The following Photoshop Lightroom database files are located in the[username]/Pictures/Lightroom folder:
Lightroom 2/3 Catalog.lrcat (the catalog itself)

    >The following Photoshop Lightroom database files are located in the [username]/Pictures/Lightroom folder:
    * Lightroom Database.lrdb(the Lr 1.0 database)or the Lightroom Catalog.lrcat (Lightroom 1.1 and higher)
    * Lightroom Database.lrdb.lock (the file that prevents data from being overwritten inadvertently)
    * Lightroom Previews.lrdata (the file that holds the preview data assigned to your photos)
    Windows:
    >Preferences are located in the Lightroom Preferences.agprefs file, located in the Documents and Settings/[username]/Application Data/Adobe/Lightroom/Preferences folder.

Make sure you don't delete any of the database/catalog files. The only file you might need to delete or remove is the preference file.
Note: database files were created by Lightroom version 1.0 and use the extension  lrdb. Subsequent versions use catalog files for the same purpose and have the extension  lrcat

If you don't mind losing some if not all of the work you have done already start a new catalog.
    To keep all existing work:
Make sure that the copied NEF files on the external have the same folder structure as previous.
Copy the Lr4 catalog to the external and launch it on the laptop by double clicking it. A copy of the catalog will get upgraded for Lr5. This will retain all your work although you will need to reconnect the Folders in the Catalog by pointing them to the new drive.
You can keep th Catalog on the EHD or move it to the Laptop.....

I have researched and found out that there was an issue with 64-bit systems not being able to create a Windows 8 x64 catalog file.
So I created a Win 7 32-bit OS, and installed WAIK on there and tried to create a catalog for the same OS version.
    I get the same error....
I have tried 2 different ISOs , a retail one, and enterprise one.
    No luck.

    Hi,
What is the version of your SIM installed?
Please refer to the following article Windows Image Files and Catalog Files Overview.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/hh825092.aspx
It shows that x64 version of SIM only supports x64-based system.
Please refer to the following thread similar to your problems.
Cannot generate catalog file for windows 7
    http://social.technet.microsoft.com/Forums/windows/en-US/0d76f47c-d8d6-4239-a1b9-9f77d2b46c90/cannot-generate-catalog-file-for-windows-7?forum=itprovistadeployment
Please take the following steps for troubleshooting.
    1. Make sure your account are the administrator.
    2. Check if you have the full control of .wim file.
    3. Check the versions of your SIM and image as mentioned.
If there are any problems, please let me know.
    Best regards

  • Catalog Files *.PSA

Is there a way to tell PS Album to store its *.PSA catalog files in a particular subdirectory? Traditionally I've kept all my personal files in a subdirectory tree that makes it easy to backup all critical stuff. If apps scatter files all over the machine it makes it harder. I used to be able to do this with earlier versions of Album, but 3.2 doesn't seem to allow it.
Or I haven't figured it out anyhow.
    Thanks.
    Bill

    Hi Bill,
The .psa catalog path cannot be changed in Photoshop Album Starter Edition. This is possible in Photoshop Elements where you can create catalogs at custom locations.

  • Outlook - The path specified for the file SharePoint Lists PST is not valid

Some users are connecting via Citrix XenApp to Microsoft Server 2008 R2 and using Microsoft Office 2010 (14.0.7109.5000) SP2 MSO (14.0.7116.5000) - Microsoft Office Profressional Plus 2010 x86 version for their email.  Microsoft Exchange Server 2010
    SP2 for email.
They are connected to Microsoft SharePoint 2010 SP2 August 2013 CU, via a SharePoint Calender; they have View permissions to the SharePoint calendar using Classic Mode permissions (Not Claims).  No permissions have / are changing on this SharePoint
Calendar.  They connect to the SharePoint Calender to Outlook.
When they open up their Office Outlook client, they receive an error "Outlook Data File" "The path specified for the file \AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\SharePoint Lists.pst is not valid." OK
They select OK and they get a window popping up with the option to try to find the SharePoint list.  "Create/Open Outlook Data File" (File name: 'SharePoint Lists') Open Cancel.  They select Cancel.
They are returned to their Outlook client "email."
As an I.T. administrator and SharePoint Administrator, I had a remote session with them, using Bomgar software and I Go to File Menu, Account Settings, SharePoint Lists Tab but there is no list there so go to the Data Files tab and see SharePoint Lists listed.
Selecting it once, and clicking on Settings... button gives error message similar to the one above about PST not valid.
STRANGE in that, when you do that!  You can go to Home tab, Calendar (Ctrl+2), and see Other Calendars and now the SharePoint calendar that was supposed to be there before, but was just "empty!"  There was only the Other Calendars
option but it didn't have any "sub" calendar item.
A similar issue is when Other Calendars is listed, and has a sub calendar listed, a SharePoint connected calendar.  You click on it and get "Microsoft Outlook" "The set of folders cannot be opened. The path specified for the file c:\Users\USERNAMEHERE\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Outlook\SharePoint
    Lists.pst is not valid."  OK
Click OK and go through the above steps to get the same result.  After going into Account Settings, Data Files, checking on the Settings... button, and receiving the error message, again mentioned above, and the prompt to Create/Open Outlook Data File,
thgen I can go back into Account Settings, Data Files, and double click on the SharePoint Lists and instead of an error, the Outlook Data File comes up, with Change Password... Compact Now, Comment, Name, Filename, Format (Outlook Data File) OK Cancel.
Can go back to the Calendar (Ctrl+2) and Other Calendars, and the SharePoint Calendar "Sub calendar" will appear and operate as normal!  All was done was go into the Account settings and "check" on the "error."
Tried to delete the SharePoint Lists and close out and add it and then go back in, and it "worked" for a few days.  I later turned on Logging and for over 24 hours it was on for the user.  The user was not on forever.
In the Outlook Logging folder, from the users profile, I found many *.log files, firstrun, OPMLog, ETL files, one of which is 6MB, and some prof_001_outlook....txt files.  I clickedo n the SharePoint Lists.pst.log file 1KB
    It is listed here:

They are using a CRM client 2011 (Server is CRM 2011 - on premise) as well as having other connected email accounts - managed accounts, like Accounting or HR, etc.
What can I look for / provide for you all to assist?  I am almost ready to open a ticket with Microsoft to resolve this as it has been happening for multiple users for multiple weeks.
When "I" go in, logged on as myself, I do NOT have this problem, however my account is not "old" in that I just logged onto the account domain\matthew.carter, where these users use their accounts day in and day out for weeks / months
    / (some years).
    Thank you!

Did you post this in the SharePoint Section? Did you find a resolution for this?
We are experiencing the same issue and have yet to find anything to resolve this issue.
    Regards, Daniel
I ended up scouring his old posts looking for the other thread, and he did open one in the SharePoint forum:

Unfortunately, what was marked as an "answer" by the moderators isn't really an answer at all to the problem. We are experiencing pretty much an identical issue with a calendar people are adding to Outlook 2010 from SharePoint 2010 within a XenApp
server (using roaming profiles). However, we have not had the issue occur outside of XenApp yet.

  • I have an iMac with 2 internal drives and set-up with multiple user accounts.  How do I create a path to store data files on my second drive within an application?

I have an iMac with 2 internal drives and a multiple user account set-up.  Hw do I create a path to store data files on the second drive within an application?

This is the Mac mini forum not the iMac forum however...
Applications written for average users like Photoshop, Word, i.e. GUI based applications provide a 'Save' dialog box which while allow selecting second drives or any drive. The dialob box initially shown might be in the simple mode but you just need to click on the triangle to show the full set of options. You should then see the different drive names amongst other options.
If your referring to an application your writing yourself then you need to build a pathname. This can be in one of two styles depending on the programming system your using. This could be a POSIX style path or a Mac style path.
    POSIX = /Volumes/volname/foldername
    Mac style = Volname:foldername:

  • Format over catalog file, tried to recover file but now corrupt?!

I recently performed a format of my hard drive.  When doing this, I did not back up my catalog file from photoshop elements(I have pse 8.0).  I backed up everything else, and I do have all of the original full size photo files from my hard drive, ~11,000 image files which are now all put back to their exact same location on the hard drive as before the format. Horrible mistake on my part not to back this up, but I thought this info was stored in the individual photo files itself, but I know now that this info was in the catalog file that I more than likely have lost.
First off, following the format elements 8.0 was installed and all of my photos were migrated into elements(all thumbnails visible in organizer with no problems).  Elements and the organizer worked perfectly fine, besides the fact that I had lost all of my tag and album info that was stored in the catalog file.
My husband purchased some file recovery software following the format of the hard drive to try and recover the catalog database file from the hard drive.  The recovery software did find the file and was able to recover it from the partition of the hard drive that had been formatted over.  Following the recovery of the file, he tried to move the file manually into the folder C:\program data\adobe\elements organizer\catalogs\my catalogs\.  Doing this replaced the new catalog file that had been recently created by photoshops elements following the reformat with the one that was recovered by the recovery software.  Next, he opened up Photoshop elements and tried to launch the organizer.  Following this, we received the following message from organizer: “the catalog could not be opened, it is either corrupt, or the version is out of date and cannot be updated”. We then clicked on ok and then tried to hit the repair button, which it then told me that the catalog file could not be repaired.  We also tried the File>Catalog> Open command in elements organizer to open the new catalog file and this gave me the same exact error message and same results.
We have also tried to run the psedbtool found on the web on the catalog file that was recovered by the recovery software.  Unfortunately, the file is unreadable by the tool and the tool gives me the following message when trying to use the tool on the recovered catalog file: "can't open catalog database: file is encrypted or is not a database". I also tried the -csv file and -printVolumeTable options of the tool and it gives me the same message.  Because I am getting this error message, it does not seem as if this tool will be able to help me with the recovered catalog database file.
Is my catalog file that I have recovered corrupt and unusable, or is there some way to get this file to work?
The recovery software I used if from Pareto Logic named "Data Recovery Pro".  Could the problem be with the recovery software and maybe a different recovery software may do a better job of recovering the file?
    Thnks for any help!

To make the story short, have you backed up your photos?  If the answer is yes then why can't you create a new catalog and import the photos to this new catalog?
To create a new catalog, the basic process is:
    1) Open the Organizer and click on File
    2) Click Catalog
    3) click New
    4) Type a name for the new catalog
    5) Click OK
Now it is a question of importing the photos to this new catalog.  the basic process is as follows:
    1) Open the Organizer and Click File
    2) Click Get Photos & Videos
    3) Click From Files and Folders
    4) click "down-arrow" icon to choose the folder
    5) CTRL+ Click on your photos to import (or CTRL + A to select all photos)
    6) click Get Media
    7) Click Show All to view your photos
Hope this gets you started.  Your formatted hard drive will not let you get your old files so you are stuck.  You should always make a habit to back-up your data on a flash drive because they are very robust and can be stored safely  away from the computer you are working on.  Your your machines own Hard Disk as a back-up store is definitively not a good strategy.

  • MDT 2012- Unattend.xml, or worse, No existing catalog file found.

Hello. Back again with a new issue.
MDT2012. Win 7 pro/ x64..  I've got a an issue with a recently Sysprep/Captured image. It was successfully captured with no errors, but won't deploy... citing
I initially had an issue with an Unattend.xml (the dreaded "5212 Welcome wizard failed" error) and it was suggested I:
Edited Unattend.xml file and : Navigated to the SPECIALIZE step
    –highlighted “”amd64_Microsoft-windows-IE-InternetExplorer_neutral”” and
edited the “”IEWelcomeMSG”” feild, and unticked “”write image value.””
This did not resolve my issue, matter of fact, it may have made things worse, but since I'm not an expert, here I am.
The image I captured has IE11 (bad idea?) and the machine is fully patched as of a week ago. My latest error is when I got BACK to UNedit the Unattend.xml file...  I'm greeted with this:
Performing operation "generate" on Target "Catalog".

Then upon closing the above window, this sits behind it: ""Unable to edit the unattend.xml for this OS because no catalog could be located or generated""
I see the (an?) error regarding NO EXISTING CATALOG FILE FOUND... as well as PROCESS IN USE BY ANOTHER..
What can I do to resolve the above? And did I give you enough info here...?
    Thanks!

The part for the disk drivers is ignore able. It applies the image to the disk perfectly it is the unatend.xml file that is missing. Also I have it set up
so if the second disk is missing that is would keep executing. You will notice this further down the line.
I have tested this on real hardware and a VM. the log that I have posted it from a VM (I typed it out by hand). The log for the real machine is basically the same except with out the disk errors (because It has two HDDs).

  • Moving existing and future catalog files (.psa) to another HD partition? (WIN-XP-Elmnts5.0)

Does anyone know how I can tell Elements 5.0 to move all files it is creating and using, from my C: partition to my D: partition? I don't want Elements using the C: drive partition for anything (especially catalogs, thumbnails, etc...).
I have already (I think?) set the default new-catalog location to the D: drive, but I want to move the existing (and huge!) "My Catalog.psa" and everything related to it, to the D: drive where the new default catalog location is.
Is there a way to do this easily? I just completed a full (initial) backup, and moved 75% of my photos offline, so all I need to do is move the catalog files associated with them. (For reference, the photos themselves are stored on the E: partition, or DVD, not on the C: or D: drives).
    THANKS!
    Eric

    first I would suggest a
    File > Catalog > Recover
on that huge My Catalog.psa because it will cleanup and compact that catalog file.
Based on a forum tip from another participant, I used SAVE AS under the File > Catalog dialog to achieve placing a catalog and its associated Catalog Folders folder (which contains thumbnail cache and offline proxies) to a different hard drive.
During this Save AS process, I gave my Catalog a different name because I thought that it was a safer approach. The Title bar of the Organizer workspace shows the Catalog name - so I like definitively knowing what catalog I am referencing based on the catalog name.
I do recommend using a different name for the catalog when using this process.
FYI - I think that you will need to do a new Full PSE Backup after you have this newly named Catalog functioning OK on the new drive - because a PSE Backup is Catalog specific.
FYI- If you ever use the PSE File > Catalog > Open dialog, it will not not initially show this new catalog on the other drive. You must navigate yourself to the drive/folder containing your catalog and then it will work. It appears to initially only list catalogs in the default location: no big deal but disconcerting if you expect it to be present in the list and it is not.
You will still have Preferences under the user's Doc and Settings and of course, the Program Files folder structure.

  • Migration of catalog file only to a new computer, keeping photos on external drive

I have PSE 10 on an old computer, and have all of my photos stored on an external hard drive.  I now have a new computer with PSE 11 on it, and I'd like to move the catalog file, which sits on the old computer to the new computer so that I can use it to see all the photos on the external drive now.  I do not want to do a full backup and restore, since the photos are staying on the same external hard drive.  I just want the file that has all the tags and organizational information to move to the new computer.  How do I do that?  The system information process on the old computer said that the catalog is named My Catalog and is in a particular directory (C:\ProgramData\Adobe\Elements Organizer\Catalogs\My Catalog\), but I don't see a file by that name when I look there, even though in control panel I have the system set to no hidden files.  Thanks for any help - I'm getting incredibly frustrated.

OK one last question - I moved the catalog file to the new computer, but I put it on the desktop. I double-clicked it and it all worked like a charm. And now all the temp files and such live there.
Is there a good way to move it into the Adobe folder? I tried moving it all into the C:\Program Files\Adobe\Elements 9 Organizer, but there isn't a "Catalog" folder like there was on the old computer. So I just moved it in the C:\Program Files\Adobe folder and double-clicked it; i got an error saying the catalog was corrupt or something. So I moved it back to the desktop and all is fine.
So how do I move it off the desktop - and where should i put it?

    Hi,
This is a common problem when you import projects to NWDS. Do like this.
1.Change to Navigator tab in NWDS and delete gen_wdp folder.
2.Switch to Web Dynpro Explorer. Select the Project -> Right click-> Select properties -> in the wizard select Java Build Path -> Select Libraries tab -> You will find jar files with warnings
3.Remove the jar and add the jar file with same name to the project one by one.
4.For each jar file repeat step 3.
    5.Save the project
    Or
removed the read-only property from all folders / files of the project and it solved my problem.
    Hope this helps!!
    Thanks & Regards

  • How to use XSJS file path in Controller.js file

    Hi Experts,
Regarding How to use XSJS file path in Controller.js file.
I have gone through the SAP HANA Extended Application Services (Thomas Jung http://scn.sap.com/community/developer-center/hana/blog/2012/11/29/sap-hana-extended-application-services article.)
Seems to be there is no information about the same. May be the article is targetted for Beginners and above. As I am a learner I am not able to do the same.
    var aUrl = '../../logic/demo_main.xsjs? (highlighted)
Suppose my XSJS file is at http://ipaddress:8000/newtest/Func.XSJS.
    Can I use like below
    var aUrl = 'http://ipaddress:8000/newtest/Func.xsjs?
    or
    var aUrl = '../../newtest/Func.xsjs?
I tried with multiple options but not able to get the expected output.
Can you please provide more details on this?

    Dear Thomas,
I am a abap developer , recently we meet a problem on our webdynpro report performnace issue. As in the development, we use SALV_WD_TABLE to design a ALV. and verything work correctly in our DEV system.
But after when our QAS system, there are more records for the ALV, one of them has 21000 records. And in the layout, we have a column as checkbox.
If we click any one checkbox, then the layout will respond almost 1~2 minutes. With debug I found the most time cost in the standard program.
And with search I found that you have solution to solve it as 1,000,000 rows.
So is it possible to provide some idea or solution to us?
    Many thanks for your help!

  • Getting the local full path name of a file from an item File Browser

    Hi all,
I would like to get the local full path name, of a file selected from an item 'File browser'.
I see in wwv_flow_files the column 'name', but actually it's a kind of id like 'F1542335/myFile.gif' for example.
What i want is the local path of this file ("C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\....\myFile.gif").
    I hope this is possible??
    Anyway, thanks all for reading.
    Ludo

Hello, thank you for the answer.
Please understand that I searched before posting, and not ony 15 min.
What i mean is that the value of a File Browser in an Apex applocation is something like 'F1542335/myFile.gif', but what I need is the local path location.
And 'F1542335/' is not the local path location, i can't use it. Or maybe there is a way to convert it in a proper path name, such as "C:\Documents and Settings\....", but I don't think so.
So my question is : how to get the local path name of a file in Apex?
I'll answer if I find some good things.
    Thanks
    Ludo
