Paths for a top shine?

I want to create a top shine for the rectangle in the image. I use the Pen tool to start the shape by drawing the left side of the path, with my plan to copy the path, paste it, flip it, and join the two parts together, fill it with white and lower the opacity.
1. Why does this path drawn with the Pen look a bit pixelated?
2. After selecting both the original path, and the newly pasted one, I select them both and Join them via Modify >Combine PAths>Join, though they do not stay connected when I click on the individual sides?
3. Is there an easier way to create a top shine type shape like this?
Thanks!

Here's something to consider if you're using your Pen tool method to create the 'top shine' shape. If you select both open paths using the Pointer tool and then apply the Join command, you'll create something called a Composite Path. Composite paths are especially useful for rendering complex shapes that contain negative space, like this:
But this method won't actually fuse your two open path segments into a single path. To see what I mean, try using the Pen tool to join the top ends of your newly joined 'top shine' curve, and you'll find that the path refuses to close. Because it's not a single path, there's no way to close it.
So instead, use the Subselection tool and drag-select the overlapping points where the two paths connect, then apply the Join command. Now you'll have a single path.
Alternatively, you could explore some of the commands available in the Path panel. "Weld points" offers another way to fuse together two path segments into one. "Join points" could be used to complete your 'top shine' shape horizontally along the top.

Turns out there were disk issues that I repaired by rebooting into Lion Recovery Mode (restart, hold Command-R during startup) and running Disk Utility. Disk Utility reported:
Volume bitmap needs minor repair for orphaned blocks
    Invalid volume free block count
It fixed both problems and the drive then verified clean.
While I was there, I also repaired permissions, though I doubt that the permission oddities were the cause of the errors.
After rebooting into normal Lion, two things happend:
Time Machine quite happily went back to work and took a backup, no issue. Several hourlies have run since then, no problems.
Spotlight did some re-indexing. This caused some hangs (spinning beachballs) at first, but it self-cleared. It definitely didn't last long enough to re-index the entire drive; I'm guessing that it needed to re-index some of the repaired sections.
So far as I know, no files were corrupted -- but the drive is about 80% free space, so odds are that the orphaned blocks were not in a critical area.

  • Set path for package InCopy

I noticed that on a Mac, when an InCopy Package file is opened, it 'unpacks' in the /user/documents folder (On a PC in 'Documents user'?).
Is this path 'hardcoded' or is there a way to set the path to a desired folder?

Gee I was hoping *you* would know, Bob! ;-)
There's no user interface for it, so I'm guessing it's hard wired.
FWIW on Windows the default location for unpacked assignments is "InCopy Assignments" at the top level of the user's My Documents folder.
More control over default file paths for saving/unpacking is a great feature request for CS4.

    Hi Markus,
I think that my problem is not completely solved.
In fact, now the IDES system is on , but I'm not able to login into it.
When I select UED system on menu of my JAVA GUI and press "connect button", I can't access to SAP login window. (see )
I'm sure that is not a "network problem" of my laptop. (the problem persist also with others SAPGUI).
I've tried to <b>reboot</b> the server, but the situation is always the same. No way to access into the system, popup "connecting" reman.
If I try to see process that are running in the server, via "top -u uedadm" command, this is the situation:

  • Relative path for images in RTF templates

    Hi everybody!
    When I insert an image in a RTF template, I put its path into the web dialog, in order to see correctly the picture when I open the report from the xmlp server, in this way: url:{"http://servername/analytics/res/Images/image.bmp"}
How can I make this path relative, in order to see the images even if the server name changes?
    Thanks so!
    Francesco

    Hi Tim,
I am using BIP 10.1.3.3.2. I am able to access system variable CURRENT_SERVER URL.
    Steps:
    <?param@begin:CURRENT_SERVER_URL?>
    <xsl:value-of select="$ CURRENT_SERVER_URL"/>
CURRENT_SERVER_URL is getting printed in BI Publisher. Value displayed is http://xx4697.xxx.co.in:9704/xmlpserver.
Now we are importing xsl into RTF template. File aaa.xsl is stored at [BIP_Installation_Directory\oc4j_bi\j2ee\home\default-web-app]
We have hardcoded the path for XSL in RTF. The path is <?import: http://xx4697.xxx.co.in:9704/aaa.xsl?>
As we want to set dynamic path we changed hardcoded xsl path to <?import: {$CURRENT_SERVER_URL}/../aaa.xsl?> but it is not working. Sometimes BIP is taking local path of MyDocuments folder and sometimes Desktop path. If I put that XSL file in MyDocuments folder or Desktop, it is working fine. But ideally it should refer [BIP_Installation_Directory\oc4j_bi\j2ee\home\default-web-app] path...
    Thanks,

    Hi all, here is what I'm trying to do;
    1. Search C:\ drive for winword.exe
    2. take the file path and save it as a variable.
    3. Then based on the path value, use the switch statement to run "some command"
Essentially I'm trying to find what the file path for winword.exe is, then run a command to modify the registry.  I already have the script that will modify the registry like I want but the problem it, the path is hard coded in the script, I want to
now look for all versions of word and set the right file path so I can make the right registry changes.

    Hi,
the embedded OC4J has its configuration files at

However, if you use relative addressing then web applications try to find them relative to the public_html directory of the Viewlayer project

Thanks in advanceI wonder how that would work then. Let's take a fictive example. You have a class com.mycompany.myapp.Foo. This would mean that the class is stored in some directory like this:
c:/webrootdir/myapp/WEB-INF/classes/com/mycompany/myapp/Foo.classTo be able to run such a class from the commandline using Java, you would have to invoke this command:
java -cp c:/webrootdir/myapp/WEB-INF/classes com.mycompany.myapp.FooHow would knowing the exact path to this class help you?

You can achive it using the deployment scripts if the directory is changing on the basis of the environment
If you want to change at run time than you can use the jca properties to set using the variables at runtime.

// get real path to your file

The problem I am running into and I cannot see how to fix is that there are a couple of topics that have images where instead of the path for the image directed to a folder called "Images" in the main directory, it dumps the graphic into the project manager window when I import the topic. I tried viewing topics that don't have their images on the main project manager window, and comparing against the one that does, and I cannot see the difference. I have tried renaming the images and placing in the correct folders, and then inserting the images into the topics, but it still tries to look at the main folder and still dumps the image into the project manager.
Any help you can provide please share.

I am going to say yes (because it sounds like what I am trying to get at, but not sure).....I have tried deleting the images, and recreating, and then re-inserting into the topic, and they still go to the root of project. As I am going along, I am finding more and more.....so far there are 20 images that are doing this.  However, I also just did what you mentioned and dragged it and put it under the topic. But I am still confused as to why I would need to do this for some topics and for other topics the images don't appear at all (meaning they don't show under topics or root of project), they are just linked through the folder on the main directory. Does this image help more?
Left of picture above: The folder directory has a folder called Images, and this is where all of the images were stored and are stored for the new project.
Middle of picture above: The topic Horizontal Command had an image in it "image20.gif", and it was at the root directory and as you suggested I moved to the topic. Also see the topic circled Expand and Collapse Folders topic has the image circled at the left within it.
What I am trying to understand is why would the graphic from the Horizontal command topic dump into the root of the project, while the image from the Expand and Collapse Folders topic not show on the root project or even within the topic listed. (Which is what I prefer for all topics).

  • Absolute/Relative Path for elements in xml to rtf template.

    Hi all,
I have a small doubt, can anyone help me come out of this issue.
I developed a BI Publisher Report using RTF Template and I am addressing XML elements which are out of the group in the XML file inside the for loop in the RTF template. I am able to get the body of the table but with all blank values on the output.
I thought to give the full path ie., Absolute path instead only the element name, can anyone suggest me how to address an element outside the group in XML file from a for loop in the RTF template. Is it possible to address like that.?
    Thanks In advance.

    Hi Tim,
I am using BIP 10.1.3.3.2. I am able to access system variable CURRENT_SERVER URL.
    Steps:
    <?param@begin:CURRENT_SERVER_URL?>
    <xsl:value-of select="$ CURRENT_SERVER_URL"/>
    Thanks,
    Amit D

  • Inventory Report-Replacement path for Base UOM to Case and Standrad Cost

Hi, We have a Scenario as below:
    Question1:
We have a multiprovider contains 4 infocubes and 2 Master Data objects
    a.Demand
    b.Inventory
    c.Sales Orders
    d.In Transit
    Master Data objects
    a. Material (contains Base UOM to Case as Key Figure Attribute and also Base UOM as an attribute)
    b. Material Location (Contains material as an attribute and also Standard Cost as a Key Figure attribute)
At the report level two formula variables are defined with replacement path for showing the Base UOM to Case and Standard Cost in columns.
We have 4 reports on this multiprovider. There is a dialy sales report which gives the following details
Material, Location, MRP Controller, CalDay, Base UOM, Actual Sales(AS), Dependent Demand(DD), Consumption Qyt(CQ), Base to Case UOM, Standard Cost
In this report for all the records the Base to UOM and Standard Cost column is coming with values which is nothing but the replacement path on the material master key figure attribute. Though this report is on the multiprovider all the major keyfigures (AS, DD and CQ) are coming from a single cube( this is an observation from myside).
We have another report which is the Inventory Report with the following details:
Material, Location, MRP Controllder, Calday, Base UOM,      Unrestricted Inventory(UI), committed Inventory(CI), Back Order Qty(BOQ), In Transit by Sh/Rec(ITS), In Transit Pipeline(ITP), On Order Qty (OOQ), Current Inventory Position (CIP), Quality Inspection Stock(QIS), Block Stock(BS), Base to Case UOM, Standard Cost
Now in this report for all the records the Base to Case UOM and standrad cost is not showing up. Is there anything which needs to be done in order to get the Base to Case UOM and standard cost for all the records.
    Question2:
When Non-Cumulative and Cumulative key figures are combined at the multi provider and also at the report level, will there be any problem?
    Regards
    Vijay

    Hi,
I think you can proceed with virtual characteristics for this.In the code you can truncate the time and you can display on the date:

  • Could there be independent VI paths for different versions of LabVIEW?

    Hello,
When jumping between different versions of LabVIEW (6.1, 7.1, 8.5) it is annoying that the current path for one becomes the current path for the other.
If I am working with LV 7.1 in a folder dedicated to 7.1 VI's, and then open LV 8.5, I don't want 8.5 to go to that 7.1 folder by default.  Alternately. if I was working in LV 8.5, closed it out, and then I click on a 7.1 VI, I don't want it to open in LV 8.5.
I've tried changing the path options in each version of LabVIEW, but that doesn't seem to help.  Is there any way of isolating these folder paths from one another?  One of our newer LV guys accidently opened some 7.1 code in 8.5.1 and then saved it.  Luckily, I had archived code to return to, but it could have been a disaster.
    Thanks for any ideas,
    McSynth

You're actually asking two different questions.
The first question has to do with which version of LabVIEW gets launched when you double-click a file. This is an operating system thing. The one that gets launched is the last one that got used. (Your first question will be: can this be changed? Answer: Change the operating system. Or, play around with the registry each time you quit out LabVIEW.)
The second question has to do with search paths. These are independent. However, a VI will contain information about its subVIs in terms of where to find them. This is not a function of LabVIEW, as it is a function of the VI. Thus, it will make no difference which version of LabVIEW you use to open the VI. You can, if you wish, modify the search paths that LabVIEW uses to find VIs for each version of LabVIEW from the Tools->Options menu. However, this will not eliminate the problem, and your best bet is to keep those backups frequent.
