Patience running thin. max HEIGHT after I publish to bizcat.

what a piece of garbage. this is only reason i joined creative cloud. I have a site in progress and when i publish it to view in on business catalyst, the resulting site seems to have a max height, cutting off everything below 600px. All else is working fine on other sites where site properties, footer, header, etc are in common.
Can I upload my files for staff member to view and let me know what’s going on.
It is a cross browser problem. it works in preview mode, but after it is published there is something lost, or added in translation.
Please help - my patience for trial and error is running thin.

The following email was sent yesterday, and since then I have published the site to a third part host, go daddy, and the problem was carried over to them as well. http://kinetikartz.com/
Obviosly this is a much larger problem than i had anticipated, which allows me to conclude that muse is the problem and not bizcatalyst.
An accurate preview comes when i "Preview" the page within muse, as well as when i "Preview in Browser (all browsers)." Fail seems to come upon uploading to 3rd party FTP. I'm not sure if it is worth exporting the muse file then uploading it to godaddy but i'll give it a shot. Time is of the essence may be an overstatement, but it is surely an unexpected distraction, and hopefully a problem with a solution, and to be even more optimistic, a problem on my part so I can be sure to avoid it later under my own control rather than crossing my fingers in hopes that a muse bug may falter my efforts of the 99% of my work which went into the site pre-publishing.

HP xw8600 workstation fans run at max all the time after upgrading CPUs and memory

Hello, This is my 1st post on the forums here so I would like to thank everyone for the help ahead of time. I have an HP xw8600 workstation on which I have upgraded the CPUs and RAM recently - after the upgrade the fans seem to spin at full speed all the time (not just under load). Before the upgrading the fans were barely heard but afterwords the workstation has become very loud. This seems odd that the fans always run fast now and seems like this is not "normal" - what needs to be done to allow the fans to again be modulated by load/temp settings as designed? I looked in the temp and fan RPM settings in the BIOS and it looks like all sensors are working (including ambient temp sensor - was stating around 20 deg. C). Hardware changes:Before - CPU: 2x Intel Xeon X5460/ 3.16 GHz, 12MB L2, 1333 MHz, FSB,120WRAM: HP 32GB (16x2GB) DDR2-667 ECC FBD RAM - using RAM riser After -CPU: 2x Intel Xeon X5492/ 3.40 GHz, 12MB L2, 1600 MHz, FSB,150WRAM: HP 32GB (8x4GB) DDR2-800 ECC FBD RAM - using RAM riser NOTE: From the HP spec sheet it says that 32GB(8x4GB) is not supported by 5492... Acoustics waiver required. Other than the constantly loud fans the workstation works perfectly with the new setup. The xw8600 has a motherboard firmware setting that if it detects high powered processors in place it wants to see the "double tall" performance heatsink/double fans per heatsink in place. I have posted about that and how I rewired a double tall to use side by side in my xw8400 next to a single tall heatsink/fan to see how cooling was affected in that workstation. The xw8400 did not ever come with double tall performance heatsinks, to my knowledge, so its motherboard's firmware is different. In those posts I also explained how to do a simple jumper wire modification on a single tall heatsink to spoof the xw8600 into thinking it had a double tall/two fans in place over each processor. Simple and quick. So, you might want to get a couple of double talls off eBay, or try the jumper wire trick. I'd personally advise to get the double tall heatsinks given that you're running 150W max TDP processors. If I remember correctly HP wanted you to use the double talls for 120W max TDP and above. I'd feel comfortable using that trick on a set of 120 watt processors if I was not hammering them frequently, but it sounds like you're a high level power user. The all-fans-on-high can be due to a failed thermisitor in the front power cable reading ambient air temps too high, but you can check that in BIOS to see the temp and it sounds like yours is not elevated incorrectly. You can search for my experience with that in a xw6600, and it is an easy $8.00-$12.00 fix with a new cable off eBay. You'd want the longer version for the xw8600, versus the shorter one for the xw6600. Finally, maybe you've just gone too high in your total wattage use? Those risers can run hot and draw lots of power. Could you live with less ram and get rid of the risers using 4GB sticks? Sometimes those prior prohibitions regarding what is and is not supported go away with later BIOS updates. Is your BIOS the latest? Welcome, and let us know what turns out to be the problem so others can benefit too. Scott

I created eight web pages with hyperlinks on photos and text. The photo hyperlinks work, but the text links do not.
Some of my formatting has changed after publishing. Most common example, I have a thin, white line above several photos. I've tried several ways to correct the problems, all to no avail.

The easiest way to get rid of this white line...click on the affected photo, open up the Inspector and click on the Ruler tab. Now increase the height of the photo by one or two pixels. This should work.
The other method is to select the affected photo, open up the Inspector to the Shapes tab and change the opacity of the photo to 99%. This should also work.
Basically, both methods work by forcing iWeb to re-render the image as PNG by changing the photo ever so slightly.

After you publish to a folder, just select the folder in the Finder and type "Apple-i" to get the size of the folder. Is this what you are after?

4x NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT cards in a Mac Pro run below max supported speed

Hi,
We have 4 "identical" NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT 256MB cards in one Mac Pro (to support 8 DVI monitors for a Network Operations Center). One card came with the system, the other cards were purchased from Apple at the same time. This was a refurbished computer, so we didn't have the build-to-order option. I put identical in quotes because they seem to have different ROM revisions.
The system mainly shows graphs on webpages and HP OpenView (via X11), so no heavy-duty gaming or refreshes.
We have been running with 6 monitors for the past 4 months with the following monitors:
- 1x 42" LCD with 1280x768, 32 bit color, DVI
- 5x 22" LCD with 1680x1050, 60Hz, 32 bit color, DVI
When I restart the system, at least one of the 22" monitors takes 5 or 10 minutes of flashing on then off (mostly off) before it finally syncs up and shows a constant image. The 42" LCD won't go to its native resolution (can't recall what that is right now), so have to go down to a less optional 1280x768. In the next day or so, I'll be connecting one more identical 22" LCD and then soon after another 42" monitor, but am wondering if they will work. Yesterday, I saw a post about firmware update for this video card (http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/geforce7300gtfirmwareupdate.html). I also noticed that two of the cards have ROM Revision 3008 and two have 3011 ROM Revision of the cards (in System Profiler). I'm not sure yet if this firmware update increases the ROM Revision.
Running the Expansion Slot Utility (/System/Library/CoreServices/) shows that my PCI Express profile is set to Two x8 Lane + Two x4 Lane slots. All slots say that they are running below maximum speed.
The store.apple.com site still shows this configuration as a valid build-to-order, but I wonder if they do something different or extra.
Does anyone else have experience with 4 of these video cards with this many monitors?
Any experience with the Firmware Upgrade that I should know about?

No, the system is upright, but the cards are horizontally seated. Pardon my ascii art, but here's the layout if I look from the back of the Mac Pro:

| DVI DVI ---->> slot 1
So, there are two DVI ports on each card (which is in a slot). I'm not sure which lane is which.
Either the left (as pictured) is lane 1, or the right (as pictured) is lane 2.
i ask because i'm wondering if your reproducing the way the expansion slot utility is graphically portraying it. I'm pretty sure the utility is showing the slots as if the mac is upright and the person is looking into the side of it with the access panel off.

I think that you have 2 and 3 reversed.
i would suggest trying the third configuration thusly;
slot4__x8__22" and 22"
slot3__x1__22" and empty
slot2__x8__42" and 22" flasher
slot1__x8__22" and 22"
in other words, check off the third configuration in the utility, then
exchange the connections on the second and third cards, leaving the first and fourth cards be.

as far as running below max speed, i figure as long as your workload doesn't suffer, then its fine.
Oh, and another question, does it always, always flash when you boot-up?
Do you guys shut down the system every night?
We rarely reboot it, and I'm not the only one that would see it reboot. This system is in a 24x7 Network Operations Center. I just know that rebooting takes a while for the monitor to come up all of the way.

Error while running Enterprise Manager 11gR1 after installation

Dear All,
I have just installed Oracle 11gR1 on centOS 5 operating system. During installation I checked the option to create sample schema. During installation the installer displayed some error message regarding Enterprise Manager and told that you can run the script manually after installation is complete with the script location i.e /<oracle_home>/bin/emca
After installtion i have run the script BUT now when i try to start dbconsole it fails.
When i run emctl status agent it says agent is not running.

Request to run updater.exe from an unknown publisher starting firefox

every time Firefox is started from initial turn on of computer (not from the computer being hibernated or in sleep mode), I receive a message to run Updater.exe from an Unknown Publisher. There is nothing to show that this is a Firefox application but, I am not receiving any threat messages either. Is there any way to find out where this Updater is coming from and if it is to be trusted?

Do you use a Norton security suite? If so, I suggest checking with Norton's support on whether that prompt is legitimate.
You will find numerous unofficial distributors advertising on Google for Firefox downloads. These generally are bundles of crap along with Firefox. You should check to make sure you don't have such a thing installed.
Open the Windows '''Control Panel''', Uninstall a Program. After the list loads, click the "Installed on" column heading to group the infections, I mean, additions, by date. This can help surface undisclosed bundle items that snuck in with some software you agreed to install. Take out as much trash as possible here.
You can supplement your regular security software with the '''scanning/cleaning tools''' listed in our support article: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware]]. These on-demand scanners are free and take considerable time to run. If they finish quickly and especially if they require payment, you may have a serious infection. I suggest the specialized forums listed in the article in that case.

Picture files only partially display after being published

Recently .jpg and .png pictures I have created only partially display after being published. I've tested it using Paint, Publisher and Gimp with mixed results. The pictures display correctly when I view them locally on my pc.

The only pictures that fully display are those that were taken from a camera, but after I resized one in paint, it also didn't display properly. My question really is, is this an issue with Microsoft Expression Web or with the server hosting the files?

Publisher is NOT a photo editing program. Neither is Word. Nor is Paint.
You need a real, and simple, photo editing program. Paint.NET is a good, free one. I find GIMP cumbersome (but it's batch processing is handy). And your graphics aren't being created and saved properly. For example, the events.html page has graphics on it
that total well over 3 MegaBytes! Pity the poor soul with a wireless connection. The graphics on the events.html page are largely illegible, and as such serve no real purpose (and make the site look bad).
Let's take an example...on the home page gallery is a graphic for the 2015 Chamber Scholarship. It's displayed at 525 x 340 pixels, yet the image sitting on the server (and which must be downloaded by the visitor) is 1275 x 825 pixels. So you have an unnecessarily
large graphic taking space on the server, having to download to the visitor's computer at full size, and then be shrunk by the browser to only 17% of the original area. That file should be created and saved in a proper graphics program at the final size you
plan to use (and in this case, use PNG format). The larger file takes at least 5 times the storage space on the server as a properly sized file (and takes 5 times as long to download and upload).
I've superimposed the display size on top of the full size and shrunk them down to display here in the forum. See below.
All the graphics that I have checked on your site have the same problem, and if your site has been up a long time and you haven't cleaned out the old files on the server, you may have run out of server space, which would corrupt the new files.
Smaller files will also upload faster and more reliably. Plus--browsers stink at resizing graphics. Do that in a proper graphics program to get the best quality.
Use JPG for photos, GIF for hard-edge graphics with few colors and no gradations/shading, and PGN for hard-edge graphics with full color and gradations/shading. And make sure you are saving the images in the proper version of the format (RGB for web).

Why no min/max height?

Since I've started creating responsive content with Edge, once thing has really bugged me - and that's the omission of a Min H and Max H alongside Min W and Max W. I've been told it's not necessary as height can be constrained to width, but I still find myself needing it.
Two scenarios I've frequently come across:
• An object is set to 100% width. When a window is resized to a landscape orientation, I want an object's maximum width dictated by it's height to prevent it taking up too much space in the layout. For example, in portrait layout it may be W100%, H10% - turn that to landscape and it might become W100%, H60% if I've constrained the proportions. I want to be able to cap it at say H30%, so after a certain point it's just the width that changes and not the height.
• I have a series of square images nested within a horizontal scrollable div. I want these images to stay in proportion but always fill to H100% of the container div, regardless of its shape (portrait, landscape). It seems to simple but I just can't make it work without a min/max H functionality.
Can anyone explain why this feature is missing?

As you know, IE doesn't support min/max-height/width.
With regard to HEIGHT, you can work around IE's lack of support for min-height since the way that IE deals with an explicit height is as if it were min-height. For example, if you have this CSS:
#foo { min-height:250px; }
you can *hack* a fix for IE like this -
#foo {
     min-height:250px;
     _height:250px;
The "_height" style is ignored by all browsers except IE<8. For those versions of IE that 'read' that style, they interpret it as 'height' and since IE treats an explicit height value as if it were 'min-height' you are set. Another way (and a cleaner way in my opinion) would be to add an IE conditional comment to the page, e.g.,

That takes care of min-height.
The solutions for max-height or min/max-width are not so simple. Google for IE CSS calculations to see how you might approach them.

Cp 5.5 - after i publish my cp5.5 project, the swf (or exe) won't play, just sits there

Hi all, i've been struggling with this for 2 hours and can't figure it out, hopefully it's something basic I'm doing wrong. I have a project that works fine in Preview mode in captivate (5.5). After i publish, though, to either Flash or exe, and try to view the swf (or exe), it doesn't play. it just sits on the first slide, the audio that should begin doesn't begin and the slide doesn't progress. No way to get the file to start playing. I was working on other projects all morning, that all published fine, the only difference between this file and the earlier ones is tht this one has different scoring settings and a slightly different skin (fewer nav buttons). Windows XP. And as i said, i have never seen this before and have published alot of projects successfully of late. Any suggestions? i thought maybe the file name had gotten to long, with my directory structure, but moving it up a level didn't seem to help.

i am trying to run the 'connector' example that comes bundled with smartfoxserver2x downloads..there it connects to the server and loads the correct configuration file. when i run it in adobe flash professional 5,it runs correctly and connects to the server but after being published as SWF movie,it doesnt work.it loads the configuration file but cant connect and gives error connection failure..ERROR 2048

that's probably a local security restriction you have. reset it to allow your swf to communicate across your local sandbox to the internet: http://www.macromedia.com/support/documentation/en/flashplayer/help/settings_manager04.htm l
or test online.

If your fonts are changing when viewed on other computers - epecially those running windows - you need to look at using web-safe fonts...

Fan running at ax speed after keyboard change / Ts0P error (solved)

Hi everyone.
I replaced my macbook pro keyboard and when i rebooted fan started to run at max speed.
I runned the hardware check and it gave me an error on the lap rest thermal sensor ( 4SNS/1/40000000 Ts0P ).
I found the solution after a while so I want to share it here:
1° you can change the sensor (there are tutorial on the web : http://www.henrycipolla.com/blog/2011/05/macbook-pro-fix-4sns140000000-tsop-by-r eplacing-palm-rest-sensor-fixes-fan-constantly-at-100/ )
This is the safer option, but more expensive - i choosed the other way.
2° you can software adjust the fan speed you'll need three softwares:
(disclaimer you will tweak fan settings : do it at your own risks, i only guarantee it worked on my Mac )
smcFanControl http://www.eidac.de/
fanControl http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/23137/fan-control (the setting on the screenshot looks good)

install the two first
open preferences / Fancontrol and set it up as you like.
open terminal ,
go to your download folder
$ cd ~/Downloads/TempCtrl
launch the install script
$ ./install.sh
How does it works?
smcFanControl shows you the temperature and an screen , it provides the script an utility to change the max fan speed.
fanControl sets the minimum fan speed according to the computer temperature: the purpose of this tool is to keep your mac not too warm.
the script adds a deamon to set a maximum fan speed , every 10 s, safely above the minimum fan speed. Then your fan speed is bounded by fancontrol and my script around the value where it should be.
note: the controls from the smcFanSpeed menu do not work: they are constantly overriden by fancontrol an the script. It is a sign the two other works fine.
note 2: with fanControl if you change the base speed (either way) you chood hear a fan speed change and see the value change.
note 3: in terminal the following command should have an output every 10 seconds roughly showing you fan 0 min and max speed:
$ tail -F /usr/bin/tempcontr/templog.txt
note 4: you can uninstall my script (from the same folder as above) with
$ cd ~/Downloads/TempCtrl
$ ./unsintall.sh

My machine is a late 2006 17" mbp with an early 2008 keyboard/top-plate in it. This combination shows a tsop error and it is very sensitive to temp. If the machine is really cold it will start out slow and the eventually end up at full speed even though the computer is still quite cool. Swapping back to a 2006 keyboard/top-plate reverts it back to normal operation (but has bad keys and some wear and tear which is why I wanted to use the newer top). So I thought your script would help me out but it doesn't seem to be doing anything. The templog file immediately shows 1618 and 1562 for min and max but doesn't seem to update and my fans are running at 6k. Any thoughts?

Macbook pro unibody (late '08) fans running at max on startup

recently i was playing a game at a friends house, plugged in of course, and my computer shut off. i realized that though my friend said the socket was on, he had forgotten to turn it on....
so it shut off. upon turning the power on and having it show up again, i quit the game and the fans were running on high. i restarted the computer, and noticed that the fans were running on MAX on startup, going back down to normal speeds after 5 minutes (along with my computer starting up alot slower than usual). I reset the SMC (or it seems like i did..) and i repaired disk permissions, and tried repairing the disk too but still nothing. any help please?

Did you repair the disk, or didn't you? If not, you need to. Abrupt shutdowns can be hard on the disk directory.

My .MP4 video file won't "play video full screen" in Muse after I publish my .OAM out of Edge Animate. When I "Preview In Browser" through Edge it plays (I have created a shape and used the "play video full screen" snippet) in full screen mode just fine. When I "Preview Site In Browser" through Muse and click on the shape to PLAY VIDEO FULL SCREEN, it does nothing. I am new to both programs and can't figure out why it will work out of the preview window in Edge and won't work when I publish to Muse. Does anybody have an answer or a work-around for me?

However when I close Nunit, the page is back to be normal. The title is returned to the name of website without "not responding". I sure this problem did not happen on Firefox version 26. I just got this problem when firefox upgrading automatically to version 27. Please help me fix this problem because it is very important for my work. Hi, the work around suggested above should put you in working mode in the meantime. However to help investigate the issue it is possible to analyze what is not loading or taking a long time by analyzing the network traffic or http headers of the Nunit web page.
