As frusterating as it is, patience is the only thing thats going to work here. The software and beta drivers for Vista? for all intents and purposes?do not work. Since the tentati've release date for working software and drivers is March 8th, its not too far away. I am running a dual boot system, running Xp pro basically for sound applications only. Playing around with vista's sound when I have a few moments, the one thing I find is that in Vista, the environment changes every reboot, sometimes there is some sound, although not very impressi've, and others no sound at all. The same thing that everyone else is going through. Soundblasters never have run well in Media player as far as I am concerned. Media player to me always sounded rather lame and flat. The only thing I use an X-fi for is music and video, so, I am not troubled by the gaming problems that have some people on here choked. Understandably. There is really really good news though. February only has 28 days !!! Before you know it, the new drivers and software wil be here and we will have a whole lot of other problems and issues to yell and have cardiac arrests over. So, maybe instead of risking injury to your hairline and rapped knuckles from CL Mods for venting. Go back to XP Pro keeping in mind, only a few short weeks away, all will be again as it should be. Someone made a purchase from my Apple ID to a device that was not mine – I received an email stating that this occurred, yet the only solution that Apple gave me was to change my password. When I look at my account, I can see the $20.00 purchase of music volumes that I did not purchase myself and was not uploaded to any of my devices; however, I cannot find a solution to getting my money back or to file a complaint against the unknown person that did this. Additionally, how do we prevent something like this from happening again, especially when I have an iPhone? What can I do in this situation?
Thank you for the suggestion. I did change the password; however, I generally will purchase gift cards to link to the account so that if something like this ever happened it would not be taken out of a credit card or bank account.

How do I change an Apple ID payment method to 'None'? I've tried everything and I found the only solution is to apply all over again with another e-mail address. Any other options?
Buy an iTunes Music Card and redeem it to your account - the "none" option should be available then.

My Blackberry 8520 curve suddenly hangs giving a white screen and when i restart it - the screen remains white. After i put it into charge - then only a successful start is done. So the only solution as of now i have - is whenever my blackberry hangs - i need to remove the battery - insert it again - and immediately put it into charging via USB/Electric-Power. Even if i re-insert the battery - the white screen comes - unless and until i put it into charging Earlier i was guessing - my battery was weak - but no such problem. pls advise.

LR has stopped working several times when I use the Import command (button and from File menu) - Windows gives the options of waiting or closing LR. I have waited for 30 mnutes but nothing happens. This pre and post-dates the latest LR upgrade. I'm using Windows8 and have only had problems in recent days. The only solution I can see is to restart my PC. What's happening - any ideas?

Yes, I imported some .CR2 files taken from home to the office and imported them into an existing catalog there. And yes, they're shown okay. Plus other 2006 files (from the same camera, I usually import into both) are okay too. There are some .XMP files in some 2006 folders, but not many. I will take the catalogue (sorry, got caught up in the Yank spelling) from home to the office on Monday and try importing that, hadn't thought of that. The photo's won't be in the same folder structure though and not all will be there.
Apologies for not answering the other question, I am a person who came from the Pixmantec RawShooter background and would have still been using that program then. The .RWSettings folders are still in the folder structure. I am pretty careful with my .CR2 files and try not to use any programs that would directly edit them. I have backups on DVD, but I haven't tried them. I also have another copy of some 2006 files on another HDD and have tried importing them tonight into the new catalog with no change in behaviour.
I will also try setting the camera date to 2006, take some new pics and see what happens.
Apologies, too, about the apostrophes, my dear Mum would be most embarressed at me. Can't edit them now, history has passed by!

mackeeper has detected a virus in the time capsule backup, it is not possible to delete the infected file. Do I mount time capsule in finder and then consign to junk the whole computer backup then create a fresh backup? Is that the only solution please.
Follow these instructions to uninstall MacKeeper. They have been tested with the most recent version of MacKeeper. Earlier versions than the one released in 2012 require more extensive work to uninstall all its components. Never install such junk on a Mac.
If you actually used MacKeeper to alter your system, e.g. "remove excess binaries" or such, you will need to reinstall OS X as well as all your additional software. Uninstalling MacKeeper is insufficient to reverse the corruption it is capable of - once again, that is if you used it.
If you merely installed MacKeeper but did not use it to perform any particular action, the following instructions will suffice.
If you used MacKeeper to encrypt any files or folders, use MacKeeper to un-encrypt them first.
Quit the MacKeeper app if it is running.
Open your Applications folder: Using the Finder's Go menu, select Applications.
Drag the MacKeeper icon from your Applications folder (not the Dock) to the Trash.
You will be asked to authenticate (twice):
You do not need to provide a reason for uninstalling it:
Just click the Uninstall MacKeeper button. You will be asked to authenticate again.
After it uninstalls you may empty the Trash and restart your Mac. All that will remain is an inert log file that does nothing but occupy space on your hard disk.
May I suggest that you review the following setting in System Preferences?
Although you may easily override that setting, it will serve to protect you from inadvertently installing garbage. The overwhelming majority of Macs I come across have the MacKeeper installer file already present in their Downloads folder, often multiple copies of it. The downloaded file itself can do nothing until it is opened and installed, and the above setting (known as Gatekeeper - not to be confused with MacKeeper) will prevent that from occurring. -
I've bought an Iphone 4S in the UK. Using the phone in Argentina, it displays the "No Service" and "Invalid SIM" errors sporadically. The only solution is to reset the phone (switching it ON/OFF). Also most of the time, the SMS are not sent nor received...
The phone was checked by my carrier (phone company, Movistar) and they replaced the micro SIM card. bear in mind that there's no Apple shop here and the Iphone 4S is NOT available in Argentina!!!

I've received an email with a solution to the problem; you have to update to the new iOS 5.0.1 firmware (9A406)!! It's been 1Hour and so far my iPHone 4S is working just fine. Please follow carefully the below instructions:
RUN A FULL BACK UP BEFORE DOING ANY OF THIS
1. Download the new iOS 5.0.1 firmware (9A406) from the internet. (800MB)
2. Connect your iPhone 4S to iTunes.
3. Once connected, two options will show: ‘restore’ and ‘check for update’.
4. Press down SHIFT and choose ‘check for update’. (if you click ‘check for update’ without pressing down SHIFT doesn’t work.)
5. Select the new firmware (9A406). Note that the file should be renamed ‘iPhone4,1_5.0.1_9A406_Restore.ipsw’ (instead of ‘iPhone4,1_5.0.1_9A406_Restore.zip’), i.e. changing the file extension from ZIP to IPSW. iTunes will now work alone and update your iPhone 4S.
A full back up is recommended before firmware upgrade.

I watched a video on my iphone, and it worked fine.
I wanted to watch it on our MacBook for sound and clarity, and every time I accessed it, it locked up. To the point that the only solution was holding down the power button.
Everything else worked, and I could freely enter information and open other Facebook entries, but when hitting the "play" button or clicking on the video it immediately bought up the spinning beach ball, and would never clear. Any solutions?Did you try viewing the video in a different browser? Firefox or Chrome maybe?

I work remotely using my Macbook Pro (OS X 10.5.8) to connect to my office PC. I have always had issues using my "computer name" with the RDC but have no problem when using the IP address. Two weeks ago my company upgraded their server and ever since I have been unable to access the server. My coworkers (who use Macs) are not having the same problems as me. My IT guy was able to connect using my Mac, his security clearance and IP address. However, I no longer have the option of using the IP address to log in - per my IT guy. My IT guy is a PC guy so he suggested that I take my computer to Apple to see whats blocking me.
I met with Apple support at the Genius bar yesterday and was told basically it could be a problem with my computer and I needed to wipe it clean and start over. This was the proposed solution to the problem but the Mac guy I spoke with didn't seem completely sure this would solve / is the cause of the problem. Does anyone have any suggestions for figuring out what the root problem is prior to me wiping my Mac? Has anyone had issues working with remote desktop connection from their Mac connecting to a PC?

Also, try connecting the iPod via a different USB port.
You may want to try putting the iPod in Disk Mode prior to connecting it and see if you are able to restore it (while it is in Disk Mode)...

Finally, if you can't get the iPod to restore, then try connecting it and opening My Computer. Does the iPod show up in My Computer? Try right clicking it and going to Format. Does anything happen?

When I plug in my new iPhone 5 to sync with my computer it tells me I need iTunes 7. I tried to download it, but it will not load on my computer because I need a software upgrade to 10.6.8, which from what I understand is a paid upgrade to snow leopard. I cannot find it anywhere! All of our stores that sell Apple products do not carry it anymore. My computer is a MacBook I bought in late August 2008, the ONLY thing wrong with it after all these years is this particular problem. I thought Apple products were superior because of their long life in comparison to other computers, why would Apple shorten the lifespan of its product by no longer supporting it with software??
10.6 Snow Leopard will run on any Intel mac. So that's any Mac made in the last 6 years. Snow Leopard came out in July 2009 and only cost $29. So you had over 3 years to have upgraded your MacBook.
You're willing to pay a couple of hundred dollars for a new phone but not the $29 in the last three years to have upgraded your OS on your MacBook.
The Snow Leopard 10.6 DVD should still be available from Apple for $20. You will have to call Apple Customer Care 1-800-692-7753 or 1-800-676-2775 to purchase it. It may still be in the Legacy Products list. The App Store which is required to download 10.7 Lion or 10.8 Mountain Lion is part of the 10.6.6 update.
If they no longer have any in stock you will have to buy it from eBay or Apple resellers that still have stock. But you will have to pay a premium since the DVDs are no longer being made. Snow Leopard DVDs are already up to $100 on Amazon.

Firefox will not open a file requiring javascript, then hangs; forced close is the only solution
Firefox 3.6.6 opens OK. Browsing OK, until I try to open a file that requires Java. The file will not open & Firefox immediately hangs. The only way out is a forced closure. Often getting a "This is embarrassing message" at the Firefox start-up. 2 choices are given - start new session or start up with previous tabs.

Well, I'm seeing other anomalies now, and it looks like almost any live database can be affected, I've now read a report of a wiped Entourage database now, which required restoring from an earlier backup (not from TM).
I have now turned off Time Machine, and intend to just run it manually once a day when I'm not working on anything. It's possible it may even be better to quit all running apps as well.
I wonder if some more options may be better for Time Machine, maybe a user configurable daily backup, very much as we have with Backup, and have a warning dialogue that it's going to run, so you have time to stop working on any data files. Even just a countdown warning anyway might be helpful in the interim.Troubleshooting the wireless connection after the error occurs is a good place to start.
I would also reccomend checking the Windows 8 Power Options. You can access this from the desktop mode, slide the charm bar out and select Settings, Control Panel, Hardware and Sound, Power Options. Depending on the Power Plans selected can effect what applications are enabled upon awaking from sleep mode. For our troubleshooting purposes lets place it on Max Performance for both A/C and Battery Connection.
If the Max Performace does not change the WiFi from disabling upon sleep mode try checking to make sure you have all of the updated versions of the drivers. You can find your the drivers for your X1 here.
Let me know if either of these work fo you. If not we can look deeper in to the problem to help find a solution.

UCSM response slow, hung sometimes, restart is the only solution?

We have multiple(>80) clients connecting to UCSM and retrieve responses (xml api), sometimes UCSM wont respond and hung.
We are restarting FICs to fix this problem. I'm not sure this is the right way, do you recommend to restart or fix something better way?
ThanksHaving the same problem with our UCS servers. TAC has told me this is a problem with the 1.4(1) and 1.4(2) BIOS. Supposedly there is a fix coming late next week. So basically the CIMC and SSH to the UCS will not respond and power cycling is the only way to fix this. If you are running VMWare on these UCS hosts, your vCenter will also lockup when trying to manage them. There is a fix for that from VMware:

So while I may be able to manage my VM's from vCenter, I am still unable to get to my CIMC, but atleast I can get to my VM's.

Iphoto can´t find my photos, is creating a new library the only solution?
Ok, I am having a hard time understanding iPhoto and its libaries. There are two parts of my question;
1.
I imported all my photos which I had on an external hard drive. I then changed my mind and copied them to the harddrive, and also kept thm on the external as a backup.
Now iPhoto cant find any of the photos. The thumbnails are there, but every time I doubleclick on an image, an error message appears The volume for “x.jpg” cannot be found.
I have about 14.000 pictures, so to sit and "find photo" one by one would take a very long time...
Is there another way to make iPhoto find all the images again?

I think I found one soulution to this, but Im not sure Im doing it right. What I did was that I downloaded "iPhoto library manager", created a new library, named it "No.2" and imported all the photos again into that library. This seems to be working fine. However, when I click the default library in Finder, it says that it takes up 9 GB of my harddrive. Can I delete this library? Or will it affect iPhoto since it is the default library?
I am completely new to Mac and still stuck in Windows-land. So if anyone can help me with this it is much appreciated!

Also, i have another question you might have an answer to. When I open the No.2 library (I have imported all the images to here) every time a message appears "6 photos have been found in the iPhoto Library that were not imported" I click "Yes" every time, but no images are imported and the message appears every time I open iPhoto. Aslo, every time I click Yes, iPhoto creates an album called "recovered Photos 1" "2", "3" etc. What photos does this regard? Can I get rid of this message somehow?

Firefox is running. I close the program. I try to reopen it. I get an error message: Firefox is already running. It does not show in the task manager, nor anywhere else. I can not close the old version, nor start a new one. I have to reboot.
