Patriot extreme 1 gb ram

will this ram work on my 1.33 ghz 12" ibook, I am looking at it because it has a slightly lower latency for slightly more performance. Not too much more expensive than the crucial ram. Here is the link so you guys can check it out http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820220124 I think it would work but I wanted to ask around to make sure, if it doesn't I believe new egg takes products back right?

CanadaRAM:
i You would be better off going to a vendor who actually knows what a Mac is, and will guarantee compatibility with your specific model.
While I agree with that in general, there are a few specific (and very well known) memory modules from Crucial that have been proven to be compatible with iBooks. They can be purchased from Newegg for a lower price, and the experience of users here have shown that those two modules work well for corresponding iBook applications.
The CT12864X335 is the same module that Crucial.com sold for my 14" iBook G4 1.42 as "CT464095". While I've been happy with my purchase, I would prefer a more straightforward marketing scheme. They're perfectly willing to sell wholesale to resellers, but seemingly with the caveat that they can't provide both the real part number and recommended applications. Buy.com will provide a compatibility list, but they also use an alternate part number for Crucial memories that probably doesn't represent the part label.

  • Extremely wierd ram issue.

Ok so I haven't been able to find this problem anywhere.
I have a powerbook G4 12" 1.33Ghz that has 256M of ram pre-installed. I went to the store and bought a 1G Kingston KVR ram stick for it. When I pluggen it in I didn't have any problems for a month or so. All the sudden I had application's (all of them) unexpectedly quitting on me. At first I didn't even consider the ram and went through all of the forums trying all the suggestions for such a problem. I even went so far as to re-install my OS and it was still doing it. So finally I got the idea to pull out the ram stick. I did and there arent anymore problems. How can I fix this so my Mac can go back to 1.25G of ram? Does anybody have any idea why this is happening? Thank you all for you posts
    Josh
    Powerbook G4 1.33Ghz 12"   Mac OS X (10.4.9)   sometimes 256M ram sometimes 1.25 G ram

No, setting the rate to highest is still within Apple's parameters; as long as the machine has sufficient airflow around it it is fine.
Get your money back on the Kingston KVR- ValueRAM, it should never have been sold for that machine. The only RAM that Kingston guarantees compatible with Macs is their KTA- series.
Go with a reputable dealer who tests and guarantees compatibility with your specific model Mac.
    Thanks

  • Dhcpd4-Daemon uses extremly much ram

    Hey there,
I'm using a dhcpd4-daemon on a server which also do radvd, named and run routing. The dhcpd4-daemon uses 60-80% of memory (the system has 512 MB), even right after the start with an empty lease file.
The daemon is configured for 26 subnets with /16 of size each, but there are only about 300-600 clients  (within the lease time of 600 seconds), but the environment is very dynamic.
Is there a reason for this exorbitant memory hungry? Are there comparable alternatives?

Well, if I start the daemon with an empty-leasefile it uses the same amount of storage, here for example with a small leasefile:

But to respond to your thought, if we think of one client is using 5 KByte of data, instead of 400 Bytes, the Server would need to save infos about 600 Clients around 3 MByte, so the question is, why do it need 470 MByte?

  • Issue with Patriot Ram Installation on K9N2 Diamond

I'm trying to install a pair of 1gb 667MHz Patriot Extreme Performance Ram  in dual channel mode. The manual states to place them in dimms 0 & 1 (Green); I ended up placing them in dimms 0 & 2 after no boot resultled, thus the ram is running in single channel mode. I manually adjusted the timings to factory 4-4-4-12 & the voltage to 1.8 but to no success. I went to the official website of MSI and found only Buffalo, Crucial, Mushkin, Corsair, OCZ and Kingston were listed as qualified vendors. I went to the Crucial website and found a pair of 800 MHz of 2 x 2gb Ballistix which were compatible to my mobo according to their memory configurator. Is there someone out there who got their K9N2 Diamond to work with ram that's not listed on MSI's certified vendors?(In dual-channel mode) I checked with cpu-z and noticed that my ram frequency was 325 MHz; I believe it's supposed to read 333 MHz. I'm hoping that a future update for my bios would solve this problem...

  • P965 doesn't POST, power flicking on and off

    I have a P965, with an E6600, an Nvidia 8800 GTS(320mb), a OCZ GameXStream 600 watt psu, 2 GB of Patriot Extreme Performance RAM(DDR2 800).
I haven't any real trouble with my computer for quite a while, but I recently got a new laptop and haven't used my desktop in days. I came back to it to find a blank screen. Normally it powers down for a moment right after it's turned on and then powers back on, which is a normal occurrence or feature or some such. But now it just turns on for a good five to ten seconds, then starts turning on and off every second or two, with the monitor still remaining blank with no POST or BIOS or anything. It will keep doing this a few more times before it stays on for another five to ten seconds and repeats the cycle all over. I thoroughly cleaned out any dust, secured all the cables and tried a spare cable for my monitor just to see if that's why nothing would pop up, but to no avail.
I'm nervous that it might be a problem with the motherboard or power supply, or maybe the video card. Any help would be greatly appreciated

That's a good idea to remove it all from the case and bench test it that way. Remove and then reseat all components ensuring everything is full inserted/plugged in to their appropriate jacks, slots, sockets, and whatever. Also double check there are no extra standoffs in the case (or anything else that could cause a short circuit) that don't line up with MB mounting screw holes. Be sure clean surface of CPU and cooler mounting surface and apply fresh thermal compound.

  • OSX Lion ram usage

Well, i've got my 13' Macbook Air today (4gb ram), and love it.
The only thing that bothers me is the extremely high ram usage of Lion, when i turn the Macbook on it jumps to about 1.3gb ram usage which i find really much considering my PC running Windows 7 uses less.
After some casual usage it even jumps up to about 2 gb ram usage.
Is this normal? how are the other Air's with only 2gb of ram handling this? there can't be much left there, besides just running the operating system.
i am new to Mac's so am i doing something wrong?

    Hi all,
After last Lion update a i seem to encounter a very strange situation regarding ram usage.
I have an early 13' mbp core i5 with 8gb of ram.
After upgrading to lion 10.7.1 i have less than 500mb available after just a few hours since i turn it on.
I must mention that the only running apps are: safari, mail, app store, ichat, ms excell and itunes.
Upon quitting excell, itunes, appstore and restarting mail and safari i still only get 1,5gb of free ram.
My suspicion is that there is another ram leak somewhere, or else i can't explain why my computer user 128mb of swap with 8gb of ram installed.

  • Macbook ram in the UK

Has anyone bought ram from 'Orca'??

I see that your question has been answered.
Just to add some comments about ram in the UK I bought my ram from digitalkind.co.uk. I find that they have the cheapest prices for some things on the net. I ordered in some Kingston ram from there and it cost me £87 with delivery. This retails for much higher than this all over the net and the Kingston brand make extremely good ram as well.
This is the part number to the ram that i bought and was ordered in especially for me KTA-MB667/1G

  • What ram is compatible with a probook 4520s

my computer specs are as follows:
Inter core i3  [email protected] Ghz
    ram: 2-gb
    OS: Windows 7  32 bit
I recently purchased a Patriot 2 gb ram chip with the following specs:
I believe it' model or item number# PSD32G13332s
    PS000641
    2gb PC3 - 10600 soDimm CL9
    RoHS compliant
After installing the notebook would not boot up, it sounded like it was trying to run and stopping continously.  I removed the batter and chip and things went back to normal.
Did I buy the wrong chip?  How much RAM can I upgrade too -  i read a 32 bit OS can only manage 4 gb?
    Any help is appreciated

    Hi:
That memory module should have worked. I checked the specs on it and it is what you needed.
I would return it as it was probably defective.
Since you have a 32 bit OS, you would want to install 2 x 2 GB of memory.
If you have a 64 bit OS (or plan to install one), then you can install 2 x 4 GB of memory.
Please see the quickspecs at the link below which will provide the memory info.

I never had a problem with Patriot memory.  It just wasn't your lucky day.
If you want to try another mfr, then try one of these:

  • Re: Set ram to 1066 when it's running 800!

Hello. My memos are Patriot Extreme Performance Viper Series 4 GB PC2-6400 DDR2-800 Dual Channel nVidia EPP Certified - PVS24G6400LLKN. They are brand new, some 15 days ago buy them. Work fantastic with the Phenom II x3 720 BE and the K9N2 Sli Platinum. But, they are 800 Mhz. Should be possible to overclock them to 1066? I`m thinking about but I don`t want to damage them. I could push the multiplier to 1:2.66 but I`m skared to screw it.
    What do you say?

Hello. Thank you all for answering. ¿Should I understand that that I need to change the DRAM 200mhz bus to 220-225mhz? Because the relationships are 1:1 / 1:2 / 1:2.6. ¿Means that I had to leave it in 1:2 changing only the 200mhz bus and the 2.1V to 2.15 / 2.20V?

  • 870A-G54 - Possible overheating caused by too much ram? Display driver crashes

Greetings, I have a 870A-G54. I've had multiple issues with several video cards prompting me with a "display driver has stopped responding and has recovered" error. Each video card having it's own unique fix. I've come to the conclusion that it's another piece of hardware in my system that is the root of the problem; and not the video cards. I've noticed that the CPU during "the crash" hits about 60c; usually when playing video games. After a reboot, I can play games for a couple more hours before getting the error again. I'm running 16gb of ram on Windows 7 ultimate. Yesterday I decided to remove 8gb of ram to see if the CPU got "hot" again (only leaving the sticks in bay 3 and 4 in). I had a 4 hour session of gaming and it didn't crash. Note, I have the latest bios installed and a Power Supply that shouldn't have issues powering the whole thing; 850w gold rated PSU. I'm currently running a 6950 video card, and all of the settings are stock; no over clocking in any way. I have a hardware monitor installed that shows with my 16gb of ram that my cpu idles at 41-43c. During a intense gaming session going up to 60c. Yesterday after removing the other 8gb (two sticks of 4gb), it never went above 50c. My CPU is well ventilated. I've contemplated water cooling the CPU if that would resolve the issue. But I'd hate to fork over more money to an already expensive system if I don't have to. I've also wondered if it's just a bad ram stick, or bad ram bay on the motherboard. :\
Any suggestions here would be appreciated! Thanks!

So, I conducted several tests over the last couple of days. Now, I understand that mismatching ram could (and probably is) potentially causing the overheat problem. But... I kind of started looking at fundamentals. I have to sets for DDR3. One pair is Patriot sector 5 ram, the other is a set of Dominator ram. Now, I've noticed that I've seem to always have this driver crash issue. But I had always thought it was the video card. Only until recently I started seeing/noticing that the cpu was getting very hot when the driver would crash. On Wednesday I removed the ram in slots 1 and 2 (the Dominator ram), and only ran with the ram in 3 and 4 (Patriot). It ran fine all night. I then ran some heat tests, with the same ram in bays 1 and 2. When the Patriot ram was in those two slots, it ran cooler. When the Dominator was in, it ran hotter. The Dominator's builtin heat-sinks pretty much rest right next the CPU's heatsink (and restrict air flow). It re-arranged the ram so the Dominators are in 3 and 4. And the Sector 5 are in 1 and 2. It worked all night yesterday, CPU didn't get any hotter that 48c while having multiple programs running. Looking at it now, the design of this MB is pretty bad, there should be a little more space between the CPU and the ram. In any case, I will follow up if it continues to crash due to heating issues. I know it's probably cheaper to get new ram, but I'm playing with the idea of just getting a better heat-sink for the CPU (WATER COOLED)!

  • Issues with PCI-e drivers activating in XP Pro (system keeps crashing)

    Hi,
I've just put together a new system:
    580W Hiper PSU
    MSI X1950PRO 256MB
    MSI K9A Platinum
2GB Patriot Extreme Performance DDR2 PC6400 (Eased Latency Memory)
    Athlon 64 x2 3800 am2
The problem I am experiencing is that I cannot get the ATI drivers to load into the OS without causing a crash.  After looking at the error code that XP spits out when the crash occurs it seems to happen right when the video card driver is loaded at which point it blue screens and gives me a memory error.  I know absolutely nothing about overclocking but I have tried everything I can think of with this RAM and cannot seem to figure out what the problem could be.  This is the second card I am on so I know it's not the video card.  I have tried the memory in different slots, tried one stick at a time, tried using different timings and no matter what I do I keep seeing this error.  In a fit I ran MemTest and found nothing wrong with the memory.  Has anyone else ever seen this happen before and if so what has been the fix?  Is it possible that the K9A and the memory just don't play well together?  Could it be some sort of timing issue?  I loaded Windows fine using it so I am guessing it's not.  I currently have it running at 800MHz could that be the problem?  Would slowing it down make any difference?  I did notice that although the BIOS does allow quite a bit of flexibility for overclocking that one of the things that cannot be changed is the memory voltage (which seems to be set at 1.90V).
If anyone has any suggestions I would really appreciate it as I have lost about a week working on this now and have about $800.00 tied up in a completely unusable system.
    Thanks.

    hello, welcome to forum.
have you installed chipset drivers 1st, before VGA drivers?
list PSU details. (can be found into PSU sticker)
ensure memory sticks are located into 1st DIMM1 slot close to CPU socket and DIMM3.
go to BIOS "LOAD BIOS OPTIMIZED DEFAULTS", apply memory vcore to 2.0V or 2.1V.
get a copy of Memtest86 and test memory for errors.
Hi, thanks for taking my post BOSSKILLER.  The PSU specs are as follows:
    Hiper HPU-4B580 PSU
      ATX 12V v2.2
      580W
      Dual+12V = Yes
Output = +3.3V@30A,+5V@36A,+12V1@20A,+12V2@18A,[email protected], [email protected]
      Input Current = 10 A
      SLI and Crossfire certified
I've run MemTest x86 on the memory several times and did not fine any errors however I am now curious about the memory itself VS what the board can handle.  After going through all of the specs on the board (please bear with me here as I am "memory illiterate") it would appear the the board can only handle the memory running at 1.8V as this is what I see from the system specs for the board from MSI:
      Supports Dual DDR2 533/667/800
      - 4 DDR2 DIMMs (240-pin / 1.8V)
      - Supports a maximum memory size up to 8GB.
OK, so going with the fact that I know next to nothing about memory speeds and how voltages play a part in them I know that the last memory that I just sent back to NewEgg was a Patriot Extreme Performance DDR2 2GB PC2-6400 Eased Latency DIMM Kit (PDC22G6400ELK).  It's timings for 800MHz were 5-5-4-9 with +1.9 for voltage.  I had everything in the BIOS for the memory set for AUTO and from what I could see it was being detected at 800MHz memory however if I am interpreting what MSI is saying about this board (and this is where I am really confused) it only supports 1.8V type memory?  If so then I am really in trouble as I just ordered some replacement memory which is Kingston HyperX and it's timings are (for 800MHz) 4-4-4-12 at +2.0V and (for 667 MHz) 5-5-5-15 at +1.8V.     If I understand this equation correctly it would appear that this board cannot handle memory running over +1.8V and it seems that (in spite of the fact that it claims to support 800MHz speed memory that is only if you can purchase memory that will run at 800 MHz while only consuming +1.8V (does that sound correct?)  The bottom line is that there was probably nothing wrong with that Patriot memory I just didn't know what I was doing.  I did notice in the BIOS when I looked at what it detected that it was running by default at 800MHz but the voltage was +1.9 vs. the +1.8 that the manual says it will support.  Could that be what all my problems have been with not being able to get these drivers working?  That the second the part of memory that the drivers need to access is "accessed" because of the difference in voltage that XP panics and immediately "blue screens"?  Let's just go out on a limb here and say that I'm correct then what I am really being told is that this board will not support either of these memory modules running at PC6400 and that I will have to drop the speed down to PC5300 (or 667MHz) in order to get the +1.8V that the board supports to make the system stable?
How far off-base am I?  (Let me know as soon as you can as I am eager to know whether I just wasted more money.  Thanks!)

Hello, I was hoping for some advice on this rig, to overclock or not, etc; Im a bug gamer, so its really about gaming to the max 1st,
    Heres the brand new parts;
MSI X58 Pro-E (In the box, just arrived, do not know bios yet)
    i7 920
    Patriot Extreme Viper PVT36G1600ELK 6GB DDR3 9-9-9-24
    eVGA GTX295 1792mb CO-OP edition
Thermalright extreme e-120 cpu cooler (Jesus that thing is huge)
Im going to re-use this stuff:
2x500gb seagate HDD sata raid 0 for performance
Antec 900 case Lots of fans...nice
    DVD RW
Corsair TX750W Says 60A on a single +12v rail (I think its good, only @ a year or so old)

So, basically should I look to OC this setup a bit? maybe to like 3 GHz or so? If so, whats the "safest" method to OC? I have an excellent cpu cooler and a case that has a ton of fans in it so hopefully I should be good for cooling.
Do I just OC the CPU? Will the memory run at its top speeds with this chip? or do I need to do something for the memory also, I recally for some reason on my current PC with a 780i SLI evga mobo I had to set the ram timins manually, they were never picked up properly on "auto", will I have that also on the MSI board?
I hope Ive provided enough information to get started.
    Thank you for any help!
Oh, I plan to build this baby the following weekend as I am working the next 2 weeks straight...meh

    Yes, why not?
Do not be aiming for 3 GHz, you can run that on stock voltage.  4 GHz is more within the grasp of the TRUE 120.

There's only one way to overclock - overclock...   There is no safe way of doing it...

The only way you can overclock a CPU without overclocking anything else is with an extreme edition CPU.  (The i7 965, for example.)  It's overclocked by raising the CPU multiplier, not the baseclock frequency.
With regular CPUs, you overclock the baseclock, which overclocks the CPU core, CPU uncore, memory, and QPI frequency.

    Extremely doubtful.
I hope I've answered your questions.   I can be more thorough if you wish to know more.  Of course, Google can tell you more than I ever could.

  • I need help getting my P965 Platinum board to work

ok, I've tried researching it and searching the forums but I'm still having a lot of trouble and it's all a tad bit confusing. I've finally gotten all the stuff hooked up but I've run into trouble. My dvd drive and hard drive are both IDE and they aren't being recognized in BIOS, although I can select them as boot devices(the exact devices like ASUS DVD, not the generic cd-rom one). After it goes through th msi logo screen it goes to a screen with JMICRON stuff on it with the name of my hard drive in blue and my dvd drive in green, and to press any key to continue. If I try to boot from an xp cd in the dvd drive it gives me an :
    "CDBOOT : Couldn't find NTLDR
    Error loading OS"
    error.
I think getting this error may have to do with the dvd drive and hard drive not being recognized in BIOS. Now, I read that one solution was putting the drivers on a floppy and booting from that. Of course I don't have one but I was able to scrounge one up from somewhere but with no blank floppies. I rewrote over a couple of the old one I had, one doesn't get recognized when I put it in and trying to boot from it give me an error and tells me to remove and media, the other is unformattable and the last one gives me an error that just says it cannot boot or there was a boot error. I download the driver folder and all I did was copy the inside of the floppy32 folder and paste that onto the floppy. Please help me, I'm on the end of my rope here. I've been dealing with one installation problem after another and now I feel even more broken now hat I know how p965 doesn't have native IDE support. I don't have SATA anything, but I do have a cd burner, a flash drive, an xp disc and possibly floppy stuff.
    Here are my specs:
    Asus 16x optical drive
    Seagate 250 gb hdd
    MSI P965 platinum motherboard
2 gigs of Patriot extreme performance ddr2 800 RAM
    MSI geforce 880 gts(320 mb)
OCZ Game X stream 600 watt psu
    Enermax CS-718 case
    E6600 processor
I went to the g4 forums so I could bother them about it because I didn't want to bring up something that's already been answered on here, but I've gotten barely any help from them and all the issues I've read about on here don't exactly relate to my situation and are kinda confusing. Thank you for your help.

Seems like some who have tried two devices on the JMICRON IDE port have had trouble. Try without the hard drive and see if you get that error. If that is the case I would try a PATA to SATA converter for your hard drive and connect it to one of the Intel SATA Ports.

  • P6N Platinum SLI/C2D e6600 Overclock

I have a situation (i might not, thats why im posting here lol)
    Currently my e6600 (week 09A) is overclocked to 3.2gHz (356x9) RAM set 1:1 @ 712, 4-4-4-12-2T timings (Patriot extreme ddr2 800 PC6400)
I have disabled all unnecesary BIOS features according to other threads for this board (spread spectrum, etc)
PSU is a thermaltake toughpower 700w modular, and of course the P6N platinum SLI.
    My volts are as follows:
    1.400 vcore
    1.35 nbridge
    4% fsb vtt
    2.2 RAM
    Everything else I left alone.
At these volts/frequencies I am able to get overnight orthos stable, intel TAT idle temps 33c, load 50-51c
My question is voltage.  I should be able to get 3.2 at les than 1.4 vcore, yet even if i drop it one step, the comp freezes after an hour of orthos.  I am seeing my voltages drop to 1.376 - 1.384 under 100 load, is that alot of vdroop?  If it is, is there a pencil mod for this board, or could it me my psu thats the problem?
Also, if i up the fsb vtt, will that allow me to drop the vcore?
Sorry for the long thread, but I am very confused

    Hello welcome to the forum,

Nope, every CPU is different, because some people get it like that doesn't mean you will.

    That's normal

Doubtful, but your only @ 51c with TAT, so your good.

  • MSI 880G-E45 overclock to 1600

    AMD X4 840
    Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit
    2x4GB Patriot Sector 5 PGV38G1600ELK 1600 (PC3 12800) 9-9-9-24
    Antec 500W power supply
    Gigabyte Radeon 4550 HD
Patriot said the RAM is certified at 9-9-9-24 at 1600.  Memtest86+ showed about 2-5 errors overnight.  However, system is extremely unstable and often crash on start up
I've increased memory voltage to 1.7 but still does not help
    What else could I try?
    Thanks!
