PATRIOT MAC SO-DIMM DDR3 , is it compatible with my macbook 5,1 late 2008?

Hi,
I Just bought a PATRIOT PC3-8500 1066MHZ 4GB (2X2GB) CL7 MAC SO-DIMM DDR3, for my Macbook 5,1 late 2008.
When I installed the RAM the system keeps rebooting after I turn it on.
I followed the instructions given by apple and the RAM supplier but it seems like the system dosent recognize them.
Is the RAM not compatible with my mac or is there, maybe, something rong with it?
Please help!
Thank you!

That memory meets the specs shown in http://www.everymac.com for your MacBook.  It also shows the same specs as the memory offered by OWC, Mac specialists, for that machine.  Same speed, latency, etc.
That would lead one to believe there is something wrong with the ram, some mismatch, or some other problem.  You need to contact who you purchased the ram from and get an exchange or refund.
Macs are very sensitive to their memory so any problems with the memory will stop a Mac from a normal startup.

I could not decipher which sata is compatible with my macbook, it is 1, 2 or 3, or what should I buy.

Your machine has a SATA III connection, meaning you can get a negotiated link speed of up to 6.0Gbps.
You may want to take a look at my user tip -> Upgrading Your MacBook Pro with a Solid State Drive.
There are dozens of SSDs that would work in your MacBook Pro. You first need to decide what size you want (or need): they're available from 128GB - 1Terabyte.
Personally, I recommend either the Crucial M550 series or the Samsung EVO series. You can get either from a wealth of different sources. I have 4 Crucials now -> 2 mSATA and two standard 2.5" drives. There were some problems with Macs and the EVO series when they were first introduced but they work just fine with Macs now.
Google both drives and find the best prices for the storage that you need. You can't go wrong with either.
    Good luck,

    Thanks,
    KANE

    Hi KANE,
all Intel-Macs, with the exception of the Mac Pro, use the same kind of RAM-Modules .
Specs are: 200-pin DDR2 SDRAM SO-DIMMs up to 1.25” in height. The SO-DIMMs must be DDR2-667 (PC2-5300) compliant and must be unbuffered, unregistered, 8-byte, nonparity, and non-ECC.
    So feel free to swap.

  • How can I download itunes 10.6.3, as itunes 10.7 is not compatible with my macbook?

I upgraded my iphone 4s to iOS X 6. It will not connect to my itunes now because it requires itunes 10.6.3. The latest version of itunes is 10.7 but this is not compatible with my macbook, when I download 10.7 it says that i need to have Mac OS X 10.6.8 or better, which i don't and I think i have to pay to upgrade. Is there still a way that i can download the earlier version of itunes which is 10.6.3?

  • How to I find a compatible, more powerful hard drive for my macbook 13 inch late 2008?

How to I find a compatible, more powerful hard drive for my macbook 13 inch late 2008?

There are many sources for compatible 2.5" laptop SATA interface hard drives and SSD's.
I've used Other World Computing (www.macsales.com) for a number of upgrades, and highly recommend them if you're in the US. OWC also posts helpful videos on YouTube showing step by step removal and installation instructions and the tools required for most Mac models. If your old drive is still functioning, but you're simply running out of space, you might also consider purchasing an upgrade kit that includes an external 2.5" drive enclosure with USB interface. Then you first install the new drive in the external enclosure and 'clone' the contents of old drive to it, then swap the old drive for the new one, and use the old drive in the external enclosure as a backup drive, to test new software and OS upgrades, or to store video, photos, and audio.

  • Is this compatible with my MacBook???

    Hello everyone!
I've been looking around at some new hard drives for my Macbook and have found 1 that looks un-stoppable...
    Information:
    WD Scorpio Black - 320GB, 3 Gb/s, 16 MB Cache, 7200 RPM
    Link: http://www.wdc.com/en/products/products.asp?driveid=482
Anyways I'm just trying to double check to see if this is indeed, compatible, with my MacBook.
    Thanks

The drive itself has to be connected via a sata interface to an external enclosure. Then you can connect it to your Mac via either Firewire or USB (depending on what kind of enclosure you have). Might it not be better just to get an External HD?
Correction: OOPS! my mistake. You want to replace your internal with this don't you?
    Yes, it will be fine.

A better solution is to try a number of better, free alternatives. Consider
    LibreOffice (donation-supported)
    NeoOffice (free)
    OpenOffice (free)
I use Apple's Pages ($19.99) as well as OpenOffice and have been completely Microsoft - free for over a year now. Life is better without Microsoft.

  • Mac Mini 10.4 install disk work with a macbook?

    Hello All,
Will my Mac Mini 10.4 install disk work with a Macbook? I believe the model is either a MB061LL/A or MB062LL/A.
    Thank You in advance!

Yes, and possibly the system that disc can install is not Intel compatible. It would have to be a late 2006 model, which was the start of the Intel series of Minis.

  • Is this SSD compatible with my macbook pro

    Hello Freinds,

Can anyone confirm me that this ssd will be compatible with my macbook.

i can't confirm or deny but im leaning towards the no side. Formating is a big issue. it sayd that its is compatible for Win7 and 8 but windows is formated for NTFS and macs can only read on NTFS. Do some more research but i hope i pointed your research.

    May 13, 2014 6:21 PM (in response to mrgud28)
Today I called a few stores and Apple Authorized Service Provider in my country, Croatia. All they told me, whether from ignorance or do not know why ... Do I have to buy onlyoriginal HDD to Apple because we second HDD my MacBook Pro will not recognize. I do not know what to do. HDD 2.5", 750GB, 5400 RPM or 7200 RPM, 8 or 16 MB of Cash in the IT shop costs around 60 USD, while the Apple service costs 150 USD. Now what to do, buy a SATA III drive 2.5" in the IT shop or twice as expensive as the Apple service. Please help me !!
Has anyone tried to put the MacBook Pro HDD drive that is not branded with the Apple label. And if there were any problems with the disc recognition by the MacBookPro.
Thank you all for your help.
