Pattern Maker: Gap in pattern

I have searched high and low and have tired all the things in the forums but not seem to help. When making a pattern in AI CC 2014 with the pattern maker. I get these cross hairs(they seem to be the clipping mask AI uses to create the tiles for the pattern). Now I have read: "oh don't worry, the lines won't print". Well they do print. Even when saved has a PDF. And when I open the PDF, the lines are still there and cut though the pattern. Some say it is the way the screen renders and to turn off an option. But that is not the case. I have tried everything and I am at a loss. If I can not fix this. Then this tool seems useless. It even seems to happen on patterns that come with AI CC

If any one has any answers or any help that would be appreciated. Without figuring it that, This tool seems useless...I could be missing something really easy, but please help. I will supply any files or links needed.

I have heard people saying to click the size tile to art , but doesn't seem to do anything for me.
I have tried the anti-aliased option in the options. That does take off the lines(only for the screen). But they still print out and I also can not place them in photoshop with out the lines being there(I have tried copying and pasting, embedding, and linking). The only way i have found to kinda be able to do it is export the image(the pattern the size I need) as jpg with out any anti aliased option and then I can place it in photoshop without lines and print that image without lines. But say if i have a whole project in AI CC and I saved as a PDF to print. The lines would also show. I can give you or link you to any files that you need to be able to see if maybe I am messing something up. Can I link the file in here?

Macbook cracking

hello everybody...
i read a month or two ago about the macbook and it's problem with the cracking of the outside case, as well as the keyboard 'lifting' to make gaps between the top surface of the keyboard to the more 'whiter' chunk of the bottom.. (if u guys understand)
i thought that was a problem that people either inititally HAD or DIDNT, and i checked mine when i read the posts and saw that my macbook was fine and that id never have that problem...
recently, however, i realised that my macbook is changing and these problems are arising! firstly, the back of my lid in the corner has these cracks on both corners (so not the top corners when the macbook is open, but the bottom corners that are close to the table)... they have these 'hairline' cracks that seem to be UNDER the plastic... or at least i cant seem to feel it with my fingernails or finger..
also i realised that the area where my right hand rests to type, there is a slight gap occuring between the white and grey keyboard area (near the corner and the screws) which wasnt there before...
not only am i wondering who else has these problems... btu im wondering if anybody has had any success in talking to the applestore about this?... im going to take my macbok in, to show them these problems, as well as a SLIGHT discolouration issue (which im nots ure they will recognise yet) but i was wondering if anybody else has had any success...
im kind of 'scared' to take it into the store, because i feel like they won't really accept this as a problem..
2) also, do the people who have had these problems also had discolouration issues?
3) and how would they fix the hairline cracks on my case (its not on the grey part, but the actual white outer case).. does tha fix if they fix the discolouration issue?
(im thikning that maybe the discolouring covers have these issues maybe?)

My case (which has already been replaced for discoloration) shows a new separation under my left hand between the white and grey. It is a common enough occurrence that I suspect Apple will take care of it for you, but I don't know that for sure. If you have discoloration, the grey part is the part that will be replaced anyway. Unfortunately, where your cracks are is not part of the case that is replaced for discoloration.
Mine isn't bad enough yet to take it in, and anyway it's a cosmetic issue that I'm not so certain Apple will address.... let us know what they say if you take it in.

AS Stops working correctly

I am helping someone edit a template that they purchased. The
original file had 6 buttons, and when you move over a button the
buttons below it shift downward. I figured out the code enough to
add more buttons. Each button had to be named a number in
sequencial order (ex: 1,2,3,4....). Everything worked great until I
hit 10, then the array crapped out. The tenth button and so on
didn't react like the other buttons, they didn't move down, and

Any idea why this works with 9 buttons but fails to work at

That could be a typo, what would you suggest changing it to?
I am not an AS pro, I can read it enough to decypher it.
I'll try:

Messing with that particular line of code does affect the
layout. However, the buttons 10 and 11 are still don't move when
the other buttons are moused-over.

Mouse runs slow

Hello,
i'm experiencing strange problem with mouse. When i'm listeting to music (i use newest players such as Winamp, Foobar2000, Windows Media Player) and press "pause" button my mouse starts to run slowly (when i moving my pointer it makes gaps, it's very difficult to procceed my work). Then when i press "play" button my mouse starts to work normally. Wheter i use trackpad or usb mouse problems remains.
My system is Lenovo 3000 N100 laptop, Windows XP Pro. I offten do my system update, so i allways equiped with newest drivers.
I have to mention that this problem ocurred when i reinstaled Windows XP.
This problem is very annoing, i can't work normally. So anyone who knows the solution to my problem, please help me.

One year, under warranty, occurs after last osX update - reinstalled update and it still occurs, maybe just a coinsidence. Acts like the old style ball and wheel mouse when dirty. Clears up if I turn off the mouse for a min and then reconnect. An hour or two later it occurs again.

Pilot delivery/format to include commercials

When a pilot, or any episode for that matter, is finalized... are there gaps of black video left for commercial breaks?
Is it pure black video or does it also include white text that says "commercial break"?
I know where my commercial breaks go - but I'm not sure how to execute - wondering if there is somewhat of a standard?
I am also assuming a network receives a finalized episode, with the allotted commercial break space "cooked in" the render, and then flys in their commercials over the top of the program. if so are the gaps left in the episode the exact length intended of the commercial break? Or are they just a few seconds of black as a marker and then the network literally edits in the commercials?
Any insight into this somewhat elusive, but possibly interesting, aspect of formatting a finished product for delivery greatly appreciated.
p.s.
Was also hoping I could find a raw demo or pilot episode of something on youtube that has the gaps in there so i could derive my answers from a real world application... but no luck.

get a " stop watch" and watch a program on tv... keep time of the length of actual product ....disregarding commercial breaks... ( stop watch is off during commercials )... look at what you end up with...
ps... you dont make gaps.. the commercials do
you sell the " right " to them to show your stuff ( you sell it ) and they cut / create the " gaps " you refer to...you have no control over that as its part of the sale of your product to them ( right to broadcast X amount of times for X amount of time , before it ( your product ) reverts back to YOU ...re: right to re-negotiate contract for broadcast

How can I make a column of sums out of a repeating pattern of 24 changing numbers in Numbers.
I have a long list of 8760 numbers of which I need to take the sum (and store in a column) of each 24 numbers.

Here's one way. I've reduced the example, taking groups of five numbers from a set of 20. I've used 3 as the data number in all cases to make the sum easily recognizable.
Original column of numbers in Data::column A.
Data::B2 (and filled down): =QUOTIENT(ROW()+3,5)
This adds 3 to the row number, then divides by 5, returning the quotient and ignoring the remainder.
The result is a 'group number' for each group of five rows.
Sums of each group are reported in the Sums table.
Sums::A2 (and filled down): =ROW()-1
Sums::B2 (anf filled down): =SUMIF(Data::$B,A2,Data::$A)
For your example, assuming the 8760 numbers are listed in column A of a table named Data, starting at cell A2:
Add a second column to the table (column B).
In B2 enter the QUOTIENT formula above, with these two revisions:
=QUOTIENT(ROW()+22,24)
Fill down to all cells in the column.
Provided you have named the first table "Data", both formulas in the Sums table will be as written above. You will need to extend the Sums table to 366 rows (including the Header row) to accommodate all 365 groups of 24.

How do I set multiple pattern matching Vi's and make overlapping pattern matches to count as one?

Hello! I'm a student and I'm currently making a project using pattern matching.
My patterns are from chick foot/feet.
I'm created multiple pattern matching VI's to detect all the feet because I find it difficult/impossible to match all the feet with a single pattern/template.
However, when using multiple pattern matching VI's some pattern matches detect the same foot, hence overlapping.
So how can I make the overlaping pattern matches to be counted as one?

The objective of my project is to detect all the feet through pattern matching and count the pattern matches made.
"Keep a 2D array of counts, initialized to zero and the same size as your array of possible locations, and increment the value every time you get a match. If multiple pattern matching attempts result in a match a given location in your count array might be "3" but all you care about is if the number is greater than zero."

How do I make a repeat pattern in Photoshop CC?

I am trying to make a seamless repeat pattern in photoshop. I used to be able to do this in older versions of Photoshop by adjusting the position of my artboard in Filter -> Other -> Offset.
Now I can't seem to adjust the offset by adjusting the pixels according to the size of my artboard, but I have to choose a pixel number between -1182 and +1182 instead?
For instance, if my artboard is 100px I used to be able to set it to 50px so the artboard shifts halfway to the right. Now I have to set it at (1182 : 4=) 295px to get my artboard to that same position.
Plus, when I use 'wrap around' the objects in my artboard don't appear on the other side of the artboard as should be the case.
What is going on? Does anyone know how I can easily make a repeat pattern in Illustrator now? Is there something like 'Pattern maker" for Photoshop cc, like the one that used to be available for older versions of PS but is now disabled for Photoshop CC?

How do I make a circle pattern in text fill?

I'm looking to make a gradient cirlce pattern to fill some text in with. I've looked quite extensively for a tutorial or a quick how-to of something similar but I was unsuccessful. Maybe I'm not using the right search words. Anyway, what I'm looking to accomplish is something like what's in this link.

This "might" help...
Draw the first circle, the smallest one.
Now Ctrl Alt D (win) or Cmnd Option D (mac) or use the menu to select Object>transform>each and set horizontal and vertical percentages to your preference (say 110%) and hit copy.
Now Ctrl or Cmnd D to duplicate as many concentric expanding circles as you want. This only takes a few seconds.

How do I make a simple hatch pattern (for fill) of my own customization?

I must be over looking something here. I am trying to make a hatch pattern in Illustrator CS6 with the pattern tool so I can apply a clean, single lined hatch to various shapes (some small some big - but the hatch needs to remain at the same seamless scale). I understand that there is a Basic Graphics_Lines Pattern under the Swatches Palette, but I don't understand how to edit it with the Pattern Options dialogue box.
I must be missing something, becuase I wouldn't think making a single line at 45° repeat at the same spacing for a shape fill would be that difficult. I shouldn't have to make a line with the pan tool at a stroke of 1000 with a 0.1-3 dash and make a clipping mask should I?
Basically I don't know how to make a pattern's lines match up when I do the 5x5 or 3x3. I tried doing 1x1 and the result is that of the image with the red stroke...still not aligning. Do I need to get mathematical with the size of the line i'm drawing and its stroke to allow H and V Spacing to work?
I'm completely lost and would really appreciate if someone could help me understand this....It just seems so arbitrary. and all the examples/tutorials i've seen of this tool are of floral patterns where arbitrary is okay.

The files included are:
CS5 Optional Extension Plug-Ins.mxp
and
CS5 Optional Plugins.mxp
When I attempt to install either of these two files, I get the following error message:
I’m attempting to place the installs into the Applications> Photoshop CS5 > Plugins > Optional Plugins
I'm on a Mac OS 10.6.5
What am I doing wrong?

Hi Linda,
Sorry if I confused, but I just want to make sure that you don't have all the Optional Extensions installed and enabled (as fallout from trying to get Pattern Maker working). There are two .mxp files and you mentioned trying to install both of them. I haven't seen the actual error you get, so to be safe, I'm suggesting that you make sure to disable all the Optional Extensions (and likely all the optional plug-ins that you don't need too). The installers are/were all or nothing (I'm not sure if the installer .mxp for Optional Extensions has been removed yet).
The quickest way to uninstall is using the CS5 Service Manager application (IF it is working correctly). The quickest way to tell if they are installed is probably to look in this folder: Adobe Photoshop CS5/Plug-Ins/Extensions.
There should only be 5 there by default: Enable Async IO, FastCore, MMXCore, MultiProcessor Support, and ScriptingSupport.

If you installed the Optional Extensions Plug-Ins.mxp you'll want to uninstall all of them (or disable them and only enable individual ones that are needed). To uninstall, use the CS5 Extension Manager. To disable them, individually rename each with a tilde(~) as the first character.

Pattern Swatch From Pattern Maker Filter

Is there a way to copy a new custom Pattern Swatch that you create using the Pattern Maker filter? I have often created a pattern that worked perfect but could only apply it to a layer. I want to be able to save just the custom swatch that patterns correctly so that I can use it as a repeating background image on a website.
I know I should know this, but it's something that I've never been able to figure out, or find in the Help Menu.

Sounds good on paper Welles. But I can't get it to work right. I still see the tiling when I save the file out this way and use it as a background.
I don't need this for anything urgent. And I know I can make something work for when I need it. The pattern I'm working with has a lot of texture so when it repeats outside of applying it in Photoshop, it just doesn't match up right. I had hoped there would be an easy way to capture the custom Pattern Maker Tile as a single image that could be used to repeat itself without seeing the tiling.

When I make a pattern swatch, it moves. How can I stop this?

I understand that pattern swatches sit relevant to where they are made on the artboard. So I thought I could create one over the spot I want to fill with it (and avoid making lots of clipping masks). However, when I create the swatch, the pattern moves, and I can't seem to get it to align.
Have tried using the ~ key as suggested elsewhere (although on my PC this is on the # key so probably doesn't have the same effect?).
So the pattern goes from this:

Each time I do it, it moves to another location. Doesn't seem to be any logic to it.
Would appreciate anyones wise input!

Whenever I apply the clipping mask, the shape contains no fill. Perhaps that is because it is a set of copy and a logo repeated in a line (this is a design for a lanyard). It's not that I am afraid to use it, I have tried and it doesn't work.
So if the pattern is relevant to the 0,0 position on the co-ordinate grid, how do you work that out? When you make it, the co-ordinates are relevant to the artboard, not the grid. Maybe I'm just missing something obvious.
Sorry if I seem stupid. Self taught etc.

In desperate need of a Pattern Maker!!!

Photoshop CS6 no longer has the Pattern Maker nor supports the plugin that was available in CS5. Does anyone know of a software or 3rd party plugin that will create patterns from high res photo files? I've searched in Google, like crazy, but alas have found nothing.
I really a software to help me on tricky patterns for products at work. "Help me Obi Wan, you're my only hope!"
BTW, for compatibility issues, I'm using OSX Mountain Lion.
