Pause and skip problem.

I know there is many post about the pausing issue with iPod, my new 60GB colour does do this but also mine has another strange problem.
I use the "shuffle songs" option from the main menu a lot. What happens is it sometimes after playing songs randomly OK it will start a new random track and only play a few seconds then move onto the next random track, I would say it plays maybe 4-5 seconds then move on.
The only thing I can think of is it's buffer related, I use Apple Lossless and of course my HD is running a lot and rebuff ring all the time and I would assume some of my tracks never fill the buffer.
Anyone else uses lossless and noticed this problem.
R

Thanks, I didnt know it was known, yes lets hope they fix it at some point, but I assume I'm one of not many people that use lossless.
I use ACC @ 256 on my shuffle, yes it is very good, but I'm a bit of a HiFi nut and with my full size Sennheiser cans I can tell the difference (most of the time, not all the time I must admit)
Cheers

  • I can't get the movie to play right, it keeps pausing and skipping

I bought a movie on itunes a when i try to watch it keeps pausing and skipping. how do i fix this, so i can watch it

Check in iTunes - got to the store home page with the small house icon.
On the right side of teh screen under QuickLinks is there a Purchased section?
If so check if this had Movies/Films when you click it, if so hopefully purchases will show up.  If you uncheck the box for HD downloads you may then be able to get the SD version.
Also in iTunes Preferences for the Store you can select preferred HD resolution of 720p or 1080p for downloading.
If you don't have a section for previous purchases contact iTunes support and tell them the issue.

  • Using a bluetooth headphone, how can I play/pause and skip tracks on apps like Spotify?

I have just bought the Sennheiser MM 550-x bluetooth headphone. I am not able to use the headphone's bluetooth buttons to play/pause and skip tracks in Spotify and other non-Apple apps in Lion. The bluetooth controls (avrcp) work in iTunes and QuickTime player, though. The same issue applies to the Apple headsets with inline remote controls. Is there a workaround for this, like third party remote apps  that responds to bluetooth commands or let you remap incoming bluetooth commands?

I'm having the same issue with my Philips, I have tested on ML and Maverick and still happening,  the controls just work with iTunes and I always use spotify... Any solution for that!?!!?!?

  • Rented Movies pause and skip during playback......................

I am running iTunes 9.2. The last three movies I have rented pause and then skip ahead 6 seconds during playback. Its like with compujter cannot keep up. It happens at ramdom times but happens often, sometimes two or three times a minute. All movies were completly downloaded before playback. Any suggestions?

I am having the same problem with purchased video content.
I am NOT a happy camper right now. I was really looking forward to purchasing a season pass for one of my favorite programs, but not until this is resolved
I also can't figure out how to play the itunes purchased videos directly in Quicktime. It used to be possible in preferences, but it looks like that feature is missing from this current version.

  • Random Pauses and Skips in Playback

Apparently others are having a similar problem. I get random skips or pauses in songs on playback in the iPod; mostly, these pauses are minute hesitations that will grow more noticeable over time to the point of even skipping songs or just stop playing in the middle of one. This anomaly occurred in a 3G 40GB and my current color 60GB. Music totals about 28 GBs of mostly ripped Apple Lossless, 192 ACC, just a few mp3s and some purchased tunes. I do not believe this is a headphone issue, as it will "skip" regardless of headphones or cable connected even when the iPod is completely stationary. Playback of the same music, even streaming over Airtunes, reveals no skips in the "original" music in iTunes to which the iPod is connected and synced.
Restoring the iPod only lessens the severity of the pauses (and believe me this has been done many times). I have also deleted iTunes libraries, xml files and preferences, but none of this seems to make any difference. Both the iPod and iTunes source drives have gone through the disk maintenance of DiskWarrior, repair permissions (source drive) and so forth.
Occasionally, after Restoring and on the initial sync of the iPod, I get the error message "Cannot read from or write to this disk". The 60GB iPod is less than a month old and I shows no disk problems; the same problem occurred with the 40GB iPod. Occurs with both the USB2 and FW ports.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  • Player pauses and skips with .mp4 files from video camera

As you will tell, I'm a total novice at this video stuff. I just purchased this new Sanyo HD1 video camera. It creates .MP4 files and says they can be played with QuickTime (included with on the CD!). When I play the clips with QT, I get terrible playback - video/audio pauses and large chucks of video just drops. I've tried the clips on a variesty of high end machines (latest version of QT) with the same results. Interestingly enough, if you use the product that also comes on the CD for viewing (ULead) - everything looks smooth. I'd rather use QuickTime and go Pro for those features if I can get it to work. Suggestions?

I also have this same problem and have found I can get the file to play if I select the "add to selection and scale" option under the edit tab. However when I exit and save the option I still have to select the option on the same file the next time I open it in order to get the file to play.
    What is the fix?

  • Has the new model 160gb classic solved the random pauses and gaps problem?

Just wondering if the apple morons have solved the problems that the last 2 generation classics had with the random pauses and gaps?
I binned the first model 160gb that came out 2 years ago and went back to the 5th gen 80gb model which plays perfect.
If they have finally fixed the problem with the new classics, i'll be picking a new 160gb up, but not until i hear what people who already own them have to say first.

well your one lucky customer. having bought a 2009 ipod and no hard drive issues. i bought one and i got it to sync music and photos. but than it paused and restarted it and i got the red x. so i returned it and they exchanged it for a brand new still in the sealed box ipod and it was the same thing again. im gonna try sending it in. if it still happens, than im gonna have to refund.

  • Play, pause, and skip button won't work on lock screen

When I slide the little tab up and it gives you the options of the flashlight, calculator, and camera the play button and skip button don't work. I have an ipod5 and updated to iOS 7  how do I get it to work

Thanks for your help. I tried a restore but that didn't work. Do you know of any instructions for taking one of these units apart? I might try seeing if anything is obstructing the buttons. If not, the buttons are probably faulty, just as you said.

  • My Ipod Classic 120GB crashes all the time while using it, there is an Apple that comes up and it restarts and sometimes a miscolored screen.  It randomly pauses and skips songs as well.Help?

Not sure why it does this but it has been for the past few year and I'm finally getting tired of it.  Any way to solve this problem?  It randomly skips and pauses songs and if its doesn;t it last about 10 minutes or so and then freezes with an apple on the screen and also a miscolored apple on the screen.  Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Does the iPod get overheated after 10 minutes?
Do the iPod Disk Diagnostic, as posted earlier by tt2, it wont solve your problem, but help in troubleshooting.

  • DVD player pauses and skips.

My DVD player skips? When I play a DVD in my Mac Mini, viewing it with a 32" LCD TV, the dvd will stop and pause. It's kind of like a skip, but it does not pixelate or anything?
    Is my DVD player broken?

    Hello there,
THanks for your answers. I just got a new 42" plasma TV. We watched a DVD and it didn't have any problems! Maybe the problem was the wiring from the LCD tv. It seems to easy to just be getting a new TV. I am going to try a few more DVD's just in case.
Ya it was skipping on all DVD's. Chick flixs, action movies, you name it.
I didn't have anything open besides the DVD player while watching movies.
I will keep you posted. thanks.

  • Home Sharing: Half loading and skipping problems

    Hello all
Firstly, thank you to those that are reading this with a view to helping, and to those that will, hopefully, reply.
I am looking at getting my iTunes library shared in my home. My current set up is simple: 2011 MBP, iPhones, iPad, all music on the MBP and all devices using the same iTunes account (although, there are different iCloud accounts on the devices, but I assume this is not a problem). All devices up-to-date. Approx 80GB of ripped/iTunes purchased music. The first thing I want to acheive is my iPhone having access to my music library so I can plug the phone into a dock and play what I want.
I believe I have set up Home Sharing correctly. When I use the Music app on any iOS device I can see the library on the MBP, but one of two things happens:
    - Mostly, the library half loads (exactly half, it quickly gets to half and stops), or
    - The library does eventually load but when i try to play a song it skips/cycles through every song without playing, until it comes to the end of the playlist/album
Both of the above seem to be reasonably common problems, with no solution.
As a troubleshoot, i set up the Remote app; this works flawlesly. I can control iTuines from an iPhone with no problems at all. "It just works." I therefore assume that I can mostly rule out router problems and me not setting things up properly.
So, the question: Is there a real solution to the above?
    Many thanks

  • Anyone else having trouble pausing and skipping music from the lock screen?

I usually listen to music in the mornings and when I go to pause my music or change the song it simply won't work unless I go into my phone and use theistic icon to pause it or skip it.

it works fine  on my  phone. try to check access Settings- Control center - make sure Access on Lock Screen and Access within Apps are On. while on lockscreen mode, try swiping up from the bottom of the screen to view control center. try to play a song, then swipe it down to hide the control center. u will see there music playing while on the lockscreen and can pause it from there.. hope this will help.

  • Music and skipping problem

So recently I was asked to make a flowing soundtrack. One entire continuous stream about 3 hours long. Upon exporting I have had two different problems. 1. When I export I get and L and an R. Obviously Left and Right. I can't place both on the computer, as the L and R will be different tracks entirely. I would need them together. 2. When I export it in general, the music has the slightest, yet noticable skips. I have no idea how to fix this. I have tried different takes and nothing comes of it.
    Thanks

Please explain, "can't put them on the computer".
You need to be set up as a stereo output. From your description is seems like you are outputting dual mono tracks.

  • ITunes playback skips, pauses and distorts

Recently I haven't been able to use my itunes for playback through my desktop because the songs pause and skip, and in some cases I get loud distortion or static. Previously it had been working fine for 18 months. I deleted the program and downloaded it afresh: the first song was OK but then the problem recurred. My operating system is XP. Can anybody suggest a solution?
Other programs on the computer are working normally although possibly a bit slower than they were. Are there viruses or other nasties which attack iTunes in particular?
    PC generic   Windows XP

Problem was with iTunes libary (xml) file and not Firefox. Once I rebuilt my library from scratch, iTunes no longer skipped.
