On my 'legacy' Motorola mobile phone I was able to store a phone number, 'insert a 'wait' ' and then the extension number....
So calling someone with a phone extension I just speed-dialed the number -- and when the switchboard asks for the extension I just hit 'send' again
Does the Iphone have a similar ability to efficiently call stored contacts that have an phone extension number associated with?

You can enter pauses (approx. 2 sec) into a dialing string, but to my knowledge the iPhone does not have nor ever had a hard pause or wait. To enter a soft pause, on the number keypad of the phone, tap the "+ * #" key and the "0" becomes a "pause" key (it just inserts commas for pauses).

Flash player plays videos slow and jumpy. Have to put on pause and wait for it to load.

Since the new Flash Player release, videos on Youtube, CNN, FOX will start to load then do a buffering, then play a little more, stop again.
When I hit on pause and let it load fully, it is the only way I can watch the video.
Unless it is a video I really want to watch, the effort takes to long.
It started with the new release of Flash Play on both my desktop with windows XP and new laptop with Windows 7.
I have spent days reviewing this forum and tried all your suggestions.
Are there any new suggestions besides all those that have already been given or do we have to just wait for a new release of Flash Player
to take care of all these bugs that I have been reading that others also have?

I have great news on my end for this problem.
Researching another solution all started with the email that I received from adninjastrator ( [email protected])
about it might be something with my internet server and HiDef videos.
I phoned Qwest help line and they told me my speeds coming in for okay.
Then I sent a email to a Qwest online tech and explained how it all started about the time of the flash player update on both of my computers.
I told them about all my trouble shooting on your forum.
Within 2 hours of my email, I got a reply back from the Qwest tech.

I understand you are having concerns about your speed.
I have spoken to an engineer and we have made some changes.
You should see immediate results.
I went to Youtube, CNN and FOX and they all worked. Hooray!!!!!!!!!!!!
I don't know what programming problem that they fixed, but it worked.

Can I add the Play/Pause and Mute functions to image buttons

A custom skin that was created to wrap around a Captivate
movie we are creating does not include the playbar, but does have
both a Play/Pause button and a Mute button, both of which are
normally located in the playbar. We want to create custom image
buttons for these actions and assign the Play/Pause and Mute
funtions to them. Can anyone suggest how we might do this? I
suspect that the answer lies in creating Javascript that will
accomplish these funtions. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Apple or anyone,
I am trying to add a pause after a phone number. Specifically, I want to add the PIN for my calling card after the number. Before posting this call for help, I read through many other Apple Discussions on the topic as well as other internet sites. I understand that the Pause (or comma) feature can be found on the dialer. I have tried manually entering in the comma, using the formal "Pause", varying the number of pauses, and I've tried to access the number through the contact app and the phone app. I've even shut the thing down to see if that worked. All with the same result.
My phone will dial the first number up until the first pause, then absolutely nothing else. No pause, no long dial tones like some other posts talk about, nothing. For all intensive purposes, my pause feature is completely inop.
Apple, or anyone else, do you have a suggestion? I'm using a brand new iPhone 3G with 2.2.1 loaded. I also live in Japan.

I don't know about what you are referring to when you refer to a "pause/comma comma feature can be found on the dialer". I haven't found one.
The only way I found to successfully get commas/pauses in a phone number is to put the number in my address book and then sync that to the iPhone. It works great. I believe that each comma is about a 2 second pause (don't quote me on that part).

I think there are two annoying behaviors in iPhone OS 3.0.1:
• if you go to contacts, create a new contact and enter a telephone number there will be inserted automatically spaces into the telephone number. One the one hand this behavior can be very practical (for example if iPhone 3.0.1 identify thereby already used formats of telephone numbers), on the other hand this behavior can be very annoying (for example if you want to create a special format for one telephone number). If you synchronize telephone numbers from your iMac to your iPhone, iPhone OS 3.0.1 put also automatically spaces into synchronized numbers.
• there is also missing a hyphen in the number keyboard to insert into the telephone number in iPhone OS 3.0.1.
First I think it would be a very good if there would be a function in iPhone OS 3.1 which deactivates the automatic insertion of spaces, secondly I think there should be a a hyphen in the number keyboard to insert into the telephone number in iPhone OS 3.0.1.
How do you think about my suggestions?

When we are Uploading the data, the First Telephone number(TELEPHONE1) and the remaining data is uploading successfully except the 3 Telephone Fields

We are facing trouble in uploading Multiple Telephone numbers and I created BP Master data with Multiple telephone numbers through SAPGUI.

I am assigning 'M' to target structure field
E102S_EI_BUPA_TELEPHONE_CON-TASK = 'M'.
and for E102BUS_EI_STRUC_TEL_DATA   I am using the fields
country,std_no,Telephone, in the same structure there is field called CONSNUMBER (I came to know that to upload multiple telephone numbers we have to do some programming on this field, pls correct me if I am wrong)

You want to use iTunes Match on what devices? As you are aware it is not possible to have iTunes Match enabled for two iTunes Store accounts on the same computer, since any one device can only be associated with one Apple ID every 90 days. This applies to iOS devices as well as computers.
iTunes Match is designed to be a single-user service that is never signed out. So there are no easy solutions to your situation. If one of you enables iTunes Match on one Apple ID and the other re-downloads anything from your purchase history or has an automatic download happen that will initiate an Apple ID re-association for the device and will lock out the other account for 90 days.
On iOS devices, it can only be signed into one Apple ID every 90 days for same reason. At this time you've really only got a couple of solutions: Abandon one iTunes Store Apple ID and only use one for all devices; or, purchase a new computer and have separate iTunes Match accounts.

Pause and Rewind function stops on Xi3 box

I do have this feature working in the Seattle market area. The SD card is 1 gb and allows for 25 mins of recorded program content. I've been having issues where the Pause or Rewind stops working and I get a message regarding the set top box not supporting this feature. Up until now I've been restarting the box to temporarily fix the problem. Of course restarting requires 3-5 minutes of down time but I found a quicker solution. If you simply eject the SD card, you will get a message regarding missing components for the pause / rewind feature. Then just reinsert SD card and all is well until the next time. I've had the Xi3 boxes for about 2-3 months now, and they have worked fine up until the past week, then this issue with Pause / Rewind not support message started. Yesterday went to my local Comcast store and replaced the 2 - Xi3 boxes to see if that made any difference. It did not, but I also found that if I get the Pause / Rewind failure condition, it will also resolve itself on it's own. This I self correction I just saw this morning but don't know how long this self healing takes.

Firefox pauses and waits for mouse input

I think this may be related to the new Firefox, but I'm not sure. It's a relatively new phenomenon... a couple of weeks now, i think.
Whenever I perform a browser task, like open a window or download a file or (sometimes)try to play a video in Firefox, the action will start but it only runs for a moment or two and then hangs.
I have found that the action will begin again as soon as I move my mouse or click a mouse button. So sometimes I will have to move my mouse in circles waiting for the requested action to finish.

I had the same issue on FF5. I just upgraded my Flash player, and the problem has now gone away.
