Pause or mute music when headphones disconnect

Would there be any way to be able to pause or mute the music player when the headphones accidentally disconnect ?, similar to how an iPod/iPhone would.
I own a E71 but that should not make a difference, i have used other nokia devices before, and was not able to get that setting
Thanks,
Neil

I'd like to see this one, I work in a quiet office but listen to music off my 5800 via bluetooth headphones.  Occasionally I walk away from phone with my headset slung round me neck forgetting about it. The phone loses the connection, so automatically switches to blaring the music out the speakers!  I then have to charge back to my desk, unlock the phone and hurriedly pause the music.
Frankly there is no situation where I want music to play out of the speakers, I'm not a teenager walking down the street!

  • Mute music when videos play in iPhoto

I have a presentation that combines photos and a few videos in iPhoto.  I am using music form my itunes library.  How can I get the music to stop playing or mute when the videos play in iPhoto (so we can hear the sounds from the imported video) then start or unmute the itunes music when iPhoto is back to showing photos?  Does that make sense?
    Pardon my ignorance.  Thank you!!
    jay

That's not a feature in iPhoto.  iDVD has such a feature but doesn't work very well at all.  You might be able to create the slideshow in iMovie and mute the added music during the video clips.  I don't use the latest version of iPhoto so can't help there.  It's easy if you use the older iMovie 6 HD version.

  • Pause doesnt work when headphones disconnected

I have bought an iPod Nano off eBay around May and it had been working fine. Then all of a sudden every now and again although not all the time, when I pull out the headphones, whether it is on hold or not it doesnt pause like it is ment to. Is there any checks I should go through to see if everything is working correctly, as it is very handy for it to pause so then it doesnt carry on playing and waste the battery?
    Thanks
    Alastair

First, try restarting your Nokia 1520 and remove all pairings stored on it. On the BH-121, press and hold the multifunction and the power key for 2 seconds. Re-establish the pairing between two devices.
If the Multifunction key does not work, which is essentially needed for resetting the device, I advise running the bluetooth device until the battery completely runs out then charge it fully afterwards. Last step is to pair it again with your smartphone.
Although, I'm not discounting the factor that the update might have something to do with this issue.
    Good luck

  • I get no sound for YouTube or music when headphones are out. Speaker phone works fine. It appears to be software issues. Any ideas?

I have an iPhone 4s w/iOS 5.0.1.  YouTube and music player do not produce sound w/out headphones being plugged in. The speaker phone and other phone sounds continue to work properly. The volume buttons on the side of the phone do not control volume unless the headphones are plugged in. When you go to 'settings' then 'sounds' and make sure 'change with buttons' is selected, the volume bar will not move with the buttons until I make the volume change on the bar with my finger - then the buttons control the volume bar (but still no sound for YouTube or the music player without the headphones). It appears to be some type of software issue. I have read the post about theap home thinking the headphones are still plugged in, but that would not explain why some sound works and others do not. Any ideas?

    Hello tiffay8,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
From your post I understand you're not getting any audio output from your speakers when you're playing games.  Follow the steps below to resolve the issue:
Verify that the volume is set to a level you would normally be able to hear.
Ensure that there is nothing plugged in to the headset jack or the dock connector.
If the iPhone is in a protective case, make sure that the speaker port isn't blocked by the case.
Make sure that the speaker and dock port aren't clogged with debris. If necessary, clean it with a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush. Carefully and gently brush away any debris.
If an audio issue occurs when using a specific application, try testing other applications to see if the issue persists.
If the iPhone is paired with a Bluetooth headset or car kit:
    Try turning off Bluetooth.
If you experience difficulties with the Bluetooth feature, follow these troubleshooting steps.
    Restart the iPhone.
If restarting doesn't fix the issue, ensure that your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS.
If the issue is not resolved, please contact Apple Support.

  • IPhone Randomly Plays Music when Headphones Unplugged

Hi, kind of a strange problem...
Sometimes, seemingly at random, when I unplug my headphones, music will start playing out of the speakerphone. It's always Achtug Baby by U2 (I see why it's Achtung, starts with A but why U2 I dont know, lol).
Just wondering if I'm somehow doing something that would cause this behaviour or if this is a documented bug.

There's already a thread on this here where you might be able to find answers/reasons http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=7871760#7871760

  • I updated my ipod and now i cannot listen to my music when i disconnect it

i have an ipod video 60gb and i updated the software version to 1.2.2 and when i got done updating it i did what i usually did. i ejected my ipod and laid down to listen to it and it said that i have no songs or anything on my ipod? but when i connect it to my computer all my songs are on there. please tell me what to do. i have so much music on my ipod.

The 1.2.2 release requires iTunes 7.5 (Apple didn't tell you that part when you got the new firmware, did they?!) Install 7.5 and you'll be OK.

  • I connected my ipod to a netbook to play music there but when i disconnected it the music on my ipod wouldn't play  it stays at 0:00

I connected my ipod touch to a netbook to try and play music when i disconnected the ipod my music would not play all it does is stay at 0:00 ive tried restarting it than i tried to restoring it but nothing seems to work what can i do?

    Try the following:
    - A reset. Nothing is lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Unsync and resync all the music.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod.

  • Siri and music problems when headphones attached.

sometimes when using siri with my headphones, siri may stop completely whilst in mid sentence or the phone may just lock itself. also when using headphones to skip music tracks, the music may jump by itself or pause itself, then when I click the button play for a few seconds and then pause again... can anyone help?

Looks like this may be a design flaw with the headphone jack... https://discussions.apple.com/message/24167826#24167826
This is very frustrating. I am having the same issue with my iPhone 5s. When I insert the apple original headphones into the jack and I am on a call, sometimes the call gets disconnected. When headphone jack is plugged in, Siri randomly pops up when the wire close to jack is even slightly moved. When I am watching an iTunesU video (with headphones on) the video sometimes continuously starts skipping 15s as if the 15s forward jump button is being repeatedly pressed. Apple, please fix this!!!

  • When Bluetooth headphones disconnect, applications become muted until next launch

When I disconnect my Bluetooth headphones, either by choice, or due to a dead battery, the applications that were routing audio to the headphones become muted until the next time they are launched. Reconnecting the Bluetooth headphones doesn't unmute them.
    Steps to Reproduce:
    1. Use an application with audio going out to Bluetooth headphones.
    2. Disconnect headphones.
    Expected Results:
Audio returns to Mac builtin speakers
    Actual Results:
Application is muted until next launch. Reconnect headphones, and the app is _still_ muted.
Anyone else experience this problem? It's especially annoying when I'm playing video games that can't be quickly relaunched without losing progress.
    System:
    Bose AE2W Bluetooth Headphones
    Mac OS X 10.9.1 Mavericks
    13" mid-2013 MacBook Air, Intel Core i7

If it has NEVER been jailbroke, here are some standard repair procedures:
First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore (or it doesn't help), go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.  You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again.  Also, read this.

  • Bluetooth headphones disconnecting after pausing video content on Yosemite.

MacBook Pro (Retina, 13-inch, Mid 2014)
    Yosemite 10.10.3 (latest public beta)
(short) My Beats Studio Wireless headphones will disconnect after pausing video content.
(long) My headphones will connect without issue. However, after watching video content (either on Safari or QuickTime), the headphones will disconnect from bluetooth. To re-connect, I must turn the headphones off then back on. I have read the bluetooth faqs and there are no solutions addresses this issue. I have had moderate results by removing com.apple.bluetooth.plist and re-pairing my devices, yet, the problem returns after watching video in Safari. This problem only persists on OS X. I have tested the headphones with Windows and iOS and they work as intended with no dropouts.  Any ideas?

    Hi tlacroixia,
Thank you for the response. Because this is not happening when your computer goes to sleep, the first troubleshooting steps I would recommend would be to reset your computer’s PRAM and SMC. Please follow the instructions located in the attached two articles below to complete these steps, and again, please let me know if the issue continues.

  • Music does not stop playing when I disconnect from USB in car

When iphone is connected to car stereo, music does not stop playing when I disconnect the usb cable. If someone is calling me and I unplug from USB, all I hear in my ear is music...I cannot hear the person calling me. Not sure what's happened but it never used to do this. Any suggestions?

Nseries phones have behaved this way since forever.
I don't know any way to change this. Same behavior happens if you unplug your headset or headphones.

  • Auto pause music when car shuts off?

Is there any car power adapter I can use with my 30Gb 5G iPod which will pause the music (via the dock connector) when I shut the car off?
I'm looking for an effect similiar to when you pull the headphones out of the top jack, which pauses the music and eventually puts the iPod to sleep.
I'm trying to keep the iPod and wiring out of sight (in my glove box), and I'll often forget to open the glovebox to press pause when I get out of the car, leaving the iPod battery drained (no car charger currently attached).
Any other ideas? I do remove the iPod at night and when extreme temperatures are expected.
    iMac G5 17" 1.8   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   1Gb memory, iSight, 2 external firewire drives

I have the 5G iPod (with video) connected via the headphone output to an Alpine headunit with a cable (alpine KCA-121B) that goes to the CD-changer input. When the radio powers down, the iPod does not recognize this like it does when I pull an ordinary set of headphones out of the jack.
I currently run my iPod off its internal battery as it sits in my glove box out of sight to me as I drive and to prying eyes when the car is parked (the primary reason I hide it).
I want to buy a car charger that I can also hide in/behind glovebox, and would prefer to find one that can pause playback without relying on my (bad) memory to do so. I would power this new adapter with switched power, which is what the stock (visible) ciglighter/powerjack also runs from.
I suppose I should have asked this question: Will a 5G iPod pause/shut itself off when power to the dock connector is removed (but not the cable itself).
The Griffin PowerJolt would be a likely choice if the answer is yes.
