Pause podcasts during audible notifications?

During my commute I oftentimes use GPS apps (e.g., Apple Maps, Google Maps, Waze) while listening to podcasts using the native Podcast app on iOS 8, all via my vehicle's Bluetooth connection. When these apps generate audible notifications, alerts, or turn-by-turn navigation, the podcast volume is simply lowered until the alert completes, then it returns to its original level. That frequently causes that portion of the podcast to be unlistenable and, therefore, missed, since manipulating the controls on the phone to (say) go back 30 seconds is too dangerous while driving.
Is there any way to make podcasts pause playback during audible notifications?

As of today (October 26, 2013) the AutoSilent App available on the App store has a new update which will allow for audible alerts to be muted while on a call. I just tried it and it works. Great job AutoSilent!

  • Audible notification in mail is minutes late

    Good day to you all,
I recently upgraded to Mavericks and I must say I don't have any issues.
Except when I recieve an email the audible notification is sometimes more then 2 minutes to late.
It is not a big deal but very disturbing when you are in the middle of something and you hear the sound of een email you allready replied to.
Any one else experience this major issue, hahaha.
    Best regards,
    Gerard

  • IPhone not removing played podcasts during sync(using the unplayed feature)

    Hi folks,
I listen to a lot of podcasts. When I used an iPod the sync unplayed option. Once I listened to a podcast it was removed (saving space for more podcasts). With my iPhone I've got the options set up correctly (i.e. set at Sync Unplayed) but podcasts are not removed once I play them.
I called up Apple support and their Tier II were able to confirm the problem and are sending it up to their engineers. Hopefully that'll mean a fix in the next software update.

I am having the same problem.
iTunes transfers all of my podcasts to my 2nd Gen iPod Nano (and replacement 3rd Gen iPod Nano), regardless if I specify 1, 3, or 5 “most recent” podcasts or even completely disable podcast syncing altogether.
How do I know all my podcasts are being transferred?
    1. I see that iTunes is copying them during “Sync”
    2. The podcasts (almost 3 GB total if iTunes transfers all of my podcasts, under 100MB normally) take up space on my 4GB 2nd Gen iPod Nano, preventing me from syncing my music and audiobooks (around 2.22 GB)
    3. On my 2nd Gen iPod Nano, illicit podcasts can be found via “Artist”, “Album”, “Song”, etc.
    4. I see the podcast files when browsing my iPod using third-party software.
What have I tried to fix this?
    1. Closed and reopened iTunes
    2. Checked to make sure I had the most recent version of iTunes
    3. Checked to make sure I had the most recent version of the iPod Software (1.1.3)
    4. Downloaded and reinstalled iTunes (7.6.29)
    5. Reset my iPod
    6. Restored my iPod from iTunes
    7. Reformatted and then restored my iPod
    8. Deleted and restored my entire iTunes Library via Time Machine
    9. Exported, deleted and re-imported my entire iTunes Library
    10. Deleted and re-subscribed to my podcasts
    11. Reinstalled OS X 10.5 (“Erase and Reinstall”)
    12. Purchased a 3rd Generation iPod Nano
    Steps to reproduce:
    1. Open iTunes 7.6
    2. Delete all podcasts, move files to trash
    3. Connect iPod Nano
    4. Uncheck podcast syncing and apply settings
    5. Subscribe to podcast via iTunes Store
    6. Sync
    7. Watch as the podcasts are synced to my iPod
    5. Confirm using third-party software (or browse to tracks on 2nd Gen iPod Nano via “Artist”, “Album”, “Song”, etc.)

  • Low battery audible notification

I've had my BB8200 pearl flip for about 6 months now.  Occasionally I forget to charge my battery and will have the phone in my pocket and it will die and turn off.  I might go hours before noticing it has turned off and often I have missed an important call.  With previous phones I have had they would always have an intermittent beep or audible warning me the battery was low, I would then charge it up if I could or I would turn functions off to extend battery life until I could get it recharged.
It surprises me that there is no option for this kind of feature for this phone, is this the case for all blackberry phones or just this model?
Is there any chance that it was just an overlooked feature and might be added in a future release of OS update?
This forum has been great so for in helping me answer questions with out even having to post, I just read through previous posts and can usally find my answer that way.  So far I have only seen one other post regarding the low battery notification... it had 0 replies.
Thanks for any and all help offered.

You know what, I think I have heard the beep in my earpiece... I can't honestly say I have heard it beep audibly from the speaker.
You could check out MeterBerry, which will give you a low battery alarm.

  • Turn off pause podcast.

How do I turn off this feature?
" If five new episodes come and go without you listening, iTunes will pause your subscription to that podcast. You won’t automatically download new episodes until you’ve had time to catch up by playing at least one."
I want to download all all the time.

Unless this has changed significantly in iTunes 11, I don't think you can "turn it off" before it happens.
However, you should be able to re-start the downloads and then they will continue without "pausing" despite five un-listened episodes. It's sometime since I've encountered this issue, so from memory, if you right-click the Podcast's title in your iTunes/Podcast Library, look at the menu that comes up, for wording such as "resume" or similar meaning. If you don't see that, try clicking on Update Podcast and see if that sorts it out.
I suggest that you do not unsubscribe and then re-subscribe, as this will simply put you back to square one and change nothing. As I say, I have had this happen to me in the past, and I did re-start the downloads which have continued without further "pausing" despite my being more than five epsiodes adrift.
As far as I'm aware, this feature is set by the Podcast provider, so that they can minmise their bandwidth costs. I also recall being told I was wrong about this (but I don't think I am!). My explanation would explain why only some Podcasts pause, while others do not.

  • Two e-mail accounts, only want audible notification for one of them

I have two e-mail accounts, account A is my corporate e-mail account, account B is the account I setup for blackberry.net ([email protected]).  I have been trying without success to setup different alerts for different e-mail accounts.  Basically, I want to turn on audible alerts for account B only, so that I can use the Blackberry as a paging device, only distributing that e-mail account for on-call paging.
Could someone please tell me if that's possible?  At one time, I had alerting turned on, but it was for every e-mail, including corporate e-mail, so that was pretty much useless for my purposes.
NOTE: I have already tried bbalerts.  As far as I can tell, it only alerts for Subject: and From: lines, not the To: line.
    Please help
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Did you change the volume setting as well?
It should be something like this for the settings:
    Out of Holster: Tone
    Ring Tone: (choose one)
Volume: (set to anything other than mute)
Make sure to save the settings.
The "in holster" settings are for when the phone is inside the leather holster usually provided with the phone. The holster has a magnet that, when it is detected by the phone, powers down the screen and locks the keyboard to save battery life.
Do a battery pull once you are done:
    1. Remove the battery while phone is turned on
    2. Wait a few seconds before inserting it again
    3. Allow the long boot up process to finish (takes a few minutes usually)
This clears most software issues that occur on blackberries from time to time. You could also use Quickpull, a free app that simulates a battery pull without physically removing the battery: http://software.crackberry.com/product.asp?id=27660
A battery pull reclaims memory lost during application usage and clears minor software errors that creep in over time. The blackberry runs an OS just like your PC runs windows and the battery pull is the equivalent of a reboot/restart on your computer.

Is there a way to receive an audible notificaton for new email?

    Julian Wright wrote:
If your email provider supports Push email, then you will get audible email notifications automatically. Otherwise, email is only checked when you open the email app.
If you have Fetch New Data set to automatically check every 15, 30, or 60 minutes then you will also get the tone when the system checks for mail and finds mail available.  If you set Fetch New Data to Manually then you will only get the email checked when you open the Mail app.

  • IPhone 4 spontaneously pauses podcasts when playing out loud

As I said in the title. My iPhone 4 randomly pauses if I try to play a podcast out loud.
Has anyone experienced this or even better know how to fix it? I've only had the phone for 2 weeks.
    Thanks

    Update:
My friend claims he never got such an email, so perhaps it's just a glitch? It's still there in my Sent folder, however, although just on the iPhone and nowhere else.
Still curious to hear from Mac officials on this!

  • Ipod pauses repeatedly during workout

During time or distance workout Ipod displays and says "workout stopped, press center button to continue". This occurs randomly and repeatedly. restore Ipod, didn't help. Could this problem be in the transmitter or receiver?
    HP laptop   Windows XP Pro

This is the third time I've used our nike Ipod kit and after about half a mile it started pausing my work out. I would hit the center button to resume and it registered another .2 mile then stopped again. I hit resume and the time began and a pace but no distance. I tried jumping around some and it still didn't work. Eventually it stopped registering pace. I just updated all the settings and the battery life was about half on my ipod. My Nike shoes are brand new.
    Any help out there?

  • Audible notifications based on email accounts

Is there any way to change notifications so that there is an audible difference between received emails?
The Blackberry seems to have this feature, yet the iphone does not currently seem to have an option to do this. This is especially helpful in order to differentiate between a work email and a personal one, letting the user know if this needs to be answered immediately or if the message can wait a few minutes.

This feature is not available with the iPhone. But you can suggest a new feature here: [Apple iPhone Feedback Link|http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html]

  • How to automatically pause podcast when mobile power goes off

I use my itouch in my car to listen to podcasts etc. and power it from the cigarette lighter using and adapter and play it through the radio using the AUX input. Is there a way that I can make my itouch pause whatever it is playing when power from my car stops -- i.e. when I turn off the ignition or unplug from source.
It seems to me that my old ipod did this, but I can't get the itouch to do it. The result is that I come back to the car and the podcast - or whatever - kept running and I have missed a lot of stuff. I try to remember to pause the unit when I stop, but I frequently forget and it's frustrating.
I understand that there may have been a change to the hardware interface between to older units and the itouch.

If you have ever used a laptop and had a general power failure, the laptop keeps on trucking - right?
I think the same think is going on here. You are running on external power (your car) and you remove that external power - the iPod's battery takes over and continues to operate the device.
I think your only option is to pause the podcast - but you can do this by simply disconnecting the audio cable or headphone.
