Although it has not been updated for a while, probably 95% or more of the content is still valid. And specifically using your DVR with other STBs is covered in detail.

  • Play/Rewind/Fast Forward keys not working in Quicktime

How can I assign the F7, F8, and F9 keys (rewind, play, fast forward) to work with Quicktime?  I desperately need to be able to shuffle through footage frame by frame for work, and it just stopped working as I downloaded the OS X Yosemite beta onto my MacBook Air.  Can anyone help?
    Thank you!

Try using the J, K and L keys. A double tap on J and L increases the speed. Triple tap is even faster.
Right and left arrow keys can also step through frames. Spacebar start and pauses.

  • Rewind & Fast Forward Issue

I recently moved from DirecTV to Verizon FIOS TV.
I am having difficulty adapting to the rewind and fast forward functions with Verizon. I find that when I press the <PLAY> button during rewind or fast forward, the system actually is ahead or behind about 30 - 45 seconds. I am used to DirecTV where once I pressed the <PLAY> button, I landed exactly at the spot I saw at the time I stopped the rewind or fast forward.
Am I doing something wrong or does anyone have any suggestions. It is really getting to be a PITA.
    Thanks!

You are doing it correct. When people are fast forwarding, most are not quick reflexed enough to hit play directly on the image they need, So we figure that by the time the play button is hit then , more time has passed so it automatically backs it up.

  • Rewind / Fast Forward

Is it possible to make Logic 8 rewind and fast forward as smooth as PTLE and Nuendo and not jump by Bars??
    Thanks

if you use a controller Logic don't jump by Bars...
however, I always use jump over the Bars because for a composers and arrangers is more easy (and Logical way) to choose the BAR starting of the song...
On Orchestral practice I always ask to musician to start from a specific measure of the song (usually about 4 or 8 bars before a a very difficult part)!
Logic is made for musician.... not for emulate a Tape Wheel recorder.
    My 2 cents!

  • FLVPlayback Rewind & Fast Forward Buttons

Hello gang! You know the Forward and Back buttons in
the FLVPlayback component? Well, I really need to develop Fast

you can purchase, but I really don't want to go that route.

  • Turning off audio when rewinding/fast-forwarding

    Hey there,
I use Quicktime to watch movies that I have to transcribe, so I rewind a lot to re-listen to things. Whenever I rewind, though, the audio plays back too, which is incredibly annoying, especially after hours of listening to the same thing forwards and garbled backwards. Is there any way to turn off the audio when seeking? There doesn't seem to be any easy option on the preference panel.
    Thanks!
    Hank

Is there a way to somehow change the settings so there is no audio playback when rewinding? Since I'm transcribing, I only want to rewind a second or two to relisten to a sentence. It seems like a nuisance to have to mute, rewind two seconds, then unmute again; I'd rather there's just no playback when I rewind.

  • Custom booleans - play, pause, fast forward, etc

I thought this would be an easy one, but my searches haven't yielded any results yet. Does anyone know of a collection of custom Boolean images? I need to implement a playback feature in a program and would like buttons that look like Play, Pause, Stop, Rewind, Fast Forward, etc, such as on a CD player.
    Thanks,

There are 10 kinds of people: those who understand binary, and those who don't.

Under Windows, I would use regular text with some special Fonts. The attached booleans use "Wingdings" and "Wingdings 3" with single characters. (use charmap to pick the right symbol). I would think that virtually all modern windows boxes have these fonts available.

  • I have iTunes version 10.7.0.21 for Windows 7.  It was working fine untill recently.  Now when I play a T.V. show the audio cuts in and out, the video pauses intermittenly and also intermittenly fast forwards.  What is causing this and how do I fix it?

I'm having problems with video play back in itunes 10.7.0.21 for windows 7.  Video was playing fine, but now I'm having audio issues.  Audio cuts in and out.  Also video pauses and fast forwards.  Does anyone know what would cause this all the suddenly?  More importantly does anyone know how to fix this?

All sorted now. Thread can be closed!

  • Quicktime sound is muted on fast forward/ rewind, do not want it

hello, sound is muted when rewinding/fast forwarding movie in quicktime. Any ideas?

I've often do transcription, so shortcuts for ff/fr (⌘ + →/⌘ + ←) with audio enabled was very convenient.
Pressing ff/fr buttons with "Option" key is not an option, pardon the calembour. That's very reduces productivity.
Is there any method to bring back audio when ff'ing/fr'ing, without pressing buttons, only shortcuts?
I don't know of any since the keyboard shortcuts you want to use only cycle through the 2x, 5x, 10x, 30x, 60x playback options—all of which exceed the 1.9x max limit. I, however, would use a different approach for scrubbing forward/backward when transcribing. I.e., I would set the QT player playback to 1.9x with audio and then use gestures for scrubbing—that is, I would use a left-right, one-finger gesture (touch mouse) or left-right, two-finger gesture (trackpad) for scrubbing the playhead. (I actually prefer a foot control for scrubbing but haven't seen one since I retired from a job that included the transcribing of audio tapes.)

  • Problem with fast forward of trackball in media player of 8330

I'm a fairly new BB owner of a Sprint 8330 Curve.  I've checked the newbies site on Crackberry and checked here also.  Can anyone help with this problem:
I've downloaded some MP3 audiobooks from my local public library.  They play fine, but the problem is that it always starts at the beginning every time.  The book is in multiple parts, each of which is 60 minutes long, each of which is treated as a single song.  I can see the reverse, pause, and fast forward buttons but I can't get the trackball to work with them.
When I scroll the trackball to the right to fast forward, it scrolls to the next part of the book, not within the same part (song).  When I scroll the trackball left, it goes back to the last song.  When I scroll it up or down, the whole playlist shows up on the screen and I can scroll through those.
I found one post that talked about how to fast forward video, but it showed a different screen that mine.
I just can't get the trackball to position itself on the progress bar or on the controls.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks.

I've got the same problem with my BlackBerry 8330.  I have v4.5.0.169 (Platform 3.4.0.51). Once i start an audio file, I am unable to select the scroll bar above the play so that I can fast forward through the song, book, etc.

  • Music fast forwards and Siri/Voice control randomly pops up

While music is playing on my iPhone 4S, a number of problems occur. Siri will randomly come on as if I have hit the home button twice, pausing the music (once I hit the home button to turn Siri off the music plays again). The music will also randomly pause and fast forward itself. All of these things occur whether the phone in locked or unlocked. Sometimes, it starts to do these above things without me being in range with it. I have a feeling it is something to do with my Apple earpods. when I walk or move the earpods around a lot, these things are likelier to occur.
I have tried turning off shake to shuffle, raise to speak (for Siri) and I've even tried turning Siri off all together (which simply resulted in Voice Command coming on instead). I went to the Apple store for help and was told to do a backup and then restore the phone to factory settings. After I did that the issue persisted but with less frequency at first, but now it happens pretty constantly again. It seems like a software issue but the restore did not work so I'm not sure. Should I go to an Apple Store and get it checked out?

  • N91 new firmware, unable to fast forward or rewind

I just upgraded my Nokia N91 to the new 2.00.052 firmware and run into a problem. After the upgrade, I can no longer fast forward, rewind or pause tracks encoded in eAAC+ format. If I do attempt to do any of the above actions, the song pauses and just won't unpause. However, the problem doesn't occur with songs encoded in mp3 format.
I have tried formatting the hard drive and erasing the phone memory and updating the firmware again, but to no avail. I have been using the latest versions of PC Suite and Nokia Software updater.
This is pretty annoying, as these are fundemental operations that one might want to do when playing a song. And I love the eAAC+ format, don't want to go back to mp3.
Does anyone have any suggestions at all?
    Cheers

Well, I don't use eAAC+ songs that much, but I can confirm that I have the same problem
It only plays the song from the begining.

  • Fast forward / rewind ?

Guys am  on Windows 7 and  latest upgrade of Spotify - have the player controls gone or am I being stoopid ? It looks like I can only play or pause or move on a  track by control and left / right cursor keys - but there is no play  controls window any more to fast forward or rewind  pause etc  - any advice ? Chips xx

exactly the same here, i want to skip back some seconds not the whole song..i found something inside the spotify app that works for me. i'm on a mac but maybe it'll work in a similar way on windows: just like in the VLC i tried cmd+alt+left arrow and cmd+shift+left arrow the cmd+shift+left arrow worked. it jumps back 4-5 seconds. if they are cross-platform consistent, then ctrl+shift+left arrow might work in windows. let me know!
    cheers, sam

  • Use of remote to fast forward/rewind

I've got movies that I've converted from DVD's and when I play them I want to fast forward rewind, but the behavior of the remote is strange. It seems it I hit it once, I go to the next chapter, if I hold it down it fast forwards, then drops back to normal speed. I can't find any documentation on how this is supposed to work. Can someone tell me where to find some better documentation?

Welcome to the  Discussion forums.
If you press and release 'advance' while playing, the movie will advance to the next chapter.
If the movie isn't chaptered this action will advance it 1/10th (or is it 1/20th) of the movies duration.
If you press and release 'advance' while paused, the movie will advance 10 seconds.
If you press advance and hold, the movie will fast forward.
If you press advance and hold, even longer the movie will fast forward even faster.
There are 3 fast forward speeds.
These rules apply to rewind as well.
Note however that the movie needs to have loaded enough to jump to the appropriate places, if it hasn't there may well be a delay while it loads the appropriate chapter or whatever. If you keep pressing while it is loading the appropriate segment you may well confuse it and yourself. Try to let the blue line reach the end before giving the next command.
Movies with lots of chapters respond much better to these commands since the actions are pretty much dependant on loading chapters.
You may find that using FF and RW are not as responsive immediately after starting a movie, but work really well after you have watched it for a while, how much depends on how long the chapters are, how good streaming is and how long you have been watching.
Movies without chapters aren't a problem, movies with many chapters are better, movies with one chapter are an absolute nightmare.
    Hope this helps.
