  • HT203433 I've bought a book but in iBooks it says paused. How can I get it downloaded?

    I downloaded a book from iTunes and I have synced to my iPad and phone.  It won't download properly on ipad as it says paused on the iBook shelf but ok to read on phone.

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    Try deleting the problematic book (electing to remove original file if/when prompted) and then re-downloading the file from the iBook store.
    You can re-download content purchased from the iBook store (availability varies depending on location) using the purchased option from the Quick Links section in the top right corner of the iTunes homepage in your iTunes application on your computer.

  • 4/30/2011.  Can you please help me.  I have an iBook G4 with Leopard OS 10.5. Yet how do I correct Website movies going flow-pause-flow-pause-flow etc?  Chuck Y Chicago

    4/30/2011.  Can you please help me.  I have an iBook G4 with Leopard OS 10.5 and latest Safari updates and maximum Ram (512 or 640 kb).  Yet how do I correct Website movies going flow-pause-flow-pause-flow etc?  The problem is with the iBook, not the website and movies.  Thank you.  Chuck Y Chicago

    5/2/2011.  Thank you all for your replies.  My iBook is in the third group of the website you referred me to.  I bought it July 5, 2004 at CDW near here.  It had OS 10.3.6.  1GB (GHz.  Power PC G4.), opaque white case. Its screen is 14.1 inches.  Soon after I bought it I had its 128 RAM raised to 640 RAM, to work with maximum capability for converting VCR recorded videos/movie into digital files and burning these onto DVDs.  Later I had an Airport card installed.  As time passed I opened the apple icon (upper left hand corner of the screen), and Softwate Update, and eventually had this install OS 10.5.8.  At first It could only be updated to OS 10.4.  But then after several years I bought Leopard OS 10.5.8 from the Apple store near here.  By then Leopard had been adapted to work on iBook G4.  Its specifications are described with the same Apple icon and About this Mac.
    It will play You Tube and similar websites OK.  But videos/movies from websites such as hulu.com, ABC, CBS and so on, it displays a pattern of flow-pause-flow-pause-flow-pause-flow and so on.
    I thought first to see if this forum would have any suggestions.
    I think probably that its CPU has reached its limit; later Mac laptops have greater CPUs.
    Many thanks to you all.   C Yopst   Chicago

    Hi Peggs,
    Try this:
    Open your iBooks app on your iPad
    Select the Store Button at the top
    Select Purchased at the bottom
    You will see your AppleID on the right at the bottom, then Redeem, then Support
    Click on your Apple ID, and when the AppleID window comes up with the options, Sign Out
    Then Sign In again and try redownloading your book
    Hope this helps!

  • HT201272 iBooks download stuck on paused

    When I try to download a book on iBooks it gets stuck on "paused".  What must I do?

    Hey kave621,
    It sounds as if you purchased Pages from the Mac App Store and have not been able to complete the download and installation, a frustrating situation to be sure. Let's see if we can get you back on the road.
    This article describes what you can do to resume a download from the store -
    Mac App Store: Buy, download, and install apps
    In particular see the section titled Pause, resume, or cancel an app download.
    Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.

  • HT4059 I purchased an iBook and accidentally paused while downloading. Now I cannot download the rest. Message keeps telling to return to purchase site to download, but everything I click on "Download", the message would reappear. Circular logic. Help!

    I purchased A book on iBooks and accidentally paused it while downloading. Now I cannot continue it's downloading. I get a message saying I have already purchased the book and to go to Purchased page to download it. Trouble is, every time I do that, tapping the "Download" button, the same message reappears. EVERY TIME. Circular logic. Help!

    Okay, you need to contact support definitely about what's going on. Here is a form that will send an e-mail into support for you:

    As far as the prices, the difference is likely the laptop version is the SD version and the iPad one is available in HD. That's the only reason you'll see a price difference. It has nothing to do with the device with movies/movie rentals. Apps yes, these no.

  • TTS pause on ibooks version 4.2.1

    I upgraded my Ipad earlier from 3.2.2 to 4.2.1 today and I use the TTS feature under iBooks that reads aloud for you... There is now a .25 second pause between paragraphs that was not in the 2 previous versions of iOS. However, the elongated pause betweeen pages has been fixed. Does anyone else have this issue, and have you figured out a work around?? I also tried TTS on Stanza ereader and there is no pause between paragraphs, but Stanza pages do not auto turn the same as iBook app does

  • TS1702 Sometimes my purchases in iBooks stay as 'sample' or display 'paused'...wi-fi is functioning well.

    Sometimes my purchases in iBooks stay as 'sample' on the library shelf, or 'paused' although wi-fi is connected.  And the titles exist in my Purchased section of the app!  Can you suggest a way to actually open and read these stalled books?  I've tried restarting iPad2, opening the book from Store or Library  or Authdor Page.

    Additional things to try.
    Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    On your iPad go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset network settings and see if that enables you to connect.
    If none of the above suggestions work, look at this link.

  • App updates and iBook downloads stay on pause

    Several app updates and some iBook downloads show "pause" instead of downloading. I can't delete them or start them. Any ideas?

    See if you have something in iTunes that did not completely download that might be causing the jam in the app store or iBooks. If you do find something -  finish that download.

  • HT4059 2 iBooks downloads stuck on "paused" Help!

    I currently have 2 iBook pre-orders stuck on "paused" and can't seem to fix it. Any suggestions?

    Try: Settings>General>Usage>Videos>Edit.

  • How do I delete a book from iBooks which is already partially downloaded?  It's from the iBooks store (free), but now frozen.  It does not respond to "pause" or "delete" but will not continue to download either.  Any suggestions?  Thank you.

    See Subject/Question.

    Problem resolved.  Once I downloaded another book, logging into Apple account, it started the new book downloading and the partially downloaded book (frozen), finally completed its download.  Now I can use it or delete it as normal.

  • When I open a pdf in ibooks the music pauses, with te books it's ok, help me please

    Only with pdfs

    This particular file is a PDF Portfolio, which needs Flash to display correctly. When you open a PDF Portfolio in the Adobe Reader mobile it will open in list view to get around the fact that Flash isn't supported on iOS. So, it won't open properly in a native viewer on iOS only within the Adobe Reader.

  • How can I grant users the ability to pause/resume printing without a "print operators group" password.

    Greetings,
    We are running 10.8.5 on 30 machines in an active directory environment (graphics lab). The clients are experiencing a persistant error when pausing or resuming print jobs. Each time something is paused, it requires an administrator password to resume the job. Administrators are not always present so designers are locked out of all of the printers until we come in (or remote in) to authenticate.
    I spoke with Apple today and they said they would not support active directory accounts and that the account must be edited by the department that created the account because the restrictions come from the Active Directory account preferences.
    On the other hand, I ALSO read that I can edit this in the CUPS interface or modify it with the terminal command below, locally.
    dseditgroup -o edit -u admin_name -p -a user_name -t user _lpadmin
    "dseditgroup" adds the user_name to a group (in this case, _lpadmin).
    And admin_name is the name of your administrator's account.
    a) Must this be modified on the Active directory account or CAN I modify this on the local machine via CUPS or terminal?
    b) If so, how would I grant users the ability to resume printing without an admin password?
    c) If not, exactly what must be modified in the active Directory account to allow pause/resume without an admin password.
    I have seen a terminal command that adds users to the print operatiors group (Ipadmin) and I have seen some info on editing the CUPS interface, If i must edit the CUPS interface to allow this, can anyone point to detailed instructions on how to make this change.
    I also saw info on editing the CUPS interface but the suggestion lacked details as to how and how to return to default if it does not work.
    I also saw a post with these suggestions below but without detail as to how one would carry this out.
    /etc/cups/cupsd.conf
    # All administration operations require an administrator to authenticate...
    <Limit CUPS-Add-Modify-Printer CUPS-Delete-Printer CUPS-Add-Modify-Class CUPS-Delete-Class CUPS-Set-Default CUPS-Get-Devices>
    AuthType Default
    *#Require user @SYSTEM*
    *Require valid-user*
    Order deny,allow
    </Limit>
    # All printer operations require a printer operator to authenticate...
    <Limit Pause-Printer Resume-Printer Enable-Printer Disable-Printer Pause-Printer-After-Current-Job Hold-New-Jobs Release-Held-New-Jobs Deactivate-Printer Activate-Printer Restart-Printer Shutdown-Printer Startup-Printer Promote-Job Schedule-Job-After CUPS-Accept-Jobs CUPS-Reject-Jobs>
    AuthType Default
    *#Require user @AUTHKEY(system.print.operator) @admin @lpadmin*
    *Require valid-user*
    Order deny,allow
    </Limit>
    /etc/authorization
    +The system.print.operator key is new to Snow Leopard and seems to control resuming and pausing a printer queue among other things.+

    <string>user</string>
    <key>group</key>
    <string>staff</string>
    <key>shared</key>

    </dict>
    I have read all posts on this subject and I still am not clear on how to proceed, please assist.
    Thanks in advance,

    Hello again.  For AD environments you can run the following command on each workstation:
    sudo dseditgroup -o edit -n /Local/Default -u localadmin -p -a "Domain Users" -t group _lpadmin
    This command assumes you are typing this interactively on the machine.  Obviously change localadmin to the Mac's local admin's name.  When running you will be prompted for password twice.  Once to elevate permissions (sudo) and once to validate you are localadmin.
    If you are using Apple Remote Desktop (or JAMF or other management suite), you can push this command out while embedding the localadmin's password.
    sudo dseditgroup -o edit -n /Local/Default -u localadmin -P yourpass -a "Domain Users" -t group _lpadmin
    Please note, if your password uses special characters (/-\) this may fail over ARD.
    In Mavericks, AD groups are cached once they are referenced.  If you are dealing with a lot mobile users (laptops) you might want to replace Domain Users with everyone
