Pausing problems

When I pause and turn off my iPod at the end of a track, the next time I start it up, it moves on to the next track without changing the name or details - just leaves the previous one displayed. Then half way through the song, my iPod just automatically turns itself off. It's beginning to become annoying.
Any thoughts?

Yep, it's been doing it since I first got the iPod, and nothing I have done so far has fixed it. It isn't a really big problem, just an annoying glitch

  • Pausing Problem with Epson R1800

After searching this as well as many other forums, I have yet to come up with a fix for this problem.
I am running Leopard (10.5.6) on my iMac. I am connected to the office printer (Epson R1800) via Bonjour. I had a problem with printing a couple months back and fixed the issue by installing the update for Ambrosia Software. Everything since then has been working fine, until now that is.
Every time I try to print something it connects to the printer then pauses. I hit "Resume Printer" yet it just keeps pausing. I've uninstalled the printer drivers, repaired the disk permissions, and reinstalled the drivers using the most updated version. Even after the fresh install I am still getting the pausing problem. Thinking that it was just my computer, I went to use a co-workers computer (iMac w/ 10.5.6) to try and print the document. The co-worker's computer is directly connected to the R1800 via USB yet when trying to print I still get the pausing problem. I've tried printing with Photoshop CS4 as well as Preview and get the same problem.
Has anyone experienced this problem? If so, have you found a fix for it? I've been racking my brain and just cannot come up with a solution.

I have two xerox CP245s doing exactly the same thing. I can print to our color HP and our color xerox, just not the black & white ones. They have worked fine for two years and just started this pausing business yesterday.

  • Playback after pause problems with ipod

I have noticed a common problem with my iPod Classic when dealing with long audio tracks such as podcasts. when I pause well into a podcast and then click again to resume, I often find that the track resumes from the beginning, not where it was paused. Is this a known or fixable problem?

You could try resetting the Firmware... Plug it into your computer, and open iTunes 7.0, when your iPod shows up, click on it and click Restore, this will restore your iPod to the original settings and firmware.
If you cannot get the iPod to plugin and sync with iTunes, you might want to call AppleCare for more information.

  • Printing "pause" problem revisited.

I have been experiencing a much reported error ("printer pause", c.f. many threads in this Forum) but in none of these previous cases was the environment quite the same as mine. I have a "detached" postscript laser printer that supports AppleTalk over ethernet but lacks a USB interface. Therefore, if I install Snow Leopard, which no longer supports AppleTalk, I will be forced to abandon this printer. It does however have a parallel interface that will accept postscript printing data.
To address this problem I acquired a print server that can receive data over ethernet and transmit it in parallel format. I have configured this server to be on my local network and have "added" it as a printer using the LPD (daemon) as the communicator for print postscript printing information. All attempts to print have resulted in the "pause" syndrome as others have experienced it.
I have verified that the print server IP address has been set properly by both "ping" to it and http access of its embedded web page. Also I have verified that the print server communicates with the printer via their parallel interfaces by transmitting text to the printer from my computer over the wireless network using Telnet.
I would appreciate any insight as to what my printing problem might be or some vector as to how or where I might pursue its possible source.

    Greg --
Thank you for responding so promptly.
The print server is a StarTech PM1115p and its documentation is available for download at <http://us.startech.com/product/PM1115P-1-Port-Parallel-10100-Mbps-Print-Server >. The printer is a GCC Elite 12/1200N. I'm not sure what the latter has to do with the problem because the print server is directly connected to it via the (Centronics) parallel interface, but I'm including it because you asked me to. I was told my GCC support that their parallel interface supported input transmitted by LPD over TCP/IP to a print server.
About the print queue ... when I added the print server as a printer under my operating system, OSX 10.5.8, I left the queue name blank and so it defaulted to whatever that OS version uses for its LPD protocol. I certainly see this print queue window appear when I initiate a print process. The print queue is not mentioned anywhere in the PM1115p documentation, and thus neither is its "name." it might be there but I don't recognize it as such. I have a support request into Startech describing my problem. If I had done this after your response instead of before, I would have asked them about the queue name.
I have the CUPS error log output for a single instance of one of the unsuccessful print processes. In case it might be helpful to you, I'm including it below. Incidentally, this print process failure scenario and the resulting error log entries are identical whether I have the printer connected to the print server or not. Seems to implicate the print server. I am wondering if it is defective and if all this thrashing around is really a "fool's errand." I have been fussing with this for way to long and I am hoping that you don't contract my "disease."
    Much appreciation -- Norman

  • Toggle button (play/pause) problem when using smart shape

    Hi,
I am utilizing smart shape as button. I have one play button, and pause button, on top of each other. When "play" is clicked then I display "pause" button, and hide "play" button. Vice versa for pause button. And, I set the buttons to be displayed in the rest of the project. The problem is that buttons are working so irregularly. In some slides they may stop toggling, and when I do go back to previous or next slides, they may start working again, but they may mul-function in other slides then.
Did anybody run into this problem? How can I solve it?
P.S. I cannot user widgets, because of incompatibility with html5.

Thanks for sharing your blog. I actually did whatever you explained in your blog. I created advance actions. I labeled the buttons, btn_Play, btn_Pause, respectively. And, in "Play" advance action, I added the following command "Show -> btn_Pause", "Hide -> btn_Play", and vice versa for "Pause" advance action. It is working, but irregularly.
As the example in your blog, If I test it in the single slide, it is working great. However, if I do consequetive transitions to other slides fastly, it sometimes stops working (for example, when I click "Play" button, the "play" button does not disappear, and "pause" button does not show up). I know this sounds so weird!
Also, another point is that I did not use master slide, I just put them in the first slide, and set them visible for the rest of the project. I see that you did not recommend this practice.

  • Is the gapless / pause problem with Lossless files solved on 120 GB?

    Hey everyone,
I broke my trusty fifth gen 80 GB iPod a few months ago and recently purchased a 160 GB Classic to replace it. I've had two problems that I now know from searching this form that everyone else has had - the iPod pauses between tracks (all my library is Lossless) and it also pauses at random points in songs every now and again (not to mention being horrendously slow when browsing menus). Annoyingly, when I convert the exact same files to MP3 or AAC they play seamlessly no problem.
Like I said, I've searched the forum and although I've found suggestions for the cause, I can't find confirmation that this problem has been solved with the 120 GB Classic. I've sent my 160 GB Classic back for a refund and I don't know whether to send my 80 GB off for repair or buy a new 120 GB Classic.
Has anybody tested to see if Lossless files will play seamlessly without pausing on the new 120 GB?
    Many thanks!

I have some lossless audio files and others in various quality, and the songs (no matter what quality) will sometimes get cut off and the next track on the playlist plays. I don't understand why this is happening, but it doesn't look like the problem you posted about is solved yet.

  • IPod Touch Pausing Problem!!

    Hello all,
Has anyone else had a problem with their iPod touch in that after a few seconds or sometimes minutes of playing music or video, it pauses itself!!!!
I'm not sure if this is to do with the latest software i've downloaded for it or if there's a problem with my ipod. It's doing my head in, i've reset it all, did a restore through itunes as well as a master reset and erase&reset on the touch itself!!
Not really sure what else to do
    Any ideas??
    Regards
    Ryan

Well i tried another full reset through iTunes and that seems to have cured it.
    Hope this helps folks.

  • Video Podcast pause problem

Actuating pause during playback of video podcasts causes the video window to close. This happen using either the new on-screen pause control or the Tray controller. This requires having to restore the iTunes window and restart the video.
This behavior started with version 7 and the 7.0.1 update has not fixed it.

Newer updates have solved t he problem.

  • Video pausing problem

My Video that i ripped from my dvd'd work fine on my itunes and i have it converted to the right settings and all of that i know how to do the video but on about half of my videos pause about every 50 sec. and then have no sound after that. It will play fine on my itunes with no skipping problems. Anybody have any ideas for help?

My experience with my files is that it stops the pausing until the next time you jog the video forwards or backwards. In my case I'm watching a TV series with 30 minute episodes. When an episode starts I run the video ahead 1:30 and then 30 seconds later it pauses. I then hit the center button twice and the video plays fine for the rest of the episode.

  • Is there a definitive solution to the "Leopard Printer Pause" problem?

Curious if there was any definitive solution to the problem of networked printers pausing instead of printing when a job has been sent to it. I've combed these forums looking for solutions and everything that seems to have work for some has not worked for me, including: connecting via LPD rather than AppleTalk and IP, connecting using HP Jet Direct, setting up the printer using CUPS instead of using the System Prefs, etc. I have a Xerox Phaser 4500 that worked fine under Tiger, but refuses to print without pause issues under 10.5.2 (except, oddly enough and unlike others, it WILL print immediately in CS3 apps, or at least InDesign, where I spend 90% of my time). I've got the latest firmware and PPD for the 4500, but no luck. Here's what Console throws up:
    2/19/08 1:24:59 PM Phaser_4500N[8964] CMSCreateDataProviderOrGetInfo : Malformed colorspace
I sure would love to know what's going on. Anything else I should try?

I had the same problem with both my Epson R1800 and CX9400. After 30 minutes with Epson, resulting in the best way to do a clean install of your drivers (outlined in this post:<http://discussions.apple.com/message.jspa?messageID=6761221#6761221>), the CSR said that the issue was Apple Related.
I am hesitant to call Apple, but in this case it proved to be the smartest and best solution. The Apple expert found that this is a known issue stemming from the last security update (Security Update 2008-002) resulting in a conflict involving SSH and printing outlined here: ,http://blogs.zdnet.com/Apple/?p=1437>
The conflict is with a small piece of software called "Instant Hijack" that is installed with many applications offered by Rogue Amoeba. The fix is an update to Rogue Amoeba software such as Audio Hijack Pro. "Instant hijack 2.0.3" is not a stand alone installer, it can only be updated through Rogue Amoeba's software such as Audio Hijack. <http://www.rogueamoeba.com/audiohijackpro/>
Hope this helps, it worked perfectly for me and I have been unable to print a single page since the security update.

  • Workaround for video pausing problem

I too was suffering from the problem where my videos would freeze every 30 or so seconds and then continue playing without sound. I figured out that running the video forward and backward by 5 sec. would let it keep playing for another 30s or so. Last night I discovered that simply pressing the center button twice after it pauses will allow it to keep playing without any more pauses. If you jog the video forwards or backwards then it will start pausing again.
    Hope this helps

  • Nano 8gb pausing problem, not headphones

Hi I'm having a problem with my ipod randomly pausing, i looked online and some were saying it's a headphone problem. It's definately not in this case, I've tried 3 different sets of headphones and two sets of speakers.
It's pausing anything from 2 to 10 times per song, even when lying completely flat on the table with no movement. Could this be a hardware problem or might restoring the factory settings help?
It's rendered it pretty useless and I don't need a very expensive paperweight any suggestions to fix this problem?

Mine is doing the exact same thing! I bought it a year ago and didnt start using it until a month ago so my warranty is up!
I wont even move my ipod and it pauses like every 30 seconds. Its entirely useless.

  • Random/Automatic Pausing Problem

    Yello!
I got my iPod 30GB video this past Christmas and didn't experience any problems till now. Just recently when I was playing my ipod on my way home from school, it suddenly paused when my hold button was on. I was like, hmm it's probably nothing serious. The next morning on the way to school, it starts doing the same thing: randomly pausing on any song with or without the hold button on. I thought it could be the weather (-20 degrees celsius here in Ottawa). I tried playing at home and does the same thing but not as serious. I resetted the player but didn't do anything. I'm on the latest update software (could that be the problem? It started acting this way after the update). I'm resenting to restore it to factory settings leaving it as the last resort cause restoring all my music will be a pain. Anyways, does anyone know how to fix this problem? What is the number or email for direct service from Apple? That's one huge complaint also, I paid $400 for this and I get one sheet of basic instructions with no information about my warranty and contact information except for the main support website which isn't the best intuitive site. Common now Apple, don't be so cheap.

  • YouTube Pausing Problem

I have recently been having problems with YouTube videos randomly pausing and sometimes pausing and opening Siri. Has anyone else been having these problems? Asked a friend in school and he said that it's been happening to him. He has an iPhone 6

This is because you're running sound out of your optical out. Let me ask you this, are you running a video with surround sound through VLC or the like?
I've found that if I am outputting my sound via DD or DTS surround sound, I can't hear any system sound and Flash Videos will freeze ever second or so.
Does hitting play play them for a second and then it pauses again?
if you don't have optical audio setup for your computer, put your finger near the headphone jack and tell me if it is emitting a red laser. If it is, whatever you do, do not look into the hole. use the method I'm telling you or whatever you do don't look into the red light directly.
