Pavilion 15-n076ed - replace harddisk

How can I replace the harddisk of my pavilion 15-n076ed laptop. I want to change the 500GB drive for a bigger one, but have trouble opening the case of my laptop.

Hi:
Please read chapter 6 of the service manual at the link below.
Please note that the hard drive is not a customer-replaceable part.

  • Replacing harddisk for Satellite 2450-101

hi, my laptop harddisk has broken down and I need a replacement harddisk for my aging *Satellite 2450-101* urgently, but I can not find from my mannual and other source the model my laptop support.
I thought it is a *standard internal 2.5" IDE* (and thinking to buy a _Western Digital 250GB 2.5" Hard Drive IDE 5400rpm 8MB Cache - OEM,_ model: _WD Scorpio WD2500BEVE - 250 GB - ATA-100_ ), but I am not certain.
Would anyone know? Please help. Many thanks!

Thank you guys!! Appriciate your helps. Afterall I tried the traditional way today, try it out!
I order from ebuyer the above mentioned harddisk last night, and replaced my broken harddisk with the new one this morning, then run the two recovery disk that came with my laptop, things has gone well. Except that I had no option of partioning the harddisk at the beginning of the process. After a little fiddling with the Computer Manager, my new harddisk is now in a duo partition: ~30GB and ~200GB, which is Okay with me; 30GB is enough for system files, while the other 200GB will keep my data separate. I was suprised that the whole 250GB works fine, at first I was only expecting a reduced disk space leaving the rest wasted, I am happy it all went well.
Also I upgraded my RAM to 1GB from 512MB, which make a significant positive difference in term of system response and speed. I would recommend anyone with an aging Satellite and little RAM to increase its memory, since now aday OS and programs take up alot of memory, this simple upgrade could possibly leave your Satellite runing well for another few years.
Well, now I am back on track!! Thanks guys.

  • Using replaced harddisk as external harddisk

    Hello!
I replaced the hdd of my X60 thinkpad and I would like to use the replaced old harddisk as an external hdd. I put it into an external 2,5' USB assembly, but the HDD is not recognized...

    - The drive appears in the "remove hardware" tray icon as Hitachi...USB Device, but under settings/volumes no volumes are listed (the list is empty).
    - There is no entry in my disk managment console
Did you mention this because when you had the drive in your system there was a hard drive password set in BIOS?
If this is the case, you will need to reinstall the drive in your X60 and remove the hard drive password. The drive doesn't need to be an FDE drive to be "locked" and invisible to an OS.

  • Unable to replace Harddisk for Macbook

    Hi
I am trying to replace my macbook hardisk. here are the steps I followed, but no success
    1. reomved battery
    2. removed L shaped RAM door
    3. pulled harddisk
    4. remove the old harddisk from the base
    5. plug new harddisk on the base, and push into the slot.
    6. put back RAM door and battery
    7. put the OS disk to install OS.
I am facing the problem here when i select the utility from the menu, screen appears but i dont see icon for new harddisk, i think the harddisk is not recognised and I am unable to install OS on new drive.
Am i missing any step, Please help!!!
    Thanks

You will find the Apple manual for replacing the hard drive here.
    After replacement do the following:
    Extended Hard Drive Preparation
    1. Boot from your OS X Installer Disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Installer menu (Utilities menu for Tiger or Leopard.)
    2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Note the SMART status of the drive in DU's status area. If it does not say "Verified" then the drive is failing or has failed and will need replacing. SMART info will not be reported on external drives. Otherwise, click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
    3. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID (only required for Intel Macs) then click on the OK button. Set the number of partitions from the dropdown menu (use 1 partition unless you wish to make more.) Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the volume(s) mount on the Desktop.
    4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
    5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Options button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
    6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
Steps 4-6 are optional but should be used on a drive that has never been formatted before, if the format type is not Mac OS Extended, if the partition scheme has been changed, or if a different operating system (not OS X) has been installed on the drive.

  • Replace harddisk with larger capacity

My NMH405 now runs with two 500GB disks in RAID1. I want upgrade both disks to 1T (or maybe 2T). Please advise if the following steps make sense:
    1) power off NMH.
    2) replace slot B with a larger capacity disk (i.e. slot A = 500G, slot B = 1T).
    3) power up NMH and rebuild RAID1. I guess the total capacity still remains as 500G, right?
    4) power off NMH.
    5) replace slot A with a larger capacity disk (i.e. slot A = 1T, slot B = 1T).
    6) power up NMH and rebuild RAID1.
Now does the capacity remain as 500G or 1T? Or it doesn't work?
    Thanks.
    cs

I just got off the call with Cisco support Singapore. This guy Eric was very patient with my questions about replacing the harddisk with larger capacity. He went away to check the documentation and called me back after 30mins with the steps - start with replacing slot B with 1T, let it rebuild, and then replace slot A, and let it rebuild. It will then be 1T RAID1.

  • Replacement harddisk for TiBook G4

    Hi
I have a friend who owns a Tibook G4 500mHz, 1 MB ram with a 20 GB harddisk. It is much too small and she needs it replaced with a bigger one. What harddisk can you recomend? How big 120 MB?
    Berit

    Hi Berit –
I believe [this|http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/powerbookg4/stats/powerbook_g4500.html] is the detailed spec of your friend's machine. I have a similar machine and I put in a 120GB hard drive myself. It's not very difficult to install so long as you follow the instructions and take your time.
[This|http://eshop.macsales.com/item/Western%20Digital/WD1200BEVE> drive will work. Don't forget if you're installing it yourself you'll need a set of Torx 8 screwdrivers like [these|http://www.macupgrades.co.uk/store/productinfo.php?productsid=361].
[This|http://www.mcetech.com/manuals/g4_ig-ss.pdf] set of instructions will show you how it's done – it looks more complicated than it is...

  • Sudden motion sensor not working with replacement harddisk?

I replaced the original harddisk of my Macbook pro (500 GB, 7.200 rpm, model no. HTS725050A9A362) with the retail version of the same harddisk (model no. HTS725050A9A364).
Now I'm missing the typical "click" when the sudden motion sensor parks the heads and I'm afraid it's not working - although "pmset -g" shows "sms 1".
Is there anything else I can check, e.g. enable head parking at harddisk-firmware level?
    Thanks
    Juls

For future reference, here are a couple of kb articles on the sudden motion sensor:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1935
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1934
As has been said, Apple's Sudden Motion Sensor is not actually built into the hard drive. In fact, some hard drives with their own version of a sudden motion sensor like Seagate's G-Force Protection actually will set up a conflict with Apple's Sudden Motion Sensor.
I installed the same WD in my Mac as you did, and I hope you enjoy it as much as I have been enjoying mine.

  • Replacing harddisk on Satellite X200

I want to replace the toshiba hardisk with a different one. Can I use the product recovery cd to install windows vista? What special install procedures apply for those upgrading their hard drive?

    Hi,
yes you can replace the harddisk with another one. Just make sure the harddisk fits into the machine and is a SATA drive. Otherwise it shouldnt be a problem.
Regarding the recovery: yes, you can install Vista by simply using the recovery CD. And NO, there are no special procedures which apply after replacing the harddrive.
Thats all, I wish nice installing.. ;)

  • Pavilion g6-1096sa - Replacement Hard Drive - Windows 7 Fresh Install - Sata Issue

A friend dropped her HP Pavilion g6-1096sa Notebook PC and the hard drive has failed (or at least I think it has).
Of course, this was before burning the restore CD's.
Before I get her to purchase a new hard drive, I wanted to install a vanilla copy of Windows 7 on a spare drive that I have (to prove 100% that the drive is faulty) but it's failing with :-
" This computer's hardware may not support booting to this disk, ensure that the disk's controller is enabled in computer's bios menu ".  The installer sees the drive, but won't install onto it.
It's an old 80 GB SATA II drive that I had lying around at work, which should work fine.
I've checked the bios and I can't see any options for the hard disk.  I'm guessing that the bios is pretty basic, and you can't just boot into the sata controller to enable AHCI support or similar.  I would have thought that AHCI support is already enabled or the original drive wouldn't have booted.
Does this model need a specific sata driver.  I've checked through the driver downloads, and cannot find one for Windows 7 (found the XP version though).
Do I need a driver, or do I need to do something in the BIOS?
PS: If I put the original disk back in, I can start to load Windows 7 on it from a bootable download from Microsoft's website, but crashes at random intervals.  (I think the clicking noise is giving it away though).

No one have any information on the BIOS or SATA for this model :-(

  • Pavilion dv7-5003tx replace hdd recovery disks error code OxeOefoooe please help.

have tried both recoveries hangs at 45% and goes no where

    Hi,
One factor that can cause this error is replacing the original HDD with a drive of smaller capacity - if this is the case, recovery discs almost always fail to work correctly, however there isAssuming this is an alternative option you could try.
Before trying the following, make sure you can still read the 25 Character Product Activation key on your Windows COA label ( 5 blocks of 5 alpha/numeric sets ).
An example of a COA Label can be seen Here.
You can create a Windows 7 installation disc yourself using another PC - just download the correct Disc Image ( this must be the same version that originally came with your notebook ) from the link below and use an application such as ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly to a blank DVD - a guide on using ImgBurn to write an ISO to a disc is Here.  These Images are clean and from a well-respected source, however there are only limited versions available.
    Windows-7 sp1-iso-official-32-bit-and-64-bit
Use the disc to perform the installation, enter the Windows activation key found on the COA Label when requested and when the installation has completed, use the 'Phone Method' detailed in the link below to activate the OS - this method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who just want a clean installation of Windows 7 without the additional software load normally bundled with OEM installations.

  • Hp pavilion dv6-1360us replaced battery, still getting warning message

how can I turn off this replacement message?

I would recommend you to update the latest BIOS from the support and driver download page on hp.com and then update the latest HP Support assistant software too and run a battery health check.
You can follow the instructions from the following document:
