Pavilion 15-p001ax RAM upgrade

Hi, i would like to know how much RAM can i add to this notebook and what specifications it has.
Also how many slots there are avaiable for this model.
Thank you so much

Ary.
You would first need to remove the top cover.
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c04324972&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en
Then remove the motherboard.
Red are cables.
Blue are screws.
Then turn the motherboard over.
The memory is located on the under side.
Best left to someone that has done this before.

  • Pavilion dv4 memory/RAM upgrade

I have a HP Pavilion dv4 (15inch screen), not sure rest of the model #. It's on WIndows 7 Home premium 64 - bit operating system with 4 GM of RAM. I am looking to increase the RAM and wanted to know if anyone knows the maximum  I can expand to and also if there is 1 or 2 card slots for the memory? Any help would be appreciated. Ideally looking to make it 8 GB or RAM if possible.

Since you do not know what kind it is I have to assume it is the oldest dv4 series, the dv4-1000. These use Core 2 duo processors and DDR2 memory and belong to a bygone computing era. The max on them is 4 gigs.  Can you maybe identify the processor you have in the machine? This would narrow it down a bit. If your memory is DDR2, then 8 gigs of it costs an arm and a leg. DDR3 is much more affordable but not used until later models. The dv4-3000 uses 2d generation Intel Core processors and can take up to 8 gigs of DDR3 memory, for example  All DV4s have two memory slots.

  • Hp pavilion 15-n203tx RAM upgrade

I have Hp pavilion 15-n203tx laptop with 4 GB RAM which I have bought in March 2014.
I want to increase the RAM but simply am not able to find out how much more RAM can I install (whether my motherboard can support max 6 GB or 8 GB RAM).
I also want to ask whether the warranty and the extended warranty which I have separately bought will become null and void if I install additional RAM on my laptop.
I am a student and have programming needs therefore the need to increase my RAM for educatioal purposes as my laptop is getting slowly day by day after loading on some heavy programming software.

    Hi,
The first manual of the following link will tell you all:
        http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/manualCategory?cc=us&lc=en&product=6622367
And page #45 will show you how to add/replace RAM and part # (you can buy elsewhere but anything wrong, you have to contact other vendor FIRST). For warranty, page #39 will tell you which components you can do yourself.
    Good luck.

  • Memory modules can we use for RAM upgrade of HP Pavilion dv5-1198de??

What memory modules can we use for RAM upgrade of HP Pavilion dv5-1198de??
    Max RAM?  Vista?  Windows 7?

I can't find a dv5-1198de but I did find a dv5-1198er which should be similiar. It states up to 8 gb of ram. HERE
I would try www.Crucial.com for suggested memory ,you can use their Scanner Tool to let it detect what you have and what you can upgrade/replace with.

  • Ram upgrade 8- 16gb Dv7

Hi everybody, can I upgrade the RAM of my HP Pavilion dv7 (LX258EA#ABZ) / CPU i72630QM / mainboard 3389 / WIN7 64 Home Premium? I have 2x4 gb (i THINK DDR3 dual channel) and I would go for 2x8gb modules. Is there a compatibility charts somewhere, just to be sure to buy the right modules? Thanks for your replies,Guido

Hi,          The Maximum RAM upgrade on this unit is 8GB. You can check the information from the below link http://support.hp.com/bg-en/document/c02884765

  • RAM upgrade on HP EliteBook 8730w

Hi, I just bought two new hynix 4GB SODIMMs (4GB 2Rx8 PC2-6400S-666-12) and tried to install them into my laptop without luck. The computer starts with black screen and after a second or two the numlock and caps lock indicator LEDs starts to flash in blocks of three. The computer won't boot past this. From what I can gather 8GB RAM upgrade is possible and the mentioned RAM should be the correct one. Could either or both RAM sticks be faulty? Any help is greatly appreciated!

    Hi,
Generally, it's best to upgrade memory with matching modules so a suitable upgrade can be seen on the following link.
    http://www.crucial.com/store/listparts.aspx?model=Pavilion%20dv6-3225dx&Cat=RAM
If your notebook already has 1 x 4Gb Module and you just wish to purchase an additional one, use an application such as CPU-Z to match the specifications to your existing memory ( check the Memory and Spd tabs ).

  • HP dv6-6c75sa Windows 7 64-bit RAM upgrade

I am running an HP dv6-6c75sa on Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit, with an Intel Core i3-2350M processor. My installed software is a combination of 32- and 64- bit compatible.
When I purchased the computer, I installed a RAM upgrade which took the total onboard RAM to 8GB. Due to a system issue which I cannot now recall, a search query informed me that my system would only recognise 6GB of what I had installed.
My computer is now 2 years old, and to extend its lifespan, and help it keep up with a recent software install which it cannot seem to cope with (Native Instruments Traktor 2, and Kontrol S4; I would like to make a new RAM upgrade.
I think that the reason only 6GB of my 8GB installed was recognised, may have had something to do with the 32- vs. the 64-bit system, but I can't be sure.
I know that the maximum RAM for Windows 7 Home Premium is 16GB. What changes could I make now that would allow my system to work at or near 16GB of RAM capacity?
Also, where I have a mishmash of 32- and 64-bit software, on a clean install running 64-bit, I believe that I should be able to get all of my software running again. Are there any traps I should look out for that may hamper this.
Do you think that my processor is the thing that is limiting my RAM capacity?
    I would appreciate your input.

    Hi @hyfpxm ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion dv6-6c75sa  Notebook and concerns with system recovery.
Here is a document on performing a system recovery. Here is a document on troubleshooting issues with performing a system recovery.
Always back up important information before attempting a recovery.
This system supports up to 8 GB DDR3  10600 1333-MHz and I would recommend 2- 4s. Here is a link to the manual page 60 for the memory. If the specs are correct for your memory I would reseat it.
Use the built-in Windows System Information utility to view information on Operating System, CPU type and speed, 32Bit or 64Bit design, and installed RAM memory. The section marked Find specifications using Windows System information.
    Hope this helps.

First go to the RIM web site and look to see if they have an uninstaller for the device you had.  Some times a reinstall of the application and then running the uninstaller is required for complete removal.
If no uninstaller is available, then you will have to use Spotlight to find all items with 'Blackberry' and 'Rim' in the titles.  I would also download EasyFind and use that to locate such files.  Often it will locate items that Spotlight misses.
    Ciao.

  • HP Envy 13 1030nr. Windows 7 64-bit. RAM upgrade help.

I just purchased a RAM upgrade for my Envy 13 and I was trying to figure out how exactly to access the memory module.  I couldn't find a youtube video for the Envy 13 and reading the maintenance manual provides only partial instructions to access the memory module.  It tells you what you need to do (Disconnect the TouchPad cable 2 from the low insertion force (LIF) connector on the system board) but not how to do it without damaging the computer.  I don't want to permanently sever a cable or anything so I'm looking for help via a link to a video or more detailed instructions on exactly how to safely access the memory module.
I was under the impression that this would be a quick replacement, but the more I read the manual, the more I think that this is going to be a little more complicated than opening up the bottom and removing the current RAM chip and replacing it with the one I have.  Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks!

    Here is the Manual:
    Manual
Memory is indeed on the motherboard and getting there requires nearly complete disassembly. See Page 4-26. Not sure how this qualifies as "easy" and if you have not done this before you should get some help. And yes, keep careful track of those screws.

  • Hard Drive and RAM upgrades for latest 15" MBP

I'm minutes from ordering a new MBP. Only concerns are whether I get hte Apple upgrades or shop around.
    I like this Hard Drive...
    http://www.compu2000.com/index.php?l=product_detail&p=6433
    And this RAM upgrade...
    http://www.a-power.com/product-10937-311-4
If these are equivalent to the apple options I can save hundreds and get a 320 GB drive, which will make a great portable.
So, does my plan hold water?

You're on your own for support when you do your own upgrades like this, but generally speaking, it works fine.
Note that HDD is less risky than RAM. With RAM you run the risk of unstable behavior that is tougher to diagnose. That said, a quality RAM upgrade and some initial testing with any of many available tools is as good as a factory build.
HDD upgrades are less risky, and I've upgraded (well, replaced after HDD death) ones in my MBPs many many times. I crunch my hard drives more than normal and have to generally replace them about every year. Some of the MBPs don't make this easy, and prepare to get all sorts of cozy with little 0 and 1 sized Phillips screwdrivers and some T6 as well, but it is doable (just not quite for the truly faint of heart).
Again, you're on your own for support once you do this, so weigh that in your decision.

  • This is the regular status of the memory of my macbook pro. Do you think I need a RAM upgrade?

    Hi there,
I'm hoping to seek the expert views of the community here.
I have a MacBook Pro, Late 2011, 17 inch. Running latest version of Mavericks. Speed seems to have slowed somewhat, perhaps since I upgraded to Mavericks, but not certain about that. Based on my research of the Apple communities, I suspect that I may benefit from a RAM upgrade.
Attached are a few screen shots to assist:
Based on what I have researched in the community, the fact that I have used 3.99GB of 4.00GB, and have used 5.63GB of Virtual memory, seems to suggest to me that I have well and truly maxed out my RAM. Also there is a high number of read ins/outs (but it had been a wheile since I last did a restart on the MBP (if that has any effect on these numbers here).
I have also read that my model of MacBook Pro is upgradeable to 16GB of RAM (2 x 8GB).
Thoughts and views from the community would be greatly appreciated. Will additional RAM help the speed and performance of my MacBook Pro?
    Many thanks.

More RAM is always a Prudent move...

  • 24" iMac (Primo 2009) strange RAM upgrade issue

I have a 24" iMac (Primo 2009) at work. I been granted a RAM upgrade by the IT department and have received 2 indentical 4 GB modules.
The 24" iMac (Primo 2009) uses 1066 MHz DDR3 modules and supports up to 8 GB RAM in 2 slots. I have purchased RAM from this source http://www.dustin.dk/product/5010642132/corsair-4gb-ddr3-1066mhz-1x4gb-so-dimm-i mac-macbook-macpro/#intcmp=searchProvider_SiteSeeker (Corsair Mac Memory so they SHOULD be fine.)
    Here's the issue:
I had 2x 2GB modules. I have taken both out.
I have inserted the new 2x 4GB modules but the machine refuses to boot. It gives off 3 beeps-interval-3 beeps-interval (repeats).
I took out one of the 4GB modules from slot B. It boots.
I inserted the one I removed in slot B again so we're back at 8GB. same beeps. No boot.
I switched the 2 4GB modules from slot A+B around. Now beep-interval-beep-interval (repeats) No boot.
I inserted one 4 GB in slot 1, and one of the old 2 GB in slot 2. It boots with 6GB RAM.
I inerted only the one that won't boot when in slot B in slot A, beep-interval-beep-interval (repeats) No boot.
OK - so logical deduction tells me one of the new 4GB RAM modules is defective. No matter what configuration, booting fails with that specific module inserted, though there are different beeps. I also know tha both slots work since the machine works with 6 GB RAM (2+4).
So I called Dustin, and since we're a big customer they sent a new moduel for free. But, I have the same isssue with the new module!! What are the chances I have recived 1 working and 2 defective modules? not big right? So my iMac seems fine with the old 2GB modules and one of the new 4 GB modules, but says no to the 2 other 4GB modules.
YES - I have tried resetting PRAM and SMC to no avail. Any clue?

Switched the 2 modules around, so there's now a 2GB in slot A and a 4 GB in slot B. Still works fine
