Pavilion 25xi has power button lock out and keeps turning itself off

My Pavilion 25xi has the  message "power button lock out" and we have tried holding it for 10 seconds (hard with a swipe button). We have also disconnected the power for 30 sec and then reconnected. All these to no avail. It also id prone to turning itself off and when the screen is reset, there are no icons and none of the programs on the task bar are able to be opened. This means turning the who;le computer on and off, thus losing any work on the computer that was in process. Help!

Hello @BillHendo,
I understand that you are getting a 'Power Button Lock-out' error when you push the power button on your HP Pavilion 25xi monitor.I am providing you with some steps you can try below:
Step 1. Hold the power button down for 30 seconds
Step 2. Unplug the power cord from the back of the monitor and the wall
Step 3. Hold the power button down for at least one minute
Step 4. Plug the power cord back into the monitor and then into the wall outlet (not a power bar or surge protector)
Step 5. Press the Menu button on the monitor
Step 6. Navigate to the Factory Reset option and select it
Step 7. Try different cables between your computer and monitor.

You will need to restore your device as New to remove a Restrictions passcode. Go through the normal process to restore your device, but when you see the options to restore as New or from a backup, be sure to choose New.
You can restore from a backup if you have one from BEFORE you set the restrictions passcode.

  • My iPhone 3GS keeps turning itself off all the time for no reason every time I put it on silent or just get a Facebook message I have a broken sleep/power button anyone know how to fix this problem?

My iPhone 3GS keeps turning itself off all the time the power/sleep button dosent work so it's quiet annoying having to plug it in all the time dose anyone have a fix for this?

The "fix" is to get the phone repaired.  There's no magic solution for a broken phone.
Bring your phone ant $149 to Apple for an out of warranty replacement, or find a 3rd party repair shop near you.

  • When I turn my ipod on why does the screen stay blank and then turn itself off?

When I turn my ipod on the normal start up screen appears with the apple logo in the middle, but then after a few seconds the screen goes blank and it turns itself off. It was working fine the other day. I even charged it overnight to make sure that it wasnt because it was out of battery. I dont know what to do, it has over 600 songs on it and around 300 photos, I know that the memory isnt full because I checked the other day and it said I had around 1GB left. I cant do anything on at all because the screen just goes blank and then turns itself off. Please help, thank you

Well, I strongly suspect that a gig isn't quite enough "extra" storage to allow operation.
However, first, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  It could take well over an hour!  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod.  As before, say "yes."  Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time.  If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device.  Corrective action is simple -  choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here.

  • After updating my iPod 4 and my iPhone 3gs to 5.1 it keeps turning itself off whenever I'm trying to load a larger web-page, or doing some hard operations. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

After updating my iPod 4 and my iPhone 3gs to 5.1 it keeps turning itself off whenever I'm trying to load a larger web-page, or doing some hard operations. Is there anything I can do to fix this?

Have yu tried the standard fixes:
    - Reset. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

  • My ipad2 keeps turning itself off and On

my ipad2 keeps turning itself off and on. I can be playing a game or looking on the Internet and it will just turn off and restart all by itself. I pulled up and hooked it up to itunes on my computer but I'm not really sure what to do there either.  It's so annoying, especially when it's used daily, or all day, by me or my kids and it's constantly shutting off in the middle of things.

DId the rebooting start recently after doing an iOS update or installing a game?
There could be several reasons for your iPad randomly shutting down & restarting.
Sometimes low memory (RAM) can cause the issue.
First, restart the iPad by holding down the home & sleep/wake buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears then let go and wait until the iPad boots up normally.  This can help clear the cache & free up memory.
If that doesn't work, try a general reset:
Settings->General->Reset->Reset All Settings.  You will not lose any data but will have to log back into your Wifi networks.
If the issue occurs while using a particular app, try uninstalling the app to see if it continues.
As a last resort try restoring the iPad back to factory settings.  Be sure to backup your iPad first.
Use iTunes to restore your iOS device to factory settings - Apple Support
Unfortunately, it may also be that your battery is starting to fail but try the above to see if the problem persists.

  • My iPad mini keeps turning itself off and then the apple logo keeps flashing constantly, i have charged it fully and restored it many times. what can i do?

My iPad mini keeps turning itself off and then the apple logo keeps flashing constantly, i have charged it fully and restored it many times. what can i do?

If you have restored to factory settings and started as new, there is nothing more that you can do on your own. Make an appointment at an Apple Store and ask them for help. You might have a hardware problem and the Apple Store techs will be able to determine that.

  • Yesterday I was pushed into the sea with my Iphone 5s in my back pocket, as I got out I took my phone out of my pocket and it turned itself off. I have tried many ways but still is unsuccessful and wont turn on, what shall I do?

I was pushed into the sea with my iphone 5s in my back pocket, I got out and pulled my phone out of my back pocket and it turnt itself off. I went straight home and tried using a hair dryer but was unsucessful, put it in rice which also failed and i left it screen up on the radiator over night but still wouldnt turn on. It has charge on it although i still tried plugging it in to give it power and still was unable to power up. Can anyone give any suggestions on how i can fix it as for its not even 2 months old.

Try putting it in rice for a few hours. It does sound daft but it did work for mine
If you're going to put a phone in rice (not daft at all, the rice acts as a dessicant), it needs to be for a few days, not a few hours. The OP stated in their post that the did put it in rice. In addition to the liquid damage, salt water is also much more corrosive to electronics than plain water. The rice won't help with the salt.

  • My iPhone 4S keeps turning itself off when I still have battery life and then it doesn't charge?

It's only just started doing this and it's really annoying me now!! Ha
I'll charge my phone up overnight then a couple of hours into the next day the battery wil be down to about 20% then it will say I only have 10% left even though I will have 20% if you see what I mean? And then to top it off it turns itself off and won't let me recharge!!
It did happen to my iPad the other week but that seems to be fine now.
I've tried changing and checking chargers etc but they seem to work it other people's and my iPad seems fine now

    Hi there glee154!
I have an article here that can help you troubleshoot this issue with your iPhone. The article is about troubleshooting a multitude of iPhone hardware issues, and can be found right here:
    iPhone: Hardware troubleshooting
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2802
The specific section you will want to reference can be found here:
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIs and corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 15 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.

  • Set date and time automatically keeping turning itself off?

Every time I go to the App Store I get a pop-up stating that it can't connect and that this may be caused by an incorrect date and time setting.  I go to Settings and discover that "Set Automatically" has somehow turned itself off.  I can turn it back on and then access the App Store.  Until the next time.  When the whole problem starts over.  Why won't it stay on Set Automatically?  Thanks.

Try this first. Reboot your iPad.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider if it appears on the screen - let go of the buttons. Let the iPad start up.
If that doesn't work, you can reset all settings. Settings>General>Reset>Reset all Settings. That will turn all of the settings back to factory defaults and you will have to enter them again. You will not lose any data.
You can also try restoring from a backup - if you have a recent backup. The backup contains the device settings and that just might work. It worked for me when I was experiencing the very same problem that you are having.

  • Magnavox TV keeps turning itself off and on

I have a 19" Magnavox in my kitchen less than 2 years old. When I turn it on, for about 30 minutes it constantly switches itself off and on making a high pitched noise, then it finally comes on with no sound at all. I then have to switch it off and switch it on again and then it works OK and only switches itself off/on occasionally.
It was only about $200 but still it should last more than 2 years. Is this fixable? I asked in Best Buy but they said it could be hundreds of things and it would cost $100 just to look at it which is not worth it for a TV that cost $200. I leave this TV on all day to keep my dogs company if I am out but now am beginning to think it might not be safe - but if I turn it off I have to go through this whole long process again.

Electronics have gotten smaller and more complicated, and so repair costs have gone up. Change with the times, man.

  • My ipod keeps turning itself off,  it syncs and charges fine. does anyone know what i can do?

i brought a second hand ipod, i would told it was fully functional. however, sometimes it likes to turn itself off halfway through songs.
it syncs to my mac fine and the battery can last upto a few days.
does anybody please have any advice? thanks.

Have you restored it in iTunes yet? If the issue is software related then a restore will resolve your issue, since it will remove all data and system software and reinstall the system software.
