Pavilion 25xi osd lockout

Hi,
I have a pavilion 25xi monitor. The picture is great and I love it except for one extremely frustrating issue.
The control panel are all touch buttons that light up when you touch them. However, whenever the air turns on in my house, the screen thinks I'm pressing the buttons (it's just light air movement in the house.....) and I get the annoying
OSD LOCKOUT white box that fills the middle of my screen.
If I am watching a movie or playing a game, it's difficult to multitask while leaning forward to hold the menu button for 10 seconds to turn it off only to have it pop up again later.
So far, I have closed my vents when using the computer and even set up a screen to block the air. It does not matter. I have placed paper and plastic over the buttons, but that also doesn't work. I tried a factor reset as well. Nothing works.
The solution I -WANT- is to have the buttons completely disabled, but that isn't available.
Does anyone have a solution to my problem?

Hello Underdon15,

At first I thought wow an April Fools post and then I got to thinking what could cause the issue as you are describing it. I seriously doubt that the air movement or even the temperature of the air could impact the buttons on your monitor in anyway. I am curious if it could be either the draw of power that the air conditioner is making when it is on that is not providing the power required to the monitor or the reverse there is a feedback (surge) of power that may be too much and the monitor cannot handle it.
To eliminate this I am going to recommend that you change the outlet that the monitor is plugged into to another room in your home. What I want is to ensure that the outlet that the monitor is plugged into is not on the same line as the air conditioner. The line I am talking about would be from the breaker on the breaker panel so anything connected to that same breaker would be considered on the same line.
If the issue is resolved doing this then you know you cannot connect the monitor to that line and can make the appropriate changes. Personally, I would ensure that you do not have an electrical issue in your home.
If the problem persists then it is an issue with the monitor and you are still under warranty I think it would be best if you contacted HP technical support for repair options.

  • Osd lockout keeps poping up in center of screen and can't be removed?

PRODUCT IS A HP PAVILION P6-2220t
    OPERATING SYSTEM IS WINDOWS 7
    MONITOR IS HP L1940T
WE JUST PURCHASED THE NEW PAVILION ON 9-1-2012 WHICH CAME WITH THE KEYBOARD AND A MOUSE. THE MONITOR KEEPS DISPLAYING A OSD LOCKOUT IN THE CENTER OF THE SCREEN ALONG WITH A MENU WHICH WE CAN'T CHANGE OR REMOVE.  WE HAVE TRIED VARIOUS REMIDIES SUGGESTED LIKE SHUT DOWN AND UNPLUG BUT NOTHING HAS WORKED.  SINCE THIS IS A NEW COMPUTER IT IS FRUSTRATING TO NOW HAVE THIS PROBLEM.  THE MONITOR ALWAYS WORKED PERFECTLY WITH NO PROBLEMS UNTIL WE GOT THIS NEW COMPUTER. PLEASE HELP....THANK YOU
    SOLOMIO

    Hello solomio,
OSD lockout usually pops up when the monitor menu but has been depressed for a few seconds and the message displays briefly and then goes away.
Try pressing and holding the menu button on the monitor for a few seconds to first unlock the OSD.
If the menu continues to come up and then go away then the menu button on the monitor is broken and the monitor would need to be replaced.

    Hi,
    Try this procedure:
    OSD Lockout is displayed.
The monitor's OSD Lockout function is enabled.
Press and hold the Menu button for 10 seconds to disable the OSD Lockout function.
If the above fails to solve the issue then try a monitor reset.  Unplug the monitor’s power cord and hold down the monitor’s power button for 30-60 seconds. Plug the monitor back in and power it up.

  • No display (sleeping). OSD = 016x 350 - 00Hz [H=.3KHz, V=0KHz]

After attempting to connect my v1907 LCD monitor to a new Dell Inspiron 660 with a discrete GT 620 graphics card, I only get messages that the monitor is going to sleep or there is no signal input. After much plugging/rearranging/replugging cables of an old VGA monitor and the DVI-to-DVI HP v1907 to various arrangements of onboard VGA and discrete VGA or DVI, I finally resorted to a close reading of the monitor owner's manual.
I now am at least able to get to the monitor's OSD after bypassing the OSD lockout, but the monitor's current settings are shown to be 016x 350 - 00Hz and H=.3KHz, V=0KHz. A factory reset seems not to work and I cannot find another means of restoring the monitor's default resolution. While in this state, and with no video cable attached, the monitor does not sleep but goes to sleep as soon as I connect the DVI input. (Default input is Digital - DVI.)
Additional info:  When I first applied Windows updates to the new PC, there was one listed as optional for the 1907 monitor, however it failed to install. It then appeared the PC could not even see the monitor although I was able to use old-fashioned VGA with another monitor. (I only have a DVI-to-DVI cable for the 1907.) I was a bit surprised to see no driver listed for OS 8 and the monitor at the HP support site, but then decided to download and apply the OS 7 driver. After doing that, the PC now at least sees the monitor and even seems to think it's part of an extended desktop for the working VGA monitor, but it does not display anything. Also, the Nvidia control panel now sees the monitor and reports it as being 1440 x 900, but it still cannot actually be seen as displaying a desktop.
Might anyone have any idea what's happening? I have updated the Nvidia drivers to the most recent version released only 3 days ago. The bottom line seems to be the 1907 immediately goes to sleep when connected to the PC's GT 620. (And yes, I've read the information here at support which seems to directly address this problem, but without resolution.) Please feel free to ask for more details as I've left out a few things hoping to focus only on what's truly needed for a resolution. TIA.

I have used both the onboard and discrete VGA ports, and can get the old VGA monitor to display via either. I have connected the DVI to the 620's DVI port. In many cases, if I connect both the VGA and the DVI, the VGA vanishes. At other times, and I apologize for not knowing the precise conditions, the VGA continues and that's when it appears the 1907 is being seen as an extended desktop but nothing can be seen on the 1907.
In one scenario, I was able to see only the 1907 listed in the Nvidia control panel and when clicked to select/verify(?) it display on both the VGA monitor and the 1907 vanished--and only through seemingly random hocus pocus of rearranging cables was I able to restore to a state of the VGA being seen but the 1907 again either going to sleep as soon as it was connected via DVI or again being seen as an extension of the VGA's desktop. (Yes, a bit confusing. I'm awfully confused myself after the many connection permuations.)
Right now, the VGA monitor is connected to the onboard VGA and as soon as I connect the 1907 to the 620's DVI, the 1907 immediately goes to sleep and the VGA display turns off. If I then unplug the 1907 DVI cable, the VGA immediately reappears as a single-screen desktop on the VGA monitor. If I leave the 1907 connected via DVI and reconnect the VGA to the onboard graphics, the VGA display returns but the Nvidia control panel states there is nothing connected to the Nvidia GPU and the monitor reports there is no signal input.
At this point I cannot bring up the 1907's OSD, but by turning it off and back on and getting pass OSD lockout, I am able to bring up the 1907 OSD again and it does not go back to sleep. It then appears to remain on (per the on/off LCD and a slight very dark blue onscreen glow), but the OSD then also reports the display information I have in the posting's subject line.

    raven77,
    These external power supplies used with laptops, monitors, HDTVs, AIO computers, etc. typically have an input voltage range of 100v - 240v alternating current. Just the be sure, I went and looked up the specs of the HP Pavilion 27xi 27-inch Diagonal IPS LED Backlit Monitor. This page didn't have the information I was looking for, so I enterd the HP p/n into the HP PartSurfer which indicated that the following HP products also use the same external power supply;
HP 2511x 25 inch Diagonal LCD Monitor
HP 2711x 27 inch Diagonal LCD Monitor
    HP MONITOR 25BW
HP PAVILION 25xi 25-IN IPS MTR US
HP PAVILION 27XI 27-IN IPS MNT US
HP Pavilion 27bw 27-in IPS MNT US
    I then looked up the specs for the HP 2711x 27 inch Diagonal LED Monitor which, according to the HP PartSurfer, uses the same power supply as the HP 27xi and found the following;
Power source - AC/DC adapter Input rating: 100 to 240V~
    Frequency: 50~60Hz
Power consumption: 40 Watts max power consumption (30 Watts typical power consumption) , <1 Watt energy saving mode
Based on this information the external power supply for the HP 27xi should accept 100 to 240v, 50 - 60Hz input and function as expected. You should only need a compatible power cable to connect the power supply to the mains.
    Please send KUDOs

  • Bad photo prints on HP CP5225dn Printer

    Hey all,
Having an issue outputting photos on my new HP Color LaserJet P5225dn printer from Adobe products. Am curious if anyone else might have run across the same issue and possibly found a solution. Here's the background information...
    Running Windows 8.1 Pro.
HP Envy Phoenix w/Intel core i7-4770 CPU @ 3.40 GHz
    32 GB RAM
    2TB Raid 0 HD
    NVIDIA GeForce GT 640
Spyder-profiled HP Pavilion 25xi monitors (dual setup)
Running Adobe Creative Cloud (latest builds--issue present in prior versions, too).
Using HP Universal Print Driver PS (latest version--only option on Windows 8), but have tried PCL 4 and 5 drivers as well.
When printing from Adobe products, any photo seems to print without the yellow color. Color swatches and vector files print correctly. This issue seems to only apply to raster images--greens print blue, browns print purple, oranges print magenta. I have had HP support out to examine hardware of printer and everything checks out.
I have tried every combination of ICC profile, paper setting imaginable. Have tried printing as CMYK and RGB. Have reset preferences in Adobe software. Color issues are present in InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator, and the images print consistently off in all products (is purple in INDD is also purple in PSD, etc.). I have reset printer to defaults. I have tried removing color management and printing. I have tried printer diagnostics. I have tried having the printer manage color. I have tried having the application manage color. Everything prints consistently wrong.
I've updated video drivers, searched for ICC profiles specific to the printer, recalibrated monitors, no dice. Funny thing is that when you take that same file and send it to another printer, it prints accurately.
Any ideas for troubleshooting are much appreciated. Any solutions would be fantastic.
