Pavilion a1000n Front Panel On/Off Button

The front panel on/off button no longer works.  What are the spec requirements for it so I can get a replacement from other sources since HP no longer stocks a replacement.

Lake-Tony, welcome to the forum.
You can try the HP Partsurfer page to see if it is listed.  However, since the computer is over 9 years old, it may not be available from HP.  If not, you may want to try a local computer repair shop to see if they have a third-party part that will work.

  • How to close a front panel using 'one button dialog'?

I wish i could use a 'one button dialog' so that the user can close the front panel when asked.
actually, i do put a 'open vi reference' followed by an 'invoke node' and then by a 'close reference' in a case true false (vi attached)
it seems that i can'ty use the option 'close FP' in my invoke node.
I am using a labview 6i version, is that possible to have this option, otherwise hoe can i achieve muy application without this invoke node??

  • Use front panel as a button

    Hello!
Is there any way i can make the whole front panel working as a button? I want to be able to click with the mouse anywhere on the front panel and it should be registerd as a OK click.
    Best regards blyarn

Here, this should do what you want. It is messy and has no error handling/typedefs etc because I'm doing it while I watch football, so I'm not too concerned about my programming practices . But basically what it does is, the LED turns on and it tells my even handler loop that it is now on, and it stores the time it turned on in a shift register. Now, the event loop knows that any clicks on the front panel should send a queue message with the time of the button click. So, when the user presses the panel it queues up the time of the button press and in the bottom loop that message i dequeued and the subtraction is done. I know this may be a bit overwhelming with the handshaking so post back if you don't udnerstand anything. The reason I do it this way is because if you queue up a message saying the button was clicked and THEN get the time stamp for the button click once the queue message in the bottom loop is received, you could potentially have some time delay if processing is taking a long time. Then it looks like the button click took longer to happen then it really did. Does that make sense? I'm having a hard time writing it out clearly. Hopefully someone can translate this into english

  • LEDs on front panel

Employed my Vista Pavilion for several years without incident until last night when I noticed the top "on/off" button which usually glows a light blue was unlit.   I originally assumed a power glitch, so I just restarted the machine to note the following:
Fans come on and the power supply seems OK, but the system did not boot.   The screen was just black with no characters or image/background.  In fact, the screen's power saving mode soon engaged indicating the video card was not sending a signal.  Never get to the BIOS screens.
Now here is what I think may be significant:  the green LED and blue LED in the front console were on continuously.
Sometimes, hardware manufacturers provide diagnostic information by way of the lights (e.g., washing machines).   In other words, turning on LEDs can provide state information.   Is this true with HP hardware?
Some more clues which tell you what is not the problem.  I happened to have a new power supply handy, so I traded it out with the same results.   In normal operation, the green LED indicates disk activity, so I just removed the disk entirely to see if the green light would go out.   Nope, still on steady.   The blue LED typically implies the WiFi operation but I rather doubt at this pre-boot state the WiFi would be working.
I traced the power button line (two grey wires) to a half-sized board in the rear.  No breaks in the wire or bad connections.
    Any ideas?

Don't understand this reference to a half-height board.
The Front Panel Header (9-pin, 2x5) on the motherboard is where those front panel LEDs and buttons are terminated.
EXAMINE Pictorial in the Internet link to motherboard (above).
HOWEVER, some HP Desktop models have a front LED to show the user of LAN or Wi-Fi connections.
That wire would connect to the network card or motherboard via a different connector.
Some Media PCs of this era (2008) had Infared connections (option) for remote control of TV tuner option card.
LEDs do not last forever (have a long, but finite life) and can fail due to DC over-voltage or surge conditions (environmental, component failure).
In addition, this Desktop PC is now 7 years old .... a long-life for any desktop.
IF the motherboard has failed (component failure, such as capacitors), then replacement may be best advice.

  • Minimise front panel of vi containing timed loop = problem

    Is this expected behaviour...
    Run the attached VI.
All it is supposed to do is beep every 10 cycles.
When you minimise it and try to restore the front panel though... it locks up for a random amount of time.
I don't think it is supposed to do that. (I'm running it on XP Pro.)
Originally I was chasing this problem in a data acquisition loop. The buffer would overflow and exit the app with an error when it was minimised.
It took all day to track it down to this.
Hmmm... I just tried to save it back to a version 8.0 vi and it doesn't seem to have the same error!

I'm using LabVIEW 8.5.1 on two PCs and it does it on both of them.
I just emailed the vi to a colleague and after a few minimise/maximises it locked up on him too.
I've just found that if I remove the left and right data nodes inside the timed loop the bug seems to go away.
    Steps to repeat bug:
    1. Minimise all windows (Windows+m)
    2. Restore vi front panel and run it. (It should start beeping twice a second)
    3. Minimise / Restore it rapidly by repeatedly clicking on the vi's Front Panel 'task bar button' (down the bottom).
After a while the beeping will stop when the front panel is minimised and it wont restore. Then after a while (with or without clicking on the task bar button) the front panel will restore and the missed periods will execute very quickly (as the timed loop does what it is configured to do).
I think because of the simplicity of the example vi the bug doesn't show up as often. When I ran it in the real application (too many vi's to post) it crashed every time. In the real application there isn't much going on in the timed loop, it is just used to queue items into a separate consumer loop. The problem is that when the bug occurs, ALL LABVIEW CODE stops executing, not just the code inside the timed loop. So another vi running in parallel (in a daemon) that retrieves messages from a device queue stops and the device buffer overflows.
Attached is a modified vi to demonstrate that code outside the timed loop stops executing too. The bug occurs here on three different PCs, the only common thing I can think of is LabVIEW 8.5.1.

  • K9N2G Neo Front panel audio not working

I have plugged in various cases and i/o bays into the audio connector on this mb and NONE of them work. Yes I have tried the "disable detection" option with no luck. I am currently trying to use a silverstone fp32 i/o bay that definately supports hd audio but it still doesn't work. I made no wiring mistake as it was a plug and not seperate wires.

What do I have to do to get front panel audio that was promised with this board?
edit: you know I have NEVER had trouble with AC97 yet I have NEVER gotten HD audio to work properly EVER

It doesn't follow AC97. But it is a Realtec chip, and they often run into problems. For example they'd like their drivers installed while in SafeMode.
Where exactly did the problem come up? Is the HD controller enabled, (BIOS)?
Is this relevant, stolen from the Englizsch only manual:
"When you are playing the first audio source (for example: use Windows Media
Player to play DVD/VCD), the output will be played from the rear panel, which is the
    default setting.
Then you must to select the Realtek HD Audio front output from the scroll list
first, and use a different program to play the second audio source (for example: use
Winamp to play MP3 files). You will find that the second audio source (MP3 music) will
come out from the Line-Out audio jack of Front Panel."
Off: Think this is the first time this board come before my eyes in this forum.

  • When the screen saver turns off my front panel does not refresh.

when the screen saver turns off my front panel does not refresh. If I use the show desktop button sometimes I can not maximize my vi by just clicking on it from the start bar.

I utilize both a screen saver and the show desktop feature but have never seen this problem in the past. You might play around with your screen saver settings to see if they have any affect. You might also try another computer just to make sure something larger scale isn't going on. Also, testing with other programs to make sure it isn't a general OS issue is always a good idea. Other possibilities include changing your Video Driver settings, updating your video driver, and uninstalling - reinstalling.

Can any one please help/advise on nsolution if any. My HP Officejet J6410 All-in-One has stopped working.

@mikej1, Welcome to the HP Forums
I understand your Officejet J6410 is not fully powering up, and you have caught the printer showing an error code. I hope to help you with some information, some steps to try and my own suggestions.
What comes to my mind when reading through your issue would be that there could be a power problem with the printer, or the printer itself could have a printhead failure, ink system failure, or a general printer failure. To attempt to work on these issues, I would suggest trying the power related guide first, and then try making a copy from the front of the printer if the power will remain on without an error message or code.
When you are going through these steps, and come to resetting the printer, it's best to make sure the printer is plugged in directly to the wall outlet, avoiding power bars and surge protectors. This ensures the printer is receiving full power.

  • How can I stop and restart a .vi with a single front panel button?

    Hey guys, a newbie here.
I have a .vi with a stacked sequence. The first few frames are hardware initialization and settings (LIN master node) and the data the hardware should transmit (frame response table). In the next frame there's a loop in which the hardware sends and recieves data (LIN monitor). If I want to change the initialization, settings or data values, I have to stop the .vi and restart it. I was wondering if there is a simple way of doing this with a single click (a button on the front panel).
An alternative would be to put another loop outiside the whole stacked sequence and then run it a single time with a push of a button (the inner loop should let the outer one restart), is that possible?
I hope I made any sense. Thanks for any suggestions.

Ideally, redoing the code with a state machine would be the best way to go, if only so that you can add this powerful tool to your toolbox. That being said, wrapping your existing code in a while loop, with its own stop button to stop the program, will work if executing the entire sequence is ok. Where you might run into problems with this is if there is a step in the sequence that shouldn't be executed again, then it would require wrapping that sequence frame's code in a case statement that executes only the first time through. If you have the time, learning how to use a state machine would be a real benefit, really taking your LabVIEW knowledge to the next step, if you pardon the pun.

  • Button to enable all checkboxes on front panel

I have checkbox controls on the front panel to select various functions of my VI.  I would like to have buttons to check ("enable all") and un-check ("disable all") all the checkboxes at once, if desired.  Preferably, I'd like to see the boxes activate (show the checkmark) prior to starting the VI -- like they do when you select them one by one.  I am fairly new to LabView & am using 7.0 Pro.  Any help would be appreciated.

  • How can i print an excel spreadsheet file by clicking a button on the front panel

i have designed a vi that logs data into an excel spreadsheet. i want to take print out of the file when the user clicks a button on the front panel. what to do if there is very large amount of data.

    Preet,
Printing the Excel sheet is just an ActiveX method call to print the worksheet. To add data to the worksheet, you already have the reference, just call a print method. As for handling large amounts of data, that is a vague question. The data will print how ever you placed it on the worksheet. If what you mean is that you don't want to print out 25 pages every time, the print method has options to only print specific pages or ranges. You may want to play around with a sample spreadsheet to learn the printing options. For help on the ActiveX functions, make sure you have the Visual Basic help installed for Excel.

I suggest that you break this up into three seperate questions and re-post to this list. That way you get more ideas from others that may have better insites than myself.
    Re:the sysexec
The Sysexec will allow you to execute a dos command. This is the equivalent of going to
    Start>>>Run
What you should do is find the proper DOS command sysntax that is required to open a text file in notepad or your favorite editor. Once you know what a good DOS command is, you should pass that string to the Sysexec.VI. The Sysexec has an input that allows you to choose if the code waits for the command to complete or if it should just start the program and let it run in the background. Sysexec will open its own window to run the command you speci

  • How do I input data to a table on the front panel and stop the program immediately as button is pressed?

What should I do if I want to display on the front panel in real time the values from Polarizer #, P1, P2 and the last calculated value (P2/P1 * 100) called T% in a table or some graphical representation like that?  What would I have to do?  It could just be Polarizer # and T% if that would be simpler.  I just want to let the user know the values in a list, spreadsheet or table as they go.  One last thing is that I would like to be able to stop the program at any point in time as soon as the stop button is pressed.  As of now, when the button is pressed it goes through the iteration currently in progress and then one afterwards.  I want the program to end as soon as the stop button is pressed no matter what sequence it is.  What can I do to achieve this?  Could you give me an example or modify my program to show me this.

Put a single frame sequence structure around your stop button and then wire from the error cluster going into the error handler to the edge of the sequence structure. Now your code will stop at the end of the current iteration. To see why this works, watch you code execute with execution highlighting turned on and review the section of the manual talking about "Dataflow".

  • How to save the data that a user has written in a table (front panel) by using a "press button"?

    Hi,
I have the following situation. I need to be able to save the data I write in a table (front panel) when desired.
This allows me to modify, add new data, etc in the "Table" when wanted and to SAVE the latest information when wanted.

    Hi,
    Thanks for the feedback. :-)
    Your answered helped.
In this case I need to save the Data into an ARRAY.
Now I have the following issue. I will try to explain:
    Suppose that I have following:
    1. Several GROUPS of Data like this:
        ER-1234
        ER-3245
        ER-4786
        ER-9080
    2. Each GROUP has the following ELEMENTS:
A, Bi, Pb, Sn, Sn, Cr, Ni, Ca, ...., Al
       So it would be like
ER-1234: A, Bi, Pb, Sn, Sn, Cr, Ni, Ca, ...., Al
ER-3245: A, Bi, Pb, Sn, Sn, Cr, Ni, Ca, ...., Al
ER-4786: A, Bi, Pb, Sn, Sn, Cr, Ni, Ca, ...., Al
ER-9080: A, Bi, Pb, Sn, Sn, Cr, Ni, Ca, ...., Al
     3. An each ELEMENT has DATA that I need to save, BUT! that I need to be able to get by specifying the group and the element.
        A:
             2,3   2,4    2, 8,   2,8
             2,2   2,3    2, 7,   2,6
             2,1   2,6    2, 6,   2,7
             2,5   2,4    2, 5,   2,3
How can I save the ELEMENT "A" Data with the label of the GROUP and the ELEMENT so that I can recongnize it when I need to get the DATA again?
    Thanks for the help!
    Best regards,
    Amaloa.
