Pavilion dm1-3000 - AMD Catalyst Suite 12.1

Has anyone tried the new AMD Catalyst Suite 12.1 with this laptop? Does everything work properly?
Cheers!

Since no one seems to have tried it, how about you try and tell us how it goes. I tried it on a different HP notebook and it didn‘t work, but HP said my notebook had a hardware problem and is currently replacing the motherboard.
Good luck.

Alright here comes a detailed description of all the trouble i have borne since I bought this HP machine.
Buying the HP Pavilion dm1 3014au  was a huge mistake. The much hyped AMD E350 processor and the overwhelming capabilities packed in this 11" Notebook.
I got my notebook in April 2011 and was pretty exicted to own it since it claimed to be a trend setter. Alas! It turned out to be a nightmare. There has been issues like overheating of the notebook, HDD failures and that too 4 times.
    1. I got my first HDD crash after 3 months of purchase. Though the trouble seemed unsual as it could happen to anyone. So I called up HP support and within 3-4 days my HDD was replaced.
The problem that i faced was my HDD use to crash a lot and that too randomly. And on reboot it use to say' Hard disk not found'
I tried re installing my Windows 7 os several times but then seemed HDD replacement was the last resort.
    2.  I observe the over heating of the laptop base even when i use it under normal conditions that is without any heavy applications usage and for a little while , around 2 hours.
This time i get my thermal module fan changed.
    3.  One fine day the HDD behaves the same . Again the ' HDD not found' error..  that is '03F0' . It was agonising to see this again. I call up HP support again and then they get my HDD replaced again. Of course the Engineer who visited the site did their end of diagnosis, ran some HDD test from the BIOS. So finally i get another HDD replaced. It happened after almost 1 month from the first HDD replacement.
    4. The HDD crashes again, same 03F0 error. Tried re installing OS. Everything. But alas!. This happened only after a week of the second HDD replacement. The HDD fails to get detected. So agonised and hurt by the poor quality of HP replaced products i was left in an awe. The HDD is replaced for the 3rd Time.
    5. After a couple of months when i finally believed this HDD crash wont happen again, I was proved wrong as it crashed again. Similar issues, 03F0. Boot Device not detected. HDD does not exist. This happened after 3-4 months from the third HDD replacement.  Again I call up HP care and they repalce my HDD.
    6. Only after 2 days i bear the same issue. the HDD crashes again. It does not get detected. This time I even left my machine at the HP care Centre for 3 days so that they can take a holistic check. The Engineer has so far only replaced the 'Connecting cable ' of the HDD. And returned my machine saying it wont crash again.
    7. IT CRASHED AGAIN. THE HDD failed to be detected. It randomly freezes and leaves me with no choice but to have a hard reboot.
I am so troubled, agonized and angry at the kind of service and quality HP maintains. The whole exercise of calling HP care seems futile when they just cannot solve the issues.
Before writing this post, I browsed the other posts too and saw how others too have the similar HDD problems.
BEWARE OF HP machines. I do not rely at them at all now.
Since April 2011, I have had 3 HDD replacements. and its counting.
Tomorrow i should leave my machine to the HP care centre again as they suggested.
Lets See if i can ever get rid of this mess.
Though my machine is still in its warranty period, but i am so tired of repeating the whole thing again and again.
MY Advice: DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON HP Products.

    Greetings,
It sounds like your main board has failed. It may help to reset your BIOS. Reboot your PC. When you see the black HP logo, tap the escape key until you see the boot menu. Press F2 for BIOS. Inside your BIOS, verify that the F9 (or F6) button is to Reset Defaults. Select the appropriate key and confirm yes. Then select F10 to save and exit.
Here is a way to determine if your hardware has failed. Reboot your PC. When you see the black HP logo, tap the escape key until you see the boot menu. Press F10 for diagnostics. Allow this to run and you will be able to see if a device has failed or not.
    Good Luck

  • SDD AHCI Mode HP Pavilion dm1-4027sa

System: HP Pavilion dm1-4027sa (AMD processor)
BIOS v:  Hewlett-Packard F.02, Tue 11/10/2011   (maybe I should update to F3 but all I see is it improves WAN so....)
    Hello to all,
I'm going to purchase a 240GB Corsair Force 3 SSD.
Now we all have seen the option to enable AHCI mode, I won't to do this as with TRIM support etc. *PLEASE DO NOT ANSWER WITH: YOU DON'T NEED AHCI, YOU CAN GO AHEAD*
Problem is, the stupid BIOS is so simplified that there is nothing on there for AHCI mode.
I looked in device manager and it seems it has been set up in RAID, as all I get is: IDE ATA/ATAPI.
Below is device manager showing the controller. Further below is the drivers of the controller:
Unless, the AMD controller supports AHCI I will not purchase my SSD, and forever think why on earth I bought this so called 'entertainment notebook PC'.
Thanks for looking guys and girls,
    Danny

    Hi:
You're not going to need to install the chipset drivers. They are already included in the W7 install disk.
Your chipset is newer than the AMD 8xx chipset as well.
Your product key will work on a W7 install disk, but I was not aware of any HP Home Premium W7 disks that would work. They are usually part of a recovery disk set and won't work without the whole set.
In case yours doesn't work, then just do this...
If you can read the 25 character Microsoft windows 7 product key, you can download plain Windows 7 ISO files to burn to a DVD for the version of windows that came installed on your PC, and that is listed on the Microsoft COA sticker on your PC's case.
Burn the ISO using the Burn ISO option on your DVD burning program and burn at the slowest possible speed your program will allow. This will create a bootable DVD.
Use the 25 character product key on the PC to activate the installation.
The key will activate either a 32 or 64 bit installation.
Then go to the PC's support and driver page to install the drivers you need.
Link to the W7 ISO file downloads is below.

  • Amd catalyst & built-in display driver clash

    Hello,
I have a core i5 HP pavilion dv6 entertainment notebook pc with the following specs:
    Processor: 2.53Ghz
    RAM: 8 Gb
    Operating system: Win 7 x64
AMD Radeon HD 6500M/5600/5700 Series: 1 GB
    System Model: 3141se
I had a recovery partition on my laptop but a while back when I tried to run it, I kept on getting the same error message " your partition is of GPT style or something like that" and I had to wipe the whole drive and tried recovering from the backup DVDs, without any luck.
Having said that, I installed another copy of Win 7 with the original key provided and it was working fine. A couple of days back I installed a fresh copy of windows and now the problem I am facing is something like that:
Built-in intel display and AMD display driver installs, but I dont see anything in adapter section. Which means no graphics card is installed. When ever I install AMD catalyst driver, my windows turn black and stay that way forever (even though windows in running normally).
Whenever I disable built-in display driver from "device manager" it  works fine. But I have had no luck installing AMD catalyst control, I tried literally every version available.
Kindly, help me fix this issue. My Laptop is a crap without the graphics card.
    quick help would be appreciated.
    Thank you

Use the recovery media to install the AMD graphics driver softpaq.
Choose the AMD video graphics softpaq from the list that appears. The following image is an example from a former HP product loan I was provided by HP. What you see will be a bit different since the notebooks are not in the same model range.

  • HP Pavilion Dm1 Memory upgrade: pc3-10600 versus pc3-8500

    Hi,
After researching HP and other various sites, I recently upgraded my HP Pavilion DM1 from 3GB to 4GB RAM using 2 x 2GB PC3-10600 modules. The information I found seemed to indicate that the HP Pavilion would fully support 1333Mhz memory and I thought I could give my Netbook a little performance boost. Note: the price was the same for both the 1066 and 1333 memory modules.
My system is working OK, but I have a number of quick questions:
Although I have installed 1333 Mhz memory, it is been reported as 1066 Mhz via HP tools. Is this the maximum memory speed the Netbook supports and will utilising 1333 Mhz cause performance bottlenecks and long term damage to my system? Can I configure the system via BIOS to utilise the memory at 1333 Mhz?
As I use Windows Home Premium I understand there is a 3.5GB access limit (this is why I only upgraded the system to 4GB). Will the extra 500MB not utilised by Windows be utilised as video memory as I originally hoped or will it come out of the 3.5GB? i.e. in other words, is my 4GB upgrade in reality 3.5GB?
Thank you for your help in advance.
    Kind regards,
    Alex

    Hi, Alex:
I don't know what exact model dm1 you have, but normally the memory runs at the max speed of the Processor's FSB in the case of Intel processors.
I am not quite sure on how AMD's processors work with regard to memory speed. Something about multipliers.
Did you consult the service manual?  Chapter 1 usually provides the processor and memory specs.
No damage will occur to your system if the memory speed is only 1066 MHz.
Nothing can be done to change the speed at which the memory runs (unless there is a BIOS update that addresses an issue--read any BIOS release notes for such a possibility, which I doubt there is).
You can check how your memory is being used in two places:
    1. The Resource Monitor (in your system tools menu). In the memory section it will show system reserved, free, etc.
    2. The Windows Experience Index's detailed report (Control Panel>system and security>WEI
You can see your video adapter's total memory, shared memory and dedicated memory.
    Best regards,
    Paul

Its not the hard drive, its the hard drive controller on the motherboard, the motherboard needs to be replaced. Getting HP to do this might be a challenge.

Just got a new Ipad mini 32 and can't connect to my HP Pavilion DM1 windows 8 via bluetooth. I get to the stage where you have to confirm on both systems the generated code and then it goes in error. Not supported. Any clue ?

Unless you have an iOS app that uses BT for a specific purpose, such as file transfer, BT on the iPad alone, as stated, does not support it.

  • HP Pavilion dm1-4000au Entertainment Notebook PC_Keyboard and Touchpad Suddenly Stops Working

    Hi there,
I have an HP Pavilion dm1-4000au Entertainment Notebook PC (QG411PA) running Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit for more than a couple of years already. During those times up until now, whenever my laptop is on standby for an hour or so, its keyboard and touchpad suddenly stops working, regardless if its running on battery or on AC power.
I always ensure that I have an external mouse in order for me to navigate properly and pull up the on-screen keyboard in order to type once that issue arises.
All appears to be updated in terms of Windows Updates and I even reformatted it, but issue still persists.
Is this particular issue that I am experiencing a harware issue? Perhaps a software issue? Or maybe a defective model itself?
Your prompt response is highly appreciated.

  • HD Replacement for HP Pavilion dm1z-3000 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC

    Hello.
I have a HP Pavilion dm1z-3000 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC , Product Number:   XL303AV
I am having SMART HD monitor failure mensage at startup and the computer is very slow.
I just bought a OCZ Vertex V3 SSD 256mb and i want to create a recovery media but the recovery media creation in my computer is not working.
I did a backup of my files and a complete recovery from the F11 at startup.
The Notebook is runnig good, but the SMART screen reporting failure keeps appearing and windows is poping up HD failure alert.
The recovery media creation keeps not working (32GB USB drive), the formating step do not end never. I already tryied with another USB pendrive and no sucess.
The recovery partition is there. How to create a recovery media for my new SSD HD ?
    Other problem:
I tryied to order the recovery media at HP site but i have a USA buyed notebook and i live in Brazil, and it is impossible to order that for shipping to Brazil (stupid). HP Brazil do not recognize my serial and produt number, sending me to USA site.
My windows 7 is the 64bits Home Premium.
    Help me
    Regards
    Cristiano

    Hi,
If the impending failure alert from the HD SMART is popping up, then creating USB  from the original hard disk at this point is not likely to be successful.
You can try copying the recovery partition to an external drive in order to keep it.  Use the OCZTechnology forum as a source for how to initially setup the SSD drive. I have a Vertex 3 SSD in this particular desktop PC and I love the performance it provides.
What was the size of the original hard disk?
I highly recommend that you use the Porutgese language HP Consumer support forum if you are familiar with the language. There are experts there who are quite likely to be familiar with the problem you are facing with in acquiring the recovery disk set.  I met some of them last March in San Francisco at the HP Social Summit.
All you need to do to access the Portugese language HP Global forum is change the language tab at the upper right where it says English to Portugese.

We need the P/N to verify what board will fit in that laptop and also you can use that P/N from service manual to locate the part on eBay to find a match or call HP support to see what the board would cost.

  • Touchpad irratic behavior that I can no longer control on Pavilion dm1 notebook

I have Pavilion dm1-4210 notebook with Windows 7.  Touchpad is Synaptics PS/2 Port TouchPad.  When I first turn computer on, TouchPad usually works fine for maybe an hour or so. Then, all of a sudden the curser takes on a life of its own and refuses to move around the screen as it should.  If I try to move curser UP OR DOWN, the arrow turns into a small vertical rectangle that will not move.  All the rectangle does is reduce the view properties of the screen (reminds me of what you see when using the middle dial on a mouse).  If I try to move curser to the RIGHT OR LEFT, the curser turns into either a little cross with a vertical and a horizontal double arrow, OR a litte diamond symbol with 4 little boxes in it, yet it will not move around the screen.  Also sometimes cursor jumps to left side of screen on its own.  I cannot get the curser to return to normal, except by banging on the touchpad in frustration, which I know is not a very good repair technique.  Otherwise I have to re-boot for the touchpad/cursor to go back to normal, but that is becoming a real pain.  The other time this happens is often right after I plug in a flash drive or external hard drive.  NOTE:  this problem is ONLY when I am using the TouchPad.  I never have any problems when I am using a wireless mouse, so the problem is specifically with the TouchPad.  When I run internal troubleshooting, or the HP driver check online, every test says the TouchPad is operating normally and the driver is up to date.  But there clearly is something wrong, but beats me what it is.  Any ideas?

    Hi,
First try uninstalling and reinstalling the touchpad drivers...
To uninstall the touchpad go to Control Panel and Add/Remove programs.Select Synaptic Touchpad and click uninstall or remove..Restart the computer and then download the driver from the link below:
    Synaptics TouchPad Driver
You can also refer this link to adjust few settings in the touchpad that may fix.Try diabling the gesture controls and check:
Turning all gestures off and on
    Note:
If you have HP Support Assistant installed on the computer(The Blue Question Mark) then open it ==> Complete all pending Updates & Tuneups==> Restart and Check. It may solve your problem
