Pavilion dm4-2191US Entertainment Notebook malfunctioning HINGE

After hearing a loud noise when opening the lid, I found small broken pieces of black plastic scattered on the floor.
Then a BULGE appeared in the black frame around my screen, above the left hinge.  Now it is hard to close the lid, and there have been several problems with performance.
THREE QUESTIONS:  Is the hinge just for opening and closing, or are there sensitive connections inside the hinge?   Is there a danger of the computer CRASHING?    Can this problem be corrected?

  • HP Pavilion dm4-1265dx Entertainment Notebook PC hinges and frame replacements are needed!

I have this laptop for about two years now and it is already breaking apart. First the hinges from both sides broke. I stopped closing the laptop because the frame started to break. Attached are the pictures taken today. I want to replace the broken parts and I want to know when i can get them from and how much it cost. I thought I was the only one with this problem but when i searched the web it seems to me that a lot of people are experience the same problem with the Hp Pavillion series. I hope HP is aware of the problem and solve it for future products. Thanks and I hope to hear from you soon!!

Wow that looks identical to my Dv6!
    The screen part number is:
613667-001 For use in models equipped with WWAN
    or
608207-001 For use in models not equipped with WWAN
So find out if your computer has WWAN or not. it's one of those product numbers if you wnt to order a new one.
Edit: I don't think the screens include the frames or hinges. It's a flat panel replacement to go inside the frame...

    Hi,
    My suggestion:
Go to this site to download the required driver.
    Totally uninstall the Audio driver.
Install driver from the downloaded file.
Turn off the TV and laptop.
    Connect HDMI cable.
    Turn ON the TV first.
    Turn ON the laptop.
    Regards
ps Many users have to do few tries and it turns ụp

I have a HP Pavilion dm4-2181nr Entertainment Notebook PC and need to get it restored back to windows 7 after upgrade to windows 8.
I have tried the F11 system restore option at boot but it says a boot file is missing, so that is not working.
I am in search of the recovery disk for this system module as i did not create a back up recovery disk before the upgrade.
Does anyone have this and is willing to upload online so i get it, or of there is a way to get this done.
    Looking forward to your assistance.

Please order the discs for your HP Pavilion dm4-2181nr Entertainment Notebook Computer directly from HP online at "Order software and driver media" or by contacting HP Customer Support by phone, email, or chat.

  • HP Pavilion dm4 3050us Entertainment Notebook Fingerprint scanner

Alright, so I just got my HP Pavilion dm4 3050us (Running Windows 7-Home Premium) a few days ago, and ever since I've been trying to figure out this fingerprint scanner. I just CANNOT figure out how to work it, or even open/start/launch it at all. It's like my notebook doesn't even know that it was freaking built into the dang thing. I've opened the biometric devices section of the Hadrware and Sound section of the control pannel, and it comes up saying "Windows did not find any biometric devices on this computer. You might need to attach your device or install device drivers." I also tried opening the device manager and there wasn't even a section specified to biometric devices. I've updated the BIOS to the 2012-02-17, version F.08, 4.75M, and I installed the device driver for the fingerprint scanner that is compatible with my notebook (AuthenTec Fingerprint Sensor Driver, 2011-10-28, Version 3.2.1.10, 6.83M). I just don't get how my notebook can't detect something that is freaking BUILT INTO it . . . I have no clue what else to do.
    Please help!

  • HP Pavilion dm4-2165dx Entertainment Notebook PC - Volume not working.

I got a new laptop last weekend and it was working fine except the simplepass which I got resolved. I have tried to delete it and reboot the laptop, update driver, all that good stuff. Nothing is working.
    I am running on Windows 7 64-bit.

Thanks for the response. Then the issue is as I feared; a potential problem with the actual hardware itself. The computer won't be able to detect something that's broken, to an extent.

  • Can i change graphic settings on a "HP Pavilion dv6-3161eo Entertainment notebook pc"?

    Hi
I have a "HP Pavilion dv6-3161eo Entertainment notebook pc" and I run Windows 7 64-bit. Lately I bought a lot of games, and I was hoping to play them without any problems. I have been able to before, so nothing should get in my way for doing it now. But it seems that my graphic settings keep changing from time to time, since when I play, I get a lot of lagg, both online and offline. Sometimes I can play the games without any lagg, but the most times the games lagg when I play them. The times when I can play without any problems, I can also watch HD movies online, which I can't when i can't play the games without lagg. To make an example, I bought a game called "Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim". When the game starts up, it automatically "Detect your video hardware and set video options accordingly". The most times when I start up the game, it sets the video quality to "low quality", but sometimes it sets the video quality to "high quality". Those times, I can also play the other games without lagg. I am almost sure, it is because my graphic settings on the pc are being changed, but I dont know how, or how to do it manually. So is it possible to solve this problem and/or change the graphic settings manually?

You might have too many things running on the pc, such as browsers, music players, downloaders as you load the game which would explain the erratic behavior of the game checking your available settings.
PS, Skyrim Rocks, as does MW3

  • Sound Issues HP Pavilion dv6-6158nr Entertainment Notebook PC

    Hello,
I have HP Pavilion dv6-6158nr Entertainment Notebook PC with Windows 7 Pro 64-bit OS. Recently I noticed issues with how my volume control works. I am not sure if it's an application issue (Firefox 9/10) or audio drivers. While watching playing an audio file or watching video my default playback device is set to speaker, but as soon as I plugin my headphones both headphones and speakers will go to mute. Some times disabling and re-enabling the device will solve this issue, and other than that I also have to restart Firefox to get the sound back.
Tried installing all the available updates form windows, also reinstalled/update the sound drivers as n admin with no possible fix. Also as shown in picture below, when I try to make a Google call using Firefox I use built-in mike an headphones. During that time headphones icon will be appeared in the window shown below listed as communication device and disable both audio in/out.
Let me know if any further information is required.
    Thanks.

    First uninstall the audio driver:
Click Start and type device in the search field, then select Device Manager. >> Audio, video and game controlar >> right click and uninstall all values under it >> restart >> download and install the following drivers:
    BIOS
    Audio

  • HP Pavilion dm1-4000au Entertainment Notebook PC_Keyboard and Touchpad Suddenly Stops Working

    Hi there,
I have an HP Pavilion dm1-4000au Entertainment Notebook PC (QG411PA) running Windows 7 Ultimate 32-bit for more than a couple of years already. During those times up until now, whenever my laptop is on standby for an hour or so, its keyboard and touchpad suddenly stops working, regardless if its running on battery or on AC power.
I always ensure that I have an external mouse in order for me to navigate properly and pull up the on-screen keyboard in order to type once that issue arises.
All appears to be updated in terms of Windows Updates and I even reformatted it, but issue still persists.
Is this particular issue that I am experiencing a harware issue? Perhaps a software issue? Or maybe a defective model itself?
Your prompt response is highly appreciated.
    Sincerely,
    Led

  • USB 3.0 Upgrade for HP Pavilion dv9700 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC

Is it possible to upgrade my HP Pavilion dv9700 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC to USB 3.0?  I've been searching the website and google and haven't found any concrete answers just yet.  I'd rather not have to buy a new laptop just to get USB 3.0.  It's been the most reliable pc I've ever had and I don't wantn to replace it!
    Thanks,
    Paul

    Hi,
You have to buy a new laptop or swap the system/motherboard or buy an Express card - USB 3 (I've got one) or PC card - USB 3. For desktop , this is much simpler, a PCI - USB 3 card will do.
    Regards.

  • Pavilion dv6-3227cl entertainment notebook powers on but only has a black screen

An HP Pavilion DV6-3227cl Entertainment Notebook, that is approximately 2 years old and is running Windows 7 Home Premium, AMD Vision Premium, will power on but not boot up.  The fan runs and the "caps lock" light flashes once approximately every 4 seconds but all I get is a black screen with no cursor or error messages.  There are no beeps.  The power supply indicator illuminates (white) for about a second, then turns to a dim orange when the battery is installed, but remains white when the battery is removed.  However, the two indicator lights (I'm not sure what they are for) next to the USB port nearest the power indicator light illuminate as follows:  the one on the left (as you are looking at the right side of the notebook) is white; the one on the right is orange.  Both are fully illuminated (not dimly as the power indicator light).  The power indicator light is not as bright as the other white indicator near the USB port.  The notebook has booted up and appeared to be running one time since having this problem started, but I have not been able to get it to boot up again.  I am told the battery is bad (it's my brother in law's notebook), but is it possible the problem is with the power source rather than the processor or motherboard?  I appreciate your comments/advice on this matter.  Thank you.
    This question was solved.

    Hi fejevitzky,
Your question, "Based upon that, I believe you are telling me you do not think it is the BIOS--is that correct?" Yes, as long as you dont see any "white" light reveal from LCD bezel back side while with blank screen state. LCD bezel is the cover around LCD, most design put LED modeule at the bottom side next to LCD. While back light is not on during boot up sequence, that means system doesnt have chance to get BIOS program running. It also means, it stuck at state of hardware bring up. Normally motherboard related.

    Hi,
    Try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
    http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp41501-42000/sp41698.exe
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, download and reinstall the Chipset driver on the link below.
    Chipset Driver - Windows Vista.
When the reinstallation has completed, shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
Let Windows fully load - it will automatically load an audio driver, but just let this complete.  Then open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.
