Pavilion dv2810us - No IDE Device Help

I turned the notebook on and got a BSOD. I tried to boot with recovery disc and got error 0x400110020000100A.  I ran the BIOS diagnostics on the system memory and it passed 100%.  The HDD shows NO IDE DEVICE.  I installed  a new HDD, same specs (using HP part num). After installing the HDD, I tried to boot using recovery disk and got same error. BIOS still shows NO IDE DEVICE.  I reseated the HDD, and tried again. still got same error.  Now What?

Hello Feona,
Welcome to the HP Forums! I hope you enjoy your stay!
I understand the computer cannot detect two hard drives, indicated by the "no IDE detected" message. I will do what I can to assist you! This probably infers that the motherboard has gone bad, if two hard drives are experiencing the same issue. For more information, I would contact HP phone support for hardware assistance. You can utilize this website to learn how to contact HP appropriately, based on your region: Contact HP Worldwide
Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns. Thanks for choosing the HP Forums. Have a great day!

  • Need Help on IDE devices installation

    Hi all....
Consider this... I am an idiot in PC self assemble...(or at least I am newbie... )
I done a DIY 2 times before... but are and kindengarden level.
I just bought a second hand 875P Neo-FIS2R(with RAID) and don't really know how to start with the IDE devices, others parts are OK for me.
    Here what I have
    TDK DVD+/- RW writer
    TDK CDRW Combo
40GB ATA HDD for OS and application installation
80GB ATA HDD for DATA storage
    120GB SATA HDD for Games
I know the simple way of doing it..... install the 2 optical drive in IDE-2 connector, 2 ATA HDD in IDE-1 Connector and SATA into SATA without RAID
But I been told that to optimise both the Optical rewritable... better to put them alone in each of the IDE connector. thats mean 2 IDE used up. And I been told that first IDE HDD should be in First IDE Master. Soo... if this the case, how should I proccee with the installation???
    1. Can 1 of my optical rewritable device install in the IDE3?????  and the other on IDE2
2 or should i buy 1 extra 40GB same brand and model IDE HDD and install with the 1 that I have currently at IDE3 and run on RAID 0 for better performance???? and the ATA 80GB HDD just get a SATA convertor and put it in the SATA connector????
    3. or shloud I have my ATA 80GB HDD throw away and get 1 more SATA 120GB in promise raid run as RAID 0, 2 ATA 40GB in IDE3 run as RAID 0?????
Any possible advise will be welcome... Please help me out... Thanks

    Thanks for the reply
The reason I'm using a second CDRW-Combo is due to the DVD writer that i have is an older version.... which is damn slow when writing to CD-RW media.... CD-R writing speed still acceptable. But I use RW more often.
OK.... I have another question to ask
What if I have two 40GB HDD but in differ brand.... actually... the size are differ as well. 1 Seagate Barracuda 7200.7 40GB Ultra-ATA (model: ST340014A) and 1 IBM Deskstar 41GB ATA-100 (model: IC35L040AVER07). these 2 HDD have a jumper option of forcing it to limit as 32GB. If I use both of this HDD in 32GB mode. can I still enjoy the RAID0 performance like other? or it will downgrade my seagate HDD to the performance like the IBM Deskstar HDD???
1 more question. How many channel(volume) can Promise PDC20378 handle?? 1 or more?? can I have my IDE3 in channel(Volume) 1, and SATA in another???
I tried to fing the info of PDC20378 in the net, even promise website but can't find anything.
And again.... thanks for the help.

  • PLEASE HELP!!! My 'Apple mobile device helper has stopped working'!

Today i bought the new 3G iPhone so i went online to download the new 7.7 iTunes software. Now when i go into my iTunes a Windows pop up appears telling me that my 'Apple mobile device helper has stopped working' and that it is diagnosing the problem. The thing is that it doesn't diagnose the problem, the same box just keeps popping up over and over again.
I am not very computer literate and have tried everything that i can think of but nothing has worked.
Please can someone help because i'm absolutely dying to use my new iPhone; i queued up from 6 am to get my hands on it! :0(

I'm just a simple user. I don't know how to fix it any more than any of the other posters with this problem. I've looked around in control panel, done some poking and prodding with services and processes, and can't find a reasonable way to stop the messages without completely hosing up iTunes. I know the messages are annoying as ****, and nobody likes the idea, but sitting around and doing nothing is sometimes a whole lot better then doing something that makes it worse. See if you can find a document from Apple that tells you how to go back to the previous version of iTunes. I've seen that course of action mentioned several times for previous releases of iTunes upgrades, so the instructions for it must exist in another forum.
I just think, from the number of posts, that Apple is going to have to get a fix out pretty quickly, because this error pretty much shuts down their products on the Windows platform. They can't afford to let it go on for very long.

  • When I conect any ipod ,the itunes show an error msg-The syncServer found a problem and must be closed. After that another-Mobile device helper find a problem and must be closed -and this repeat more 2 times each are  related with corefoundation.dll.

Six error msg about apple aplications that must be closed just when I connect my ipod to computers USB.SyncServer aplication and Mobile device helper is closed. The error relat.show :
    AppName: syncserver.exe     AppVer: 17.641.14.26     ModName: corefoundation.dll
    ModVer: 1.550.54.0     Offset: 00043d08
These happens in both kind of messages that was showing three times each. After this ,Itunes can sinc music videos, photos, but I canot upgrade my ipod!
Detail:copy photo files from ipod to computer works normal.I use panda antivirus but without it in the computer, the problem persists.Yesterday I get the last ITunes, but the problem persists.I unistall anything about apple ,install the new Itunes and the problem remains.
And this problem occurs only after I connect ANY ipod to the computer, open Itunes for hear music, for example, still works OK.

I have been battling against the same issue for over 2 weeks now. After tracing what was happening on the machine to find that the crashes we're happening slightly after Apple's program we're identifying the Time Zone of the computer, I had the idea of checking the date/time properties of my Windows XP machine.
I unchecked the box to update the time from a time server (Internet time) and it's seem that this was what was causing itunes and its descendant to crash.
Now it seems it turned back to normal operation.
Please let me know if this fixes it for you as well.

  • I'm trying to update my 2nd gen iPod touch to ios 4.2.1 and cannot find it in the itunes store. Any ideas or help?

I'm trying to update my 2nd generation ipod touch to ios 4.2.1 so I can get some games and stuff for my daughter. I saw on apple suppport that it was available in the itunes store, but cannot find it. Any ideas or help?

Update it from iTunes on a computer as described at the bottom of this article; devices running an iOS version prior to 5.0 can't be updated straight from the device.

I tried that but it didn't work. I have also done a stop-N which is either the same thing or similar and that doesn't work.
Since I didn't get any of the original documentation for the machine, can someone tell me if there is some sort of driver disk such as a boot floppy or a cd that will reload the flash?
    Thanks

  • More than 4 IDE devices using the Raid controller on the MSI-6567 645E Max2-LRU ?

Here is the specs page of the board
    http://www.msi.com.tw/program/products/mainboard/mbd/pro_mbd_detail.php?UID=79
I have a HD and a CD-ROM drive on the first IDE controller, and an HD and a CD-writer on he second IDE controller
Since the specs say the board only supports 4 IDE devices I was wondering-
    1) Can I connect another HD to one of the onboard Raid controllers, and work with it in addition to all the other IDE devices currently plugged in, without RAID?
    i.e. CD-writer, CD-ROM, and 3 HD's working together ?
    2) Can I connect 2 more HD's, one to each onboard RAID controller and have them work in raid in addition to all existing IDE deviced?
    i.e. CD-writer, CD-ROM, 2 HD's and 2 more HD's in RAID format working together ?
    Thanks in advance..

But like I said, I do not intend to connect CD-ROMS to the RAID controllers, only HD's - the CD-ROM and CD-Writer are currently connected to the normal IDE controllers and I don't plan on changing that in any case
My question was whether or not i can add more HD's to my current system by adding them to the RAID IDE's
simply put, to be 100% clear my question is this -
    will the current configuration work:
    IDE 1 = CD-ROM + HD1
    IDE2 = CD-WRITER + HD2
    RAID IDE1 = HD3
    and will this one work:
    IDE 1 = CD-ROM + HD1
    IDE2 = CD-WRITER + HD2
    RAID IDE1 = HD3
    RAID IDE2 = HD4
when HD3&4 work in RAID mode
    Thanks again for you help
RE your suggestion - why not put a CD-ROM and an HD on the same IDE ? that way my HD's are connected to different IDE controllers for better performance

  • Compaq CQ60 - No IDE Device

Hi all, just looking for a bit of help with my CQ60, but please bare with me as I'm not very good with computers!
So turned my laptop on, but it doesn't reach the windows log-in screen, all i see is the initial 'Compaq' welcome screen, (with options to press F1/F10 etc, then I just get a screen that is all black other than a blinking cursor (almost like a command prompt) in the top left corner.
I pressed F10, and after a few steps it showed that the system/video BIOS is shadowed, and there is no IDE device detected.
I've made no changes to my laptop prior to this, and am completely at my wit's end.
I'm extremely reluctant to restore the factory settings, as I have important documents that aren't backed up. A friend of mine suggested I remove the hard drive, then put it back in. Is this the right course of action?
    Thanks!

    Hi,
I would follow your friends advice and remove then re-seat the HDD to see if this solves the issue.  Post back with how it goes.
    Best wishes,

  • No IDE device found- dv 6700

    Hi everyone,
I am using HP Pavillion dv6- 6700 with windows vista installed. Yesterday, when i was working on my laptop it just got hanged and i switched it off by pressing power button.
When i started it again, it just stuck on Microsoft Windows screen and when i restarted it goes to windows recovery manager. I tried to recover but it gives error, every option in recover manager gives error and when i checked in BIOS the hard drive test shows "NO IDE device". I have a lot of valuable data in hard drive.
    Please help me friends.

    Hi,
Considering that it is an IDE hard disk, that makes it an older hard disk. they are not common any more.
I would consider put the drive in an  appropriate external  hard disk enclosure to see if it is accessible via another PC.
Find out which brand the hard disk is. Most hard drive manufacturers have free utilities that will provide a status of a hard disk. Create the  brand appropriate standalone utilty disk and boot to it. That shouldlet you know where you stand on your chances of recovering any data by yourself without resorting to the costly data recovery companies  that are available..
    Best regards,
    erico

  • IDE Device connection problems

Can anybody tell me why I can't connect more than 2 devices on my MS-6378 board?  I have absolutely no idea why, but the secondary port doesn't seem to even be usable.  Please, if it's a bios problem, somebody let me know - I'm pretty knew at this, so if you need more explanation of the problem then feel free to e-mail me at [email protected]  Thanks!

Alright, first off, I need to clarify my question.  What I ment to write was as follows:  I have an ms-6380 (not a 6378) motherboard that I am having a problem with.  What I CAN do is hook up two IDE devices to one of the two main ports I have, but for some reason when I try and hook up 4 devices (such as two hard drives on one port and two cd-rom drives on another) then it won't even recognize that the cd-rom drives are there.  However, it will recognize one of the hard drives if I install just one of them.  Also, this particular motherboard came with two other IDE ports - something I've really never seen before in a motherboard (but then again, I'm new at this).  What I CAN do is hook up a hard drive to one, but I can't seem to get the computer to recognize another hard drive if I hook one up to the other port, or even worse, I can't get the computer to recognize BOTH hard drives if I hook them up on the same cable.  This doesn't make sense to me at all.  I've done a little research, and I've discovered that you can only hook up 4 IDE devices on any computer....but if that's true then why would this motherboard have 4 IDE ports, with the capability then to hook up a potential of 8 IDE devices????  Even better, why can't I hook up 4 devices using the 2 normal IDE ports that are pretty much standard in any motherboard (sorry if these 'ports' have a name - I don't know very much terminalogy yet)?
Anyways, here are the specs from what I understand: I have the motherboard hooked up to an Antec 380 watts power supply.  From what it reads on the supply, it can send out 35 amps with 5 volts, 18 with 12 volts, 28 with 3.3 volts, .5 with -5 volts, 1 amp with -12 volts, and 2 amps with 5 volts.
The system has a linksys ethernet card installed into it, along with a simple 8 meg video card I had from a previous computer (AGP).  I have 256 megs of ddr ram, and 3 hard drives installed (primary=20 gigs, primary slave = 10 gigs, and the third has 8 gigs).  I have a standard 3.5 floppy drive installed, and also a 4 by 4 by 24 cd-rom drive installed.
I have it hooked up as follows:  Two hard drives are installed on one of the two normal IDE ports.  I have a cd-rom drive installed on the other one, and a 3.5 floppy drive installed as well.  Because I have two other slots for more hard drives, I have a third hard drive installed on one of the other IDE ports, but no matter what (even if I take away a IDE device, like the back-up hard drive or the cd-rom drive) the computer won't recognize that another hard drive exists if I try and install another one.
Lastly, I have windows XP installed if it matters.
Well anyways, essentially I have two problems, with both pertaining to the IDE ports on my motherboard.  One, I can't seem to get the IDE port that my cd-rom drive is installed on to recognize either the cd-rom drive or anything else I connect to it when I try and install two devices with the same cable.  Also, on the two spare IDE ports on my computer I can't seem to get any use out of the second port.  This problem only seems to occur though when I have one hard drive installed at a time - in other words, both slots (if I remember right) will recognize a single hard drive, but if I have a slot connected to a drive then nothing I do will seem to get the computer to recognize another one on the other slot.
If you can help me out I'd appreciate it ALOT!!!  -Again, if you need more information just let me know by replying to this post of e-mailing me at [email protected] .
    Thanks!

  • K8N Neo Platinum - Hangs On "Detecting IDE Devices" at POST

My K8N Neo Platinum motherboard died about a month ago.  Not having the time or the patience to RMA it, I bought a new one.
I got the new system all setup.  The BIOS version on the Motherboard is 1.4
I have a 200gb SATA (NO RAID) HD setup as my boot device, and I also 120gb EIDE setup as a secondary HD.
With my Previous MB, everything worked fine.  I had the SATA drive on SATA1, and the IDE as the Master on the 1st IDE Chain.  I also have a DVD Drive and a DVD Burner on the 2nd IDE chain.  When I set the system up like this this time, the system just hangs at Detecting IDE Devices.  It will never boot into Windows.  If I unhook the SATA drive, it detects the IDE drive no problem and tries to boot to it, although it doesn't have windows, so it will not boot.  If I unhook the IDE drive, the SATA drive boots.  That is what I have been doing for the past two weeks, but I would like to access my 2nd Hard drive.
    Any Ideas would be helpful.
    Thanks!

another thing is never have any other drives in your set up when loading xp to raid
or it writes the mbr to the ide drive not the sata
    hence
it detects the IDE drive no problem and tries to boot to it
you have put the sata raid drive first in bios boot order ?

I upgrades my iPAD  3 to iOS6 and now I can't open my Safari RSS bookmarks.  Any ideas to help?

I've installed 3 different RSS readers and none of them "grab" the default flag for RSS feeds.
I've also uninstalled the Podcasts.app, then re-installed a couple of the readers and Safari still has no idea what to do with them.
What's most annoying is that Safari declares it doesn't know what to do with a feed and offers to load the iTunes Store so I can pick an RSS Reader to install, and then the iTunes app declares it can't connect to the store (even when I'm already on the store or downloading an application at the time).
And yeah, I've tried the fixes for the cannot connect errors (Date/Time flip, reinstall bought app, setting DNS to Google even though it was already fine, and clearing Safari's cache just in case).
    This is absolutely pathetic.
