  • Laptop screen has a light white square with an orange dot.

I just installed a new screen to replace a cracked one.  When the systems first turns on and powers down a faint 2"x2" white square with a 1/4" orange dot appears.  It's most visible with the lights off.  This has happened with 2 replacement screens and am now wondering if the problem is within the laptop itself.  I've added a screenshot of it with  a circle around the orange dot.  Any thoughts would be much appreciated.

    Hi
    Do a hard reset first
Try downloading & Installing the updated BIOS and graphics drivers from your HP product site to rule out software display problems.

  • Pavilion dv5-1000us memory upgrade

    I have an HP Pavilion dv5-1000us Windows 7 (product # FE850UA#ABA)
notebook installed with 4GB memory (2
    X 2GB memory modules). I recently
    upgraded to 8GB (2 X 4GB) but after
    installation the notebook failed to
start up (failed to read disk).
Each of the 4GB memory modules works
    fine when installed individually in
either of the memory slots. I can
    operate the notebook with 6GB (1 X 4GB +
    1 X 2GB modules).
    Would you please advise me.

The memory you are using are from same manufacturer?
Please take a look at the link below for the memory installation topic

If possible, make sure all memory modules in your configuration are from the
same manufacturer and have the same part number.

  • HT1553 my laptop screen has gone blank, probably graphic card problem. i want to back it up. please help

my laptop screen has gone blank probably due to graphic card problem.i need to back up my content as i have bought a new mac and do not intend on repairing the old one. please help

    Try a Target disk:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4889
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1661
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4413
If you are buying a new mac, Apple will do the migration for you, I would let them do it.
If you have an external monitor, I would try to do a data backup before doing anything.
Could also be your drive has already failed, or logic card.  Again I would take it the  Apple store, and have them deal with it since you bought a new Mac, they would do this for free, and the shoulder the responsibility.
    Hoe this helps.

    Hi,
My Mac book pro screen has a constant white mark on it, i have no idea why, its like its inside the screen, its never been dropped or had anything fall on it and the mark is starting to get bigger. Has anyone else had the same problem? i've inserted a pic of it, hopefully you can make it out.
    Thank You

I see a multitude of white marks on your display.  Your best option is to make an appointment at an Apple store genius bar and have the technicians examine the MBP.  Hardware problems such as this cannot be solved via these forums.

  • HP Pavilion g6-2023TX Laptop screen failure

    Hello
    My first post
    I have a HP Pavilion g6-2023TX Laptop, Product B3J25PA#AKL
The Laptop is only 18 months old and I think the LCD screen has failed., I was really dissapointed as I took really good care of the Laptop and bought HP thinking the Laptop was robust.
On starting the LCD screen remains blank.
I have the VGA outpot connected to the television and the Laptop works OK.
I have tried looking through forums, hard reset, etc all to no avail.
I presume the screen has failed, am I right?
I am on a limited budget and would like to repair myself, is this feasable?
In order to replace the screen I need some information.
Is the screen LED backlight type or CCFL backlight type?
A screen part number would be great if anyone knows?
Any help you can give me appreciated
    Thanks in advance.

    Hey @thaichris ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I see the display on your notebook is no longer working.
I agree that replacing the display is your best bet. It's pretty easy to do and will save you a good amount of cash.
The part you're looking for is the display panel and it's part number is 681817-001. You should be able to order this on the HP Part Surfer website but you may find it cheaper on something like Amazon or eBay by simply searching the part number.
You can see a detailed guide on replacing this part here: HP Pavilion g6 Notebook PC - Maintenance and Service Guide starting on page 57.
Hopefully this is what you're looking for.

  • Pavilion dv6-2044ca laptop screen won't turn on, unresponsive

Hi, I have an HP Pavilion dv6-2044ca laptop that was purchased in late 2009, running windows 7. It was working normally the other night when I went to get a drink, and when I came back the screen was off. I couldn't get the screen to turn back on by moving my mouse, so I shut the computer down and restarted it. When I started it back up, it sounded normal, but the screen continued to not turn on. I tried taking out the battery and holding the power button for the power reset method referenced often on these forums, to no avail. I hooked it up to an external monitor but nothing showed up. When turned on, the caps lock and num lock lights won't turn on, however the light indicating it's plugged in, the lights for sound and wifi, and the light indicating the mousepad is turned on all light up. I have made no changes to the hardware or software in weeks. I'm at a loss as to problem solving methods at this point, and would greatly appreciate a more experienced opinion on the matter!
    Kevin

Try a hard reset. Remove battery and AC power. Hold down power button 30 seconds. Now put AC power to it and try to fire it up. It is a 100 to 1 longshot but worth trying. If that does not work it ain't sounding good. Maybe try removing and reseating the RAM sticks, but other than that a new motherboard might be the only fix.

  • Phone screen has too much white on it.

I've had my blackberry torch for almost two years now and I've either had to have it replaced or get it repaired about 7 times now. Now, the issue it that the screen has white lines going down it. They begun only ONE WEEK after I had gotten my phone back from repair after having the whole screen gone white, making it unuseable. But then white lines begun coming up on the right hand side, but as I need my phone for work, I couldn't deal with having my phone in repair for another week, but now it's gotten really bad and takes up about 70% of the screen. So I was wondering if there was anything I could do to fix it? My contract runs out in about a month so I'm not bothering with repairing it, I just want something I can actually use for emails etc until then....
    Thanks!

    Hello,
What you describe sounds like hardware, for which no amount of internet-distance diagnostics nor OS/software level "fixes" can be of any use.

  • Pavilion Dv5-1009el - Black screen and blink caps lock and block scorr

    Hi,
I just replaced the motherboard of my pavilion that reported an error as object. The purchased motherboard is new and hp original.
After having changed, I turn on the pc and work fine, i see the hp logo and enter to bios, after I turned off the pc without starting windows.
I inserted the battery and powered on the pc and returns to the old error, the LED of caps lock and block Lock blinks...
So I tried to update the bios from USB using winkey + B. The computer emits two beeps but does not read from any USB port and the LEDs go out for a while and then blink again.
    What can I do?
    Greetings,
    Enzo.

    Hi @shmurray,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand you are getting a blink pattern on the Caps lock LED, when you turn on the notebook. I am happy to help you with this.
I am including the page on the error codes for your reference: Blank Screen LED Error Codes
From that document the pattern you are getting indicates a memory problem. You said that you have tested the memory. What exactly did you try?
The document suggests reseating the RAM or trying a new set of RAM and then restarting the notebook. If you are still getting a memory problem after trying both of those things, ie a 3 blink code again, then it would likely suggest that there is a problem with the motherboard itself, either with the memory slot or one of the controllers related to memory.
In that case I would suggest contacting the technical phone support number at 800-474-6836. If you live outside the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region.

If however reseating the memory or replacing it leads to a different error code or message please let me know, Although in that case the following may be helpful if you still have a blank screen.
