Pavilion dv6-1334us wireless card upgrade

Hello  I have scan the internet and was having difficulty on finding some information.  I am upgrading my wireless b/g mini pci card from the computer to an "n" card and wanted to know which type would be compatable with the dv6-1334us labtop.  I have tried a diffrent one and when i boot it up tell me that the card isn't compatable with the labtop.  When i place it in the extra pci mini slot it works fine.  but the antenna wires are way to short to reach there.  is there a way in the bios to make it compatable?  If not please let me know whicj make and models are?
Thanks
Roger

Well for this unit they have 3 different wifi cards that could work. The best place for you to look for parts that will work for your laptop is http://partsurfer.hp.com. Its best if you put the part number that is listed next to your serial number it will be some like NB199UA.

My dv7 quad came with the intel centrino wireless n 1030. I tried to update it to the intel n 6235 and it wont boot up and tells me this module is not compatible. i have a picture and will try to upload. 1. iam looking for a wireless card that is dual band and 300mbps. if anyone can help my find this that will work that would be great.

I clicked the link you provided regarding the Bios. I already have the version (F.29) installed. I do not want to use an external dongle as that essentially brings the functionality and convenience of using my laptop back 10 years. Sorta like adding an external floppy drives to computers in the old days, or the God forsaken Ipads nowadays.  Taking a step backwards to say the least. In regards to the Broadcomm 4322, which particular part number are you referring to? A quick search reveals this is old technology that rarely works with Windows 7 and is replete with problems. Most people only get it to work with Windows XP, and only marginal at best. A search within HP own forums brings up similar comments. It seems users of Pavilion DV7's and DV6's are locked out of new technology even though our computers are only a couple of years old. Not something I was aware of, or expected when I purchased two top end HP Laptops at the time. Thanks for your replies, but it seems I'm still in the same boat as everyone else with these products. Surely there has to be a way for HP to allow their customers to upgrade to new technology? I can't believe HP deliberately relegated a large swath of their products to planned obsolescence? As I said before, this is a specific widespread problem as described in Amazon product reviews, HP forums, a a multitude of other technical help sites. I'm a big spender when it comes to computers, as many people are. This doesn't help your cause. Regards...

    Hi,
No, you can't, the "Intel HD Graphics 3000" is soldered to the otherboard. Actually we can't change video card on nearly all laptops.

  • HP Pavilion dv6 1334us won't start after windows update, stuck in Error Recovery

My computer is an HP Pavilion dv6 1334us with 32bit-windows 7. The computer did automatic updates and when it started up said there was another one avaliable through WIndows Updater. I installed the update and it said the computer needed to restart for the update to take effect. I choose to restart and the computer wouldn't boot back up, it boots to the 'Windows Error Recovery' screen where my options are 'Launch Startup Repair (recommended)' and 'Start Windows Normally'. When I select the repair, it says it loads windows files, then goes back to the error recovery screen. When I choose to start normally, it freezes the second it trys to start, flashes a blue screen and then returns to the Error Recovery page again.

  • My HP Pavilion dv6-6c13nr Wireless Driver Will Not Install

As said, my laptop's model number is dv6-6c13nr. My laptop's Windows 7 was FUBAR from a computer virus that my sister managed to get on it somehow. I said to hell with it and just DBANed the entire hard drive and did a clean install of Windows 7. Everything was able install just fine except for the wireless adapter/driver.
I tried both the Broadcom Wireless LAN Driver and the Ralink 802.11 b/g/n WiFi Adapter linked in my PC model's driver page. On both of them, whenever I click on the downloaded file, nothing happens after the file unpacks, no installers run. I've tried running it regularly and running it as an administrator, I've also tried running the installers directly from where they were unpacked into the C drive, regularly and as an administrator.
All of the other drivers and software on my PC model's driver page installed just fine aside from the wireless, it's the only thing, and the most important thing, that I can't seem to get to work. The version of Windows 7 that shipped with the PC was Windows 7 Home Premium, the version that I have and that I installed is Windows 7 Ultimate. Are the drivers not Ultimate compatible?
I've also considered installing earlier versions of the drivers, but I can't find legacy versions anywhere that doesn't look sketchy. I would really appreciate some help with this.

  • Wireless card upgrade

    Hi,
I would like to upgrade the old Intel WiFi Link 5100 wireless card in my DV7-2185dx to a new wireless AC card. Would the AC card be compatible? If so, which card would be recommended? I have an AC router and a USB adapter that works great, I just would like to have something internal. Maybe even a combo card with bluetooth to free up one of my USB ports.
    Thanks

These laptop still have the whitelist in the BIOS. You can't use anything else except cards from the list of compatible components in the Service Guide for your laptop.

  • Wireless Card Upgrade Help!

    Hello,
First post so be gentle with me! I need some help upgrading my wireless card on my Compaq nx6310 laptop. I have the original card in there since new and I now have a much faster fibre connection with a Hauwei HG533 wireless router so I understand if I upgrade the wireless card to an all singing all dancing 802.11 b/g/n one I can connect at a faster speed. I´m running XP Home SP3. I understand the card must be a genuine HP product or on the bios whitelist but I don´t know if one is available for my kit and where I can get one. I want the best available. I have attached some pics. of the existing one.
Thank you in advance for any help......

Since your interest is in upgrading to an802.11b\g\n wireless adapter  then you simplest solution is to purchase a  Type I, or Type II , or Type III  Cardbus wireless card.  You may have to look for that type of card in the preowned market.
The card plugs into the slot(s) on the left-hand of your notebook.
There are no internal network adapter currently made that will fit your notebook.
Your notebook is of a notebook generation when only 802.11 a\b\g existed and that  is what makes cardbus adapters your best option.
    Best regards,

  • Satellite P75-A7200 Wireless Card Upgrade

    Hello,
I was wondering if anyone has upgraded their Wireless Card in their Satellite P75-A7200. Until I got it home, I didn't realize that it was only a single band card and doesn't support 5ghz wireless N which is all I run my network on at home for bandwidth purposes since my neighborhood is flooded with 2.4 ghz users. It appears its a simple swap to change, but I need to know if if the Antennas support 5ghz.
    According to Intel's Docs:
"Before installing Intel® wireless adapters supporting IEEE* 802.11a, verify with the laptop manufacturer that the laptop includes a 5GHz (802.11a) capable antenna..."
I was going to switch it out with a Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 or Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6235 Wi-Fi plus Bluetooth
I'm just not sure about the midle antenna port that the 6300 has since the P75-A7200 only has 2 wireless
Attached is what adapter I currently have installed. (Intel Centrino Wireless-N 2230)
Any help is appreciated. I am a very technical person, so I'm not a noob at this. Thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I was finally able to extract the screw very gently with a power drill and #1 screw extractor. I then installed the new card in under 15 seconds. Booted right up and I had 5gz connectivity with upwards pf 160mbps (and I'm not even close to the router). No need to update any drivers. Definitly worth the $30 investment. Thanks to priuscat for providing the information on what card to get.
Attached is exactly how the new card looks from Amazon

  • 450 g2 Wireless Card upgrade and antennas

    Hello,
I just ordered a ProBook 450 G2, model # L8D98UT.  It comes with the Intel 3160 AC Wireless card.  I'd like to upgrade this to the 7260 AC Card.  Is this possible, and does this specific model come with the 2 antenanas required for the 7260 Wireless AC Card?  I was unable to tell from the specifications if 1 or 2 antennas are in the display bezel.
    Thanks

    Hi:
    That shouldn't be a problem.
If you look at the service manual, it shows 2 antennas on the procedure for removing and replacing the WLAN card.

  • Satellite P10-804 wireless card upgrade

    Hi,
Ive been trying to find a list of compatible wireless cards to upgrade my Satellite P10-804 but can't find any.
The the current wireless card is a Toshiba PA3171U-1MPC but it doesnt do the 802.11G standard and no WPA security.
Anyone know of what are good replacement cards that will work on my laptop?
Ive come across this one but Im not sure if it is compatible or not as I can't find any compatibility info for it: PA3416U-1MPC
    Thanks,
    Mark

    Hi
I think the PA3416U-1MPC should be compatible.
I mean the notebook supports the miniPCI Wlan card and the PA3416U-1MPC is a miniPCI Wlan card.
The WLan antenna behind the notebooks screen should be connected to the connectors placed on miniPCI WLan card.
The two connectors are marked with MAIN and AUX. Normally a white cable goes to the MAIN and a black to the AUX

  • Compaq CQ61 Wireless Card Upgrade

I have a Compaq Presario CQ61-416SA, running 64bit Windows 7. The current wireless card only works on 2.4Ghz band and I want to upgrade it to a dual-band one to get better speed etc at 5Ghz. I have a replacement Intel Centrino N6230 card, but the laptop will not accept anything other than the default card. On startup it halts with an error message saying that it will not continue unless the 'unauthorised device' is removed. If I re-install the original wireless card, it starts up and works fine, but that's not the point, I want to upgrade it.
I assume that the default is to lock down part of the BIOS  in the laptop to prevent unauthorised tampering with in-warranty laptops, but mine is well outside the warranty.
I know the card works because I installed it in my previous laptop and I've been in electronics for around 30 years and have spent some 5 years of that repairing laptops, desktops, servers, etc so I'm pretty sure I'm capable of plugging a card in and installing the driver!
Does anyone out there know a way around the block? Without it I'm not going to be able to upgrade the laptop.
    Anyone?

Don't completely blame HP, but it is kind of a 1984 thing involving your Federal Government. HP and Lenovo read some Federal Communication Comm regs on registering wireless radios (including laptop wifi cards) to require that alternate cards be blocked. Other laptop makers did not agree and now the "whitelist" is history but there is no effort to go back and do new BIOS for older units.
HP versions of the wireless card have some specific identification in the firmware which the HP whitelist looks for before clearing the card for use so you have to use the HP version. I looked pretty hard for an HP version of the card and the one I linked is all I could find. Google around and you may do better.

  • Z60t - wireless card upgrade

This is very frustrating. I need to upgrade this old and reliable work horse to Wireless-N. Bought TWO cards, mini-PCI-e Wifi-N 150 mbps however the laptop doesn't seem to just accept it - either one. Is it some sort of IBM thing preventing 3rd. party Wireless cards? I am in XP SP2 with max memory.  (Kindly don't suggest me to use g instead of N as the place I am in, transmitting exclusively in N only).
2nd. problem: I used the IBM provided demos, document but somehow my Trackpad just doesn't accept any taps! The UltraNav wizard shows everything is fine, enabled, etc. The right-left buttons also does not work - up or the down ones. Track pad works, i.e. the pointer moves, etc. but clicks just doesn't work!
3rd. : Is it possible for me to swap out the HDD and replace with SSD? Realizing what's happening with my WiFi upgrade, I am hesitant to spend money and attempt upgrading...
    Kindly help.

3rd. question is answered, thanks to this forum. SATA III is backward compatible and I have a 120 Gb SSD drive already available...
Right now, trying to resurrect this venerable laptop but the mouse keys (as in the keyboard), taps and bottom-most keys of the touch pad doesn't work. Somehow, the in-built wireless also doesn't work....

  • Pavilion g6 compatible wireless cards

    Hi,
I bought a pvilion g6 and to my dismay found that it cannot connect to my router running in 5ghz mode.
Rather than buy an adapter i am looking to replace the wireless card for one that will do what i want, so my question would be what is a suitable card that will be compatible with this laptop?

Still searching...found this old HP forum post. This is not going to be easy...
    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Wireless-Internet-and-home/Supported-dual-band-cards-on-G62-373DX/td-p/...
The way I read this post is yes the 5100 is a dual band card but the part number is for the Centrino 1000, not a dual band card as I stated intially.
Now, I was remembering that my notebook (6930p) can come with that card and sure enough, there is a different part number for it
Intel Wi-Fi Link 5100 802.11a/b/g/n WLAN module for use in all countries and regions 480985-001.
The question is...will it work in your notebook? It should, but I can't guarantee it.
If you are willing to gamble a few quid, you can get used but working ones cheap on eBay UK

  • Pavilion g6-1d18dx Wireless card replacement?

Are the ones listed in the manual the only options for a replacement or are there other compatible cards out there. Specifically, would a better card from a brand on the list work?
