Pavilion dv6 2190us esata/usb port and Dual HDD Dock

When I connect a dual HDD dock (BlacX Duet) to the esata/usb port only one drive is recognized. Can this esata/usb port support dual sata drives? How do I make it work?

I have the exact same question with my DV6T I bought Nov 2009. Did you ever get an answer? I want to buy a dock that supports 2 sata drives and connects via 1 eSata cable to the laptop. But before investing need to know if the eSata port is multi port aware as the docks require the laptop chipset be able to support. I emailed HP help desk without success so far. Any info is appreciated...thanks.

Hp pavilion dv6 disables all usb ports when put to sleep mode. hibernate will enable them again.

Im using an HP pavilion dv6 - 6b56el with Windows 7 Home Premium.
First install on 15-DEC-2011
When I put the PC to sleep it will disable all USB ports.
When I restart the box or put it to hibernate (and wake it again) the USB ports wil work again.
This happens when running on battery or connected to a power supply.
As far as I can see I checked all power settings that could possibly disable the USB ports.
I think the latest changes to the system made before this happens were automatic windows updates on 18-DEC-2011 and 19-DEC-2011.

There are some computers on the market which have special USB port(s) stay awake during the computer in sleep mode. In your case, you can change this using Device Manager under power management tab (un-tick "Allow the Computer to turn off this device to save power").

USB ports and memory card slots not working

My Pavilion a6120n desktop has worked brilliantly ever since I purchased it. As of last week the 2 usb ports in the front and the 2 unused usb ports in the back have stopped working. My printer is plugged into one rear port and my wireless mouse is plugged into a second rear port and these work fine. I generally use a memory stick for data swapping or the card reader slots (which have also stopped working). I no longer see the memory card icons in the "Computer" window. When installing something new the "New Hardware Found" statement pops up but the driver install always fails. I think it is a software issue but there are no usb drivers to download on the HP/support site that I can find. . . so . . . Below is what I have tried so far.Run antivirus software. Full scan & memory scan - no issuesRun malewarebytes full scan - no issues I have tried restarting several times with no success. Restore to several previous restore points = failedRestarting computer in repair mode = failedRun the repair disk that I had made = failedChecked the power management for each usb port to see if the power was routed properly = okRemoved the case cover and carefully inspected the wiring and connectors.finally I tried uninstalling the usb drivers = failed Upon restarting the computer the last time the startup file must have failed and after several hours of attempting a repair I had to reinstall the Window 7 completely. Esata/usb port

On my Protege R600-ST520W the eSATA/USB port works doesn't work all the time, I want to see if this is a software issue, is there some power setting or some aspect of XP that would not allow interfere with the eSATA/USB port?

It's a skewed view. people rarely post when their system is working right.
The odds are it does not support port multiplying, you will need to get an express card adaptor that supports that. I have one on my laptop and have a four drive esata bay attached to it with no issues. I did notice on mine that when clean installing windows you want to disconnect the external drives, or they will be seen as the first drives by windows setup, and it will want to put boot files on them.

However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components

I have hp laptop dv9009us one day all the USB ports and webcam camera stopped working, I had windows XP and tried all solutions posted on online forums didn’t work, I upgraded to windows 7 and still not working, please note that the USB is detected in device manger and it says working properly but he webcam is not detected at all, also when I connect any device to USB it gives it power and I even can charge my cell phone but it doesn’t detect any device. Is there any genius out there that can help me?

Did you ever get this resolved? I am having the same problem and have tried just about everything for my dv9000.

So I stuck a key into one of the USB ports and then a message came up and it crashed straight away and now it won't turn back on.(the message was to do with the USB port taking to much power when there wasn't anything besides the key) help?

Reset the SMC first. If this doesn't work, reset PRAM. Move down troubleshoot with links below. First, SMC reset for MBP models 2009 and later:
Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.

Lost the keyboard backlight, use of my USB ports and camera shows as disconnected. How do I fix this?

Please help. I'm still a MAC rookie.
I unplugged my Pedometer from one of the USB ports on my Macbook Pro. Ever since then, I lost the backlight to my keyboard. I did some troubleshooting on these discussion boards and found a few with similar issues, but most of the discussions were old and the solutions were out of date. As one of them advised, I checked to see if my Isight Camera was still connected and it wasn't. I also tried plugging a few different things into both USB ports and neither of them worked either. So whatever caused this, it's affecting all 3 of these things. I don't know if my Pedometer is old/bad and it "short-circuited" the USB port and everything else along with it when I unplugged it or if something coincidentally went bad at the same time that I removed it.
I read some old answers from the discussion boards where they suggested a Command (R) system recovery reboot. But I also read that that really doesn't help on newer operating systems. I am on OS X. Here is my Hardware Overview:

I did recently purchase a backup drive and I THINK I previously backed everything up properly. But, I can't even plug that into the USB port now to see if I

What system version were you running before you updated to 10.9.4? Another 10.9.x or something earlier?
What version of Office? 2004, 2008, or 2011?
Were you aware that Office 2004 does not run on recent versions of the system?
When you say your USB ports do not work, on what are you determining that?
Were you aware that Mavericks does not display external disk volumes by default?

After downloading itunes, I hooked my iphone up to my computer and told it to restore. Got an error message, 1015, and it wouldn't restore my phone so now all I get on the screen is a pic of a usb port and an image of itunes. Anyone know what I can do??

Error 1015: This error is caused by attempts to downgrade the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch's software. This can occur when you attempt to restore using an older .ipsw file. Downgrading to a previous version is not supported. To resolve this issue, attempt to restore with the latest iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch software available from Apple.
What this means is you have to delete your .ipsw file (it may be corrupted or old) and attempt to restore your iPhone again.
Where the .ipsw file is found:

Windows XP           - C:\Documents and Settings\[username]\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Updates
