Pavilion DV6-3134ca CPU replacement

So my laptop just recently died. I searched online and read that by looking at the Cap Locks blinking light will tell me what is wrong with the laptop.
1 blink then pulse means something wrong with the CPU. Im guessing that it means the CPU is toast.
Is it replaceable? I could not find any information on this.
Product #: XG886UA#ABC
it has the AMD Triple Core Phenom CPU.
Thanks

Hey gd6noob1,
This link has info on the blink codes: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?lc=en&cc=dk&docname=c01443366
It is possible to replace the CPU, however it is a fairly complicated procedure. I'd highly recommend that you contact HP Support (800-HP-INVENT) if the code indeed shows a CPU problem

    Hi guys,
    I have Hp pavillion dv6-3134ca
I just got my video chip dead. (Laptop is working but the screen is black both on laptop and external monitor)
And I'm thinking to get a new motherboard from ebay, to replace the old one.
The question is - are there any oportunities for upgrade? Can I get a motherboard with a more powerfull video chip? How to determine which motherboards will be compatible with my CPU and which are not? Are there any guide for this?
    Any advices are highly appreciated.
    Thank you very much.

  • Pavilion dv6 QE CPU Issue

Hello. After I recently ran HP Support Assisstant for the first time since I got this notebook, I noticed a peculiar issue with my computer. Occasionally after some usage of my notebook I would look at my All CPU Meter and see that a single core out of the 8 would just randomly jump up to 100% usage and just hang there for a while. Usually when this happens, it is when I'm about to switch programs. Also when this issue starts happening and I try to shut off my computer, it will not shut off by itself and I need to hold the power button down for it to power down all the way. I think that Bins might be messing around with my notebook but that doesn't seem to be the case because when I turn it off it still happens occasionally.

Is it possible to upgrade the CPU on this model? If possible, What are the options I have? I prefer Core i7
    Your help is appreciated.
Please note that it has switchable graphics (ATI HD 5470 and Intel HD Graphics)

    Hi,
Have a look at this manual: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02657339.pdf
Your laptop (the motherboard) supports only dual core processors (Core i3 and i5..). Upgrade to a Core i7 processor means that you have to change the motherboard.

  • Upgrading the CPU in my HP Pavilion dv6-6b08sa Notebook PC

    Hey there,
I am looking to upgrade my seemingly weak CPU so that my laptops performance may be noticeably improved, for things such as gaming. I have an HP Pavilion dv6-6b08sa Notebook PC, running a Windows 7 64-bit Operating System.
    This is my current CPU:
    Quad-Core AMD A6-3410MX APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics, 1600 Mhz, 4 Core(s), 4 Logical Processor(s)
If you require any more information about my laptop in order to help me, please ask and I will be happy to provide.
Please note that I do not want to have to upgrade any other components of my laptop, such as the motherboard, in case the CPU requires stronger/more powerful support, as money is a limitation. The cheaper the better, as long as the performance will be improved noticeably. Thank you.

    Hello TooQuix,
I understand you want to upgrade your CPU is the correct? I will try and provide you the information that you need.
This document will provide you a list of processors available for this unit. Now because you have AMD installed originally, and you're using the same motherboard you will have to continue to use AMD.
If you turn to page 85 there is a list of processors, the part numbers are there as well to help your search. Also, if you plan on doing the work on your own the instructions on how to replace the processor is shown there as well.
    I hope this helps.

  • Upgrading CPU - HP Pavilion dv6-3236nr Entertainment Notebook PC

    hello all,
First post here and what i am trying to do is research the possibilities of upgrading my CPU. The model is in the subject line and i will include as much info as i could find:
HP Pavilion dv6-3236nr Entertainment Notebook PC
         Intel core i3 M370 with 2.4Ghz and 4gb memory
         64 bit running windows 7
Trying to upgrade to an i5 possibly. Maybe upgrade the RAM if anyone has a reason why it would be necessary. Trying to stay cheap and plug and play, as i don't want to replace anything but these two components.
    Thanks for any guidance!

    Hi,
The 3rd manual of the following link will show you many things such as a list of CPU's supported, RAM supported, how to open and shut the machine:

  • Hp pavilion dv6 cpu not functional

    Hello,
I have a HP Pavilion DV6 and after I press the power button the display remain black and the caps lock/num lock LEDs are flashing 1 time. I saw the LED flasing code and the error is CPU nou functional.
Please help me to solve this problem.
    Thank you.
    Doru

normally the only way to resolve the issue is to replace the CPU, if the unit is in warranty then HP will do this free of charge
I would suggest doing the following 2 things first however:
    Power drain:
    remove battery and power cable
hold power button for 15 seconds
    replace power cable only
    power on
    BIOS recovery:
hold Win+B and power on with these 2 keys held down
if the problem still persists after these 2 steps then the CPU needs replaced

No if you do replace it you have to get an AMD...the AMDs all have the same type of socket and the Intels are completely different.

  • Poor quality of HP Pavilion dv6-7040tx Entertainment Notebook PC - replacement

    Hi,
I purchased  HP Pavilion dv6-7040tx Entertainment Notebook PC and within 4-5 days of purchase I came to know that the integrated webcam is not working- having hardware fault, followed the steps provided by help desk.
Went to service station as well and the issue is not getting rectified with driver/software reinstallation. It's a clear indication that some of the hardware is having issue.
In such a case (notebook is less than 7 days old) and it's integrated cam never worked, shouldn't it be replaced immediately? instead of doing Hardware troubleshoot offerings.

  • Can I Replace a Keyboard(Non-Backlit) with Backlit Keyboard in my HP Pavilion DV6 3217TU Laptop.??

Hello All... My name Pravin and I own a HP PAVILION DV6-3217TU Laptop couple of years ago.
Well, when I visited a near by HP Customer service center for the replacement of some components in it, the HP Technician has told me that My HP PAVILION DV6-3217TU Laptop is compatible for the up-gradation with Backlit Keyboard as he found the required sockets available for a backlit keyboard on my laptop's Mother Board. I felt pretty happy to hear about that, as it sounds real cool for the guy like me who works mostly at night time...
PLEASE CAN ANYBODY CONFIRM THAT MY HP PAVILION DV6-3217TU Laptop IS COMPATIBLE FOR THIS UP-GRADATION, IF COMPATIBLE, DOES ALL THE KEY STROKES WORKS FINE AS THE PREVIOUS ONE.???

  • Core i7 HP Pavilion DV6 6011tx heats up-to 57C when idle and rises up-to 90C when on load!

Hi... I have an HP Pavilion DV6 6011tx laptop.. (with a core i7 cpu and 6GB ram).. When im using the laptop for browing, the temperatures rise upto 55 to 60 C! (Even with a cooling pad)... Yesterday, i tried to render a video with adobe premier... Then, temperatures rose upto 98C! But the laptop kept working....
Yesterday when i asked the HP support, they said that the normal temperature of a laptop should be between 30 to 40C... They asked me to contact a technician... The technicians at the shop where i bought this machine told me that 50 to 60C is normal!
Now i just want to know who is correct? Am i in a danger? Does my laptop have a heating problem? Or is it normal?

You have not specified if it is the CPU or GPU that these temperatures are reported for. In either case 98C is way too high for CPU or GPU. The machine may work ok but the heat stress may significantly reduce the life of your computer. What mode have you set HP Coolsense to? I would recommend 'Performance' to keep those temps down. If its your CPU thats heating up drastically then try unistalling programs that you don't need. If that does not help, you can type 'config.sys' in the Windows command prompt and make sure no unecessary processes are running by disabling them from running on startup. Please note that disabling important Windows services can crash your computer so only do this if you are familiar with the Windows environment. If its the GPU that heating then you can check the ATI graphics driver setting to make sure it is running in balanced mode as opposed to performance mode. My HP Dv6-3015tx was very tame that the temps for CPU were between 50-65C and GPU never exceeded 65C with a cooling pad. I would say those are good temperatures for a laptop. I was interested in picking up the DV6-6000 series as a replacement but changed my mind because the central cooling fan did not have a direct air intake at the bottom. With my old DV6-3015 I just placed the machine so that one of the cooling fans in the cooling pad was blowing right into the laptops cooling fan air intake located on the upper right side of the machine directly feeding air into the machines cooling system. This reduced the machines temps by 10C under stress so I could game on for hours without breaking a sweat. After looking at the new DV6-6000 series I changed my mind about getting it because there is no direct inlet to boost the built in cooling system. Thereby you are at the mercy of HP's coolsense. Hope this helps.
