Pavilion dv6 Audio Issue

I recently tried NCH Debut screen recorder - it came packaged with a VERY handy document & AV file converter.
I started having random, then regular, BSOD issues, indicating stdriver64.sys was the issue.
Investigation indicates this is the SoundTap audio driver - which is from NCH.
I've uninstalled all the NCH programs, but there are still registry entries for "sound tap" and also the "stdriver64.sys" in several places in my registry.
I cannot system-restore my laptop to a time prior-to installing NCH, as I cannot find the entry in the system-restore available selections.  I only have about 10 entries in the list to choose restore points, and I installed NCH prior-to the oldest available selection.
Troubleshooting the audio using the HP support assistant indicates my audio drivers are experiencing "Error(39)"
The drivers affected are:
IDT High Definition Audio CODEC     stwrt64.sys    Version 6.10.6329.0
Intel(R) Display Audio     IntcDAud.sys     Version 6.14.0.3074
I have manually d/l from HP the correct audio driver install package for my laptop:  sp52399
I've tried 4 times to install this package.  Each time, it installs, advises me to reboot (which I immediately do) and upon reboot, I still have no audio, and HP support assistant still indicates Error(39) for my Audio drivers.
I am installing with full Adminitrator privileges.
I am at the end of my tether.  I want to avoid restoring my laptop to complete fresh HP install (which is my LAST resort).... as this takes me back about 3 months, and I will have countless windows & HP updates to re-download & re-install, never mind the endless process of re-installing all my programs and setting up my preferences.
I cannot find an easy way to take a snapshot/iso image of my freshly-installed & updated system.  The windows backup & recovery process does not work as expected, and last time it took 8 DVD's to burn my backup image and about 2 hours of time.  This is also unacceptable.  Why is it so hard to take a fresh image of your running system, for occasions like this?
Anyway - the question is this.  Can anyone please offer a definitive solution for restoring my audio, without having to revert to a complete fresh factory-reset?
NOTE:  I have basic knowledge of computer systems.  I don't have in-depth knowledge of registry settings, etc.  I know how to search for them, but have no idea what they all mean.  Any solutions offered, please be in plain-english and not TOO difficult, considering I am not a programmer !!!
Any advice of help is appreciated
Osiris

Thanks billaboard for your response.
Unfortunately, I gave up waiting for an answer and just re-set the laptop back to factory specs.... then spent the next 8 hours re-installing programs & updating windows & the HP programs to the current versions.
I won't be using an NCH product again.
In terms of who I should be asking, I would point out:
I used the inbuilt HP Support Assistant on my laptop, to diagnose why my sound wasn't working.  It identified the drivers that were at issue.
I uninstalled all NCH programs
I downloaded the correct HP Audio drivers & reinstalled them.  They advised it was a successful install.  8 times.
Each time I rebooted, I would run the HP Support Assistant again and it would then identify that the HP drivers were not working.
The HP Support Assistant link, for further help, led me here.  If this isn't the correct place to ask for help.... a site labelled "HP Support Forum", then where the hell is ?
Thankyou again for your response.  If I have further issues with other programs, I will follow your advise and re-install the offending program, before un-installing.

  • HP Pavilion dv6 audio stops working upon inserting headphone

I have a HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC with Windows 7 64-bit Service Pack 1 installed. Almost every time that I insert a headphone into either of the two headphone jacks the audio stops functioning and this issue continues even after I remove the headphone from the headphone jack. As a result when I want to play an audio on my laptop I get an error that there is a problem with the driver/sound device. I have the latest IDT High Definition Audio Codec driver installed, i.e. sp59542 ver. 6.10.6381.0. Occasionaly, disabling and enabling, or uninstalling and reinstalling the audio driver would resolve the issue but the problem would happen again upon connecting a headphone to my laptop. I have used two different headphones (differen brands) and the problem continues. From the searches I have done this seems to be a hardware issue and something related to the on/off switch in the headphone jack so I was wondering if HP is aware of this and whether any recall has been made. It looks like there are different symptoms associated with this hardware issue. Any help with fixing this problem would be greatly appreciated.

  • HP Pavilion DV6 Webcam Issue.

I have an HP Pavilion dv6-6033cl with Windows 7 64 bit installed.
I have an issue with my webcam, it appears to turn on randomly every now and then.
Not longer than a week ago I thought this may have been a virus and I deleted my entire hard drive and installed Windows on the empty partition.
The webcam light just keeps turning on, I have no current software that uses it and i've only had windows reinstalled for about a week, I have a couple of virus protectors and nothing seems to make the webcam light stop until I restart the computer.
Any help would be much appreciated.

  • Hp pavilion dv6 power issue

I have a HP Pavilion dv6t 2300 laptop. Few days ago, the laptop suddenly stopped running with power issue. I bought a new battery thinking it was a battery issue. When I plug in the battery, AC led light won't turn on and the laptop won't charge. Soon as I take the battery out, AC led light is on.
I tried to turn on the laptop removing the battery with only AC power on, but it will not turn on either.
Is the the problem with the circuit board or is there any step I can do to make this work? Any help is much appreciated.

Have you tried another charger to make sure the adapter isn't the problem?

  • Sound Playback Issue with IDT High Definition Audio Codec HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC

Since i bought this laptop, every time i use skype or the Windows Sound Recorder, i hear static that drastically increases in volume. Uninstalling the IDT High Definition Audio Codec prompts my computer to automatically install the driver again, this usually fixes the problem, but after restarting my laptop, the problem returns.
Does anyone know a permanent fix to this issue?

  • HP Pavilion dv6 Windows 7 Beats Audio Sound issue

    Hi-
I am using HP Pavilion dv6 with Windows 7 and has Beats Audio installed. It is about 9-10 months old Couple of times in the last few months, the sound just screached and then the volume on the speakers went down tremendously. I have-
    1. Confirmed that the latest drivers are in place
    2. Confirmed that all audio setting options are set right
    3. Confirmed that the device is working correctly (Through device manager)
2-3 weeks after the first such instance, the sound came back normal without any setting changes. Now I am facing the same issue-
    1. Sound is very low on- Speaker, headphones and HDMI output
    2. Sound is very low on- Skype, Yahoo messenger
It appears to be an hardware issue- if anyone has encountered such issue or know of any potential solutions, please share it.

Thanks for getting back to me with that information!
I've got a couple of things for you to try.
First, try updating to the latest BIOS version F.1C. Download and install F.1C. Your computer will restart on its own during the installation. Allow it to restart and test it for sound issues. If you are still having the problem, move on to the second option.
2nd Option You have the latest audio driver version 6.10.6381.0 installed. There are two versions listed on your driver page which means some units may work better with one version or the other. Don't make any changes to the BIOS version you just installed, but roll back to the earlier audio driver version.
    To do this:
    Open Device Manager
Expand Sound, video and game controllers
    Double-click on IDT HD Audio
    Click the Driver tab
If the 'Rollback' button is enabled, click that and restart the computer.
If the 'Rollback' button is not enabled, click Uninstall, do not restart the computer
Download and install 6.10.6345.0 offered on this link and restart
Let me know the results when you get a chance

  • No Audio Issue HP Pavilion dv6...Please Help!

Good day, I have been experiencing several audio issues with my laptop. Firstly, my laptop stopped playing audio unless I disable then enabling the IDT HD audio CODEC. I then tried uninstalling the driver and reinstalling it only to find that the drivers i found weren't compatible. Then I tried the recovery manager and when I restart the notebook it encountered a problem and I lost audio and my Beats enhancement. Can someone please help me on what to do?
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

    Hi,
    Try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.
IDT HD Audio Driver - Windows 7.
When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers.  Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, download and reinstall the Chipset driver on the following link.
    Chipset Driver - Windows 7.
When the Chipset reinstallation has completed, shutdown the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to launch the Start-up Menu and then select f10 to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults ( this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key ), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
Let Windows fully load - it will automatically load an audio driver, but just let this complete.  Then open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation.  When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.

  • Sound Issues HP Pavilion dv6-6158nr Entertainment Notebook PC

    Hello,
I have HP Pavilion dv6-6158nr Entertainment Notebook PC with Windows 7 Pro 64-bit OS. Recently I noticed issues with how my volume control works. I am not sure if it's an application issue (Firefox 9/10) or audio drivers. While watching playing an audio file or watching video my default playback device is set to speaker, but as soon as I plugin my headphones both headphones and speakers will go to mute. Some times disabling and re-enabling the device will solve this issue, and other than that I also have to restart Firefox to get the sound back.
Tried installing all the available updates form windows, also reinstalled/update the sound drivers as n admin with no possible fix. Also as shown in picture below, when I try to make a Google call using Firefox I use built-in mike an headphones. During that time headphones icon will be appeared in the window shown below listed as communication device and disable both audio in/out.
Let me know if any further information is required.
    Thanks.

    First uninstall the audio driver:
Click Start and type device in the search field, then select Device Manager. >> Audio, video and game controlar >> right click and uninstall all values under it >> restart >> download and install the following drivers:
    BIOS
    Audio

  • AMD High Definition Audio Device Not Plugged In (HP Pavilion dv6-6b09sa)

I have just booted up my HP Pavilion dv6-6b09sa (running on Windows 7) laptop to find that the sound icon has a red cross next to it and it claims that 'No speakers or headphones are plugged in'. In the Control Panel it states that the AMD High Definition Audio Device is Not Plugged In. As far as I know, I've done nothing to cause this.I have already tried:System restore to yesterday at 10pm;Instalation of a TDI driver from the HP website, however I do not know how to edit/disable/delete the old driver. I'm completely clueless about these things. Please help, I'm at a complete loss.

This happened to me too. I own an HP Pavilion dv7-1135nr (Windows Vista). The internal hard drive stopped working, I took it to a computer repair shop, they put in a new internal hard drive, asked Microsoft for a key code and jump started the laptop. I took it home with me yesterday, watched a few videos and wondered why the sound wasn't working. The volume light on the laptop base was indicated as red (which meant the volume was off, even when the volume on the laptop screen was on). The only way I was able to hear sounds from videos was when I put my ear phones on.
I read somebody say that this happened to them and they restarted/rebooted their computer. I did that and, expectedly, it didn't work.  I came across this page, opened up "Device Manager," opened up "Sound, Video and Game Controllers." Right-clicked the "IDT Device" and then uninstalled it. My laptop then restarted and thankfully the sound was back up. I didn't need to download anything or right click the "IDT Installer" or "Right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button" or any of that. It thankfully came back without me having to do any of that. I restarted/rebooted my computer to see if it was a fluke, and thankfully it worked again.  Now I don't have to use my ear phones. My ears didn't like being pumped with sound, even when it was on low. My "Digital Display Audio" is still not checked green. It says that it's "not plugged in." But hopefully I won't run into this problem again in the future. Because if I'm a week or two or a month removed, the repair people I initially went to for my internal hard drive problem, will say that this was a separate issue caused by me and will charge me extra, when it was in fact caused by them (not maliciously of course, I guess this kind of thing happens when you replace a hard drive, as do a lot of other things which I'm not beginning to see). Thanks DavidPK.

  • Audio stop working in a Pavilion dv6 with vista enterprise 64

    Hi guys,
I´m having a very strange problem with my girlfriend´s laptop. One month ago, we bought a HP pavilion dv6-1117es with Windows Vista Home 32 bits installed. I changed the S.O. to a new Vista Enterprise 64 bits. Everything works perfectly. Last week while she was working with MS Word, the sound system stops working. Nothing changes and the laptop didn´t show any errors. I made all the tests I could imagined without success. Frustrated I decided to reinstall the S.O. but there is no sound.
    Steps done:
Review and reinstall drivers from HP. I also have uninstall all the items in the audio system and the laptop rediscover the hardware without errors.
I have tried any option both in the windows vista audio mixer and in the IDT application selecting any audio source possible.
I have updated the laptop bios into the latest version.
I have tried with several external speakers and I have the same result.
    Also updated MS UAA.
    Also restarted audio services
    Symptoms:
The problem is that everything looks ok. The mixer shows the green bar up and down when I play any mp3 song. It seems to work in all the devices including external speakers, double speakers, SPIF line out and HDMI out. There is no red crosses or yellow warnings anywhere.
    Please help me.
    Thanks-

HI Jaimese, yes I tried XP service pack 2 does not help.
I did a system reinstallation apparently that worked for all of 10 minutes,
then back to teh same thign.  It must be a software issue.
Theonly time when it sort of worked was when the HP guy told me to uninstall the IDT drivers, then windows vista reinstalled it again.
I did a total clean install , meaning I wped the HDD clean through system restore that did nothing.
I  don't know what to do. Well......... actually I do . If nobody takes responsability
    A) return HP comptuer to retailer.
    B) Take a trip to local Apple store. (yes they are expensive but at this point I should not have to do a clean install one week into ownership).

  • Hp Pavilion dv6-6c35dx Windows 7 beats audio problems

Product name : Hp Pavilion dv6-6c35dx
Operating System : Windows 7 Home Premium Service Pack 1 64 Bit
I'm having a problem with some of the sliders in my beats audio options. The sliders in the graphic equalizer section work just fine, but the ones to the left of it - bass, treble, center, etc - have no effect on the sound no matter how I adjust them. Below is a picture of what I'm talking about.  This problem seemed to happen shortly after I needed to reset my pc back to factory settings. I've gone to the drivers section of the hp website and got the HD IDT audio driver for my model called "sp58131" and installed it but all it did was reset the sliders, the problem still persists. Is there anything else I can do?

    Hi Vivi,
I understand you are having issues with your HP Pavilion dv6-6c35dx Notebook and Beats Audio. I would uninstall the driver from the device manager and any others that might be in the Audio. Then reinstall it from here.
    Hope this helps.

  • HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC audio glitch

HP Pavilion dv6 Notebook PC, Product number: QJ920AV#ABA, Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Service Pack 1
Is it even possible to simaltaneously use the audio and micrphone jacks? I have Turtle Beach headphones which have both inputs so that you have hear and transmit voice while listening to any in-game sounds. However, everytime I try, the audio gltiches and I can no longer hear anything or even play sound files in Windows Media player and I am forced to restart.
This only happens if I try to simaltaneously use those two ports. I would very much like to use them both so that when I am playing games I can avoid the irritating error (which displays no error image and is not detected by diagnostic reports) and so that I can hear both in-game music and hear other peoples' voices. This error has always been here.

    Hello fleming1442,
