Pavilion dv6 - loud beeping sound when starting +sound problem

i just bought an hp pavilion dv6 notebook LR732PA and every time i turn it on there's a loud beeping sound, and i'm not sure if this is normal but it asks me where to boot from (pc hard drive) and which oS (windows 7 64-bit). does anyone know how to stop the beeping?
Also sometimes the sound stops working altogether and an icon appears on the screen with a circle moving around it, and when i try to put the volume up the bar slides back down. it usually can be fixed by closing some programs and processes, it happens sometimes when ive just got 2 programs running and i close one and its ok, or if its not i have to restart. is this something to do with RAM or some kind of sound setting?

The beep on startup is usually an indication of a failed RAM module. It's also possible that a recent firmware update on the machine was botched. If you didn't recently perform a firmware update then it's probably the RAM. As the RAM is soldered directly to the logic board it cannot be replaced individually, it'd require a full logic board replacement.
Given the age of the machine, it's unlikely still covered by the AppleCare Protection Plan and definitely not the one year limited warranty.
The next course of action would be to bring the machine into the Genius Bar or AASP and have them evaulate your repair options.

HDMI sound. Pavilion DV6. Windows 7. TV sound was working via HDMI. Now switched off?

I connected the pavilion dv6 to the tv with an HDMI cable. Sound and vision were working on the tv after setting the TV to HDMI.
My Grandson discovered that their was no sound from the computer and, unknown to me, changed something to get sound from the computer speakers which stopped sound from the tv.
How do I get sound back to the tv via HDMI. How do you switch from computer to tv sound and back ? can you have both at once ?

Hi Malcolm,
Open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Display Devices - make a note of the hardware listed here i.e. ATI, Nvidia or Intel.
Next, connect your notebook via HDMI to your Tv. Right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices. Left click once ( just to highlight the entry ) the HDMI Output that has the same name as your display adapter and then click the Set Default button - see if you now have audio.

Loud Beep Noise made whenever Sound buttons pressed to increaase or decrease volume

I have a very irritating loud "Beep Sound" that is being made whenever I press the Volume Increase or Decrease buttons.
How do I turn this off.
I have searched all the sound related settings, but not found the right place. I contacted one of the other Sunscriber Pros (Mark_Lenovo), but was referred to this Forum.

Restart your computer and press ThinkVantage button to get to Bios Settings and in there you will find the setting under Alarms.
This has taken me 18 months to find!!
Now I have a quiet Volume Control!

How stop ambient sound when video sound starts?

I play ambient background music in my movie. I've written
Actionscript to attach an mp3 and control the overall sound volume.
The code to control the overall sound is:
_global.allSounds = new Sound ();
_global.allSounds.setVolume(50); for example
However, in my movie there are also video clips (w/sound)
that I have embedded using the FLVPlayback component and one of the
designer skins. The problem? I don't know how to stop the ambient
music when the user clicks the "Play" button on the skin. Both the
ambient sound and video sound play at the same time creating a
cacophony. And if the user happens to click the "mute" button on
the skin, my _global.allSounds.setVolume() commands have no effect.
How do I integrate the way sound is controlled by
Actionscript vs. the way it is controlled by video components?

The obvious answer would be: remove the Beep VI that's probably in there. Please show us your code.

Replacement macbook has loud beep again when I click on isight in imovie.

was sent a replacement mac for this very reason and my new one is doing the exact same loud beep. It really scares the you know what out of me every time it goes off. Spent over an hour on the phone with applecare and tried to take the battery out and reset whatever that was like they told me and still nothing. Does anyone have a way to fix this?

You know, I tried to email you and it said I had to know your email...***. Ok, by turning down the volumes it really turns your computer down but at least this works for now. The product specialist called me back and he said that it sounds like some type of feedback problem so he is going to talk to the engineers and give me a call back in few days or by next week.
Ok, go to System Peferences and where ever both of the volumes are now, cut it in half. Worked for me except the volume is really low.
I'll keep you posted when my product specialist calls back.
Is everything else fine on your mac? Everything else works beautifully on mine. The first macbook would tap right click or recognize CDs right away and the internet was rrreeeaaalllyyy slow.

Stop sound when another sound plays

Hey guys,
Using Flash Pro CC 2014, Actionscript 3
I am working on a soundboard and use buttons that play sounds, and I want to make it that when a new sound plays, it automatically stops the current sound from playing, that way 2 sounds dont play at same time.
But I also have a button that stops all sounds, I am using the "Click to Stop All Sounds" code under Audio and Video in the Code Snippets.
So I am basically wanting to make sure I can do both, keep the stop all sounds button, but also have it when you press any sound button, it stops all sounds and starts playing the current button/sound. Any suggestions?
BTW I am setting up symbols as buttons, not movie clips incase you need to know for coding, but I can switch to movie clips if its easier. I was just used to buttons on older versions of Flash for simple stuff like this.

Thanks for the reply, I am new to actionscript 3 but am a fast learner. Maybe I am doing this wrong, but when I add the code it simply stops the sounds, but it wont play the sound from the button that I just clicked on. I want it to play the sound button clicked on, and also stop any other sounds that are currently playing.
For Flash 8, as2, I would add this to the button:
on (press)
stopAllSounds ();
On as3, does it need to say this?

Loud beeping and no start up on MacBook. Please help

After taking apart my MacBook today to try figure out a screen connection problem, I go to turn my MacBook back on and all I get is a repetitive loud beep 5 seconds apart and no start up. I have tried rebooting ram and re-seating it but still nothing. Please help!

Pavilion dv6 headphones stop working when certain programs launched

My pavilion dv6 (product number: A5F76AV; OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64-bit) is brand new, just arrived yesterday. On startup, the headphones work fine when watching videos online and for any other system audio, but when I launch a game (through steam) I no longer get audio through the headphones (system reverts back to playing audio through the onboard speakers). Once this happens, no audio comes through the headphones regardless of the source, although the volume coming from the onboard speakers changes somewhat when the headphones are plugged in and unplugged.
I've tried manually downloading and installing the audio driver for my computer by going through the HP support website, but doing so did not help. I would be extremely grateful for any help that can be offered.

HP Pavilion DV6-3049TX Giving Shocks when plugged in with Adaptor

I purchased HP Pavilion dv6-3049TX from, Punjab India through authorised HP world outlet last week only .This laptop is giving mild to strong shocks when power adapter is plugged in. The shock produces real sensation and sometimes unbearable too.. This defect is very serious in nature . I am using the 4th laptop of the company never faced such problem.( last was 1414TX). Definitely there is some technical fault and it is not expected from such a reputed multinational company.
What all my friends suggest to do?
Complaint already registered with HP and still pending.
Improper earthing in home is being assigned reason for this.
If this is the reason for shocks from this laptop dont you think company should Boldly paste label on this laptop model that " ONLY PERSONS WHO HAVE PROPER EARTHING IN THEIR HOME AND WHERE EVER THEY WANT TO TAKE THIS LAPTOP FOR WORK IN THE WORLD SHOULD HAVE PROPER EARTHING should purchase OTHERWISE READY FOR SHOCK OR DONT PURCHASE"
I feel if this the techanical fault HP should recall all this models and refund money with compensation. Please advice me ? Is any body elese facing problem. What is the possible solution ?

This issue t was posted in this forum few days back . 3049TX laptop producing vibrations/shocks when plugged with AC adapter. The complaint is lodged with HP on 24/08/2010 and almost 14 days gone still case under process and engineers working aggresively on the issue. Two different engineers checked the voltage Four times on four different dates ( latest reading (P/N = 211 volts) ( P/E = 211 volts) & (N/E = 2 volts). Four units of same model tested at 3 different locations . All were producing vibrations and shocks and tester( Testpin) clear showing neon lamp lighting quite brightly( I wish i can paste pics here . Of course I can mail to any one who pvtly msg me their email). The service centre deliberately delaying. Why don't HP not accepting and refund money?
As already submitted that laptop notebook not a desktop it is a mobile unit can be taken any where in India or in world. Will HP engineers accompany the shocking notebooks ? and check earth/ grounding every where where ever the poor unlucky owner of this laptop will go.
I have gone through all electronic and hard printed Brochure of this laptop and couldn't find the warning or information that " This laptop needs proper grounding and earthing at all places where you want to use this laptop"
I appeal all of you to please provide solution to me as well to HP what to do?

HP Pavilion dv6 - Cursor randomly selects when typing.

Hello! Infinitely frustrating as I am writing my thesis - but as I'm typing my cursor will randomly select without me clicking anything. At first I thought it was my thumbs hitting the touch pad but I disable the "tap" function and am still having the issue.
Anyone else? Anyone know how to fix it? Thanks!

I joined just to comment on this. I bought this computer (the Pavilion dv6) in June or July of 2011. I have been having the exact same problem ever since, and I don't know how to fix it. Like the OP said, it's not harmful, but just super annoying. Any ideas?

1GHz DVI Makes Sizzling Sound When Started; LCD Never Illuminates

I have a 1GHz DVI I was given with both hinges broken, but that still displayed video (although of a degraded nature). I have been trying different replacement hinges/displays on it with differing unsuccessful results. When I power it on with one of the displays, I hear a sizzle near the start button; computer boots but LCD remains black. With another display, the LCD flickers a few times then goes black; no sizzling sound. The computer itself always boots and can be used with an external monitor so it's not the logic board. I have successfully replaced the hinges and/or displays of titanium PowerBooks before but this is driving me crazy. How do you know if the inverter is bad?

Hi, Toolshed. If you can see a display image on the screen with the aid of a bright light, but the backlight isn't lit, then it's likely that the inverter, or the cable that connects it to the logic board, or the cable that connects it to the backlight tube is bad. If you've been busily swapping displays in and out, you may have damaged the cable from the inverter to the backlight in one or more of them. And if the cable has shorted out, the short may have damaged your inverter. But before replacing the inverter or either cable, make sure there is indeed an image on the display. If the display is blank instead of just dark, you have a more serious problem — most likely a bad video cable, since your external display behaves normally.

I came across your post about your Notebook, and wanted to assist you! I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion dm4 Notebook and issues with a loud buzzing sound. I recommend to restore the BIOS defaults.You could restore the BIOS with this document selecting the reloading the BIOS default settings. This has helped others.
