Pavilion dv6 too hot. Emits heat that makes uncomfortable working. Specially left hand.

I have 4 laptops. 1 Lenovo, 3 hp including this. This is the only one emitting heat and it is the newest one. I do not use it much because it is my photo/video laptop. But as time passes, it is becoming more hot. Warranty will spire in March 2012.

i face the same problem as you . i have send back to hp for service. i spoke to the hp tech they say its normal because of design , cpu and hardisk is on that side .so we have to design our left hand to work with the laptop ...... how are we going to use the laptop. 2 days ago i just got back the laptop its still the same problem . i will stop buying hp product

I have had this happen to me on 3GS, 4 and 4s. Usually the solution is one of the following:
1- If your volume indicator says headphones even though they are not plugged in, then:
Stick your headphones into the headphone jack and then remove quickly.
2. If that does not work Power your phone off. Then when restarting Reset the phone by pressing the home button and the power button at the same time until the apple logo appears.
3. Make sure you have not chosen to send audio to an Airplay device such as Apple Tv.

HP Pavilion dv6-6b10tx two of the usb ports are not working

I have recently bought a HP Pavilion dv6-6b10tx....and had it fixed by hp for a problem with the beeping noise.
After sending my laptop for repairs( replacing the system board), I received my laptop but two of my usb ports are not functioning...
I did a bios update and did the hp update to see if it actually fix anything but not luck. So I went device manager and found a exclamation mark on the renesas electronics usb 3.0 host controller with a device status 'This device cannot start. (Code 10)'. What do i do??

The question is why is the port not working? Is something in the port that you can see? If not, then there isn't much you can do but take the computer in to the genius bar and have the techs see if it is a circuit problem that can be fixed.

Where is the scroll bar that used to be on the left hand side of the screen?

Am very aggrevated at itunes 11.0 trying to search through my 16000 songs on my ipod. there is no vertical scroll bar that used to be on the right hand side of the screen. How do I get it back?????

I have a corrupt Photo file, that makes Aperture stop working properly.

I recently imported some of my old photos from a CD to the Aperture Library. Every time I open that project or try to work with any of those photos Aperture will stop working. (in a very aggressive way)
The viewer wont update.!
It wont make any change or save anything.!
I have to quit and restart Aperture to have it working again, I don't know what is wrong.
Any Idea?
Maybe new aperture .5 will fix this??

Another option would be to quit Aperture, remove the project from the Library using the Finder, reopen Aperture (the troublesome project will now be greyed out), throw the troublesome project out, and finally reimport the images back into Aperture. The only problem is you now have to re-do any adjustments etc. for that project. If he project has other images you do not want to re-do you could try just removing the problem import group, go back into aperture and then throw those images out, quit (you may have to force quit) Aperture and then restart Aperture. I did the above on a test Aperture library, but as usual you have to be carefull. Do not do any of this without first duplicating the troublesome library.

regard.I'm afraid, I don't follow you very well. Anyway, if you have a db, with a running listener, you should be able to connect from any client over your local network (even through different OS). In that case, you'll need a client software (i.e. Oracle client runtime installation). Regarding the DMS, you should be able to find it onto the client after Peopletools/Peoplesoft application installation.

HP Pavilion dv6 (70-28TX) Air from vent EXTREMELY HOT

Hi! I recently Purchased a new HP Pavilion DV6 70-28TX Entertainment PC. However, I have noticed that after a few hours of gaming (The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim), The air coming from the left side vent of the Notebook is EXTREMELY HOT. I have made sure that the Notebook is getting optimal air-flow (Using flat desk surface, not obstructing vents, etc) I was just wondering if this is normal for this Notebook? This is the only problem I have had with this PC since Purchase on Christmas Day. (Infact I have been thoroughly satisfied with it apart from this)

If it is only happening when you are playing Skyrim or similar games, it is pretty normal. While notebooks have improved in their hardware, unless they are specifically designed for gaming, they are going to generate a lot of heat. Playing a game like that makes your computer work harder than anything else you are probably throwing at it. You might try turning the graphic settings down in the game and that might help a little bit.

HP pavilion dv6 restoration incomplete after recovery

I recently try to facotry reset my Hp pavilion dv6 using the recovery usb I make with the HP program when I brought this laptop, but it said "restoration incomplete".
I have ran the hard drive check and mem test at the BIOS and there isnt any problem. I also did a full format on the hard drive and it works. So I dont think there are any bad sector on hard drive.
I did factory reset, miniimze windows install...all the option I can had on the recovery problem but It doesnt work.
Once It finish the installation and laptop is restart, it automatically boot into the HP recovery program and said "restoration incomplete".
I am wondering how can I find my license product key so I can install a windows 7 or any other solution?

Sorry no solution for you but I to have a DV6 that no longer allows the DVD drive, bluetooth, web cam, wi-di and probably a load of other things to work to work. I've never been able to make back ups of my settings so like you want to start again. Please HP answer this question as I'd love to try Windows 7 also. P.s. never had so much trouble with a laptop!!!! Runs hot, can't system restore, can't use the simple things I'm used to on any other laptop!!

Hard drive in the HP Pavilion dv6-1145ew

Do you know what could be the maximum supported hard drive in the HP Pavilion dv6-1145ew and at what speed they need to work?
Sork for such a question but do not know much about this brand, and now space was missing. I thought about 5400rpm 1TB WD SCORPIO? Will it work in this laptop?

I can't say for sure, but you have to make sure that if you get a 1 TB HDD, that it is the same thickness of a drive with less capacity or it may not fit in your HDD bay.
Many 1 TB HDD's are thicker than a 500, 640 or 750 GB HDD.
So, a 1 TB HDD should work if it has the same physical dimensions as the 500 GB HDD supported in the notebook.

- Remove the battery.
- Remove all cards on the bottom (memory module, wireless card, modem card, etc.) Be careful with cables and connectors, it's very easy to damage and very time consuming to replace.
- Remove all drives (hard drive, CD-ROM drive, DVD drive, etc.) If you cannot find the hard drive, it most likely is hidden under the keyboard or under the top cover assembly. If you cannot find securing screws for the optical drive on the bottom, they are most likely under the keyboard.
- Remove all screws on the bottom of the laptop.
- Remove the keyboard securing strip. Be careful, sometimes it might be very tight.
- Remove the keyboard.
- Remove all screws under the keyboard and disconnect all cables.
- Remove all screws securing the display assembly. Lift the LCD screen / display off the base.
- Lift the top cover assembly off the base.
- Remove all screws securing the system board, the power board, the video board, etc. Disconnect all cables, connecting the boards.
- Remove all boards and remove the CPU.

HP Pavilion dv6-3145dx Notebook-Problem with keyboard

My HP Pavilion dv6-3145dx Entertainment Notebook PC's keyboard is not working properly. After my laptop has been running for a couple of hours, the keyboard starts typing all kinds of letters, numbers and printing prompts on its own. I spoke with a tech support person at a local retailer and they believe that there is a "short" in the keyboard and/or cable. I have been using an external keyboard as a work around, but an external keyboard is cumbersome for traveling. Unfortunately the laptop is out of warranty by about a month. Also,this problem started right after I purchased a 4MB RAM upgrade from HP.... don't know if there is any connection??? Any assistance is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Shut off when too hot?

I have a leno 3000 N100
Is it normal for the lap top to just shut itself off if it gets too hot?

no that is not normal. My Lenovo gets very hot and doesnt shut off! Laptops should not be allowed to get too hot but i find that my 3000 n100 gets hot very quickly.
My suggestion is to never rest your laptop directly on a blanket or bed or chair or anything that would prevent free air fow underneath it and keep it in a cool place or allow a regular fan to blow air accross it to keep it cool.

Using letter templates: how to make left hand column with logo/info repeat?

Hi all,
If you use one of the templates in Pages that has a column down the left-hand side of the page where you can put your company logo and information (e.g. the Modern Photographer Letter), I've noticed that when I do replace it with my info on the first page, if my letter runs over a page, the logo and info on the left-hand column for subsequent pages reverts to the template default.
Am I missing a step here?
How can I "set" it so that my own logo and info repeats on every page?

Core i7 HP Pavilion DV6 6011tx heats up-to 57C when idle and rises up-to 90C when on load!

Hi... I have an HP Pavilion DV6 6011tx laptop.. (with a core i7 cpu and 6GB ram).. When im using the laptop for browing, the temperatures rise upto 55 to 60 C! (Even with a cooling pad)... Yesterday, i tried to render a video with adobe premier... Then, temperatures rose upto 98C! But the laptop kept working....
Yesterday when i asked the HP support, they said that the normal temperature of a laptop should be between 30 to 40C... They asked me to contact a technician... The technicians at the shop where i bought this machine told me that 50 to 60C is normal!
Now i just want to know who is correct? Am i in a danger? Does my laptop have a heating problem? Or is it normal?

You have not specified if it is the CPU or GPU that these temperatures are reported for. In either case 98C is way too high for CPU or GPU. The machine may work ok but the heat stress may significantly reduce the life of your computer. What mode have you set HP Coolsense to? I would recommend 'Performance' to keep those temps down. If its your CPU thats heating up drastically then try unistalling programs that you don't need. If that does not help, you can type 'config.sys' in the Windows command prompt and make sure no unecessary processes are running by disabling them from running on startup. Please note that disabling important Windows services can crash your computer so only do this if you are familiar with the Windows environment. If its the GPU that heating then you can check the ATI graphics driver setting to make sure it is running in balanced mode as opposed to performance mode. My HP Dv6-3015tx was very tame that the temps for CPU were between 50-65C and GPU never exceeded 65C with a cooling pad. I would say those are good temperatures for a laptop. I was interested in picking up the DV6-6000 series as a replacement but changed my mind because the central cooling fan did not have a direct air intake at the bottom. With my old DV6-3015 I just placed the machine so that one of the cooling fans in the cooling pad was blowing right into the laptops cooling fan air intake located on the upper right side of the machine directly feeding air into the machines cooling system. This reduced the machines temps by 10C under stress so I could game on for hours without breaking a sweat. After looking at the new DV6-6000 series I changed my mind about getting it because there is no direct inlet to boost the built in cooling system. Thereby you are at the mercy of HP's coolsense. Hope this helps.
