Pavilion dv6 webcam being not detected?

My dv6 Laptops webcam does not work..

Hello,
I see that you're having an issue with the webcam in the notebook. If you could, please check and see if the webcam is listed in the device manager. If you don't know how to check for that, you can follow step 1.
Now, if you can't seem to find it listed in the device manager it could be that the webcam may have become unplugged internally and requires service. It could be a faulty webcam module which is not been recognized. I suspect you might have to send the Notebook in for a warranty repair to get it fixed. Now, if that's the case after following the steps below you will need to call HP@8004746836 and see what options they have to replace or repair the notebook.
Also, you can follow these steps to try and resolve the issue.
Steps:
Please follow this document which will guide you through a couple of steps on how to resolve this issue you're having.
The document should something like this:
First, try this steps that's circled.
If the first steps doesn't seem to resolve the issue go ahead and follow the next step below.
The first section "Video does not appear in your webcam software (such as YouCam, Skype, Messenger, etc.)" will guide you through a couple of trouble shooting steps to get the webcam to work within these programs.
If the first step doesn't resolve the issue please go to step #2 "Reinstalling the original webcam program that came with your computer”. This section will guide you through recovering the webcam software and drivers. This is the most important steps in the document if nothing before this resolves the issue.
It should look something like this:
Once you have finished both steps please let me know the outcome. If you have any more questions please ask.

  • My webcam is not detected on my macbook pro 2010

Hi everyone, my macbook pro doesn't recognize the webcam even in the system. Also I do have the windows7 also on the laptop. I wonder if it is the cause on the problem. Should I delete the windows7. I bought the laptop from my friend and he cannot resolve the problem too. So webcam is not detected at all and is mising in the system. Please advise. Thanks.

    > I cant detect a webcam and supposedly theres one built in.
    >I have looked in the control panel and hardware device manager but theres nothing there for a webcam.
Hi in some BIOS version there is an additional option to enable the webcam.
    Please check the BIOS.
If the BIOS would not provide such option well, in such case I would assume that your webcam module is faulty.
If the webcam module would be OK, then you should see something in the device manager even if the driver/software would not be installed.
    You know...

  • My HP Pavilion dv6-3060sa is not starting up on power plugging. Removed Battery Tried Hard boot.help

HP Pavilion dv6-3060SA is not starting up, tried hard boot but still no solution. The charger is OK. The problem is no LED blink on power connect as well no starting up of Laptop. Please help.

If you have another Mac, use Target Disk Mode. Connect your Mac to the other Mac using a Thunderbolt or FireWire cable, and hold down the T key while booting up on the problematic Mac. If you go into Finder on the other Mac, the first one's hard drive should show up as a disk.

  • Pavilion dv6 Webcam not working?

I have a Pavilion dv6-1030ca notebook, and for the past few weeks, I've been having trouble with my webcam. When I open HP MediaSmart Webcam, I get the following error message: "No video device detected. Please plug a video device into your computer. If you are using an integrated camera please make sure it is turned on." I have an integrated camera, and it (usually) turns on when the webcam application opens. I am running Windows Vista with SP1, and have tried many things to fix it, to no avail. The webcam does not appear in Device Manager, under Imaging Devices nor any of the USB Root Hubs. So far, I have attempted to:
    - Reinstalled the USB Root Hub Drivers
    - Tried to fix the solution in BIOS (as another thread suggested)
    - Attempted to use Recovery Manager to reinstall the driver (was not in the list)
    - Created Recovery Disks to solve the problem (it didn't)
    - Upgraded the MediaSmart Webcam software
I am in school right now, and I really can't afford to give my laptop away to get repaired for three weeks since I have exams coming up. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

I am in the exact boat as you.
Couldn't understand why all of a sudden, after about 3 months, the webcam 'device not found' in Win7 Device Manager, Google Chat, Skype, etc.
Called HP support, and they made us do a hard reset of the entire notebook, removing the battery, ac cord, and holding down the power button for 1 minute.
Webcam came back for 1 day, but I'm not about to unplug and reset everytime I am in the middle of a skype call?!
Sadly, HP or Costco (where it was purchased) doesn't seem to care or are willing to provide a solution.
Instead of recalling the computers, like automobile and other industries, they just wait and hope that the warranty runs out before it becomes a big deal.
They didn't stop selling them either, even with this known problem.
So now they have the G series of notebooks, and so the dv6 and its headaches can fade away for HP.
I have probably been involved with over 100 HP product purchases in my job the past 5 years, but this will be the last for the forseeable future.

  • HP Pavilion DV6 Webcam Issue.

I have an HP Pavilion dv6-6033cl with Windows 7 64 bit installed.
I have an issue with my webcam, it appears to turn on randomly every now and then.
Not longer than a week ago I thought this may have been a virus and I deleted my entire hard drive and installed Windows on the empty partition.
The webcam light just keeps turning on, I have no current software that uses it and i've only had windows reinstalled for about a week, I have a couple of virus protectors and nothing seems to make the webcam light stop until I restart the computer.
Any help would be much appreciated.

  • Tips for when your webcam is not detected

EDIT:  If you have recently upgraded to Windows 8 and are experiencing this issue please read this document.
Here are some tips for resolving a webcam not detected problem.  I see this question get asked a lot so here are the steps you should take to resolve the issue.
To begin you should make sure the device is being detected by Windows.  The following instructions are for Windows 7, but should be very similar for Windows Vista and Windows 8.
Option 1: Check Device Manager to make sure it is working properly.
Click your Start button, type “Device Manager,” and press Enter.
Once Device Manager loads click “View” and then “Show Hidden Devices.”
    Locate the “Imaging Devices” section.
Note whether you see the webcam here.
If the webcam is listed, right click it and verify that it is not “Disabled.”
If webcam is listed and not disabled, move onto Option 2.  If the webcam is not listed you will move onto Option 4.
Option 2:   Allow Windows to Re-install the device.
While still in Device Manager right click on your webcam and select “Uninstall”
If prompted select “remove driver and driver package.”
Reboot your notebook and allow Windows to attempt to reinstall the webcam.
If Windows detects the webcam verify the functionality of the webcam.
If Windows does not detect the webcam and install it move onto Option 3.
Option 3:  Manually install the drivers for your webcam.
Use this website to determine your product/model number.
Visit the HP Support Page and use this product number to visit your product’s specific page.
Go to “Drivers and Software” and locate the driver for your webcam.  NOTE: the drivers for the webcam are sometimes bundled with the YouCam software.
    Download and install this driver.
    Reboot the PC.
    Verify functionality.
Option 4:  Manually re-detecting the hardware.
    Disconnect all external devices.
    Shut down the notebook.
Remove the battery and AC power.
Press and hold the power button for 10-15 seconds.
Reinstall the battery and AC power.  Then turn the notebook on.
Once Windows is loaded go back to Device Manager.
Selection “Action” and then “Scan for hardware changes.”
If Device Manager detects the hardware allow it to install.
If Device Manager does not detect the hardware see Option 5.
Option 5: System Restore and System Recovery.
This is outlined very well in this document.  Note that any data that is not backed up prior to a recovery will be lost.
    Options 6: Repair or replacement.
If none of these solutions have worked for you it is likely that you are experiencing a hardware failure.  It is possible to replace the webcam or reseat a loose ribbon cable.  However, this is one of the more difficult repairs on the notebook.  If you would like to attempt this repair you can visit your notebook’s support page and navigate to the “Manuals” section.  There is normally a “Maintenance and Service Guide” for the notebooks, this will cover the disassembly of the notebook.  You can then use HP Parts Surfer to locate the part for your notebook.
If you do not wish to attempt a repair yourself you can inquire with HP about a repair.  For customers in the US/Canada you can call 1-800-474-6836.  If you’re not in this region you’ll need to visit HP’s Support Site to get your area’s contact information.

  • HP Pavilion DV9605ea CD drive not detected

    Hi everyone,
I'm after some help as I'm running out of ideas...
Basically, I have HP Pavilion DV9605ea which I was attempting to test with Memtest. I have changed the boot order in BIOS settings but it still booted into Windows. I have then brought up a quick boot menu(F9), only to see no CD drive being available - Only hadr drive.
The CD drive opens, spins and the light is blinking and then stops. I have flashed the bios with no luck. I have put another working CD cdrive in (from DV6330ea model) and still not detected.
Does this mean motheboard is faulty?
The laptops is original specification including windows Vista.

  • Pavilion dv6-6c35dx - Sound not working after a HP Support update

    Pavilion dv6-6c35dx with windows 7
I recently did a factory reset, and with the reset had to do all the updates. One of those updates from the HP Support assist was IDT High Definition Audio CODEC version 6.10.6381.0 on driver stwrt64.sys. And with that update i no longer have sound. When i put the cursor over the sound icon on the toolbar it says no headphones or speakers are plugged in. I already tried disabling and re-enableing the AMD HDMI output audio device through the control panel menus, didnt work, also it says its not plugged in. When i go into the hp supprt assist, to troubleshoot, to audio and sound, the status on the IDT says Error(52).
    How do i fix this?

    Hello everyone,
Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!
It would appear that you two are experiencing different issues. I will definitely address both of you!
First, I feel it would be wise to perform a System Restore. You can return the computer to a point before the issue existed. Here's how to do it: Using Microsoft System Restore (Windows 7)
If that doesn't work, then look at the below suggestions:
*Before any real troubleshooting, please put your computer in a clean boot state. This should prevent third-party programs from interfering. This document provides information on how to do it: How to perform a clean boot in Windows*
*Next, unlock a new Administrator account, so we can troubleshoot on a clean account. Open Command Prompt as Administrator, and hit Enter after typing the following: net user administrator /active:yes
You will be able to log out of your current user account, and log into the Administrator one.
*Finally, make sure all of your Windows updates are complete:
    1. Open "Windows Update" in Control Panel.
    2. Click "Settings", and then click "Install optional updates".
    3. Next, click "Check for updates".
If that step doesn't work, then look below for the appropriate troubleshooting:
@epicness50 , you need to perform all of the steps in this document: No Sound from the Speakers (Windows 7)
Also, since there is a Device Manager Error 52 issue, you may want to look here for additional information and suggestions: Code 52: Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device
*The above Microsoft document is for Windows Vista and Server 2008, but the troubleshooting can be done in Windows 7.
@LENNY12 , you mentioned you uninstalled and reinstalled Support Assistant. However, I'm going to ask you to do it again, but with a little more troubleshooting to address what could be causing the issue.
Source of the troubleshooting is my own post: HP Support Assistant Windows 8.1
Uninstall your version of Support Assistant in Control Panel, Programs and Features, then restart the computer.
Solution: Download Support Assistant from its own special home
    1. Click on the following link: HP Support Assistant. It will bring you to the following page:
    2. Click on "Notebooks, laptops, netbooks " under "Download HP Support Assistant". It will prompt you to download it. So save it, then run it AS ADMINISTRATOR.
If either of you are still experiencing issues,  I would perform a System Recovery to reinstall Windows. This will rule out which of the above options are to blame.
First, you should backup your data. I will provide information on how to do that: Backing Up Your Files (Windows 7)
Once this is done, it is safe to do the System Recovery. Here is some information on how to do this: Performing an HP System Recovery (Windows 7)
Thanks and have a great day!

    Hi Bida,
    Welcome to the HP forum!
Great job on supplying you product number and Operating System!
HP has not tested Windows 8.1 on your notebook, therefore does not supply recommended drivers.  Therefore it is unknown how it will perform.
Downloading or Updating Software and Drivers for HP Computers  Please note the section on "Getting updates from the maker of the software or hardware"
When I checked the HP Pavilion dv6-6156ef Entertainment Notebook PC Drivers, I do not see a wireless button driver.
Windows 8.1 does have a built in troubleshooter you could try.
Press the Windows  key + C to open charms
Type  Control Panel in the search bar and press enter
    Open the Control Panel

Hello, I booted up my computer today to no sound. The last time I used it, which was two days ago, the sound worked perfectly, but now the sound is not working at all. I have tried headphones and speakers, nothing works. I have tried to do a system restore to when it last worked, tried installing a new driver, and I am still getting no sound. It could be that I installed the incorrect driver or didn't install it correctly. Thanks in advance for any help, I will put my system info below.

I'm trying to use my hp pavilion dv6 1050us notebook with a TV Philips model 40PFL8605D using a HDMI cable but nothing function: can't get the image displayed at computer on the TV display. The HDMI cable  and the same TV were tested using a ASUS notebook and everything worked all rigth: video and sound. Then I concluded that the only possible source of problem is my HP pavilion dv6 1050us notebook.
    Can I get some help?

    Hi (:
I frequently play The Sims 3, I have all, but myabe 3, extensions. And I have a Pavilion dv6-6c15nr Entertainment PC. Now I was wondering, is this a bad idea?  Occassionally, my games will freeze and even just completely glitch within the game, sometimes unallowing me to save. It's very frustrating, especially when you get so far. My question is would it be better to just get a gaming pc and leave this one to surfing the web and doing school work? Or is this one good, and can I download or buy something to help my computer maintain or improve its performance?
