Pavilion dv6000 Audio Device disappeared

Earlier today I was listening to music and everything was fine, but then all of a sudden my audio stopped playing.  I thought it was just muted so I clicked on my sound in the taskbar and it is telling me "No Audio Output Device is installed."  I have tried everything to my knowledge that I know would fix it but to no prevail.  Ive have searched the forum and on google for any explanation and possible fix but I have found nothing.  So, if anyone could help me with this problem it would be greatly apprieciated.

I too am having this problem.  I own a HP Pavilion dv6809wm and after installing windows 7 my audio device is no longer detected as well as my DVD drive.  I have tried re-installing the drivers, locating, downloading, and installing the correct drivers for my sound device; which has caused the speakers to work until the user logged off or the computer was shut down, but this work around no longer works at all.  I have not been able to find a work around for the disk drive.  Since the warranty has expired HP is unwilling to provide assistance, so I am now working with Microsoft to try and fix these problems, they are helpful in assisting in helping me at this point, but have been told repeatedly that if it turns out to be something besides a faulty installation disk of windows 7 they will not be able to assist any further.  Any help at all would be great!
Thanks in advance.

  • (HP Pavilion g6) Audio devices are not installed

    Hello,
I cannot view my audio devices.  "No audio devices are installed" appear in my sound manager.  I have right-clicked and ensured that I can view disabled devices.  Is there a way to reinstall the sound devices for my HP notebook?  Also, is there anything to check before I look into reinstalling them?
    Thanks!

Try a hard reset, works sometimes.Disconnect all external devices first.
    1-remove power cord and battery
2-press power button for 30 seconds
3-reinstall only power cord for first startup.
    4-power on

  • HP Pavilion notebook - audio keeps disappearing a few minutes after starting pc

Hello everyone. This is my first post in this forum.
Since about a month, I've been having an annoying problem with my notebook's audio. Quite often, when I turn on my pc, my audio disappears after a couple of minutes. Sometimes there's no sound right from the start. The mute button stops working, because normally there's an orange light when you turn off the pc sound, well that doesn't happen anymore. Windows Media Player can only play such formats as mp4, avi etc with no sound in the background. However, it can't open mp3 files at all (error message shows up). Videos on websites such as youtube stop playing after a few seconds (although the buffer is still running, and of course there is no sound).
So basically, there's no type of audio coming from the speaker (like error sound, message sound, command sounds etc...)
I tried connecting headphones and external speakers, but no luck.  I updated my audio driver, but it didn't help.
Furthermore, when I launch audio test from Control Panel, an error message shows up which says "Device currently used by another application. Please close all the applications that are using the device, and retry."
My notebook is quite new. It's an "HP Pavilion 15 - e070sl"
The whole thing is driving my crazy. It's really frustrating. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

  • Built-In Audio Devices disappeared

    Greetings everyone,
I got a big audio problem.
The Built-In Audio Out and Inputs of my iMac (2011) disappeared in system preferences and i noticed the coreaudio process has high CPU usage all the time. Even force quitting isnt helping, as it restarts immediatly.
Furthermore my computer is hanging on shutdown:
If it's entering sleep mode, the display goes black but fans and HDD are still spinning, but I cannot do anything else and I have to do a hard reset. The same happens when i'm restarting or shutting down. It just won't shut off completely (I guess because of that hanging process)
I booted another OS X installation and everything worked fine, so there's clearly an error somewhere in my current OS X installation. But restoring from a Time Machine backup didnt help.
Are there any files/caches I have to move to trash or anything else to fix this problem without having to reinstall OS X once again?
    Thanks.

  • HP DV6-3010ax HDMI device disappears

    Hi,
I have a dv6-3010ax and when I first log in, I can see the HDMI device in playback devices, but when I plug in the HDMI cable between the PC and my panasonic TV, the screen flashes off and on again (so it now mirrors to the TV), but the HDMI audio device disappears - so I don't get any HDMI audio.
I've updated to latest HP bios and ATI drivers, but it keeps disappearing every time I connect the cable.  It never reappears, until I log off and on again.
    Anyone got any ideas?
    Thanks

Fixed it - if I plug in the HDMI cable, then log off windows and log back on, it works.  Alternatively, if the laptop is shut down and I plug in the HDMI cable and boot up, it is fine.
But if I unplug it or let the computer go to sleep, it stops working again (i.e. disappears from the audio device list).

  • HP Pavilion dv6618ca (dv6500) - NO AUDIO (Audio Device either disappears or no sound)

    Hi There,
I hope someone can help me. I have been struggling with NO AUDIO problem for last 4 weeks. Intially I had a big red cross in front of voice control button. I had to reformat and installed original softwares using recovery.
Now audio is available when system first boots but disappears within 5 minutes. Sometimes it does randomly come back and other times the whole device disappears and red cross appears again infront of volume control.
I have installed Audio drivers from HP site. I have also used microsoft FIX IT. Which does fix it but as soon as you restart the voice goes within 5 minutes. I have also used HP healthceck and Norton system dyognostic to check for any issues.
PC is clean as it is fully formated and only HP original OS softwares are installed + Windows updates.
I suspect that windows update may be responsible for the loss of sound but don't know which update and how to resolve.
    Please help
    Many Thanks in advance

  • No sound device - HP Pavilion dv6000: p/n: KB354EA#UUW.

    Hello.
My fathers HP Pavilion dv6000 suddenly lost it's sound. When i try to press the sound-icon on the bottom (next to the clock) i it tells me that aren't registered any hardware changes, and when i hold the mouse over it, it says that there isn't installed a sound-output-device.
I'm not really smart on computers, so I was hoping that you guys could help me.
    Thanks!

    Hi
You have a couple of options as I see it.
Go to device manager and uninstall the Sound driver and restart and unit will install the driver automatically.
Try doing System restore to the date when the unit was working fine.
Try to update the driver from hp.com website for Audio & Bios.
Let us know how it goes!

  • No audio devices installed? (Pavilion g7-1318dx Notebook Windows 7)

Someone please help me out with this, I would be so so soooo grateful.
From out of the blue my Pavilion g7-1318dx Notebook running Windows 7 won't play any audio at all. It says that there are no audio devices installed. I've been reading other posts on this forum for a couple days now, and none of the options have worked for me. Prior to the audio disappearing I haven't updated anything or installed anything new (though yesterday, I did install a few updates hoping that maybe the problem was that something was outdated... but it wasn't). I did a system restore, and still nothing. Also, I can't record sound either (obviously) as it's telling me there are no audio devices installed.
I ran the device manager, and under sounds, video, and game controllers the only audio device listed is AMD High Definition Audio Device (which is what my notebook uses for audio apparently, when I connect to my TV which, incidentally, works fine!) but the IDT HD Audio Driver is not working at all. I've tried reinstalling the driver, but I get an error every time and it says it's unable to install it. The answer might be a simple one to someone out there, but it eludes me.
So....anyone out there who can help me? Please.

You can try few more steps..
    i) Completely uninstall IDT first from control panel and then download it  from here
Temporily disable the anti-virus while re-installing the IDT.
ii) Run HP Support Assitant and check if any HP updates are pending..like BIOS Update..
Recently i came across a similar issue where the sound disappered after a adobe flash update also. So you an try uninstall/reinstall flash and check also.
    Let me know what happens..
Also if nothing works then the last step would be to perform a recovery (factory reset). If problem continues after recovery also the it has to be a hardware issue..
    Note:
If you have HP Support Assistant installed on the computer(The Blue Question Mark) then open it ==> Complete all pending Updates & Tuneups==> Restart and Check. It may solve your problem
Although I am an HP employee, I am speaking for myself and not for HP.

  • AMD High Definition Audio Device Not Plugged In (HP Pavilion dv6-6b09sa)

I have just booted up my HP Pavilion dv6-6b09sa (running on Windows 7) laptop to find that the sound icon has a red cross next to it and it claims that 'No speakers or headphones are plugged in'. In the Control Panel it states that the AMD High Definition Audio Device is Not Plugged In. As far as I know, I've done nothing to cause this.I have already tried:System restore to yesterday at 10pm;Instalation of a TDI driver from the HP website, however I do not know how to edit/disable/delete the old driver. I'm completely clueless about these things. Please help, I'm at a complete loss.

This happened to me too. I own an HP Pavilion dv7-1135nr (Windows Vista). The internal hard drive stopped working, I took it to a computer repair shop, they put in a new internal hard drive, asked Microsoft for a key code and jump started the laptop. I took it home with me yesterday, watched a few videos and wondered why the sound wasn't working. The volume light on the laptop base was indicated as red (which meant the volume was off, even when the volume on the laptop screen was on). The only way I was able to hear sounds from videos was when I put my ear phones on.
I read somebody say that this happened to them and they restarted/rebooted their computer. I did that and, expectedly, it didn't work.  I came across this page, opened up "Device Manager," opened up "Sound, Video and Game Controllers." Right-clicked the "IDT Device" and then uninstalled it. My laptop then restarted and thankfully the sound was back up. I didn't need to download anything or right click the "IDT Installer" or "Right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button" or any of that. It thankfully came back without me having to do any of that. I restarted/rebooted my computer to see if it was a fluke, and thankfully it worked again.  Now I don't have to use my ear phones. My ears didn't like being pumped with sound, even when it was on low. My "Digital Display Audio" is still not checked green. It says that it's "not plugged in." But hopefully I won't run into this problem again in the future. Because if I'm a week or two or a month removed, the repair people I initially went to for my internal hard drive problem, will say that this was a separate issue caused by me and will charge me extra, when it was in fact caused by them (not maliciously of course, I guess this kind of thing happens when you replace a hard drive, as do a lot of other things which I'm not beginning to see). Thanks DavidPK.

  • No Audio Devices - HP Pavilion dv6700

    Hello,
I would like to start by stating my computer specs. It is an HP Pavilion dv6700 (Entertainment Notebook PC), model dv6815nr, Windows Vista Home Premium.
Today I installed the newest version of Adobe Flash Player, which caused Firefox to crash. So I downloaded uninstall_flash_player.exe from the Adobe website. Then I downloaded the archive of Flash Player 10, and installed the previous version. When I restarted my computer to allow the changes to take effect, it would not restart correctly. The power light would come on for a few seconds, it would seem like it was starting up, and then it would crash, only to try to restart again. It repeated this process until I held down the power button to manually shut it down. After a while it was able to start up correctly, only this was when the audio problems started.
First, it said "HP QuickTouch On Screen Display has stopped working." I initially thought this was the main problem, but I realized having no audio devices installed was the real problem. When I hovered the cursor over the audio symbol on the bottom right of the screen, I got this message:
When I right click the audio symbol and click playback device, it says "No audio devices are installed."
I opened the Recovery Manager and reinstalled the "HDAUDIO Soft Data Fax Modem with Smart CP" since it seemed like it might be an audio driver or something. That didn't work, and neither did a system restore to two days ago (5-29-09). I also tried installing something from "RealTek" which I think was an audio driver, but that did nothing.
I tried to find an audio driver on the HP website but I didn't see anything related to audio.
Can anyone help at all? Thanks for any advice.

Try system recovery.. I just did it and it worked! You should restore your computer to an earlier time before the sound stopped working..  And you can do that by going to the control panel. GOOD LUCK !!!
