Pavilion dv6661se. i have lost all audio. i get prompts that say 'no audio output device'

How can I download the driver for the sound card that I have. I also do not know how to look-up what sound card I do have.

In System Preferences>Sound do you have your internal speakers set as the output source?
You may have toggled on optical output with the Toslink cable - check to see if there's a red light coming from the port. If so, quickly plug and unplug a set of headphones for a number of times to see if you can toggle the switch back from optical to the internal speakers.

I don't know what has happened, but I can't get any audio out from Soundtrack Pro anymore.
Even if I open previous projects, and try different audio outputs such as Built-in Out, Built in Line Out or my MOTU 828MK2, there's no audio, even though the meters show audio signal.
It worked a month ago, but even the projects I did one month ago are now silent.
In Final Cut Pro I have no problems getting the audio (thru my 828MK2) but when I switch to Soundtrack there's no sound.
I would have assumed they all use the same Audio/Midi setup?

go to settings, general, sounds, and check the volume. if the sound there is full blast, try going to settings, music, volume limit, and make sure that's turned off. now if that fails to work, try reseting the ipod by holding down the home button and the sleep/wake button at the same time until the apple logo appears on the screen. if that doesn't work restore your ipod on itunes.

Have you got notifications muted ? Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad, or via the taskbar : double-click the home button; slide from the left; and it's the icon far left; press home again to exit the taskbar. I have lost audio on both my internal and external speakers. I have checked the System Preferences when my external speakers are plugged in it is acknowledged. When using internal speakers they are also acknowledged. Sound volume on Preferences is on and fully high. The sound buttons on the keyboard do not work and the sound level is now locked in at full sound and cannot be adjusted using the keys. The System Preferences shows that Mute is now checked and I cannot uncheck it. What should I do to get my sound back both internally and externally?

Repairing the mysteriously muted Mac
The background on the issue is that there’s a small sensor switch inside the headphone port. When you insert a headphone jack, the sensor understands what's what and changes the sound output setting to Headphones. If you insert a jack for digital audio output, the device changes to Digital Out. When you remove the jack completely, it should read Internal Speakers.
The spirits tell me that there’s a very good chance that you recently had something jacked into this port—a set of headphones or a cable leading to powered speakers, for example. When you removed the jack, something in the port prevented the sensor from tripping correctly. That’s why you see Digital Out instead of internal Speakers.
The solution is to force the sensor to do its job. The safest way to do that is to simply run a jack in and out of the port a few times. Much of the time, this takes care of the problem by correctly tripping the sensor. If that doesn’t work, there may be gunk in the port. Before turning to more invasive techniques, get a can of compressed air, attach the small tube that fits the nozzle, and blast a few shots of air into the port. With any luck, that should dislodge the gunk and the port will operate as it should.
If that doesn’t work, find a foam-tipped swab that fits (electronics shops generally carry them), dip it in rubbing alcohol, and gently insert it into the headphone port in an attempt to wipe away any stubborn gunk. I recommend foam rather than cotton swabs because the cotton variety might leave threads behind. (This same technique works well with misbehaving headphone ports on devices such as iOS devices.)
It's possible that gunk has nothing to do with it. Rather, it may be that the switch just needs a subtle nudge. If a jack or swab doesn't work, I've heard of people successfully resetting it with a deft poke of a toothpick.

I set up iCloud on pc, ipad etc was asked to copy contacts to iCloud and have lost all the settings and groups that they were in for over 2000. Can I get it back?

I have Outlook on my PC and thought it would be smart to have my contact in the Clouds where my ipad, work pc, home pc would be updated etc. So I was asked I though to copy my contacts from Outlook to iCloud. Instead it moved them and in doing so lost all the settings like Categories and reset how they are listed (used first name because have a lot of drs, phds, msws etc) now listed with last name and so I have a lot of people with md as last name. This is an organization list and is about 2000 contacts so having to go back and fix it will be a nightmare and unnecessary work.
Is there any way I can fix this easily instead of correcting each contact one at a time?

If this has just happened recently, try running Windows System Restore. If you have Norton Internet Security installed, you will need to disable Nortons Tamper Protection as shown in Step 2, on the link below.

Once you've done this, shut down the PC. Windows System Restore is usaully best run in Safe Mode. Tap away at f8 as you start the PC to enter Windows Recovery Console. Use the arrow keys to select Safe Mode and hit enter. When this has loaded, from the Start Menu, click All Programs, click Accessories, click System Tools and launch System Restore. Pick a restore point at least 24 hours before the audio issue and then proceed with the restore process. When complete, Windows will reboot as normal.

I've lost all audio output from all projects on logic.

All the other internall audio ( Itunes, movies, videos) works so I know it's not the jack or wiring. Ive been to preferences> audio and re set it to internal audio1 and even tried setting it to pre sonus fire studio output but no help there switched it back and still nothing. It seems to be configured on logics audio preferences too but no output! All the level meters are bouncing but no sound! PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN!! Thanxz.

I'll try anything but the problem is that all projects are not coming out and wouldn't the solo buttons be limited to each project? If the solo is stuck on one song it shouldnt be affecting all other songs right? but who knows,,,IT CANT HURT TO TRY!! Thanks for your input and I'll let you know!!

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).

I have a HP Pavilion dv7-1444 running Windows Vista 64 bit. I have lost all sound. There's a red x next to the speakeer icon on the bottom right of the screen. I have reloaded drivers, checked Device Manager, tested sounds, HP Support Assistant says I have the latest BIOS installed. I tried a one prong earphone in the two prong headset and got no sound. The mute button and the volume slider don't work either.
Please help me if you can.

Go to the link below.Enter your Product Number as listed on Service Tag attached to bottom of notebook (may be under battery). You can also get the Product Number by pressing Fn + Esc key. After entering PN, click Next ,then choose Software & Drivers.On the next page use the dropdown to select your OS (probably Windows 7 64bit). A list will populate with drivers. Hi there,
You're running an old version of Safari. Before troubleshooting, try updating it to the latest version: 6.0. You can do this by clicking the Apple logo in the top left, then clicking Software update.
You can also update to the latest version of OS X, 10.8 Mountain Lion, from the Mac App Store for $19.99, which will automatically install Safari 6 as well, but this isn't essential, only reccomended.

I forgot to include in my post that I had downloaded the new flash after the "no audio" began and it did not help. The problerm began some time after I installed OS 10.7.4.

Lots of my clips of videos have lost their audio in the event and project.

I have been making a video using iMovie and when it started everything was fine and as it should be. I have been adding clips to the project and all seemed fine. Some clips get rejected and moved to the trash to clear some space on my hard drive. I have just played the video back and lots of the clips have no audio over them, even though they did when they were imported. The clips that have lost the audio aren't ones that have had parts rejected and I have tried all of the help topics that iMovie has to offer. Can anyone help me work out how I can find these again because these clips are very important. Please help, I'm really not impressed. Thanks

The audio should still be there. Try opening the clip inspector to the audio tab and set the volume slider to 100%.
Also, make sure you don't have the ducking feature in use. That will cause all other clips to be muted while the ducking is on.

Lost all audio in iMovie '09

I have suddenly lost all audio while working on project in iMovie '09. It started when a newly imported video had no audio but my saved project still had its audio. Then the problem spread to my project also. Now I have no audio at all. I've checked the obvious like mute, computer volume...etc. Any ideas out there?

No. I did not enter my Admin password. I tried to open the iPhoto library from my User -> Library -> Pictures folder. It said something like "Needs to upgrade.. Upgrade now?" Then, I opened iPhoto and had iPhoto '09 but no new pictures.
So, I read some forums online and tried to find the Originals folder in my iPhoto library (show package contents) folder. However, showing the package contents was not an option. Fortunately, I back up files and the iPhoto library saved on my external hard drive a few months ago has pictures and the originals folder. I am, however, still missing a few months worth of photos.
This is what I know:
When I accessed the iPhoto library file from in User -> Library -> Pictures, it only contained pictures from several years ago. It apparently accessed a different iPhoto library. Maybe that's what the upgrade was for?
But if it was merely an upgrade or change of some kind, the new pictures should still be present somewhere in the hard drive, which does not appear to be the case.
And, if iPhoto and the iPhoto library are linked, then the library should not change depending on which way I accessed it.
