Pavilion dv7 horizontal lines - Display going bad?

DV7-7025dx bought in 2012. Today, on boot, horizontal lines right from the moment I turn it on. Lines are so bad I can barely see anything. Booted into windows - lines still there. After a few minutes they cleared up. Powered down, removed battery, reset bios, rebooted. Still there. Is the display/adapter going bad?

I came across your post about the Notebook, and wanted to assist you! I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion dv7 Notebook and issues with the screen flickers and going pink and green. Here is a link to a document that will help you troubleshoot the image on screen flickers, has lines or distorted colors. Have you connected a monitor to the Notebook to check if it happens there as well? Here is a link on how to clean the fans as this could be an issue. If this does not display on the Monitor it could be a connection issue with the LCD screen or the inverter cable. Please let me know how this goes. Thanks.

Is my Video Card/Display going bad??

My display has 30-50 vertical columns, from top to bottom, across the screen. Within each column, are numerous vertical lines, like bar codes, that are pink in color. This situation happens at start up before any applications are opened. The computer(apps) works like normal, mail, safari, etc, except these lines are always in my view, on the desktop or window/page. If I "grab" a page to move it , then the whole page turns pink. If I click off of the page and then return, the page looks normal again, except for the columns of pink, vertical bars.
Is this my display going bad or video card?? I have the ATI Radeon X850 XT video card. If it's the video card , do I replace with a new old stock (ATI Radeon X850 XT) or can I replace with a newer, better card??
Any help GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!!! I'm Very Novice at this!!

Sounds very much like a baked graphics processor.
Have you tried cleaning the dust from the card?
Is the fan on the card clean and rotating freely?
If you are at all mechanically inclined, removing the fan and reapplying thermal compound is worth a try before laying out serious cash.
As for replacement, the X850XT was the top card ever offered by Apple.
It is also THE most rare.
Because of this, they command high prices:

Probably the best thing to do is take it to an Apple Store or AASP for service. You can try running Apple Hardware Test in Extended mode however I think any errors will require service. You may need to run AHT 3 or more times for it to find errors.

Pavilion 23fi horizontal lines

hi, i have a HP 23inch monitor. Was working really well until I noticed blurry and horizontal lines to the left of the screen.
About 6 inches left to right. Centre and right of screen is still very clear.
Please help, how can i fix? Thank you.

If the unit is out of warranty, it is out of warranty.
Very few electronics devices are delivered with more than a one year warranty. Some high end notebooks do have two year warranty included with purchase. That is the de facto standard in the electronics industry.
It is unfortunate, but there is nothing that we in the support forum can do to help you with this. This is not a business unit of HP, nor are we employees. We are volunteers.
You can contact HP directly and inquire about about of warranty support for your display.

IMac display going bad, can I connect a MBP to it in some way so that I can transfer files?

I need to get some files off of an old iMac. This iMac is model that has the white half-round base that looks sort of like a lamp.

The display is very garbled, I can only read about half of the scene and this part that I can read is distorted.
I've got a 2006 MBP and a new 2012 MBP that I can use to connect to it. Can I connect either of these in some way (firewire or ethernet or some other way) so that I can see it's HD on my MBP and copy the files over?

The older MBP I have has firewire 400. It's a core 2 duo, I think 2006 was the year it was made.
So, I should be able to connect my older MBP and the iMac in target disk mode and see the iMac's HD on my MBP's screen. This is what I hope can be done becuase I can't really see much on the iMac's screen.

Overheating Hp Pavilion dv7

My laptop hp pavilion dv7-7004sl , is overheating very bad this month , june and i don`t know why.
*Procesor ( Intel Core i5-2450M ) : Up to 90
*PCH : Up to 90
I bought an cooling pad and cleaned all the fans for the laptop, and is still overheating.
Is this a good method for PCH temperature ?

Pavilion Dv7 7023; some serious issues. Help needed.

DV 9000 series has same problem. Apparently so do most of their Laptops. My wife and kids have all been burned by haveing the system on their laps. I only use at a table and had to build a special base to raise the system off the table
to allow all vents to be clear 2 inches.
I had them send me restore disks for other reasons. Now my bios says "Not Vista".
If I was you, I would cut my loses and move to an other manufacturer. get the extended warrenty and keep it up to date
Hp is no longer even on my list of possible product purchases. Their products and if you want that, support service, suck.

Pavilion dv7-1245dx caps light and num lock light blink

Got a Hp pavilion dv7-1245dx. When going to start the computer after hitting the power button the all the lights come on on the volume bar, the fan runs and then the caps light and the num lock light start blinking. I can tell if there is a specific number of blinks in a sequence or if it is just one blink repeatedly. This computer is less than 2 yrs old. Please help

I have already tried all the powering down options and nothing is helping. I really need this thing!

Horizontal lines on imac display, video card going bad?

I have horizontal lines and a triangular shaped artifact on my 24 inch Imac display. This happens after quite awhile of use, so I am thinking it might be the video card is about to go. Also, have issues with viewing flash videos, the browser (safari) will just quit responding, sometimes it will recover. Most times I have to reboot the machine. I believe all these syptoms are related. Any ideas?

Your graphic card is damaged. Unfortunately, the only thing you can do is to take the Mac to an Apple Store or reseller to get the computer repaired.
Both problems may be related, because Flash uses the graphic card and it often fails

Could be that your screen is damaged or dying. Only way to know is to bring the phone to Apple for evaluation.

Toshiba 46G310U turns on for a few seconds the goes black with a horizontal line

I have a Toshiba 46G310U that when it is first plugged up it will come on for a few seconds and show a great beautiful picture, then the screen goes dark with a horizontal line across the screen that eventually fades out too. Turning the TV off and back on does not help, If I leave it unplugged for 5 minutes with the source unplugged also, it will come on when plugged back up for a few minutes at the most then starts the whole turning dark with the horizontal line that fades completely out. I've aready replaced the inverter board, the T-con board, and now I am at a stand still because I can find any help with the problem for starters(Toshiba Tech support was NO help and was unwilling to listen to my problem), second I am thinking possible power supply problem but I am having problems finding the power supply board, the main logic board, and the two small narrow boards that the T-con plugs into above the LCD display. Display has to be good for the picture to be perfect before fading to dark. Back light is also good as I can see it when the display goes dark it still has a glow and with the back of the TV off I can see the actual back light panel shinning. Suggestions? No I won't call tech support back as it was a horrible experience dealing with the rude techs. Thanks in advance.

The tech at Toshiba support was rude and seemed more interested in what was happening in the office then my issue with the TV. I've talked to a local tv service shop and they had no clue about the LCD type of tvs. I just would like to know if it is the main logic/input board or the power supply board. Screen Distortion (Horizontal lines) Across Display

For quite some time now my Macbook display has had horizontal lines along the right side of it. These lines go from the very top to the bottom and are about an inch or two in width. Sometimes goes away when i have a Pages document open. But is constantly there otherwise.

If you have already had a case number with Apple for this issue and it is not resolved, you ought to be able to have it serviced. Call AppleCare and reference the old case number, and explain that the first fix did not fix the problem, and because you brought this to Apple's attention before your warranty expired, they should still do the repair for free.
You can test for whether it is faulty RAM by pulling out one stick at a time and testing whether the lines persist.

I RECENTLY BOUGHT A 13"RETINA DISPLAY MACBOOK PRO. IT IS SO DISAPPOINTING. THERE IS A HORIZONTAL LINE THAT APPEARS ON THE SCREEN AND DISAPPEARS.
