I recently upgraded my laptop from Windows 7 to Windows 10. The upgrade went smooth and everything appears to be running fine except for one anoying glitch. After approx. 2 min of inactivity my laptop atuomatically goes into sleep mode and logs me out. I have checked all my power settings/sleep settings/screen saver settings...etc and I have completed all the windows updates. I don't see any timers anywhere that require adjustment. Any help would be appreciated. Note: The laptop wakes up fine with no issues.

There isn't a lot that could be done, but by the end of it, the issue should be resolved Hopefully, the simple fix is creating a new power plan. Your current power plan may be incorrectly configured. This Microsoft website can help with all the details of this task: Change, create, or delete a power plan (scheme) If that doesn't help, then personally, I would reinstall the operating system. This will fix it, as it will address any software conflict or virus that could be causing this. First, you should backup your data. Well, it has been a long road on the Win 10 upgrade. At first I got the same error message as above, but after deleting the Dolby Advanced Audio v2 in Win 10 using Control Panel Programs and Features and rebooting, I got into the continual BSOD upon reboot. Here are the steps I took to at least get stable on Windows 10. First, I rolled back to Windows 8.1 using the advanced feature in the BSOD recovery options. Once back in Win 8.1, I deleted the Dolby Advanced Audio v2 using Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel. Then I downloaded the Win 10 update and re-installed it. Once that completed, I updated the Intel Graphics driver under the display adapters (on my G780 it is an Intel HD Graphics 4000, and the driver can be found at https://downloadcenter.intel.com/). Currently I am running version 10.18.10.4252 for my machine. Then, under the Device Manager, I updated the Conexant SmartAudio HD driver under the Sound, video, and game controllers. That driver is currently at 8.66.4.50 and was automatically downloaded from the web when I requested to update driver. I also changed several others settings such as Notify to schedule restart after updates are installed instead of automatic (under Settings --> Update & Security --> Advanced Options) and Do you want Windows to download driver software and realistic icons for your devices? --> No, let me choose what to do, never install driver software from Windows Update. After that, I shut down the machine, waited a moment and booted back up. I have no idea why this helped or if it is overkill, but I am stable and running without a fear of rebooting now. Hope this helps if someone else is having this same issue.

The webcam is listed in device manager under the Imaging devices
There you should see USB Video Device.
If its not listed there, then I think that the device malfunctions or its disconnected.
The webcam is an usb device and its connected to USB controller.
I read in different threads that in some cases the cable could be loose and therefore the webcam would not be listed in device manager.
I such case the display lid needs to be disassembled and the cables should be checked.
In my opinion its a job for an technician.

Skype does not recognize my headset after Windows 10 upgrade

Hi everyoneSkype stopped recognizing my headset after Windows 10 upgrade. I've tried the solution deactivating the "Allow applications to take exclusive control of this device" option. No success. The headset works on my other Windows 8.1 laptop and my Cellphone. Other applications, including Windows 10 microphone setup for speech recognition work. Here is something strange though. When I open up Skype audio tools and tap the microphone between thumb/finger Skype detects this and shows 4/5 green bars. Any ideas?

Your upgrade haven't changed the drivers properly.
1. Just go to Device Manager and delete the audio drivers.
2. Then restart your pc and switch on the internet.
3. Your drivers will be automatically installed by Windows Update.

Windows Pro upgrade with Hyper-V for Windows App development

I am just starting to develop my first windows phone app. I dowloaded Visual studio 2013 express on my windows 8 machine. I started to follow the Microsoft Virtual Academy, Develop Windows phone apps for Beginners with Bob Tabor.
Anyway, when i try to run the Emulator, it tells me i need Hyper-V which my version of windows doesn't have. Apparently i need Windows Professional. Anyway, this costs about £100 to upgrade. Also, for the emulator i am told i need 4gb of RAM.
Question 1: My laptop is an i5, 64bit machine, windows 8.1 normal edition, with 4gb of RAM. It says of which 3.88gb of ram is usable. Whatever that means?
The minimum requirement for the emulator is 4gb, will it work on my machine which apparently has 3.88 ?
Question 2: I already own a nokia windows 8.1 phone. A basic enough model. Instead of buying the upgrade for windows pro, is it a big hassle to run my test apps on that phone? How difficult is it to run a test build of an app on my phone? Can i run it via
the inside of visual studio? Or do i need to go to file explorer, copy and paste files over to the phone, disconnect it from the laptop etc. How many steps are involved? If its a load of hassle i might be safer to just bite the bullet and buy the Windows pro
upgrade.
(although i am aware the emulator can't test some things that the actual phone can..eg near field communication etc.)
Any advice?

It's not that big of a hassle to debug your app by deploying it on your phone. It's just a matter of choosing Device instead of Emulator when you start debugging in VS.
Some of the downsides are that your phone's screen must be on and not showing the lock screen, and the fact that you can only have a maximum of 2 apps installed on your phone for debugging purposes. If you start developing and debugging a third app, then
you must first uninstall one of the other 2 apps to be able to deploy the third app to your phone. To my knowledge the emulator does not have such a limit. I believe there's a paid developer account option available somewhere if you want to raise the limit
beyond 2 apps.
Other than that, being tied to a single resolution as Dave mentioned is another downside to using a device.

Yoga Pro 2 - No network connections/WiFi after Windows 10 Upgrade

Windows 10 upgrade completed OK but no network adapters appear in Windows settings and no network connections available. Updated Intel 7260 drivers (v, confirmed device was working properly, download and installed Windows 10 WLAN update from Lenovo, checked WiFi was enabled in BIOS, checked Airplane mode was off, still nothing. IPCONFIG just comes up blank, No network adapters showing in Network Settings. Reverted back to Windows 8.1 after 6 hours. Any ideas, anyone?

How do I re-install the Acrobat Pro I purchased online after Windows 7 upgrade.

I do not see an option to download the same program I purchased back in November 2013. Windows 7 upgrade will erase all of my programs, I will need to reinstall it. I have an older versions of other Adobe products, will I have to pay for them all over again?

Hi All, After upgrading to Windows 10, - The touchpad fails to work.- Unable to connect to Internet (Wireless/LAN).- Microphone/sound not working. Have tried installing the latest win 10 drivers from the Acer support website, still the issue persists. Any idea???

Howdy all, I have an acer w700 now running windows 10 pro, (upgraded from 8.1 pro). The only issue i found was that after upgrading, i would get the following error on booting the system; "Unhandled exception has occurred in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.
The wait operation timed out. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070102)." i found a solution to resolve this; Go into your Task Scheduler (by using Windows search). The Task Scheduler runs applications according to a schedule. The MEMS application is crashing Windows 10 (since it is doing Windows 7 related things). In the Task Scheduler Manager, go to the Task Scheduler Library and find MEMS_Schedule. Right click on that line and left click on Disable. Now restart your computer. This is an Acer issue, and until Acer issues an update, the MEMS_Schedule needs to be kept disabled. If Acer ever gets around to issuing an update for this, then you can re-enable the MEMS_Sschedule, the same way as diasabling it. Other than this annoying issue, the W700 runs very well under Windows 10...........so far.............

Display Not Filling Screen After Windows 10 Upgrade

After performing Windows 10 upgrade the display on the monitor has a one inch vacant area around the entire display. The resolution is set correctly to 1920 x 1080. There is no way of extending it through the display settings in the PC. The upgrade was made from Windows 7. I have checked via HP and there is no Windows 10 driver available for this monitor even though Microsoft qualified all software and hardware compatible for the upgrade. The adapter is version 8.970.100.9001, dated 1/13/15. I don't know if the graphics card, ATI Radeon HD 4350 connected via HDMI, has any affect on this problem. I would appreciate any help.

I have the same problem with this monitor on using my HP Pavilion dv6 with an ATI Mobility 4200 series chip. The problem is caused by the driver inserting overscan into the picture. I can't find a way to tell Windows 10 to remove the overscan, and the Catalyst Control Center is not compatible with Win10 either. I wonder if this monitor is reporting itself as a "TV" and that's the issue: if so, a driver update could fix it.

Restore Computer Back to Vista after Windows 7 upgrade and back again?

I got Satellite L505-S6946 that came with Vista Home Premium installed (I immediately made backup-5 disks in all). I got the free Windows 7 upgrade disk from Toshiba and upgraded my laptop. I messed up and did not make the backup disks like I should have. I had to reinstall windows 7 more than once (shouldn't let others use my computer!) and it hasn't seem to run quite the same after reinstall. I also noticed that for a driver Intel ICH9 Family SMBus Controller 2930 it says no device driver installed. I didn't notice that before. And I have tried to install it. Whatever the cause, to me it just doesn't seem to run the same. I was wondering if I could go back and reinstall Vista from my disks and then upgrade to windows 7 with my upgrade again (and this time make backup copy!)? I apologize in advance if this is a stupid question but I am not really computer savvy. Thank You. Jakey58

We have lots of machines running Windows Vista. (I'm typing this message on one.) They work just fine. I never even consider upgrading them to Windows 7.
Just because the Geeks don't like Vista and just because Microsoft wants you to use the latest and greatest doesn't mean you must upgrade.
I've heard some people put solar panels on the shady side of the house where the neighbors can see them.

Ideapad z400 touch after windows 10 upgrade

I am using the ideapad z400 touch and have been upgraded to windows 10. "Intel graphics card => I reinstalled the windows 8.1 driver from lenovo site", and my brightness problem is solved. I am facing the problem with the intel HD graphics 4000 display driver that I install from lenovo site. The driver seems like not fully compatible with windows 10. My screen will turn off after 5 minutes and when I move the mouse to wake it up I face the problem, the screen will freeze for a while and start to wake up and showed me the message "intel display driver.....has stopped responding and has recovered" This happens everytime after my screen turn off. Besides, my pc can't go to sleep mode. When I select sleep for my pc, the screen went black and it takes a long time to sleep but actually it is not, then it will shut down on its own. I have to press the power button to turn it on again. I think this problem is also related to the display driver. I have no problem with this display driver on windows 8.1. Will Lenovo come out the new driver that compatible with windows 10 from Lenovo site? The latest operating system they provide the drivers is untill windows 8.1. If they do not support the windows 10 driver I will roll back to windows 8.1 with no choice but I sincerely hope that I can keep using windows 10 on my pc I like it. Microsoft gives us one month time to roll back to windows 8.1. I don't know can I upgrade to windows 10 again if I found that Lenovo comes out their new drivers
