Pavilion G6-2208CA Keyboard not functioning

Two days ago my laptop keyboard all of a sudden stopped working. Whenever I press keys, nothing happens. This came about all of a sudden, just one minute working perfectly fine, and then the next none of the keys are functioning. I've gone through several resets and still no functionality.
I've done everything I can as it was listed on the site. I uninstalled and reinstalled my keyboard driver, as well as both a PC refresh and a complete factory reset. I also saw to reset the BIOS, but I can't even open the boot menu with an external USB keyboard.
I bought the laptop refurbished off NewEgg less than a year ago, and it worked perfectly until now.

I see that you notebook keyboard has stopped functioning,  When you connected an external USB keyboard you could not enter the bios.  This is most likely because Legacy devices have not been enabled in the bios.
As it is less than 1 year old, I suggest contacting HP support as it may be in warranty.  They can check that for you and provide options.
Please call our technical support at 800-474-6836. If you live outside of the US/Canada Region, please click the link below to get the support number for your region. Phone Assist Worldwide
If you would like to replace the notebook keyboard yourself, I am  sending a link to the HP Pavilion g6 Notebook PC Maintenance and Service Guide. Please not page 51 for a list of replacement keyboards and  the procedure.

  • Macbook Pro keyboard not functioning upon waking.

    Hello Apple Discussion Community,
Since installing Yosemite, I have been running into an extremely annoying issue that I hope will be addressed in a future update. So far, I have searched Google and the Apple discussion forums for someone else experiencing this problem, but have had no luck.
I do not know how to recreate the bug, as it occurs randomly. Sometimes, after my computer goes into a brief sleep (monitor turns black) or a deep sleep (monitor turns black, external hard drives power down), the Macbook Pro keyboard will not function at all upon waking. No matter what key I hit, it will not respond -- as if it is not plugged in, despite being a component of the laptop.
I have read about people experiencing issues with Wireless/Bluetooth keyboards, but so far not with the physical laptop keyboard.
If it does not function right after a deep sleep, when I have to enter a password to log into my account, I must log into the guest account and use the virtual keyboard to enter in my username and password so I can restart the computer. After a restart, it functions properly.
Has anyone else experienced this bug? Does Apple know about this issue and can I expect it to be patched in the future? Is there any advice someone can give me to prevent this from occurring anymore? Do I have to re-wipe my computer and complete another fresh install of OS X Yosemite?
I'd appreciate any advice or information!
    Thanks,
    Dylan

  • Troubleshooting MB110LL/A keyboard not functioning with macbook

Purchased the keyboard used - my first mistake, I'll admit - and the seller wants me to troubleshoot the keyboard before accepting a return/refund.
    What can I try?

Half the keys do not produce characters on screen. They simply do not function. I've attempted connecting it to multiple ports on my macbook as well as my cinema display to no effect.
I can attempt to plug it into a windows computer, but I do not have a second mac to test it on. As it's a usb keyboard, this should be sufficient to test, right?

  • Volume TOUCHPAD on KEYBOARD NOT FUNCTIONING

My volume adjuster on the top of the keybord is not functioning - I am using Pavilion dv6 1308tx

    Hi,
First, try a Hard Reset as follows.
Shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery.  Hold  down the Power button for 30 seconds.  Re-insert the battery, plug in the AC Adapter and start the notebook.
If the above fails to correct the issue, try using Recovery Manager to reinstall your IDT Audio Driver - the procedure for using recovery manager to reinstall Software and Drivers is detailed in the relevant document on the link below.
    Recovery Manager - Windows 8.
    Recovery Manager - Windows 7
    Recovery Manager - Windows Vista
After the reinstallation has completed, restart the notebook.

  • Hp pavilion dv4-2049us cpu not functional

Powered on successfully. Caps Lock and Number Lock LEDs blink once, meaning the CPU is not functional.
Replaced CPU with same make/model (AMD Athlon II M300) and have same error/problem.
Is this repairable or is it time for a new laptop?

    thank you for your input.
with the prices of a new MB vs. Cyber monday laptop deals, the choice was made for a new laptop.
as much as i enjoy working on PCs, this was an easy choice.
the broken laptop was an 'exclusive' HP deal from Office Depot/Max or whatever, about 2.5 yrs ago, and i think the new make/model will be an improvement.
plus, i'll be the one setting up everything, and will be able to add/remove the necessary software, etc.
    thanks again

  • HP Pavilion g4 Notebook Keyboard not working

    I own a HP Pavilion g4 1015dx Notebook PC.
Since the last few weeks my laptop was making a lot of noise and also was not performing well. So, I read an article in HP's website about cleaning the fan.
So, I disassembled my laptop and cleaned the fan. Then, I put together all the things as it was before(at least I think I did). Then I turned on the laptop and the keyboard was not working. I checked the device manager and it showed 'keyboard wroking properly'. So, once again I disassembled the laptop and I couldn't spot the problem. There's three plastic cable strips connected to the motherboard from the keyboard case. One runs to the power button and the other two run to the touchpad. So, I do not see any wires directly connected to the motherboard from the keyboard. In device manger, it shows the keyboard as PS/2.
I haven't lost any inner laptop parts and to the best of my knowledege I have kept the things as they were. Can anyone help me with this problem??
Yeah and one more thing... there was a BIOS update before me doing all these things.
    This question was solved.

never mind. I forgot to connect the keboard cable to the motherboard.

  • Lap top keyboard not functioning

how to regain the keyboard function only certain keys will type

    Try the following.
    Hard reset:
Shut down the notebook, unplug the AC Adapter and then remove the battery. Disconnect all the external peripheral devices connected. Hold down the Power button for 30 seconds. Re-insert the battery and plug in the AC Adapter.
    Power on.
Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to see if this will launch the Start-up Menu and then select F10 to enter the bios menu.
Press F5 to load the defaults (this is sometimes F9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key), use the arrow keys (assuming they work in this menu) to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
Press F10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
Let the system boot into Windows. Check the keyboard.
    Note--
If you find the keys don't work in the Bios menu, then this is likely to be a Hardware issue.

  • Macbook pro keyboard not functioning with bootcamp drivers

i was able to use all the apple keyboard functionality under window xp bootcamp. Bt after i install some other third party keyboard mapper, "did not like it" so uninstall it but then realise my original apple keyboard drivers funtionality is gone.
According to apple info page, it says
1)put in the OS X tiger install disk CD 1
    2) click on setup.exe
    3)Select repair drivers etc.....
BUt when i put in the CD above , there is no setup.exe to run? i did a seach & the system did not find it either? Pls advise, is the above instruction correct? i think i just need to either repair or reinstall or reactive just the apple bootcamp keyboard drivers only. i do not want to reinstall all the apple drivers as my graphc card drivers are loaded with laptopvideo2go latest driver which i like it so much in terms of gaming performance.

  • HT1492 Bluetooth Keyboard not functioning property

My bluetooth keyboard F10, F11, F12 are acting strangely and not corresponding to the volume at all, anyone had the same problem and if so any idea how this can be rectified?

    Confirmed & Resolved
After completing the FileVault2 encryption process I was able to restart and the Login Screen recognized the Bluetooth keyboard.  No other issues remaining. All of the other BT device continue to function properly, these include the Magic Mouse, Trackpad, and the extended Number Keypad.

  • Keys on wireless keyboard not functioning

I've just returned from a one-week trip to discover that a few of the keys on my Apple Wireless Keyboard are no longer functioning. These include the all-important DELETE key and also the double apostrophe key, though the comma key still works (comma key + SHIFT = double apostrophe).
Any ideas on how to fix this problem? I'm hoping it doesn't mean my keyboard is shot for good.
    Thanks,

  • Late 2011 MacBook Pro (Mountain Lion 10.8.2) backlight keyboard not functioning properly?

I have a late 2011 MacBook Pro running OS X Mountain Lion 10.8.2 and for some reason, the automatic backlight keyboard will not funtion as it should. When I have the "Adjust keyboard brightness in low light" option enabled in settings, and I turn on the lights, my backlight keyboard stays at full brightness. Then, when I turn off the keyboard, then the lights, the keyboard does not turn on! Correct me if I'm wrong, but I am pretty sure that this was a feature in the MBP lines.

Try a SMC reset.   Shut down the computer. Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected. On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time. Release all the keys and the power button at the same time. Press the power button to turn on the computer.   Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.

  • Bluetooth Keyboard not functioning well when waking from sleep in 10.8

I've got two different Macs I've recently upgraded to 10.8. Both have wireless keyboards that I use with them.
Both keyboards are now having problems when the computer is waking from sleep. Sometimes the keyboard
input is very slow (there's a long lag between a keypress and seeing the letter on the screen), or it shows multiple
characters when only one key has been pressed.
Unpairing the keyboard, and re-pairing it fixes the problem, but obviously it's annoying .
Has anyone else seen this issue?  Is there a fix?

So, my machine fell asleep, and when it awoke, I typed in my password to unlock OmniFocus and Yahoo Messenger. Then nothing, back to a machine I could move the mouse on, move windows around, but couldn't actually access anything. I noticed however, the Yahoo Messenger window was stuck trying to reconnect and the OmniFocus Keychain unlock window was still on the screen. Even with forcing Yahoo Messenger to quit, I could not get around the keychain window.
Knowning this, I checked for updates to Yahoo Messenger and Omnifocus, and low and behold there is an update for Lion compatibility for OmniFocus, and a more recent version of Yahoo Messenger. With these two upgraded, hopefully this will resolve any more  issues.
Seems 99.9% of all my issues with Lion were over software needing to be updated. Not a bad thing, but it takes time.

  • Keyboard not functioning correctly

Was using my mid 2009 Macbook pro 13 today with no problems when suddenly keyboard has become non responsive.
Track pad works fine but keyboard has become unresponsive. All keys do not work with exception of letters "q w e r t y u i" if these are pressed in word they will type in symbols and remain stuck.
I have used keyboard viewer to check and when the above keys are pressed they are shown as blocked all the time sometimes even showing 3 or more of the keys as pressed.  If I reboot all is ok until I press one of the above keys, the rest still remain unresponsive.
Tried PRAM reset but had no luck. Keyboard remain unresponsive if booted on safe mode.

    Please provide the following:
File Free -- after a normal day of usage and then also immediately after a batt-pop reboot
    Your specific device Model number
    Your Carrier
    Your device OS level
If your device OS is old and your carrier has released a new one, then that might help. But, I'm actually not hopeful...but it's worth a shot.
If you are still within warranty period, then seeking coverage under that would also be advised.
