Pavilion g6 2291sa not booting up

Hello,
I have a Pavilion g6 2291sa that is refusing to boot up. The power light is on, the wireless light is on and the caps lock light turns on and off but there is no sound coming from the hardrive and nothing coming on the screen. I have tried a hard reset (which worked when it first happened last week) but I'm getting nothing now. I don't know if the fact that a CD had been left in the drive when I first hard reseted it could have affected it (it was a plain old music CD) but I removed that and tried a hard reset. In other words - HELP.

Hi Robobert,
Thank you for your response.  I will do my best to assist you!
When you replied back to previous post and said no dice, I am not sure of the outcome.
Do you  still have power on the notebook?
If so do you see any blinking lights or hear any beeps?
Here are two documents, I believe may help. Please do any of the troubleshooting steps you can and reply  back with detailed  results,as while as the Operating System you are running, if   you require further assistance.
Troubleshooting Black Screen Displays with No Error Messages During Startup or Boot.
Testing for Hardware Failures (Windows 7, Vista).
Good Luck!

My HP Pavilion zv6000 will not boot/recovery need help

Disconnect the AC Adapter and Battery from the unit. Hold the Power button down for about 15 seconds. Then without the battery being connected, plug in only the AC Adapter on the unit and check if this powers on the unit. You can also try to reseat the RAM on the unit. You can find the removal procedures on the Service and Maintance guide on www.hp.com for your model notebook. In case the notebook does not work after these steps, it could possibly be a hardware issue on the unit.

  • HP Pavilion a1467c will not boot

Every time I try to start my Pavilion a1467c desktop the start button lights up, but the HDD light comes on yellow for about 30 seconds and then goes out. The display comes on with a blue screen with vertical white lines. The OS is Windows XP.  I suspect the power supply, but the fan on the power supplie runs. I am looking for advise from someone with more experience.

OK. Let me answer my own question. Other than the blue screen with vertical white lines, the PC was acting like I have seen other PCs act on prior occasions. Upon starting up the computer, all goes well except it will not boot up and the HDD activity light goes out. Most of the time was related to a bad memory card. I opened up the case on the desktop, removed the three memory cards, cleaned the contacts on the memory cards, and reseated them in the slots. I then closed the case, plugged the power cord back in, pushed the start button, and the PC booted up like normal. I have rebooted it several times while updating drivers. It has been running for the past two days without a glitch. Simple fix.

  • HP pavilion g6 do not boot nothing from any media

Hi, I have this notebook (HP Pavilion g6-1010sc) and one day it do not boot nothing from any media.
I tried to boot linux, winxp, original win7-x64 from internal and external USB disks, but unfortunatelly.
Notebook restarts or freezes after i tried to boot OS. Start of booting OS is correct, in original win7 it asked to run system normally or launch system repair. After i choose normal startup, its normally starting and only one point of WIN7 loading logo is shown and after this freezes.
When I run win7 installation from USB HDD or launch system repair, windows loaded files correctly, but after this, system restarts and capslocks LED blink two or three times and notebook startup again.
I have on second USB HDD linux ubuntu, which work on every computer correctly, but on this computer it freezes after small time.
I tested Back Track5 from DVD and during boot notebook restarts after one minute too.
I have tried to remove original HDD and try boot other USB HDD/DVD too, but no change. I tried other memory modules, but no change too.
System diagnostics of RAM and HDD is correct and no problem found.
Original bios on this notebook was F6.A and I tried older version F53 and only one change is, that in booting is shown more piece of WIN7 boot logo, and again freezes.
I tried disable automatic restart after system failure, but notebook it does not react on this, when it want to restart or freeze, it does it
    Sorry for my english

No, i do not think, that I have UEFI bios. After I pres ESC and after F2 or directly after turn on press F2, my diagnostic menu looks as this:
This diagnostic tool is stored on HDD, when I removed HDD, this tool can not to run.
(By the way, tests will be passed.)
And original system is WIN7x64 and on support page is only this system and cannot be selected other operating systems, e.g. WIN8, which fully supports UEFI.
This reply is no solution for me. I tested internal HDD in different computer and it is 100% correct, and RAM i tried to change with other 100% correct modules as I wrote on last post and no change.
This means, that RAM and HDD is correct. I want to know, whether is error in notebook's mainboard or bios or some different.
I think, I am not first with such problem, and I do not want know solution only, but I want also know reason.
Thanks for reply, but it is no solution for this problem, and is outside.

  • HP Pavilion 11 x2 not booting from USB

I have tried everything I can think of but my HP Pavilion 11 x2 will not boot from USB...I have Windows 10 currently installed on it and need to boot from USB to allow me to install a new OS on the machine.
I have gone into hte bios...(which I can see is a locked bios with very limited options)....I have turned off the Secure Boot option and have set the USB has the first boot device.
But when I hit F9 on startup...it just gives me 2 options:-
    OS Boot Manager
    Boot From EFI File
I have tried Boot from EFI File...but this does not work..
I know the USB is configured correctly as I can boot from it on my desktop computer.
How can I get this to work?
    Thanks in advance

    hi,
i stumbbled into your thread while i was looking for a similar answer for my Pavilion X2 10".
mine was delivered with win 8.1 with bing. it was alright to use, but i was unable to bring this machine to connect to my office domain. due to the lack of networking features which is only available in the pro or enterprise version of win 8.1.
i tried many ways to load in a win 8.1 pro os. the disc is authentic, keys are authentic, usb stick or optical drives; it makes no differences. the machine just refuse to boot into the usb disc / stick like all other previous system does.
there isnt an option for the bios to go into legacy mode. however there is an option to turn off the secure boot, but that does not gives legacy support to the make the system boot to usb.
i had probably done the same things you tried, no matter what setting is done to the bios, there is always only 'os boot manager' and 'ueif' when i hit boot sequence (f9).
had tired everything that i can think of, talking to HP was like talking to an answering machine, and they were asking the most bacis questions ... "were you able to select 'legacy boot' from the bios menu?" ... even when i tell them there isnt a legacy boot option in the bios ... they were too amature .
i concluded that the only way to boot to usb is to do it in uefi with secure boot off and encryption turn off in win 8.1 (else it will bring u to bitlocker).
but i am still unable to boot into the usb media to install win 8.1 pro today. i gave up.

  • Hp pavilion laptop will not boot up.

I get this error The file header checksum does not match the computed checksum. I'm not able to do anything with it after this screen, it will not boot to safe. What can I do?
I've removed the battery, which is dead anyway; laptop is plugged in.  Have tried different power source and that doesn't help.
There  is no blinking cursor, etc. I have tried F2 & ran that memory & hard disk diagnosis & nothing seems to be amiss. On the error log I really didn't see any errors.
I don't have recovery disc either but laptop won't boot to cd rom drive so even if I had recovery disc am not sure that would work.
Help please I'm at a loss now of what to do.  Thanks.

  • Hp Pavilion elite will not boot

My pavilion wont boot after an electrical storm. I think there's something wrong with the power button. There is a green light on the back that isn't flashing, but staying solid green. Nothing's happening when I press the power button, no fan, no response from the monitor.

It could be the power supply, shorted device of any kind attached (bad printer, flash drive, keyboard, mouse, network connection), memory problem, video card fan not spinning and the video card could have overheated, bad capacitors (rounded or leaking a brown or dark substance). The first thing you should do is make sure it is not under warrantee.  If it is, contact HP.  If it isn't, remove the cover and inspect the board for bad capacitors, fans not turning, disconnect all non essential items like the hard drive, DVD, floppy if you have one, all external devices (yes the monitor) and turn on the computer. Does it appear to stay on? If yes, shut it down by holding in the power button for 5 or more seconds or flipping the power switch on the power supply or pulling the plug. Connect the monitor and then one item at a time leaving the hard drive with your important data as the last item. If it didn't stay on. Try to use only one piece of memory and try each memory slot, try the next piece etc. If that doesn't work, the best guess is the power supply (if you have an ohm meter - test the power supply first).

  • HP Pavilion a6763w will not boot up..

I have an HP Pavilion a6763w that suddenly wont boot up.
I was using it just fine last night, went to use it this morning the screen was black and the CPU fan was running full blast, I could not get it to turn off, the only way to shut it down is to pull the PSU plug.
when you press the power button the fans come on very loud and full blast but never slow down, there are no beeps, you can hear the HDD spinning and the HDD indicator light stays lit solid, however there is no display on the monitor.
I have tried different monitors, i have tried removing and replacing the RAM, I have tried a new PSU, i even found a post about unplugging the multimedia reader but to no avail.
I wonder if anyone can tell me what they think the issue is so that i can replace that specific part of this computer as it was not cheap!
i am linking a video i posted to Youtube so that you can see the symptoms as i described them
    video

Let's try a little diagnostic work: Unplug the power connectors from drives and everything else you can, and see if you can get as far as the POST. If that works, then there must be something going on with one of the peripherals. If not, then the signs point to the motherboard itself.
You could always try resetting the BIOS, but that's a slim hope.

  • HP Pavilion Sleekbook 15 not booting up from USB (to clean install windows)

    Hello there,
I have been trying to install windows 7 ultimate using from USB on my HP Pavilion Sleekbook 15 (Model: b153cl) but unfortunately even after changing the boot order on bios to the USB device it's still not picking up the USB to clean install windwos 7.

  • HP Pavilion dv4 notepad not booting. NEED Help!!!

    Hi There,
I have HP Pavilion DV4. For some odd reason, when I turn on my notepad, I just get one flash of power light, volume indicating light, num lock light, caps lock light, and screen stays blank. Notepad doesn't boot but power light keeps flashing.
Initially I thought maybe my battery was low, so I plugged in the AC adaptor overnight and in morning it behaved the same way. I have tried all solutions suggested in blogs all over (including removing AC adaptor and battery and hold down power button for a minute, etc.) I am still not able to get my notepad to turn on. I have even tried to have it plugged in for few days, but I get the same thing from it.
I would greatly appreciate it if someone could help me out with this issue.
    Thanks.

Have you tried to start it with just the power adaptor connected and the battery removed? Have you disconnected all external devices that may be attached to the notebook?

  • HP Pavilion dv9207us will not boot up

This laptop is less than 2 years old.  One day, it locked up.  Upon hard reboot, nothing showed on LCD.  Connected an external monitor, showed bios coming up, etc.  However, the graphics were all messed up.  On the external monitor there are large green blocks, which obstruct the viewing area.  LCD panel of laptop does not show anything, however, it is powered, and I can see backlight.
With the help of external monitor, I booted up in safemode.  However, nothing doing as expected.  When tried to boot up in normal mode, I was informed to use recovery disc.  I tried to use a clean copy of the DVD that I had made, but did not work.  Error:  Restore7.exe application error.  Called HP who shipped me a recovery DVD - same results.
I ran diagnostics on RAM and HD.  They were both 100% pass.  I took HD out and plugged into an adapter - could back up data files, ran Norton Enterprise Antivirus, etc.  Everything was fine.  I was able to back up data and did not find viruses or trojans.  Finally, I put the HD from HP laptop into another laptop, and I was able to bring up the Vista Home Premium and operate it as I was able to operate it before.
Finally, I've researched on the net about this issue.  I've narrowed it down to NVIDIA 7600 card that is populated on the motherboard.  I've noticed that this was an issue on AMD processors of the similar dv9000 series.  My motherboard is Inteal Centrino Core Duo G73M Chipset with 256 MB Graphic Video RAM memory.
I've called HP and they inist that the problem has been isolated to AMD based motherboards.  I do not believe that!  I have the same symptoms in the same timeframe that others had experienced.
    What are my recourses?

Look at Reflowing which has become somewhat of an art. There are hundreds of videos on You Tube showing different procedures...if you know someone good at this sort of thing.

One day, the computer booted up so slow it never eventually came up. Then upon reboot, it never got past the beginning screen (black with blue circle rotating). We have no ability to get onto the computer anymore.

  • HP Pavilion s3500t will not boot

HP Pavilion s3500 failed to start.  The monitor is working but show no signal.  Switched RAM and the fan just runs at high speed.  What else can I do to try to get the sistem to start?

So did it prove to be a failed power supply or was it a motherboard issue?  It would be helpful if you would post, if you see this.
Also, why the change in RAM - is that supposed to be a solution to a motherboard issue?
Today my s3500t failed to provide any response at all to power, and the suggestion from support was also to unplug the power supply from the motherboard and try again, to see if it was not a power supply failure but a motherboard issue.
However the connection of the 24 cables to the motherboard from the power supply was far too tight to try and remove without risk to the motherboard, so we just went with a power supply replacement, which apparently it is 98% of the time.
The manual had no instructions to the support guy as to whether there was a way of removing the connector innvolving a release catch of some kind, so we assumed there wasn't.  Possibly a pair of pliers would have done the trick, at some risk to the motherboard.
