Pavilion g6 compatible wireless cards

Hi,
I bought a pvilion g6 and to my dismay found that it cannot connect to my router running in 5ghz mode.
Rather than buy an adapter i am looking to replace the wireless card for one that will do what i want, so my question would be what is a suitable card that will be compatible with this laptop?

Still searching...found this old HP forum post. This is not going to be easy...
http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Wireless-Internet-and-home/Supported-dual-band-cards-on-G62-373DX/td-p/...
The way I read this post is yes the 5100 is a dual band card but the part number is for the Centrino 1000, not a dual band card as I stated intially.
Now, I was remembering that my notebook (6930p) can come with that card and sure enough, there is a different part number for it
Intel Wi-Fi Link 5100 802.11a/b/g/n WLAN module for use in all countries and regions 480985-001.
The question is...will it work in your notebook? It should, but I can't guarantee it.
If you are willing to gamble a few quid, you can get used but working ones cheap on eBay UK
http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_nkw=480985-001&_trkparms=65%253A12%257C66%253A2%257C39%253A1%257C7...
This one listing is for a new one. If you go this route only get ones listed for HP computers. I see others listed for non-HP PC's.

  • PAVILION DV7 QUAD WIRELESS CARD UPGRADE?

My dv7 quad came with the intel centrino wireless n 1030. I tried to update it to the intel n 6235 and it wont boot up and tells me this module is not compatible. i have a picture and will try to upload. 1. iam looking for a wireless card that is dual band and 300mbps. if anyone can help my find this that will work that would be great.

I clicked the link you provided regarding the Bios. I already have the version (F.29) installed. I do not want to use an external dongle as that essentially brings the functionality and convenience of using my laptop back 10 years. Sorta like adding an external floppy drives to computers in the old days, or the God forsaken Ipads nowadays.  Taking a step backwards to say the least. In regards to the Broadcomm 4322, which particular part number are you referring to? A quick search reveals this is old technology that rarely works with Windows 7 and is replete with problems. Most people only get it to work with Windows XP, and only marginal at best. A search within HP own forums brings up similar comments. It seems users of Pavilion DV7's and DV6's are locked out of new technology even though our computers are only a couple of years old. Not something I was aware of, or expected when I purchased two top end HP Laptops at the time. Thanks for your replies, but it seems I'm still in the same boat as everyone else with these products. Surely there has to be a way for HP to allow their customers to upgrade to new technology? I can't believe HP deliberately relegated a large swath of their products to planned obsolescence? As I said before, this is a specific widespread problem as described in Amazon product reviews, HP forums, a a multitude of other technical help sites. I'm a big spender when it comes to computers, as many people are. This doesn't help your cause. Regards...

  • Mac Compatible Wireless Cards

Are there any wireless adapters that are compatible with a powermac G4? I put a PCMCIA card into the airport slot to see if it fit, when there was no Operating system or power on the computer, would that break it? But mostly, are there any compatible wireless adapters for the computer other than the airport card. If there are none, i may be able to get an airport card on craigs list but i'd prefer a new wireless adapter.
    Thanks, Bennett

As long as you have a compatible wireless router, Yes, everything should be immediate after setup in OS X.

  • Compatible Wireless Card

    Hey all!
I have a question, I bought a G4 Power Book in March 2004, prior till the Air Port Extremes release. I'm only wired for an Airport Card. I didn't buy one at the time because my college campus (Ithaca College) wasn't yet wired for wireless. I know live off campus and the campus has gone wireless, as has my house. I'd really like to get a wireless card, but I cannot seem to find the regular Airport card anywhere, and I can't find a third party wireless card either. I know of the D-Link DWL 122 that works, however, they no longer ship that one and I found it on Ebay but I'd prefer not to go that route, any ideas please?

    http://www.smalldog.com/product/32833
It may seem a bit expensive, but the internal AirPort card has several benefits, such as being totally enclosed in your computer. The AirPort card is fully compatible with all of Apple operating systems. If you go the D-Link route, be advised that several people have had some difficulties configuring it properly, the device is external and you would have to drag it around with you when you travel, and it relies on separately installed drivers which may require updating (by D-Link) whenever Apple releases a new OS update. Caveat Emptor.

  • Pismo 108Mbps compatible wireless cards?

I just recently purchased a Trendnet 802.11g wireless router capable of going 108Mbps. Are there any wireless cards that anyone's using that's 802.11g compliant and capable of going 108Mbps?
Also, the card needs to be 10.3.9 compatible.
    Thanks!

  • Compatible wireless cards

Does anyone know of a list I can get of wireless cards that are compatible with the AirPort Extremem Base Station?
Cause I have a new MacBook, but I gave my girlfriend my old Dell Inspirion. But it does not have internal wireless cause I got it about 4 years ago. So I'll need to get her a wireless card.
And I know it says any wireless card that is certified 802.11b will work with the AirPort Base...
But that is a broad range. Anyone have a list? Or know where I might find a fairly cheap wireless card that will work?
    Thanks.
MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   I'm new to Mac
MacBook   Mac OS X (10.4.7)   I'm new to Mac

    Hi Andy:
Any 802.11 B/G wireless cards will work with your Airport Extreme Basestation.
I've had good luck with the Linksys cards, but that would be a personal choice on what your select.

  • T430s compatible wireless cards

I ordered a thinkpad with Intel 2200 wireless card, however I would like to upgrade it myself to intel 6235 wifi card. will it work? Want to make sure it is not blacklisted in BIOS
6235 is not listed on parts list here but it doesn't contain 6205 either which was available upgrade during cutomization.

    127kmph wrote:
well 6235 has bluetooth 4.0 on it. not as a seperate module. besides, can i use the 3x3 configuration with 6300 when adding webcam to laptop restricted connections to 2x2?
I just configured one with the webcam and not only is bluetooth 4.0 a separate option but the option for the 6300 card was still selectable. There is no reason adding a webcam would remove the ability to use a wireless card with 3x3 MiMo. Your system should already have the required antennas in it also.

  • Pavilion g6-1d18dx Wireless card replacement?

Are the ones listed in the manual the only options for a replacement or are there other compatible cards out there. Specifically, would a better card from a brand on the list work?
Also, if those are the only options, which one is the best card to choose? I believe my system came with the broadcom adapter and I have a lot more trouble with it than some of my friends at school do with their wireless connectivity.

    Hi Drawinfinity,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your HP Pavilion g6-1d18dx Notebook  and wireless that is compatible for your Notebook.  The listing in the manual are what works for your processor and your HDD.

  • Pavilion dv6-1334us wireless card upgrade

Hello  I have scan the internet and was having difficulty on finding some information.  I am upgrading my wireless b/g mini pci card from the computer to an "n" card and wanted to know which type would be compatable with the dv6-1334us labtop.  I have tried a diffrent one and when i boot it up tell me that the card isn't compatable with the labtop.  When i place it in the extra pci mini slot it works fine.  but the antenna wires are way to short to reach there.  is there a way in the bios to make it compatable?  If not please let me know whicj make and models are?
    Thanks
    Roger

Well for this unit they have 3 different wifi cards that could work. The best place for you to look for parts that will work for your laptop is http://partsurfer.hp.com. Its best if you put the part number that is listed next to your serial number it will be some like NB199UA.

  • S10-3T - Replace Wireless Card in minipci-e slot

    Hi
I  removed the Atheros wireless card supplied with the S10-3T and replace it with an Intel one I have, and I got a message saying "unauthorised card please remove"... Also, the card I have is a minipci-e, so it will have to go into the slot saved for the 3g (could that be an issue?)
Do you guys know of compatible cards?
    Regards
    KK

The error indicates, installed card is not compatible. However, when you install Intel wireless card in place of Atheros wireless card it should be fix properly and in a same way as Atheros wireless card.
Kindly make sure you have updated BIOS as well, which is available on Lenovo website.
    http://consumersupport.lenovo.com/uk/en/DriversDownloads/drivers_show_3299.html
The compatible wireless card is Broadcom BCM4313 and Intel Centrino Wireless-N1000

  • Satellite P10-804 wireless card upgrade

    Hi,
Ive been trying to find a list of compatible wireless cards to upgrade my Satellite P10-804 but can't find any.
The the current wireless card is a Toshiba PA3171U-1MPC but it doesnt do the 802.11G standard and no WPA security.
Anyone know of what are good replacement cards that will work on my laptop?
Ive come across this one but Im not sure if it is compatible or not as I can't find any compatibility info for it: PA3416U-1MPC
    Thanks,
    Mark

    Hi
I think the PA3416U-1MPC should be compatible.
I mean the notebook supports the miniPCI Wlan card and the PA3416U-1MPC is a miniPCI Wlan card.
The WLan antenna behind the notebooks screen should be connected to the connectors placed on miniPCI WLan card.
The two connectors are marked with MAIN and AUX. Normally a white cable goes to the MAIN and a black to the AUX

  • Pavilion dv6 - 2090er - upgrade wireless card "b/g" to "n".

I have HP Pavilion dv6 - 2090er and I 'd like to upgrade my wireless card "b/g" to "n". What a model of wireless card is compatible to my system

    Hi:
Below is the link to the service manual for your notebook.
    http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01860375.pdf
Supported wireless cards can be found in Chapter 3, starting on page 3-6.
If I were you, I would get the Broadcom 4322AGN 802.11a/b/g/n WiFi Adapter with the applicable HP part # depending on what country you live in.
That is a dual band (2.5/5.0 GHz card).
You must get the card with the HP part # on it, or it will not work.
I like to get used but tested and working cards on eBay. So a search by the part number.
Or you can order new from HP at the link below.

  • Can I put an Intel Advanced-N 6230 wireless card into my Pavilion dm4-3050us laptop?

I have been having problems with the wireless connection on my dm4-3050us laptop for several months now and am hoping to replace the wireless card in order to solve these issues.
Will I be able to put an Intel Advanced-N 6230 adapter into my machine?
If so, is there anything special I will need to do in order to make it work as it normally would? (i.e. special adapters to make it fit into the machine, driver updates, etc.)

You can use one of these:
    Intel Centrino Advanced-N 6230 WLAN module 631956-001
    Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 WLAN module 572511-001
It HAS to be an HP branded card with the HP number. It is not good enough if it is another card with the same wifi chip. Only HP branded and numbered cards will allow the system to POST.
    Here is the Service Manual:
    Manual
See page 41. You may find that you need 3 antenna leads and the laptop only has 2. It is very hard to string another antenna lead but it can be done.
Here is the Advanced-N card on eBay which appears to have only 2 leads:
    http://www.ebay.com/itm/GENUINE-OEM-HP-Pavilion-DV6-6000-WIFI-Wireless-Board-631956-001-/36077457082...
You will need to load the correct Intel driver and I would just have it downloaded to the laptop before you do the swap:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-104707-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en...
Link to the Windows 7 driver above. Good luck. This should be pretty much plug and play for you but post back if you need more help.

I am trying to upgrade my graphics card.  I recently purchased a  Zotac GeForce GTX 760 AMP Edition 2GB GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 DVI HDMI DisplayPort SLI Ready Graphics ...  .  I also installed the above mentioned power supply.  I installed both and when I went to start the computer, I got the HP logo blue screen with a message saying to press ESC key for start up menu, however the keyboard was unresponsive.   I updated the bios to this using this link  http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=cp-114777-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en...
The hp logo screen changed but that was about it.  Using the new card, I could get to the first boot screen, and to the hp logo, but then it would stay stuck on the hp logo.  Also if I tried to press f10, ctrl + f or any key, I would just get a black screen and nothing would happen.  I've read that this seems to be a common problem with the HPE models and the 700 series cards and have seen no solution.  I have already arranged to return the card figuring it's either defective or not compatible with my system.
So after all that, I've tried for the last hour to get a list of compatible graphics cards to upgrade my system, and have not found such a list.  I've found lists in the forums for other similar models, but I want to be absolutly sure before I make another purchase and have to go through all this trouble.
Any help would be appreciated and if more info is needed don't hesitate to let me know.

    Hi,
There are graphics card solutions posted on this forum. They may be hard ro find but they are psoted.  It's good that you checked the BIOS settings in the posted HP links as sometimes they get changed thinking that this will work better. However,  in the case for Windows 7 it's just the opposite.
You issue is not a driver problem. Check with the graphics card manufacturer for a remedy. If that particular card is video BIOS enabled for UEFI then you are stuck. You can either return the card or install Windows 8 in UEFI mode.
Another choice would be to try one of the below video cards that run in legacy or UEFI mode.
MSI NVIDIA GTX N750 TI and the MSI GTX N750 TF
    HP DV9700, t9300, Nvidia 8600, 4GB, Crucial C300 128GB SSD
HP Photosmart Premium C309G, HP Photosmart 6520
    HP Touchpad, HP Chromebook 11
    Custom i7-4770k,Z-87, 8GB, Vertex 3 SSD, Samsung EVO SSD, Corsair HX650,GTX 760
Custom i7-4790k,Z-97, 16GB, Vertex 3 SSD, Plextor M.2 SSD, Samsung EVO SSD, Corsair HX650, GTX 660TI
    Windows 7/8 UEFI/Legacy mode, MBR/GPT

  • Can Any one please help me find a compatible Wireless N MINI PCI Express Card for my HP G50-133us?

I have a HP G50-133US notebook, it currently has a Atheros AR5007 802.11b/g WiFi Adapter. I am looking to upgrade it to a B/G/NWiFi Card. I can find plenty of Mini Pci-Express Wireless N cards but not sure if they are compatible. Does anyone know if as long as it is Mini PCI-Express and have the correct drivers this would work? Or does anyone know if a known working upgrade that would work? Any help would be appreciated!! Thank you!.

You MUST get an HP branded wi-fi card AND it has to be on the "white list" for your computer in the BIOS or the card will block the computer from booting with an error message. Here is a link to your Manual:
    Manual
Page 19 starts the list of known compatible wifi cards.
You can search eBay by part number for the card and likely find one at a decent price.
