Pavilion g7-1070us processor

I want to upgrade my laptop processor but don't know if it will work

You have the Intel  i3-380M, which was the first generation i series processor. It can be upgraded. You could install this:
Intel Core i5-480M 2.66-GHz (SC turbo up to
2.93-GHz) processor (3.0-MB L3 cache,
dual core, 35 W)
However, when most people say they want to upgrade the processor, it means they are having general system slowness or they are not able to play the games they want to play. On the games, there is not much you can do. The video is the Intel HD onboard and is not gameworthy and would not be if you upgraded the processor. The bottleneck is the slow 5400 rpm hard drive and to a lesser extent the 4 gigs of RAM. If you install an SSD hard drive and boost it to 8 gigs RAM, you would think you had installed a faster processor. The processor is expensive to buy and difficult to install. An SSD and a RAM upgrade are an easy Do it Yourself project, on the other hand.

  • Pavilion g7-1070us - Processor(?) making click-hiss sound - a little help?

Whether the computer has just been turned on or has been on a while, whether or not I'm online, there is occassionally this hiccup-type sound that seems to coming from the processor. The computer is only 2 months old and has been doing this since almost the day I got it. The noise occurs at somewhat regular intervals of a half minute or so, then a minute goes by and it does it again. Then sometimes there will be a couple click-hiss sounds at a short interval. Sometimes there is the click sound without the hiss sound following. Sounds like a tiny button-snap, then hiss. It sort of sounds like opening a soda can then an exhalation. It doesn't seem normal and is driving me nuts. This computer was one of the last remaining of this model, which has been discontinued.
What is this noise and how can it be eradicated? Thanks for any help.

Hello. I have exact the same clicking sound problem with my HP PVILION p6-2260ea model. Just diferent is that its started after 6 month of daily use. I need some help too.

No if you do replace it you have to get an AMD...the AMDs all have the same type of socket and the Intels are completely different.

  • HP Pavilion dv7 1070us will not POST

    Model: HP Pavilion dv7 1070us
System will not POST after replacing FAN.
I first replaced the FAN, then after re-assembling the unit resulting in:
    Black screen,
CAPS-LOCK white LED continuous 1 second blink,
    F12-WIFI amber LED solid ON,
    The FAN comes on, then stops for a few seconds then restarts and stays on;
I thought this indicated that the CPU was running.
I did all the normal tricks:
    RAM in-out various combinations,
    CMOS battery removal.
Power adapter and Battery removal combinations.
Hard Reset by holding power button for 15-30 seconds w/o battery or PS attached.
remove un-necessary devices: HD, wi-fi, DVD, etc
    Still does not work.
So I figured the Video portion of the CPU was bad.
I then ordered and replaced the AMD A10 4600m CPU.
Re-assembled the machine and still the same symptoms.
I guess the CPU was not bad.
    I give up.
How could HP release a machine that does not POST when the main pieces are good:
    Motherboard,
    CPU,
    RAM
    Power.
I did not buy a new CMOS battery. Can't imagine that would keep it from POST'ing.
Any help ????  Otherwise went from working to JUNK.
A thought: Laptops are not worth the money you pay if they only last a few years.

I would like to know if is possible to upgrade my HP Pavilion g6 2103AX processor (AMD A6-4400M APU with radeon HD grafics), if yes what prossesors would you recommend and where can I do that in sydney?

Upgrading CPU on a laptop is usually not possible, especially for the user.  If that model came with options when purchased, then search for the model with the processor desired

  • I have an HP Pavilion g7-1070us notebook computer. Recovery software included with the computer gav

I have an HP Pavilion g7-1070us notebook computer with Windows 7 as the operating system.  The computer is a year and a half old and has never had problems.  The recovery manager software included with the computer gave me an option to delete the recovery partition on the computer.  I used to recovery manager software to delete the recovery partition from the computerr.  Immediately after the recovery partition was deleted, all sorts of problems developed with the computer and Windows eventually crashed.  I have attempted to reinstall Windows with the recovery discs I created with the recovery manager software on the computer.  When I attempt to reinstall Windows with the recovery discs, I get the following error message screen.
"Windows failed to start.  A recent hardware or software change might be the cause.  To fix the problem:
    1) Insert your Windows installation disc and restart your computer.
    2) Choose your language settings and then click next.
    3) Click repair your computer.
If you do not have this disc contact your system administrator or manufacturer for assistance.
    Windows Boot Manager
    File:\Boot\BCD
    Status: 0xc0000225
Info: An error occured while attempting to read the boot configuration data."
I have no system administrator as this is a single home computer.  This computer is not connected to any computer network.  No hardware or software changes were made to this computer for months prior to this problem occuring.  No other indication of any other problems were observed prior to the use of the recovery manager software on the computer to delete the recovery partition.  I sincerely regret using the recovery manager software to delete the recovery partition from my computer now.

    Hi,
Assuming this is just a problem with the recovery media, here's an alternative option you could try.
Before trying the following, make sure you can still read the 25 Character Product Activation key on your Windows COA label ( 5 blocks of 5 alpha/numeric sets ).
An example of a COA Label can be seen Here.
You can create an installation disc yourself using another PC - just download the correct Disc Image ( this must be the exact same version that originally came with your notebook - if your not certain, your notebook is listed as coming with Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit ) from the link below and use an application such as ImgBurn to burn the ISO correctly to a blank DVD - a guide on using ImgBurn to write an ISO to a disc is Here.  These Images are clean and from a well-respected source, however there are only limited versions available.
    Windows-7 sp1-iso-official-32-bit-and-64-bit
Use the disc to perform the installation, enter the Windows activation key found on the COA Label when requested and when the installation has completed, use the 'Phone Method' detailed in the link below to activate the OS - this method supported by Microsoft and is popular with people who just want a clean installation of Windows 7 without the additional software load normally bundled with OEM installations.

Any additional drivers and software you may need can be found Here.

  • Pavilion G7-1070us play/ pause button on keyboard not working

My pavilion G7 has been a great computer for me but now it has started to experience a problem. The Play/pause button on the keyboard (f7 key) does not play or pause the music.
I have the pavilion G7-1070us with windows 7.
    Please help

    Hello @Unit_27 ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
Thank you for the information about your keyboard! I'll see what I can do to help
I think it would be a good idea to take apart the keyboard, or some of it, to determine if the keys are obstructed somehow. Some information on the supported method of cleaning the keyboard is mentioned in this document: Cleaning your Notebook PC
If this does not resolve the issue, I would reinstall Windows on the computer. The issue at this point would be software related, to some unknown extent. A recovery will address any software issue. First, make sure you backup everything you need to. Here is some information on how to do this: Backing Up Your Files
Once this is done, it is safe to reinstall the computer. Here is some additional information on how to do this properly: Performing an HP System Recovery
Please let me know if you have any other questions. Thanks and have a great day!

    Hi,
Haswell mobile architecture uses a completely different socket than previous generations. You may use a Sandy Bridge like Core i5-2450M on an Ivy Bridge laptop but you can't use Haswell in any of the previous generations:
    http://ark.intel.com/products/75128/Intel-Core-i7-4800MQ-Processor-6M-Cache-up-to-3_70-GHz
    Socket: FCPGA946
So far I have heard there is no reason for an upgrade to Haswell from Sandy or Ivy Bridge computers.

But it is very slow in just browsing the internet and this is with Windows updates all up to date and a fresh install. I also have an excellent braodband speed 40mb/s.
Would it be possible to upgrade the cpu?
    NOT bothered about waranty.
Driver software is all up to date.
    Suggestions appreciated.

That model has the processor soldered to the motherboard so any upgrade is going to require a new motherboard which is going to be too expensive to make any sense. There is a motherboard for that series which uses a socketed A10 processor but you would have to buy a motherboard, processor and new heatsink/fan.
