Pavilion G7 1365dx internal microphone problems (skype).

I just purchased this notebook and when I tried to use Skype, everything works except the other person can't hear me.  Mic is enabled and not muted.  Internal Mic (IDT High Definition Audio CODEC).  System checked for updated drivers, system said drivers are up to date.  Thank you in advance for your help.

Hello @Pistaba1975,
Welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience! To help you get the most out of the HP Forums I would like to direct your attention to the HP Forums Guide First Time Here? Learn How to Post and More.
I have read your post on how the microphone on your notebook is enabled, but will not record any audio on Skype. I would be happy to assist you in this matter!
Are you able to record audio using a different program on your computer? Were you able to record audio from Skype in the past?
In the meantime, I recommend following the steps in this document on Resolving microphone problems (Windows 8). This should help enable the audio-in when using the microphone.
Additionally, I also suggest following this resource on Microphone Troubleshooter to ensure that your Skype software is communicating the audio being transmitted to your audio-in device.
Please re-post with the results of your troubleshooting, as well as the requested information above. I look forward to your reply!

  • IMac internal microphone problems

I have a recurring issue with the internal microphone in my iMac. Occasionally, it will just stop working and won't pick up any sounds. The two resolutions I've found are to either unplug and re-plug the external speakers I have connected (strange) or, when that doesn't work, to restart the computer (less strange). Has anyone had a similar problem with their iMac? Adjusting the settings in the sound control panel does nothing to make this work. It seems that this is a software problem, since it's always fixed by restarting, but of course I'd like to find some way to fix this without having to restart. Thanks.

I am encountering similar issues, looking at the sound preference pane, I can see that the microphone is showing noise, this is duplicated on a skype test call... just noise no external sound is being picked up. Steps I have taken so far are:
    Zapped the PRAM
    Thrown away my sound preferences
    Ran software update
Restarted the iMac a few times
Another thing to note is that the microphone was working ok this morning, then the sound started to degrade and now just noise.
Thanks in advance for any help or direction to solve this!
    Cheers,
    Sean

  • Audio/Internal Microphone problems

I can't seem to record anything on my PB. I'm trying the internal microphone and an external Apple microphone and a couple of different audio programs including Quicktime. Whenever I switch back and forth from "internal microphone" to "Line in" in the system prefs, I get a momentary audio input level signal, but nowhere can I get an actual sustained audio in signal. Anything I record comes up blank.
Could my internal audio hardware be dead?
    - N

I'm not sure why you're not getting a signal from you internal mic, but you can't use a regular external microphone with the Line In port. Line In requires a stonger signal than a microphione can provide, so you need to use a pre-amp to boost it.
So that could explain why the Apple external microphone isn't working, although it doesn't rule out the possibility that there's a problem with your PowerBook's audio hardware.

  • T410(2539) Internal Microphone problem

    Hi All,
I just find out my internal microphone was not working(Skype or MSN). i updated the driver for conexant audio to version 4.95.48.50 however it still doesnt work. I am using Win7 64 bit. Please kindly advise on this issue. Thanks

Some generic advice. Look in control panel, under "sound" and see what device is listed for "recording", make sure it's enabled and says it's working. Also check in your apps, if your system has options like bluetooth, it might have it set as default, in which case you'll need ot change it to your systems internal mic, but most important, you should post this in the proper section. Your topic will be seen by more T400 series users if you post in that section. This is for older models that were discontinued at the end of 2008.

  • Help - Internal Microphone Problem Toshiba Satellite M305-S4910

    Hello,
I really hope someone can help me.  2 days ago I bought a Toshiba Satellite M305-S4910 after reading rave reviews on BestBuy.com.    After attempting to use the internal microphone I discovered the following problem.
When I am on a video chat, it sounds like there is a lot of static on the line.  As soon as I plug in a headset, the sound goes away.  I called best buy for the free 14 day support and they said I have two options.  Bring it in to exchange for a new laptop or PAY for a service person to come troubleshoot it for me.   I have spent the last 3 days transferring files, loading programs, and now I have just about everything set up on this laptop.  I do not want to go EXCHANGE it for a new one and do that all over again.  I can reload software if its something simple like that.  Does anyone have any ideas how I can diagnose and possibly repair myself?  Part of the reason I liked this one is the built in mic and webcam since I video chat A LOT!
    Thanks
    Kristine

    Hi,
Since that the problem goes away with the use of external mic, it is very likely that the internal mic is malfunctioning or maybe a loose wire to the mic is causing the problem. Fixing these yourself means taking the notebook apart and possibly voiding your warranty.

You've selected *Line In* instead of *Internal Microphone* as your input source.
I have no idea what iSHOW U is.

  • Internal Microphone Problem

I am the owner of a A305-S6829. When the lid is open the microphone does not function. It is necessary to barely close the lid to make it function. I think the problem is that the wire harness of the camera and the microphone is in some way broken and it make connection when the lid is closed. I know this wire harness pass through the right hinge of the lid. The situation is that i am trying to buy this wire harness but I can not find any internet site to buy them. Can someone help me with that or sugest me other solution.
    Thanks!!

I have not taken one of these apart. But, these mic cables look quite long, combined with the instructions, I hope this will help.
    Disassembly of Satellite A305/A305D
Removal of LCD screen and inverter board from Satellite A305/A305D

  • Internal microphone problems

Recent return of iMac for broken internal microphone

I wish I could figure out what your issue is so I could duplicate it here. I'm actually trying to get the microphone to stop working. I turned the volume on the input all the way down when I bought the machine three weeks ago, and at least once I've found it had turned itself back up to the mid point. My previous MacBook Pro did this as well, and I found I had to check regularly to make sure it wasn't on.

  • My new iMac's internal microphone is not being recognized by other applications (such as Skype or rosetta stone)?

I just bought a new iMac.  I'm having trouble with the internal microphone.  I went to systems preferences> sound, and checked the input levels.  The computer shows recieved sound from internal microphone and a USB connected microphone.  However, no one on Skype can hear me, and microphone isn't recognized while using rosetta stone.  Does anyone know what could be the problem with my internal mic?

I did get an answer to my problem.  It was specifically with skype and Rossetta Stone.  I had to re-install the apps and then do the general upgrade.  It fixed the problem.  Works fine now.

  • My internal microphone no longer works after loading Skype to my MacBook Pro... What to do now???

I use my internal microphone on my MacBook Pro very often, especially in programs like GarageBand, Audacity and Photo Booth. However, yesterday after attempting to use Skype (for the very first time) my internal microphone does not work properly in any program. The only time it responds is when I tap the area directly above the microphone.
    - I've already checked the settings in System Preferences
    - I deleted all files associated with Skype
    - I've tried holding the "option + command + r + p" while starting the computer
    - I've delete the "com.apple.soundpref.plist" file in the user library
Has anyone else encountered this problem and knows of a definite fix, or can someone at least offer any other suggestions that may work?
    Thank You!

The only time it responds is when I tap the area directly above the microphone.
Sounds like a hardware problem.  Take the computer to an Apple store or an AASP.  Whichever is more convenient for you.  If you have Apple Care or your computer is still under warranty, call them up and let them deal with it.

  • Recently installed Windows 7 on Pavilion dv6748us - internal microphone does not work

    Hi,

I have been searching the web extensively, without success, to find how to resolve this issue.
I recently installed Windows 7, 32 bit, on my wife's HP Pavilion dv6748us laptop. Now her internal microphone does not work.
Have gotten some "roadside" advice to use a Windows Vista driver; Have no idea what the driver is or how to get it.
Have found some information about uninstalling realtek audio driver and reinstalling an older version; Have no idea on this one either.
Would really appreciate a definitive answer with a positive result.
    Thanks for all help.
The drivers for the laptop are located here. select Vista and Driver-audio. The Vista driver should work.  You can uninstall the driver from within the Device manager. Start --> type devmgmt.msc and the device manager will open. Locate the HD audio device and right-click it and update the driver.
After that is done go to Control Panel and Sound and the recording tab up top.  Check to see if the microphone is grayed out. (not grayed out means driver is properly installed). The microphone should also have a green checkmark next to it.  It is now a matter of selecting the microphone then selecting Properties to enable the microphone and then  test and adjust the input level. Look at the tabs (listen, levels and advanced).
Had you considered trying Windows update or the Realtec website as a drivers source?

    Hi:
Looking at your system information you could have one of two possible audio cards:
Conexant HD audio or the RealTek HD Audio
The fact that you couldn't install the RealTek HD audio driver indicates to me that you don't have a RealTek audio card. Check your device manager and look at your sound card and check to make sure which audio card you have.
Here is the Vista 32 bit driver for the Conexant audio card:
    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=32...
Here is the Vista 32 bit driver for the Realtek audio card:
    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/SoftwareDescription.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&prodTypeId=32...
If you in fact have the Realtek audio card, I would download and install the latest, greatest HD driver directly from the RealTek site:
Accept the agreement, download and install the first one on the list. Maybe it has been updated to fix the issue you are experiencing.

  • Internal Microphone not working on Pavilion dm4 Laptop

I have an IDT High Definition Audion CODEC internal microphone on a Pavilion dm4 laptop.
I was advised by an helpful HP support person to uninstall and re-install drivers and this I have done a couple of times.
Occasionally the microphone works but more often it is still not working from Start up. It is not working today!
I am trying to use Skype.
I have checked that the driver is up to date. ( right click on IDT in Device Manager) and this was confirmed.
I would be very grateful for any other suggestions.
    Christopher

    Thanks for the suggestion.
I opened the Sound control panel as you suggested and the Internal Mic (IDT) is shown in the list of microphones and has a green tick ( and is already enabled in properties). It is selected as a default device. ( the icon shows a picture of the laptop indicating the microphone on the lid  not the picture of the microphone as shown in your clip)
In the Sound control window there is a sound indicator panel to the right of the internal Mic Icon that has a green bar that moves up and down - indicating that the microphone is responding to sound.
However it is still not working in Skype and it is the Internal Mic that is selected as the device here.
Very frustrating as I really would like to Skype. I tried uninstalling and re-installing Skype Version 5.5.0.117 and this has not made any difference.
    Any other thoughts?
    Christopher
