Pavilion m7570n upgrading form Windows XP to 7 Home Premium 64

After ugrading to Windows 7 Home Premium 64 (clean install with all available updates, SP1, etc.), I get crashes BSOD when installing/or after intalling new software (Norton Antivirus, Works Suite 2006, etc.). In every case computer comes back to life after restart without problem. The random crashes do not appear to cause any data loss and, as I said, the machine recovers, software runs as before without apparent problem except for the crashes now and then. I did extensive tests on memory, processor, hardisk and clean up of malware and viruses (The clean install should have taken care of the latter.
I was wondering if drivers for the hardware (hard disk, DVD drives, mouse, KB, video board, etc.) may need updating to be compatible with Windows 7.
Any enlightenment on this issue would be very much appreciated, Derek

Derek, welcome to the forum.
The one component that most people don't suspect when getting BSOD's is the power supply unit (PSU).  It can cause many symptoms attributed to other components.  Here is a guide that will help you troubleshoot it.

  • Touch screen doesn't work after Vista Home64-bit upgrade to Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium on IQ506

Hello, right before I upgraded to Win7, I made sure that the Touchsmart software worked and that the touch screen itself worked. As soon as I performed the upgrade (not the clean upgrade that wipes all your existing data, but rather the upgrade that carries over your applications and files), the touch screen ceased to work.
I didn't panic, thinking that I probably had to run some windows/hp updates, which I did to no avail. I also manually updated ALL the driver/software files found at this link http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareList?os=4063&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us〈=en&product=3752245
Yup, every single one. As a last resort, I tried some of the HP troubleshooting for touch screens not working. It said to shut down the computer, pull the plug on the computer, hold the power button for 5 seconds, plug the computer back in, and boot it up again. Didn't help at all.
I'm at the end of my rope and there is no additional HP support on this. I'm waiting for a reliable driver update for win7 for this **bleep** touch screen. I'm dead in the water -- I've got a touchscreen computer whose touchscreen doesn't work! Someone else out there must be having this problem! Any leads?

Did you try installing the Touch Driver?

    Hi Warren,
I assume you simply plugged the printer without preinstalling any software. Please correct me otherwise.
Please remove the existing device as following:
Unplug the USB from the back of the printer.
Enter Control Panel > Devices and printers
Right click any 1400 printer icon, then click Remove Device.
If there are several icons of your printer, repeat the same for any of them.
    Reboot your PC.
Enter Control Panel > Devices and Printers.
Left click once any presented printer (e.g. Fax), then click Print Server Properties on the Top bar.
    Click the Driver tab.
If there is any 1400 listed, select it and click Remove.
Select to remove the 2nd option. Remove printer driver and printer driver Package.
Download and install the Full Feature Software for your printer (HP PSC 1400 Series) below:
*Make sure not to connect the USB till prompted to do so during the install.

  • Windows 7 64-Bit Home Premium SP Question

I noticed in applying new updates to a fresh installation of Windows 7 64-Bit Home Premium that Service Pack 1 kept getting offered to me again and again in Windows/Microsoft Update even though I was selecting to install it every time. Is this because
I had not yet installed a prerequisite update? It eventually stopped offering me SP1 when finished installing other items.

It looks like this unit has not yet been certified for Windows 8.  Review this site to see what to expect when upgrading to Windows 8.  Click on More Information at the bottom to get a more detailed list and to have the option to see if HP has tested the unit for Windows 8.
Make sure to install the Windows 8 HP Software Framwork found here.
There is a chance that some functions simply will not work.  Since the unit has not been certified for Windows 8 and does not have Windows 8 drivers from HP, the Windows 7 drivers and software may need to be reinstalled using compatibility mode.  Review my post located here for the method that seems to have the most success.  The key to install HP software with compatibility mode is to let the extraction complete and then navigate to the real software installer in the extracted folder.
I recommend reinstalling the newest driver for each component in compatibility mode as outlined in the linked post.  Here is the software page for your unit.
    Let me know what happens.

  • Hp pavilion dv6500 upgrade to windows 8 64 bits

hi guys i have an hp pavilion dv6500 laptop with 64 bit processor and i want to upgrade it to windows 8 64 bit but during the installation am asked to select file or insert cd containing the drivers before proceeding with the installation. can anyone help me with a link to download these particular drivers please.....

Have you run the Windows 8 compatibility checker?
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/upgrade-from-windows-vista-xp-tutorial
Open the Device Manager and see which devices are installed. That is important and will save a lot of time. Verify the wireless and wired network interface devices. Otherwise we will have to find out what they are the more difficult way.
You can install and run CPU-z  to find out which chipset and graphics device is installed. Use the tabs.  Once we know those, then finding the drivers is a possibility. The notebook may be a bit far back in generations for Windows 8, but Windows 8,1 does have a large builtin driverstore so it is a possibility.

  • Upgrading form Windows 7 32 bit RTM to 64 bit

I was wondering if anyone has any idea how to get a windows 7 64 bit installation download of DVD.  I did get the 32bit RTM, which was a mistake;  I should have gotten the 64Bit Vista downgrade, instead of the 32 Bit one.  Its probably too late too late to change my selection from lenovo.  However my understanding is that the lisence, RTM or not, is good for both the 32bit and 64bit versions.  With that being the case, I should only need the Installation disk or an equivalent download.
    Any ideas?

    Ok thanks for the info,
I'll try and contact microsoft again and try and find the right person to talk to; I'll let you know if I find anything useful.  Thanks for all your help.  One quick question for now though, what is "OEM VLK"?
FYI for anyone who is trying to go from the 32bit rtm to the 64 bit counter part.  I have already tried calling Micro soft tech support once who sent me on the the Microsoft Store who said the only way for me to upgrade would be to buy the WIndows 7 professioanl upgrade from Windows 7 Home Premier edition, which is roughly $140 which frankly is asinine, especially when I'm trying to go from Windows 7 32 bit to Windows 7 Pro 64 bit.  Hopefully with enough calls to teck support I will get someone who has a clue and can get me to the right person to talk to. However, if this ends up being the only option, can you belive how bat it would have been if Microsoft did not have to compete with Linux, I mean this would be one more reason for the world to switch to linux.
As a side note:   You know I whish Microsoft would have one place for these kind of things and alwasy remain consistant.  For example, if you go to The Microsoft windows 7 page and click on the link to see the differences between windows 7 pro and ultimate they list only two differences, bit locker and multiple lnguage capability, between the two which are more or less useless for me (http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/compare/default.aspx).   However, during my research regarding this problem I happen to come uppon a file called "Windows 7 Product Guide.pdf" (http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=B3C68EC2-E726-4830-AC89-31C71D6BE5F3&displa...) that lists even more differences, differences that seem to better justify the price difference between windows 7 professional and ultimate.
And then in other references I have seen something called windows 7 N and Windows 7 NK; What the heck is that?

At present I am using a Pavilion Elite HPE-150f desktop, windows 7 home premium 64bit, I use Microsoft works Task Launcher a lot of the time and it came pre installed on my desktop.
Now I have purchased a new HP Envy 700-019 windows 8 64 bit desktop, still in the box and not set up yet, is there any way I can install Microsoft works task Launcher onto my new desktop without a disc. I have the recovery discs but no disc just for Microsoft works task Launcher.

you can put MS works on your windows 8 system. you just need a MS works disc.

  • After upgrading to FireFox 7 on Windows 7 64-bit Home Premium, I can't load the games in Google Plus.

Long time user of Firefox, but recently I've been having problem. After upgrading to FireFox 7 on my laptop with Windows 7 Home Premium (64-bit), none of the game in Google+ will load. One game pop up a screen saying cookie acceptance is disabled even though it is enabled. One game just won't load at all, but will not give any error message. I installed Adobe Flash as well, still not working. Previous version of firefox works fine without a problem. Also, I recently reinstall Windows and fresh copy of Firefox 7, still the same problem.

  • After Effects CS6 (11.0.4.2) Not Recognizing Installed RAM Windows 7 64-Bit (Home Premium)

I'm having the same issue in Photoshop CS6 (13.0.1 x64).
I had been running my system on 16GB of RAM and recently upgraded to 32GB. My system diagnostics show 32GB of RAM actively installed and running, but when I open the system preferences in either PS or AE it shows only 16-ish available RAM. Why don't I have access to all 32GB (or close to it)?
I'm including screen shots of the Preferences Windows in both PS and AE. Any help would be much appreciated. Both applications are currently updated as of this morning.

I have answered my own question. And as embarrassing as it is. I'll leave it up in case someone else is looking for the same answer.
Windows 7 Home Premium only supports up to 16 GB of RAM. I had to buy the Professional version in order to access all 32 GB of the installed RAM.
It's a pretty silly mistake to make, but there you have it.
