Pavilion p6-2326s power cycling

Hi, I just got a Pavilion P6-2326s from a friend that didn't want it anymore because it was broken. I know a little about PCs so I thought i could fix it and have a spare. It would fire up and run but no video. I figured onboard video was dead and ordered a new cheap video card(EVGA GT610 1GB). I installed it and and no go. the pc just cycles through starting for 3-4 seconds, stops, starts again for few seconds and goes again. It will keep doing this forever or until I hold in power button to shut down. I thought maybe vid card was drawing too much juice, so I removed power supply and put in a known good, 550 watt that I have. Same deal with the start, stop sequence. Tried removing, replcing battery to refresh CMOS in BIOS. Same result with start, stop sequence. Is it safe to assume that Motherboard is probable fried? One othe note, when I got the PC and opened it up, it was the dirtiest PC I have ever seen. It was really caked up with dust and webs. Any ideas out there? Thanks in advance

You replaced the graphics card and power supply with no luck.
A new battery and CMOS reset also did not help.
All you have left to do is swap in a replacement CPU (probably not worth the money or effort), or troubleshoot the memory modules, or the motherboard is toast. I would agree the motherboard is probably dead as you would receive boot error codes for faulty CPU or memory.
The dust and grime buildup most likely created excessive heat which killed the PC. That is unfortunate as this PC is around two years old.

You would definitely need to remove the add on video card in order to change the BIOS settings, but if you don't have any video with the video card removed, then you still can't see the BIOS settings, and you are pretty much out of luck.
You would probably be throwing good money after bad unless you can find the same motherboard on eBay in used but tested and working condition at a very reasonable price.
Here are listings of the motherboard your model uses. They may be from different model PC's however that use the same motherboard and again, you may not be able to use W8 because if some of those motherboards came from models with W7, there won't be a W8 product key in the BIOS.

Then there might be a problem with getting Windows 8 reactivated since the motherboard was changed even if you do manage to find one that came from a PC with W8.
If it were me...This would be a case where I would strip it for parts, and toss the rest of it out.

HP 6310 AIO Printer locks up and needs to be power-cycled when faxing from my PC.

I have an HP 6310 AIO Printer; Whenever I try to fax a document from my PC, the printer locks up (All lights flashing) and needs to be power-cycled. I can fax from the printer glass directly but unable to from my PC. Also the software communicates properly whenever I am scanning from the glass or feed tray. What would make it locks up and all light flashing? it seems as if whenever I generate the fax or scan from the PC end it locks up the printer.

Completely reload the full feature software and drivers for the printer.

In iTunes go to the Edit menu, then preferences. Click on the "Devices" tab. In there you will see a device backups section. If there is nothing there then you did not backup to your computer first. It is also possible that you were backing up to iCloud before updating. That is harder to check with an iPhone that is logged into your account.

X1 Any-room DVR, 3 nights have to Power cycle all 3 DVR boxes to see Recordings

On 7/2 I went to watch a DVR show in my bedroom, which is not my Primary DVR box. The recording was playing like a slideshow, skipping and moving at 1/100th of it's normal play speed. So I went into the living room to the primary DVR and checked the recordings from the Saved Programs menu and it told me that no recordings were available and Comcast was working to fix this problem. I then called Comcast customer service and a man sent a refresh signal for me, and it reset the primary DVR box, and then the recordings came back on the primary box. I went to check the secondary box in the bedroom where I had the original problem, and that box still was not showing any recording, it didn't have the same error, it just said that no recordings were available and to check if all my DVR boxes were plugged in. I asked the guy on the phone and he told me that I should unplug that one and plug it back in and that it should then work. I asked if he should wait on the phone in case it didn't and he said no, and that if it didn't, if I just waited another half hour it would be back. I hastily agreed and hung up.Well, they never came back that night. And I checked for another 2 hours. On the morning of 7/3, it still wasn't back, so I decided I would power cycle all of the boxes at the same time. I unplugged all 3, waited a minute. Then I plugged in the primary one, waited for that to come all the way on, waited 5 minutes after the primary box was all the way on and then proceeded to plug in the 2 other DVR boxes. Then I waited 5 minutes until after they were back live on TV to check the DVR menu (the original guy on the phone insisted that I should wait at least 3 minutes after the DVR box was turned all the way back onto live tv before opening the Saved Recordings menu). This seemed to work, the recordings came back and it worked fine for a little while during the day that day. Later that night I went to sleep really late after 12am. I went to play a DVR show in bed and it said again that my recordings were unavailable and to check all the DVR boxes. AGAIN!? YES. I know if I call that you are just going to tell me to power cycle it or send a refresh signal again, and it's going to take another hour--and then it is just going to stop working again by tomorrow night!!! I am losing sleep over this at this point, literally. What is going to be done about this beyond power cycling and refresh signaling??? I refuse to spend any more time on the phone anymore at night when this happens, it wakes up my boyfriend who has work earlier than me.

This could explain the clipping, and the LOST recordings.... You did do the right steps to getting your Any-Room DVR working, but if those recordings are in the cloud and the cloud had issues, you wouldn't have seen them.... -=Ray=-

Airport Extreme - Slow until power cycle every few hours (wired, not modem)

I have the latest Airport Extreme Base Station (no time capsule) connected to a Motorola Surfboard 6121 modem.
When wired directly to the AEBS I get download speeds of 90Mbps+, but after a few hours (I haven't determined if it is consistent) the dowloand speed drops to about 1-4Mbps. Power cycling the cable modem brings back the original speeds.
Please Note: When wired directly to the cable modem the speed of 90Mbps+ are consistent over several days (I haven't tested longer).
The drop in speed only happens when connecting through the AEBS, no matter if I'm connected wirelessly or directly.
My next test will be to see whether powercycling only the AEBS resets the speed the way powercylcing the modem does.
Any thoughts? I would rather not have to restart my connection everytime I go to use it.

Satellite Windows 8 laptop will no longer boot up after performing a power cycle

I have a Satellite C855-55107 laptop. It had been working fine, and one day starting this problem: When booting up, it would bring the desktop screen up, and would not let me get to the sign in screen. I went to the Troubleshooting Help here and performed a power cycle. Now, it won't even boot up. The power is working fine. What do I need to do, and what do you think caused the original problem?

Hi! bec! I don't run W8. You could have picked up a Virus ect. Hard to really tell. There will be better replies during the week. I would restore back to factory.If you were infected, that should cure that problem. You could also make a system repair disk and try to boot with it. It can be made with any computer that is running W8. If you don't have that option, I guess it's back to factory.

THROUGH F12 AT STARTUP
To access the System Restore, Refresh and Reset options using the F12 option at startup, perform the following:

Now restart the computer by pressing the power button - IMMEDIATELY start tapping the F12 key on the keyboard until the "Boot Menu" screen appears.

The computer will bring you to the Advanced startup screen.
Select Troubleshoot. Under Troubleshoot you will see “Refresh” and “Reset”.
Select “Advanced options.” Located here is "System Restore."

If you are having issues organizing the Apps on your iPhone via iTunes, you may want to double-check the steps in the following article and make sure you are syncing any changes to your device:

My build has been stable for about 3 months now but today I went to play a game but the monitor was turned off. I switched the computer off and back on and it started power cycling. I reset the CMOS and it still power cycled. I also tried 1 RAM stick in every RAM slot but still same thing. Everything is plugged in correctly as I have been using it succesfully for the last 3 months until now. Would it be safe to say that I need to RMA it?

As for the statement which I have highlighted in Bold, that is a very general statement to make. To begin with, the problem of P67 chipsets lies with Intel and Intel has issued an official notice several months ago on the issues. Though revisions like B3 version had been released to solve the glitches found in the P67 chipsets, no one knows how many other problems are still unannounced thus no one dares to speculate. Do note, that the P67 chipset problem affects all manufacturers worldwide as everyone only gets their P67 from one source, which is obviously, Intel.
As far as I'm concerned about stability, the below quoted is what I have done and have been doing all this while before any tweaking starts.

Safari Quasi-Hung - Mail Link to this Page - Power Cycle Required

Hi! The other day, I was looking at a web page in Safari, hit the "+" icon and chose to "Mail Link to this Page". I chose the person I had in mind from my contact list, but realized that there were a couple others at the same firm that I should also copy. Not seeing a way to search on the company name at that point, I hit the Home button, went into Spotlight, searched for the company name, and found the other people.
Armed with the names of the others, I went back to Safari, but I was not returned to the point of addressing my message. Instead, I returned to a partially crippled Safari. (from memory now:) I could do the back and forward arrows, but there was no response to taps on "+", Bookmark, or Tabs. Thinking maybe I should be in Mail, I tried going there, but it also showed no sign of the pending message forwarding the link.
I found no way out of this other than a full power cycle of the phone.
I have an iPhone 3GS 32Gig.

Have not seen this problem with more recent iOS releases. Particularly, the ability to cancel an Email and save it as a Draft would seem to render this moot. Thanks for the feature add.

HDMI Resolution Reverts to Auto on Power Cycle

Hi All,
I've been setting up 3 Apple TVs where I need to set the resolution of the devices to 720p @ 50Hz. This works fine, until I power cycle the unit, at which point it reverts to Auto and due to EDID sets the resolution to 1080p which is giving me problems with the HDMI over Cat5 baluns I am using over long distance. This happens on all of the 3 units.
All 3 of the units are running the latest software, and I am not sure how to resolve this. Does anyone have any ideas? Sorry if this has been asked before, I had a search and couldn't find anything.

You said that you have upgraded the firmware, but after upgrading the firmware you didn’t reset the Router… So reset the Router, power cycle the whole network… Then follow the steps:

Reset the Router and power cycle the network...Make the following connectivity – Connect the Modem with the Router’s Internet port and then connect the Computer with any one of the Ethernet port of the Router [Numbered 1, 2, 3 and 4]... Then install the Cisco Connect Software... It will help you in configuring the Router...
Otherwise you can configure it manually as well…For Let me know the name of the ISP [Internet Service Provider] – means the connection is a DSL connection or cable connection…

As far as the wireless is concern:
# Open up the browser and on the address bar type “IP address of the Default Gateway” that will open up the Router setup page…
# Then Click on wireless Tab create the Wireless Network Name SSID and select the channel to 6, 9, and 11… Click Save Settings...
# Then Click on Wireless Security sub tab and select the security mode and provide the password as per the requirement… Click Save Settings...
After doing the settings try to connect the preferred network on the wireless devices and check the connectivity….

Power Cycling Thinkvision LCD Monitors from the Mains Board each night

Hi
Can anyone confirm whether IBM / Lenovo have said its ok to power cycle monitors at the wall socket each night, rather than relying on power saving modes?
I have about 50 Thinkvision monitors - L151, L170p, L171p, L192p, L193p, L200p, L201 - all hung off the same circuit and I want to flick the circuit breaker each night, regardless of whether the monitors are on or off.
I can't see any issues with this - but would like IBM / Lenovo to confirm as well.
Any ideas?

Display brightness setting doesn't stick on power cycle

The display brightness setting doesn't seem to stick during power cycles on my new 13" i7, it almost always sets itself to full brightness when I turn it on. This isn't really a huge deal but it is kind of a nuisance as I typically keep it around half, why should I be turning it back down every time I boot up???.
I have un-checked the box through settings for adjusting brightness based on ambient light, and made sure it is in fact staying un-checked.
I have also reset PRAM a few times now which seems to provide a temporary fix only. After a day or two it's back to square one again.
Any ideas, or is this a bug that there's currently no fix for?

Did you switch the BIOS and the EC Firmware to the Windows 7 counterparts?
