Pavilion s3240.sc TV tuner!

I have a HP Pavilion Slimline s3240.sc, with integrated: ASUSTeK LNA Tiger Hybrid TV Tuner.
- Combined with a MAXIMUM DA 1200 Indoor TV antenna "For DVB-T, VHF and UHF".
-> The antenna works great when I tested with a television.
But I am not able to find any TV channels when I scan, using Windows Media Center software on Vista 32bit.
Should I try with some other software, or do you have any other suggestions, what I might try to get it to work?
I havent tried using a TV tuner before, so Im a bit unsure how to see if the connection is correctly made between the TV tuner and the antenna...?
Thanks!

Some questions. Was the antenna connected? If it's like my dv4t the antenna connector is not too sturdy, so be careful. Did you do the tuner setup for ATSC (digital), not NTSC (analog)? I assume you want to view with an antenna, not cable. Are you in a good location for TV recption. My supplied antenna works pretty good, but I'm close to most local transmitters. That's about all I can think of.

  • Pavilion dv7-1285dx tv tuner

I have a dv7-1285dx  and was wondering i see where the HD, memory and wireless stuff is there is a spot for a card or something and it looks like a tv icon on the case can I get the tuner from HP and install it myself I seen some models have that option unfortunately I didn't get it with my computer but would like it.

I had thI updated to vista sp2 and I was receiving cable through my motorola dch 3200 through firewire played on VLC, when I upgraded it it just stopped working.  I tried all the tv tuner drivers, which I had to install last time, but no luck. it would be nice if Hp just did a better job of labeling drivers and describing them.  I mean wwhat is the point of labeling drivers witha  bunch of numbers.  Anyways I am trying a system restore now, cross my fingers.  Its also really annoying how after awhile your computer can only restore back to like 5 restore points, because they don't offer any options of increasing the size of the recovery partition, I just upgraded last night, and I am afraid the restore point was after I installed sp2 not before.  I dunno HP has really let me down with customer service, first off they sold me a laptop that they new had a bad videocard (look up nvidia lawsuit) HP was selling computers that should have been recalled after they knew about it, and the battery recall, pure bs, just because no one with a similar serial number had their battery blow up yet I cant get a new battery.  Even Though I have the Hp battery that is being recalled.  They need to fix some stuff to make it easier for people.  Like having an all in one driver disc download, as well as individual downloads, a program that tests what drivers you need.  I get better service from Gateway for my emachines computer, 24/7 free tech support, thats what we should really get, if we bought an HP laptop we deserve support, and if not that, a user friendly update and recovery system.

  • Regarding TV Tuner

    Dear Sir

    please reply

Here is another Thread about the same problem. This has been an ON-Going problem. Here is the other thread:
     Home > Notebook > TV/Media Center > Pavilion dv7t - no TV tuner signal
    http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-TV-Tuners-and-Media/Pavilion-dv7t-no-TV-tuner-signal/td-p/1883...
If you have a problem with your Integral TV Tuner, Have HP support connect you with the Escalation Team and they offer vouchers and the USB HP TV Tuner.
The problem is the design of the Port and connector. Why I had to waste my time sending my unit twice back and get no permanent solution is just outrageously incompetent when they knew they had a problem

  • No tuner hardware detectet- HP Pavilion dv6-1244tx with Integrated TV Tuner

i bought HP Pavilion dv6-1244tx with Integrated TV Tuner.
When i go to Windows Media Center->TV+Movies->set up tv receive the folowing message:
"The TV signal cannot be configured because no tuner hardware was detected..."
Same think with HP Media Smart-when clicking on the tv icon the message is: " No TV Tuner Device.
No TV Tuner card detected. Please check your TV tuner card or add one to use this program."
    My questions are:
1.Sinnce the model HP Pavilion dv6-1244tx comes with Integrated TV Tuner Is it normal to receive the above messages when trying to set up tv?
    2. Do i need to install additional drivers or to buy additional hardware to be abble to to set up tv?

the message no tuner detected is a problem with windows media center.  If you try other software you will see that the tuner is working!
I am currently on with Microsoft tech support level 2 ?   they are now on their second day trying to fix my computer
my computer is a pavillion m8187c and after 6 months of supurb service the "no tuner" message appeared.   I have done everthing suggested on the HP help site but to no avail.   downloaded drivers for the tuner card from everywhere including toe original drivers from drive D.   I also went to services and restarted the services which are windows media center.   I then saw that windows 7 has more controls available to the user in wmc.  so I upgraded to windows 7 which gave more drivers and software.  BUT WMC still indicated no tuner.  So then I went out and bought a new tuner, no it didn't work either
Over the last two days I have watched the Microsoft technician retry everything that I had tried and it is still not working.
we may try to use the more extream upgrade.  I just upgraded my system with windows 7, so we may have to do the install where the Drive C is formated and the clean operating system is installed.  who knows the technician from microsoft is still researching
by the way HP stopped any support when I upgraded to Windows 7 because I did not buy the upgrade from them, I got it at wallmart
so if you want it to work call microsoft support at 800-642-7676  plan on spending some time

  • Tv tuner windows 8 pavilion

I have a pavilion dv 5t -1000us   and have installed win 8 on it. I would like to use a tv tuner, but have been unable to get any info on any of the HP tuners if they work with win 8 or which one (best price) I should get?
    Thanks for any help.

    Hello gregverena,
If Windows 8 drivers are released for your notebook, they will be posted here.
HP is not going to support hardware for Windows 8 on any system purchased before Oct 1st 2011.
Check out this page to see if your computer has been tested by HP with Windows 8.
You can run the Upgrade assistant software, which will scan your PC and generate a report on what is currently installed on your PC is compatible with Windows 8.
It looks like you could upgrade to Windows 7, but that is as far as you can go, without experiencing issues.
    I hope this helps.

  • RF Tuner not working correctly in Pavilion DV6-1200

Having troubles tuning the computer to the tv signal. The signal is via a wall cable RF type, Comcast cable. The computer can not detect the source data, however when a normal tv is plugged into the same cable, it tunes into 35 channels. The tv tunes to the signal prior to June 12, 2009 (NTSC). There is no setup box being used.  I have used windows media centre and HP media center to tune the computer in but no success yet. The tuner mode I thought that should work is Analog Cable NTSC, plus tried every other mode many times over.  The strange thing about this whole matter I was connected to HP tech support for 4 HOURS on this matter! They could not give me any reason why this was happening!!!! The tv tuner does work with the supplied antenna using the Digital Antenna Mode. When I talked to HP tech support, their so called tv tuner experts, they could not tell me what the Analog Cable NTSC mode was used for! Regards, Ed

    Hi,
Please uninstall the existing version and install the newer version:

  • HP Pavilion dv7-2075eo Entertainment notebook pc - Can´t, get TV tuner working

HD went down, and after I made a recovery, I opgrated to Windows 8.(32 bit)
All driver for hardware were lost.
I´d found all drivers on HP´s site, but I can´t, get TV tuner working - can´t find hardware-
Can enybody help me with that?

I am going to be honest here. There is a good chance that not all hardware will be functional. This system was not designed for Windows 8 and was long before Windows 8.
With that being said, you can try this Vista Driver in compatibility mode. This is the driver for the express TV Tuner Card.
    1. Download the driver.
    2. Start the extraction process and take note of where it is getting extracted to. Cancel the installation once the extraction is finished.
    3. Navigate to this extracted folder. Right-click the setup/installer file and select Troulbeshoot Compatibility.
    4. Follow the prompts in the troubleshoot and select the automatic settings option.
    5. Select Test Program when prompted.
    6. Follow the installation.
    7. If no errors were presented, it may work at this point.
NOTE: This process may not work, but it is a good place to start.
If you were using Windows Media Center previously, you may need to find a different solution. It is not available by default and will need to be added separately to Windows 8.
Here is the link for Media Center for Windows 8. It starts off by adding it to Windows 8 Pro, but the actual wording of the special offer towards the bottom does not specify Windows 8 Pro as a requirement. It may be worth trying.

  • Pavilion Dv7 4165dx Hard drive failure and performance issues?

I have a pavilion dv7 4165dx notebook that was working great until a couple of months  when the performance of my machine started to decrease rapidly. I have performance issues with the machine because it takes 1 to 2 minutes to get from the welcome screen to the actual desktop and another 3 to 4 minutes for it to be ready to use. I already upgrade the memory from 4gb to 8gb but instead of going faster it goes slower and i also did a clean install of windows but it didn't help. Before i have problems it took maybe 30 to 50 seconds to go from the welcome screen to the actual desktop and 1 minute and 30 seconds to be ready to use and by the way i use soluto to tell me when the machine is ready for use. Then last week i notice that the headphone jack wasn't working properly so i contact hp and they told me to send them the laptop so i did, they replace the motherboard and they  send it back to me and i just got it today it got a little better but it still lags on the welcome screen and to open programs. I check the memory using memtest 86 and the memory it's fine, but i check the hard drive with HDD Regenerator 2011 and it show i have one delayed sector. Then i check on hd tune pro and it show me some WARNING on section Calibration retry count( as you can see on the picture below)  so my question is should i be worry and send it back to hp or what can i do to fix the problem i am having with this notebook?

I have the same laptop and have had issues with it since the day i brought it home. I have had it for a year now and am now replacing the hard drive for the 3rd time. My guess would be its your hard drive because most of the issues you seem to be having ar the same ones ive been dealing with for a while. I can say I'm very mad about the quality of this laptop and am in the process of  battling with HP over this issue. If you have a chance go online and look at all the hard drive issues that this laptop has had and even look at the HP forums for this issue it will irritate you and make you wonder why this hasn't been fixed yet!

  • Looking for a high gain portable digital antenna for HP Pavilion DV7

    Hi guys,
I bought a PAVILION DV7-3160 eh laptop this year. It has DVB-T MPEG-4 digital HDTV tuner originally made by Avermedia.
There is a problem that the digital signal is very poor at my living place. (It will be reduced until turning analog signal down finally. It will happen only 2 years later but I do not want to wait 2 years  to watch digital TV channels.)
I have decided to plug a third party digital antenna to my laptop instead of the brand HP antenna.
I have founded in the Ebay a lot of digital (active and passive) arials but I don’t know what types are the best to my HP.
I’m helpless as the user manual tell nothing about technical details of TV tuner and it’s antennas.
I give preference to the high gain active antennas with built-in amplifier but these arials good for DVB-T USB stick and its are required 5V or more voltage. There are two types of arials, one is 50 ohm and the other is 75 ohm. (I have a conversion cable on the end a connector which is fit to my laptop (50 OMH) and on the other end a coax cable female connector(75 OMH) This two types is a little bit annoying.)
What are your opinions about this active type of antennas? Are these antennas compatible with my DV7?
Can provide DV7’s antenna connector the needed power to gain signal or the passive types are only suitable for my notebook? And what type would be better 50 or 75 OMH?
I would be glad if you answer my questions suggested me some useful portable antennas what are you using to your HP laptops.
    Thanks in advance.
    Julio
