Pavilion X2 11 and Windows 8.1

I was prompted to upgrade to Windows 8.1 through the windows store on my new tablet and now I'm having some trouble with drivers.
I can no longer adjust the display brightness which is causing shortened battery life. The supplied graphics drivers on the drivers page will not install (sp63630).
The audio drivers will also not install.
Will there be any support for Win 8.1 from HP coming soon?
Thanks.

Just like to follow up and say I found a driver that seems to work.

Audio drivers still fall back to the basic drivers, but audio is working.

When I run the installation wizard begins installing it and then skip, and the process is not completed. The connection icon without the red cross but with an exclamation point and nabpisyu "Limited"

  • HP Pavilion dv6-6b56er and Windows 7 x64 Professional

    Hello.
    I've purchased Pavilion dv6-6b56er with pre-installed Win7 x64 Basic, which is not convenient for me, because of it's lack in functionality. So I've made a full backup of pavilion's hard drives and deleted all software from it. Then I've installed Win 7 x64 Pro and confronted with some difficulties regarding drivers for USB 3.0. Everything else is working fine. I know, that HP do not responsible for any experiments with non-pre-installed software, but still I have some questions.
    First of all, which driver I should install for pavilion's USB 3.0 ports? At downloads page I've found three different options:
    1. Renesas.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-99763-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&...
    2. NEC.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-100224-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en...
    3. Fresco.
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-102204-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en...
    and
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-100237-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en...
    The first two have been installed (I mean they CAN be installed), the third one - doesn't install at all. So what's the reason of putting it on download page?
    The more the merrier. When you try to install package with NEC driver, installation master tells you, that it's Renesas driver. So there is no NEC driver on the download page at all. Why I've payed so much attention to it? I've installed Everest, so I can find out what driver is needed. It tells me that I have "NEC uPD720200 USB 3.0 Host Controller". So, there is no available driver on download page for NEC chipset and we have NEC chipset inside.
    Meanwhile Windows' Support center offered some NEC driver for USB 3.0 (http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp47501-48000/sp47677.exe ).
    So, who is right?
    The second question. If try to connect to USB 3.0 port some compound device (usb hub for example), then in "devices and printers" appear strange devices with label "No data". If Renesas driver has been installed then "USB 2.0 hub" appeared, and if Windows' proposed NEC - then "NEC Electronics USB Hub". The count of strange devices depend on number of devices connected to this compound device. This is my main problem - these strange devices.
    So I came to the deadlock. Any ideas to solve this problem?
    Any replies will be much appreciated.
    PS. Sorry for my bad English.
    This question was solved.

    Is the following image what you see when you start the recovery manager with the disk? This is for the CyberLink type Recovery Manager within Windows. The windows for the external recovery manager should be similar. I will use the external Recovery Manager on my loaner dv7 notebook and post an image later on today.

  • Pavilion dv5 - 1217AX with Windows 8 - multiple booting and crashing issues

    I have a Pavilion dv5 - 1217AX with Windows 8 operating system. It was upgraded from Vista to windows 8 last year and it worked really very well for about 1 year. Here are the issues I am facing these days
    1. When powered on - Caps lock and Num lock LEDs keep flashing twice and the sequence keeps repeating - I checked the error code on some forums and it sounded like BIOS issue so I flashed the BIOS F38 again (SP46501) but it didn't help. I also thought it could be a memory issue so I removed the memory module and cleaned the slots and fixed the modules again but no luck. I also tried running the laptop using only one module, tried both the modules one by but no changes in error code. Then I thought it could be a toy bettery issue so replaced the toy batter that fits on the motherboard but no luck. I have also tried booting up removing the laptop battery pack but no luck.
    So how does it boot now? - Once powered on I keep getting Caps lock Num lock LED flashing issues every time. Then I power off using power on/off button on laptop around 15 times or more then the laptop somehow boots up. There is no fixed pattern, sometimes it boots after 15 attempts, sometimes 50 attempts.
    Whats happenes after booting? - Sometimes the screen goes completely blank without any error message on the screen. Sometimes Windows 8 crashes and laptop restarts, when it restarts I never see LED flashing issues (surprising). It crashes when I am watching some videos or playing some games, so looks like ATI Radeon driver issue (driver is 8.970.100.7000 for HD 3400 display card).
    Let me know if there are any suggestion to fix the botting and crashing issues faced.

    Hi Expertit ,
    At first sight ,seems to be a boot issiu.Did you thry this?
    Booting into the Windows 8 setup, select “Repair your computer” in the bottom part of the window, then “Troubleshoot” and “Advanced options”. Here I was given a good reminder of another cool Windows 8 feature. If you have a restore point created you can go back to that working copy of the OS without losing your data.
    So the first thing you will want to try is the Automatic Repair.
    If that fixes your boot problem, you had it easy and go on to create a restore point for another time you are out of luck. If Windows is unable to fix your issue, read on.
    Go back to the Advanced options and choose the Command Prompt. Going for the next easiest way to fix the problem, enter the following four commands into the prompt:
    bootrec /fixmbr
    bootrec /fixboot
    bootrec /scanos
    bootrec /rebuildbcd
    After receiving a success confirmation. Close the CMD window and restart your PC.
    If you are booted into Windows, excellent! If not, let us know , so we can try some more solutions.
    2.If your video crashes , it is probably wrong Catalyst settings.Right click on screen , open Catalyst control settings , set it to high (Radeon) performance.
    Expecting your next post.

  • Problem with remote control and Windows 7 - HP Pavilion 6301eu

    I installed Windows 7 32-bit and my remote control does not work. I have tried all possible drivers and still nothing ... Photo driver attached. Does anyone have a link to the current drivers for the remote control and Windows 7? thank you

    Hi John:
    Thanks but, I had already done this. I was having THAT problem with Encore (could not even initialize before tanking) when I first installed it and that's when I updated the Roxio engine. I don't know what else there is to update or correct at this point.
    There was one thing that occurred to me: When I was using XP, I had to disable Open GL in order to get Encore to stabilize. I've heard one recommendation for Encore that one must disable graphics acceleration. I would like try that here except I can't figure out how to do that in Windows 7.
    I've been Googling "Windows 7 Disable Graphics Accel" and have come up with nothing useful.
    Thanks for your help though and if you have any other ideas, I'm all ears.

  • Windows 7 and Windows 8 in the same computer

    I have HP Pavilion HDX9300 with two hard discs. I have installed Windows 7 in och of them and Windows 8 in the other. Both W7 and W8 works when the disc is placed in one of the discplaces but not in the other.
    If I want to change from W7 to W8 I thus have to change place for the hard disc. My desire is to change from W7 to W8 without changing places for the harddiscs. Is it possible? If so, how do I do?

    I believe the second hard drive bay in the HDX9300 is not bootable. You need to load Windows 8 on the same hard drive as Windows 7 as a dual boot.
    http://www.extremetech.com/computing/143380-how-to-dual-boot-windows-8-and-windows-7
    You could then use the second drive as storage accessible to both operating systems.

  • Hp pavilion tx2110us drivers for windows 7

    hello,
    i have a hp pavilion tx2110us entertainment notebook (tablet). i recently upgraded from vista home to windows ultimate. i have a few issues with this. i would be very happy if someone could help me here.
    1. the tablet buttons (on the side of the scree dont work), just the settings one works...the rotate, the dvd one dont! i had installed some driver seeing the forum but it only solved a part of the problem. i.e. the settings button for tablet. can i find the drivers for it somewhere??
    2. there is no fingerprint recognition  any more. though its not a big problem but i feel i am not getting what i paid for...;-)
    3. the images when opened in fax viewer or anyother prog seem stretched. i tried to set the screen resolution but it shows on the highest. my driver should be nvidia but currently it is standard vga. where can i find the driver for this....it is not on the hp site....i have a 32 bit os.
    4. even the software updates avalaible on hp site dont work some how. i even tried the vista ones but it says it cant load them as i have windows 7.
    thank you.

    i dont have an active connection on my laptop. as in i cant be on net for too long to get windows updates. is there a way to download the display driver other than updating my drivers from the internet?
    So we will install network drivers to solve this problem.
    Install as first driver for chipset / lan card:
    NVIDIA nForce Chipset/Network here
    After installtion of this driver You need to restart your system. This is very important.
    Driver for wireless card:
    Broadcom wireless here
    Both this drivers are normally on your support page for Vista system, but they will work great under Windows 7 too.
    Only If for some reason wireless driver will not work great then uninstall it first and install latest version released by HP:
    Broadcom Wireless here (ver 5.60.48.35  for 32/64 bit Win7)
    Resource:
    Uninstalling Software in Windows 7
    Uninstall or change a program in Windows 7
    Most of Vista drivers should work under Windows 7. You may find all of them here.
    When normal installation will fail, then try to run unsuccessfully installed file in Compatibility Mode (Windows Vista, Windows Vista Service Pack 1 and Windows Vista Service Pack 2).
    Resources:
    Make older programs run in this version of Windows
    How to Run a Program in Compatibility Mode in Windows 7
    If even this will fail then use Windows Update as I said before and install drivers from optional section.
    I don't have much knowledge about tablets, but according to other post on this board Wacom Digitizer Driver solves problem with rotation.
    This answer was wrong. According to this topic solution on problem with rotation is installation of HP Quick Launch Buttons and Graphic driver.
    Important informations!
    You've got nVidia graphic card and AMD processor. Because of that You should check temperature of your GPU.
    If it's high then You should install driver for graphic card from Windows Update as fast as it's possible.
    How You may check Your notebook CPU (processor), GPU (graphic card), motherboard or HDD temperature?
    To do that use HWMonitor (free and recommended).
    PS.
    If You will still have any problems then let me know about it.
    I will try to help You.

  • My solution for No Audio -- Conexant drivers and Windows 7 x64

    My son and I have the L2000 laptop that came with 32 bit XP and used the Conexant chipset for Audio. I had been using an SB Audigy PCMCIA card so I am not sure when Audio was really lost; however, he noticed it when I upgraded his PC. I scoured various forums looking for 64 bit  Windows 7 drivers for Conexant audio but to no avail. Microsoft and Conexant both said that HP should supply the drivers. By the way HP, the Conexant website says that they do not supply drivers even though they make the chipsets "at the request of the OEM's." Another post said that HP was not going to supply these drivers for Windows 7. The solution from HP for my model and Windows 7 was the "HP Software Advisor" which was 67MB and totaly useless. It appears that this is a very common problem. Anyway, here is what you do:
    First you need 2 files which ironically enough come from HP, they are SP35558.exe and SP35558.cva They contain the Conexant drivers for Vista x64. (I subsequently have found the 32 bit drivers and the procedure should be very similar except the files are SP34789.exe and SP34789.cva). Type the following into your browser address bar ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/ About half way down you will find the sub-directory with these files. Just right click each one and save to your desktop.
    Double click SP35558.cva and tell Windows to use Notepad to open it. Scroll about half way down to "[Operating Systems]" and after "WV64UL=OEM" insert:
    W764HB=OEM
    W764HP=OEM
    W764PR=OEM
    W764UL=OEM
    ( For 32 bit systems use W732HB=OEM, etc.)
    I next went up about 10 lines to "[System information]" and added
    SysId3=0x3091
    SysName3=HP Pavilion ze2000 series
    SysId4=0x3096
    SysName4=Compaq presario M2000 series

    SysName7=Compaq Presario M2000 series
    SysId8=0x3093

    I got this information from another cva file on my PC at C;/swsetup/ This is the directory where HP updates default to.
    After modding the cva file, I saved it to C;/swsetup/sp35558/
    I then executed the SP35558.exe file. It did not work the first time -- I missed a line in my cva file. However, I then manually installed the Conexant drivers as follows and voila I had sound, nice crisp clear sound.
    Under Device Manager, right click "Multimedia Audio Device" under "Other" and choose "Update Driver" Then" Browse your PC" and "Choose from a list". Select "Sound, audio and game controllers", then Conexant, then "Have Disk" . Browse to C:/swsetup/sp35558/ and open "cp6308Ba.inf" (64bit remember). Now choose "OK" and ignore any warnings about incompatibility, WHQL, etc. Give it plenty of time, you might think you are in a loop, but you are not. Congratulations, you are done.

    I thought that I would recompile my answer and then mark this thread as solved since it was not a post about a problem but rather how I solved a very common problem that might be of benefit to others.

    The use of the cva file is to streamline the driver install and it is kind of cool if it works. If you cannot find it or you are not successful the first time or you do not want to bother with modding anything, do not worry, the manual install will work for sure.
    Run sp35558.exe to extract everything and let it strike out. Then go to Device Manager and update the driver manually as follows:

    I've been running 64-bit Windows 8 Consumer Preview very nicely for several months and want to upgrade to 64-bit Windows Pro on my Pavilion a1440n. When I've tried to install from within the OS I get weird messages indicating that it can't be installed on a USB Flash drive (which I'm not trying to do). When I tried doing a clean install I got an odd message saying that certain installer files were missing and it would not complete. I called Microsoft customer support and the agent there thought my cpu would work because it wouldn't support Hyper-V, even though I understand that it optional. From running coreinfo.exe I can see that I have the PAE, NX, and SSE2 on the cpu enabled as meets requirements.
    When I ran through th HP site I saw that this machine has not been tested. Is there any way of getting confirmation that Windows 8 Pro 64-bit will or won't run on my machine? The HP Product code for it is ER904AA#ABA.
    Thanks!

    Bought 3 identical machines for our childcare center. Set them up the same. All work fine except ONE of them becomes inaccessible periodically (daily more-or-less) to the other Windows computers on our little peer-to-peer LAN. You can see it, but cannot access any shared folder. There is NO problem accessing the OTHER computers on the LAN from this one. All 3 machines have the same sharing profile, workgroup, permissions, AV, firewall settings, everything. I realized restarting the computer in question solved the problem immediately but temporarily. I narrowed it down to restarting the DHCP Client service. Do that, everything works fine immediately but temporarily.
    Things I tried:
    Calling HP support - not helpful at all. It is under warranty.
    Disabled IPv6
    Disabled wireless
    Disabled power-saving shutoff of network adapter
    Setting DHCP CLIENT recovery to:
      First Failure = Restart the the Service
     Second Failure = Restart the the Service
     Subsequent Failures = Restart the the Service
     Reset Fail count After = 120
     Restart Service after = 0
    But again, this isn't happening to the other machines with default settings. Nothing works except restarting the DHCP Client service. The loss of access happens with or without someone logged or using it. It has happened since it was first set up.
    I don't know if the HP warranty covers factory-loaded OS. I don't want to restore the thing and start over. I am not an IT professional, just the guy in the office who does these things, but it seems like the network adapter could be defective. I don't know if I can convince a first-level phone support person to have me bring the machine to an authorized service place.
    Any help greatly appreciated,
    Larry

    You're very welcome.
    I would tend to agree, but I wanted to offer you that driver as a last resort.
    This is a consumer to consumer forum.  I don't work for HP, and if you suspect it is a hardware issue, you will need to contact HP technical support and submit a support case under the warranty.
    The warranty covers hardware, and support for the HP software and operating system installed (as long as it is the original factory image that came with the PC and not an operating system you installed).

  • HP AssistaNT AND wINDOWS 8.1

    i Have an HP Pavillion  mod 500-164.  It came with Windows 8.  I have upgraded to WIndows 8.1  so I could run Norton Internet Security which is not compatable with Windows 8.
    Several weeks later, I get a message fromthe HP assistant stating me my PC was not tested with WIndows 8.1 and I may have compatability issues.  It asks me to enter my product number and it will test compatability.  I entered the product number and nothing happens.  I then tried having HP detect the number.  It gets a short way in the process then hangs.   No error messages.
    My PC seems to be running OK and I have not yet experienced any compatability issues.
    ANy thoughts?

    Hi RGH406,
    Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read your thread on your HP Pavilion 500 Desktop and the HP Support Assistant giving an error message. I would uninstall the HP Support Assistant and here is a link to download and reinstall it.
    Hope it helps.
    Thanks.
