Pavillion a1600n Windows Vista Upgrade DVD

I have the HP Pavilion PC / Compaq Presario PC HP Upgrade Assistant disk but I lost the Windows Vista Home Premium Express Upgrade DVD. And when I put the HP Pavilion PC / Compaq Presario PC HP Upgrade Assistant disk, it says "This is not a valid HP System." and "This version of Windows is NOT supported.". Can you guys help why the messages appear and can someone help me find a copy of the Windows Vista Home Premium Express Upgrade DVD? Your help will be greatly appreciated!

I have the same problem.  Before you bother to read further, none of this will help.
Lenovo has already put up the newest conexant drivers:
http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/MIGR-70595.html
That file will extract, but fail with some error about "no media."  Passable instructions on how to install the driver from the device manager are here (and the below link includes the above link):
http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=380641
After you install it, you will have the newest device drivers.  And your internal microphone will still not work.
I won't even close with "hope this helps."  I know it won't.  I post this so you won't scour the web looking for updated drivers.  These are the updated drivers.

  • MacbookPro 15" Mid 09 don't read/recognize Windows 7 upgrade DVD installer

I'm using Parallels Desktop 4 for using Vista Home Premium (always worked fine) on my Macbook Pro 15" 2.8Ghz (Mid 2009).
I wanted to upgrade to Windows 7. I bought the Windows 7 Home Premium Family pack (3 licences). I recived the package/software with 2 DVD installers: 32Bit and 64bit versions.
I insert the 32bit DVD installer on my MBPro (using Parallels Desktop 4) (i have the 32bit Windows Vista version), but my MBPro tried to read the DVD installer, but after a few seconds the DVD was ejected. The MBPro didn't recognized the DVD at all! I tried several times and the same happened. The MBPro do not show me any kind of message, just can read the DVD and ejects.
After that, i took the 64bit DVD installer Version. The MBPro recognizes the DVD inmediatly but Parallels Desktop 4 didn't let me to install it due was a "not supported version" (64bit) (my WVista is 32bit).
Why is that? Why my MBPro recognizes the 64Bit DVD Installer and the 32Bit do not?
I did the same precedure with my iMac and works perfect (i already upgraded form Windows Vista to Windows 7) without any single problem! (iMac 3.06Ghz 21.5", 250Gb, Late 2009) (running Paralles Desktop 4, using Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit version).
My MBPro have a MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-868 optical drive.
My iMac have a HL-DT-ST DVDRW GA11N optical drive.
Is that an issue with the optical drive? or firmware? or Parallels Desktop? or the DVD installer?
Is anybody having trouble with this kind of issue? How did you resolved?
P.D: Sorry for my poor English (i speak spanish)

SP1 has been trouble for some Macs. Don't know so don't ask why. Pre-SP1 then worked fine.
    Try Windows 8 Preview.
Some people use VirtualBox, install there, and use VB and windows native tools to burn the DVD.
Once you’ve downloaded the ISO for your Windows edition and bit-ness, you can either burn it to a DVD using Windows 7's built-in DVD burning tool or copy it to a USB drive using Microsoft’s Windows 7 USB/DVD download tool—our guide will help you through it step-by-step.
Because it sounds like even though you used 2x that it is not a good DVD. Or DVD media/brand. Or the Superdrive - which has to be internal on your model unless you're hacking the USB-DVD driver plist.

    Hi,
The factory reset is necessary I guess. Is there still the recovery partition (D: drive)?? If yes, press esc(ape) at startup and then F11 and follow the instructions to perform "Factory Reset". Before you do this make a list of hardware such as graphics card, wireless card, ethernet card etc. from the Device Manager to know what drivers you need from the HP website in case that the factory reset goes wrong. You could also follow this to install a fresh system which I would prefer.

I would not recommend to upgrade the system to Windows 7 and Windows 8 is completely out of question. The lappy is too old for W8 and I don't think it will perform well even on W7 if you manage to install all drivers.

  • AMD Pavillion Update, Windows Vista

My other PC, an HP Pavillion with an AMD processor and Windows Vista was doing updates. The process got to update 16 of 17 and has been at that point for the last ten hours at this wriing. It appears to have gotten stuck on something. There is no response to doing a CTRL-ALT-DEL from the keyboard. How should I proceed.

    Problem solved.
A couple of days ago, my wife was using that PC to do a variety of things including some e-mails and when she was finished, she initiated a shutdown, turned off the monitor and walked away. The next day, she noticed that the PC had not shut itself down so she turned on the monitor to discover than a Windows update was occurring, that the process gotten to update 16 of 17 and was seemingly stuck there.
There was no PC response to doing a CTRL-ALT-DEL from the keyboard. I could put the computer to sleep and back on again, but the update screen remained unchanging except for a rotating icon that seemed to show that some kind of process was underway. It turns out that it was.
A short while ago, perhaps a day and a half after the attempted shut-down, I discovered that the PC had indeed finally shut itself down. I turned it back on and up came a screen display showing that updates were being confiugred, stage 3 of 3. I left everything alone and the PC entered into normal operation.
It would appear that the update process had started automatically just after my wife had commanded the PC to shut down and that the sixteenth update took well over a day to be implemented. Normally, the PC would have done a restart, but since it had been commanded to shut down, it did that instead. When I came along and powered it back up, the update process completed itself.
My only real bewilderment at this point is why there was the super long time for that sixteenth update to take place.

  • Satellite L750 - Windows 8 Upgrade - DVD Drive Missing

I upgraded to Windows 8, after a short while I found the DVD wasn't displayed in windows explorer and devices. I had seen this before on another laptop and installing the Win 8 SATA drivers seemed to cure it.
I have gone to the driver section on the Toshiba site for this model and there are none for SATA. Can anyone point me in the right direction for a fix or the Win 8 SATA drivers for this model please?

The PC was running OK when shut down, when starting the next day it starts and stops continually. Power light comes on, hear hard drive start then power light goes off the comes back on. This continues until power cord is removed.

    Hello PJ2497,
Many things can cause the computer to shut down after a few seconds. If you are not even getting into Windows then we know that your OS is not the issue, however it leads me to believe it may be a hardware issue.
The first thing you should do is open up your computer and clean everything. Ensure there is no dust and all fans work. If the computer is not getting adequate airflow the system may shut down after a few seconds to protect itself from damaging itself.
The next thing to do is try to isolate and identify the component that is failing it could be
    1. The CMOS battery
    2. Faulty RAM
    3. Faulty PCI video card
    4. Faulty Power supply
    5. Faulty Processor
    6. Faulty Motherboard
Let's first clean the system and check to ensure all fans are working to see if the issue corrects itself. After that we can start trying to rule out hardware components to see if we can identify which has failed and is causing the issue.

I'm having the same problem but I can't switch my drives. I have my 2 200 gig maxtors full of data that i can't let go of. I've installed a new silicon images pci card with 2 sata channels. if i hook up the drives both bios recognize the drives correctly but it tell me invalid system disk. pretty sure that it's reading the pci card, not seeing a os installed and not even looking at my onboard controller. I was told that i can change irq priority, but i can't get it right or it doesn't work. I can install os on pci card but would really rather not. I'm very happy with the setup i have for once.

A little while ago I bought an activation and serial key so I could upgrade my Windows Vista to Windows 7
My PC is FULLY compatible and I checked 3 times with Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor ,
I launched Windows Anytime Upgrade and there was no option to upgrade only to go to the website and comapre different versions of Vista
I was a bit fustrated and I have been looking for an answer all afternoon

    HP Pavillion Slimline
    Windows Vista ( 32- Bit )
    Dual Core Proccessor
    2.5Ghz

What is needed to upgade to Windows 7 is an install disk.  You can borrow one or download the one needed, depending on the key purchased.  Windows Anytime Upgrade will only upgrade in the product line that is installed.  Which version of Windows 7 did you purchase?  And do you need/what 32bit or 64bit?

  • Windows 7 32-bit Upgraded from Windows Vista

    Hello Everyone
I have a Satellite A500-15M, with a Windows 7 32-bit running on it which was upgraded from Windows Vista 32-bit by an upgrade DVD from Toshiba sent to me in January.
I need to have my Windows 7 as 64-bit instead of 32-bit. I have been searching on the internet about this matter, and I have discovered that I cannot do this unless I have a fresh copy of Windows, but the only disks that I have are the Windows Vista RECOVERY DVDs, and the Windows 7 Upgrade DVD.
Is it possible to have a fresh copy of Windows Vista 64-bit from my Revocery DVDs, then upgrade to Windows 7? Or do I need a Windows 64-Bit DVD?
    I really appreciate your cooperation.
    Kind Regards,
    Ala'

    Hello
According notebook specification your notebook was delivered with Vista 32bit and 64bit dual boot.
If you have created recovery discs it will be interesting to know how many DVD disc you have.
For instance on my Satellite A500-157 I have 4 DVD discs. With other words I have recovery discs for 32 and 64bit Vista. When you start first DVD you will be asked which version you want to install.
Please check if this works with your recovery discs too.
If you have this option install Vista 64bit on your notebook and later use upgrade DVD and try to upgrade it to Win7 64bit.
Please test it and let me know if this works for you.
Depending on your answer we will search next solution for you.

  • Portege R400-106 - where to get 64-bit Windows Vista DVD?

    Hello:
have ordered this notebook with 4GB, but the OS is Windows Vista Ultimate 32bit, meaning that I cannot use more than 3GB.
Could you please advise where to get the 64-bit Windows Vista Ultimate DVD so that I can upgrade?
Please, could you email me at [email protected]?
    Thank you.

    Hi
I think this question can be answered only by a Toshiba person. This is a simply a user to user forum and you will not meet here anybody from Toshiba.
But I will provide my own opinion.
    Regarding point
    1) Toshiba hasnt supported the 64bit in the past and I believe it will take several times till such 64bit OS will be supported. Who knows.
    2) Dont think you will receive the 64bit Toshiba DVD. If Toshiba will decided to support the 64bit drivers then you have to purchase the Vista 64bit OS and then you could be able to use the Toshiba drivers from the website.
    3) As I said, if you wan to use the 64bit OS you have to purchase it.

  • WindowsPowerShell removal to upgrade from Windows XP SP3 to Windows Vista Business

I see five suggestions, but I'd like to give you more information first. I have Windows XP Home Edition w/SP3. I'm trying to upgrade to Windows Vista Business Edition. When attempting to do this, i get a message that, in essence says that I need to remove
WindowsPowerShell. I believe that I have v1 installed. I can't remove it from Control Panel, its not listed, and yes, I have the updates box checked. There was a posting on another forum that said to try and remove it from PowerShell. I followed those instructions
    and this is the result:
PS C:\WINDOWS\system32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0> get-hotfix -id KB926139 Get-HotFix : This command cannot find hot-fix on the machine 'localhost'.
Verify the input and Run your command again.
    At line:1 char:11
    + get-hotfix <<<<  -id KB926139
    + CategoryInfo          : ObjectNotFound: (:) [Get-HotFix], ArgumentException
    + FullyQualifiedErrorId : GetHotFixNoEntriesFound,Microsoft.PowerShell.Commands.GetHotFixCommand
    PS C:\WINDOWS\system32\WindowsPowerShell\v1.0>
I understand that WPS may have been installed as part of a Service Pack, and that's why the KB926139 became involved. After going through all of the Programs and Updates in Add/Remove Programs, I did not find either WindowsPowerShell or KB926139. I did go
into the registry, and found it there, and obviously, it must be installed because I used the WPS command line to obtain the information in bold print. Does anyone have suggestions/ideas on how I
can uninstall WindowsPowerShell so that I can upgrade to Vista?

    I'd ask them over here.
